It was the day that Lillis had been waiting for, a day where her life would change forever, and she was ready to go. She had been since some ridiculously early time in the morning, unable to sleep for the sheer excitement that had overcome her. What would cause such behavior? Today was the day she would get her first pokemon and she already knew exactly which pokemon she would choose. Charmander, the fire pokemon. It would be the perfect companion for her journey. At least, that was what she hoped. After all, no two pokemon were exactly the same. She had learnt a little about it during school but she was sure to learn more soon.
Of course, it was also tradition. Leaving home at ten years old to go on your first adventure, making your way in the world, and she wasn't going to fail that test. She never failed.
"You should eat something, dear." Her mother was worried about her again, but Lillis was in no mood for food. Now that it was time, she wasn't about to delay. She couldn't risk Professor Elm not having her desired pokemon! That would be a disasterous start to the whole thing. She shook her head, throwing a plush squirtle at her brother as she headed out of the house. "It'll be your turn soon, don't drop the ball!"
She rushed to the lab and was pleased to finally get inside. The professor talked about how important this choice was, but she already knew her answer. There was no hesitation as she chose the charmander.
"Char, that'll be your name." A simple name, from the mind of a girl that was still in reality a child. The charmander chirped quietly at it's new trainer before returning to it's ball. This was it, this was really it. As she made her way out of the lab she could barely believe it. All this time she had waited and now she couldn't even decide what she actually wanted to do. Obviously, she needed to head for the next town first. But what then? She didn't know, and the truth was she'd never been sure of that. Her destiny lay ahead of her... Whatever that was.

A beautiful day would set the backdrop for the beginning of Lillis' adventure as a trainer. Not a cloud in sight, plants looked to be blooming along the route and across the town, and avian Pokemon could be heard chirping from far above. Most of the flying-types in the distant sky certainly seemed to be enjoying the nice weather as well. None of them more so than a single pidgey, who would swoop down onto the ground, a short distance in front of Lillus. “Pidgey!” piped up the plump bird, seeming quite curious of the young trainer it found itself in front of. Its head tilted a little, as if it was analyzing the trainer. The tiny bird would perch its head back up and then raise its wings and bounce around in circles, as if it was doing some sort of a dance. Either way, it certainly was enjoying itself. After a couple of twirls, the pidgey finished up its little dance, turning to Lillis. The young pidgey looked as if it wanted to have a battle, it could be seen in its eyes. As much as the Pokemon probably thought it was, it wasn’t quite of an epic entrance for a battle. It sure was something, more entertaining possibly than anything else. “Pid-Pidgey!” The pidgey gleefully let out, waiting to see if Lillus would send out a Pokemon for a battle. A wild Pidgey (level 3) has made an epic appearance! What will Lillis and Char do?Shiny check: P5KY7YFT1-421-42

Could there have been a better start to her adventure? Bright blue skies, the sun burning brightly overhead as she started to make her way down route 29 toward Cherrygrove City. There was a bounce in her step, an energy to her movement as she moved through the tall grass. This was it, it was really happening! Her adventure was starting! She took a moment to watch the bird pokemon overhead - mostly pidgeys, from what she could see, swooping and enjoying the warm weather. She grinned, adjusting her logo-embroidered backpack, and went to continue her journey when one, particularly gutsy, pidgey swept down in front of her. If the pidgey was trying to be impressive, it kind of failed. For starters, like all pidgeys, it was tiny. A ball of brown and cream feathers, although she quite liked it's attitude. It puffed it's chest out, seemingly pleased with himself and she tilted her head, giggling with a soft voice. "Oh, you're cute!" She commented. But soon the pokemon's demeanor changed and, she realised, seemed to be challenging her. The pidgey... Wanted to battle? "Well, okay then." She plucked the ball from her belt, the object still a foreign feeling and she took a moment to feel it in her hand. "We got this, Char. I believe in you." She threw the ball and the charmander burst forth, seeming to take a step back for a moment and looking at it's trainer before focussing on the pidgey. Charrrrr! The pokemon's voice broke the air as it faced it's opponent. "Okay, Charmander. Use scratch!" Was she even doing this right? She had to hope so now.

The calm air and open skies seemed to warrant the Pidgey’s great mood. This Pokemon would become a star in some arena – even if it only had to be the arena of beating up newfound Pokemon trainers and their Pokemon. What would she release upon the Pidgey, the brown-and-cream feathered bird had to wonder as it fanned the ends of its wingtips in a beckoning motion towards Lillis. It wouldn’t have to wait for long. As soon as the bird began to try and egg the trainer on, the young child had pulled a red-and-white Pokeball from her belt and she released her starter Pokemon within an instance. The flame-tailed orange scaled lizard took a second to gain her consciousness and the surrounding, it seemed. Perhaps a timid sort, the Charmander lunged herself forward with her clawed paws outstretched. Before the Pidgey had the proper time to aim her attack, the scaly orange Charmander was on top of the bird Pokemon raking it with her claws from the sides. The tiny bird cried out in a painful voice. “Pidgey!” It wailed. With her talons, the Pidgey kicked up dirt and debris at the Charmander, slinging sand at its opponent. It meant to bide itself some time, and perhaps lower the Charmander’s near-perfect aim. But, oh its beautiful feathers! All tattered and torn on its left side, where deep claw marks were etched and grooved into the Pokemon. The show must go on! The Pidgey dived up and spun around in a hover just above as it tried to use its wings to really spread the sand on the battlefield. Although the performance would comes off as half-attack and half-theatrics, with the way the Pidgey seemed to carry on. It was obvious this Charmander came to play! Char lunged forwards and, for a moment, Lillis wondered if this was the right thing to do. But there was no stopping now and the charmander was already on top of the pidgey, hitting it's mark before the pidgey kicked sand up in it's eyes. She felt a rush of emotion. Joy - as the attack was successful - and concern, both for the pidgey and Char. "Keep it up, Char. You did great." she encouraged her pokemon, hoping that neither were too badly hurt. She bit her lip, trying to process without taking too long, and decided not to question what had so far worked. Her blue eyes flicked between the brown-and-cream bird and the orange fire-lizard as she made up her mind.
"Again, Char. Use scratch." Maybe if this attack was successful she could catch the pidgey. She would need more pokemon on her journey, and while it was small she could sense this one had spirit. Pride, perhaps? Either way, it spoke to her, and she wanted it... If only luck would choose to be on her side. Don't get too far ahead of yourself. she scolded herself silently. Go with the flow, and you won't be disappointed.

The flame-tailed orange scaled lizard was strong, much more of a challenge than Pidgey had ever handled previously. The plump-bodied avian pokemon glared towards the human's pokemon, the dual typed pokemon was sure its next performance would be simply spectacular, irrespective of the fact that its left side currently looked like leftovers from a Thanksgiving dinner. Lillis instructed her new partner to continue exactly as she had been doing, the facial expression on Pidgey's face was one of horror, it couldn't take too many more of those scratches from the flame-tailed orange scaled lizard. The plump-bodied avian pokemon screeched out in pain, even more so than it had in the round of attacks before hand. Char had again lunged towards the wild Pidgey with clawed paws outstretched as it ripped and teared at the right side of the flying type pokemon. The wild Pidgey layed flat on the ground, motionless for a few moments, it was simply trying to garner some attention from the human and her pokemon that it's battling days were over. The plump-bodied avian pokemon assumed it had put the act on for long enough as it then suddenly rose from the ground and launched its body towards Char in a crash tackle like situation. The wild Pidgey had been simply trying to 'fox' its opponent into believing that it was down and out, theatre was half of the thrill that the avian got from battle, it allowed it to express itself and its personality. Char's attack was quick and, even having had sand in it's eyes, it had found it's target and landed another sharp blow. Lillis felt bad as she saw the damage done to the bird, shaking her head slightly as it lay on the floor seemingly defeated. Char let out a quiet noise, almost like a sigh, and looked back at her trainer who nodded... Just as the midgey attacked. The sneaky pokemon had been fooling them and had she been more brash, Lillis may well have ended things then. But once more she was impressed by the small bird's guts and she grabbed her backpack and rummaged within it - her fingers wrapped around a red and white sphere. A pokeball.
"Stay sharp, Char!" she warned as she judged her aim and threw the pokeball in an attempt to catch the pidgey. Come on, you'll make an excellent addition to my team. She didn't speak it out loud, but she willed it. With the sun high in the sky, other birds still overhead, and her charmander now bearing the woulds of the bird's move, now she made her attempt.

The small brown feathered avian have been prepared to carry out and entire show for the child’s viewing pleasure. What it wasn’t prepared for, however, was the Pokeball – or it’s subsequent capture. The flame-tailed lizard was a nuisance – an eye sore that had managed to pilfer and rip through Pidgey’s feathers with its gnarly little claws. They should be cut and kept at an acceptable growth level! What kind of trainer would allow such a horrid fire-breathing monster to easily tear through a bird’s perfectly fine plumage and wreak havoc on their natural appearance?! Pidgey preened. The small bird used its sharp beak to pull and pluck out all the damaged feathers. It chirped and squawked wildly with each feathers as it pulled them out and tossed them to the ground. The Pidgey glared. Its eyes narrowed down on Char and it huffed angrily as if it were accusing the Charmander of all the damages it had caused. In its momentary lapse of judgement, the tiny brown bird missed Lillis pulling a small red-and-white spherical device from her bag and pressing the button in the center of the Pokeball, before tossing it at the Pidgey. Zap! Boing. Wriggle…wriggle…ding! The Pokeball fell on the ground and rocked back and forth as the Pokemon fought inside of the Pokeball. Wriggle…wriggle…ding! It seemed as thought the Pidgey was locked inside of another battle, although this was an internal one as it tried to fight desperately for its freedom once more. Wriggle…wriggle...DING! This time, the final sound was slightly louder and a confirmation that the Pokeball had successfully caught the Pokemon.

The pidgey seemed indignant, even angry at her and Char, but Lillis just found herself admiring it. Despite everything, it kept going and it ought to be proud of it's own courage. The more she saw, the more she knew she wanted to take that pidgey with her. Most trainers may have looked down on it, being both common and low level, but Lillis was enchanted. As the ball left her had she was hoping... The ball closed around the pokemon, and began to shake. One.... Two... Three times. She rocked back on her heels as she waited. Would she be successful? Finally the ball fell still, a soft locking sound coming from within. "YES!" She span excitedly as she ran to pick up the ball, holding it proudly. "Welcome to the team... Kes."PidgeyName: Kes Gender: Female Level: 3 OT: Lillis Harshing Moves: Tackle Ability: Keen Eye Nature/Personality: Jolly Of course, now she had something else to worry about. Kes had taken quite a beating in that battle, and she didn't want her to suffer for longer than she had to. She needed to get her home. Taking hold of Char's ball she grinned. "Char, you did great! Return!" Char was back in the ball, and Lillis was determined to get to Cherrygrove and so she continued her journey, walking all the more purposefully through the tall grass as she made her way toward the City.

There was still quite some distance to Cherrygrove but with the speed Lillis laid out with she would certainly reach it before nightfall. Unless her sense of direction was less than good and she got lost since she didn't follow the road. For now she made good progress though and her brisk pace warned most wild pokemon about her arrival and they scurried out of the way before she even noticed them. Not all paid that much attention to their surroundings and Lillis would hear angry chirping as she walked. To the side she would see a pidgey in a tree, looking like it was scolding a little bear-like pokemon with red spots all over the body. The spinda was climbing the tree the bird was in, although it looked to have a very bad balance and it looked like it was about to fall with every second move it made. The pidgey kept chirping angrily as the spinda made it to the branch it was on and send it a grin. Then the spinda made a sound that was a badly mimick of a chirp and the bird stared disgusted at it. The pidgey stomped frustrated and then jumped off the branch and flew to a nearby tree. The spinda called after it and wobbly got up in its feet, hesitated for a moment and then jumped out flapping its arms wildly and crash landed in the grass. It was quick on its feet and began a wobbly run towards the pidgey who looked like it wanted to scream out of frustration. "Spin? Spin, da!" The bear attempted to chirp and jumped around flapping and then lost its balance and fell once again. Spinda quickly got back on its feet and then tried to climb the tree. That made the pidgey snap and it dived and tackled it away from the trunk. Pidgey followed it and slapped it with its wings chirping with each hit. "Pid!" Slap "Gey!" Slap "Pid!" Slap "Gey!" Slap. Anyone around who could understand pokemon language would hear it saying: "You! Are! No! Bird! Stop trying or you hurt yourself!"Pidgey [lvl 5] is picking on a Spinda [lvl 5] who tries to be something its not. What will Lillis do?Shiny? niNd6tgw1-421-42(ooc: you don't need to ask for updates on your pokedex here, it is seen when you post there and will be handled. Lillis was making good time, and while her speed meant that she didn't have many encounters along the route when she finally did it was a very unusual one indeed. The young trainer stopped to watch a pidgey and a spinda (a rare sight in these parts) interact. The spinda was cute, almost like a teddy bear, and acting very oddly. Why was it trying to climb into the tree and then... Was it trying to fly? Lillis could barely believe her eyes, giggling in childish amusement. What a pokemon.
But the spinda's antics didn't amuse everyone, it seemed. Soon enough the pidgey, which the spinda had been following around and mimicking, lost it's tempter. It flew down in a flurry of feathers and began to make it's annoyance known to the bear. "Oh, my...." Lillis spoke to herself as she watched on, knowing she needed to do something and rushed forwards toward the pair. "Stop! Please, I think you're hurting it!" Foolish? Perhaps, but then what else was she to do? She didn't exactly want to make things worse.

While it seemed that the wild Spinda was experiencing a serious case of identity crisis, it was simply just trying to have fun and make some friends, after all it's species was a rare one that wasn't regularly spotted around these parts. Pidgey was having none of this nonsense as it layered a barrage of strikes at the bipedal, red panda Pokémon with rabbit-like features, the spot pokemon was a nuisance and the plump-bodied avian was forced to deal with the situation the only way it knew how. At the sound of a human voice from nearby the wild Pidgey paused it's assault on the red panda pokemon and turned to set it's sights on what had interrupted it. Pidgey were often referred to as a docile species of pokemon that preferred to avoid conflict, however if disturbed they were known to ferociously strike back. The tiny bird pokemon was blinded with rage at this point as it begun to flap its wings to take flight and begun to make a b-line towards Lillis and continue it's assault on the human. The wild Spinda with a confused and concerned look on its face begun to wobbly walk in the direction that the wild Pidgey had just set off on, it seemed the red panda pokemon still wanted to emulate what the avian pokemon was doing despite the fact that the flying type pokemon had only just layered a bird brained assault onto it. Lillis was now faced with a situation that definitely needed to be dealt with and needed to be done so fairly fast before the avian pokemon truly closed the distance between itself and Lillis.
Pidgey [lvl 5] is blinded by rage at this point and wants to take it out on Lillis! Spinda [lvl 5] is clearly still trying to be something its not. How is Lillis going to deal with this situation?

Her attempt to help had, clearly, been the wrong thing to do for the pidgey's gaze was full of rage and suddenly it hurtled toward her. She lifted her left arm to defend her face, wary of the sharp claws and fumbled to grab Char's pokeball, clicking to button throwing it out haphazardly. "Char, I need you!" The orange lizard appeared, dark eyes bright as she looked around to see the two approaching pokemon and stepping back before calling out.
"CHARMANDER!" Charmander was in turn furious at the attempted assault on her trainer, her flame-tipped tail lashing as she squared up. Behind her, Lillis was already grabbing the other ball from her belt and releasing the pokemon within. "Kes, you too! Show them what your made of!" The pidgey cried as he was released, fluffing himself up as he landed beside Char to face the oncoming attackers.
"Char, use ember on Spinda. Kes, tackle the Pidgey!" She was shouting orders in an attempt to make a defense, in the hopes of saving herself from the oncoming pain, but had she done it in time? Would it even be enough?

Pidgey was blinded by rage as it attempted to assault Lillis, thankfully the young girl was able to release Char from her pokeball in time, regardless of how uncoordinated it may have appeared to be, the pressure of the situation warranted the fumbles that occurred that was for certain. The rage induced Pidgey noticed the flaming lizard pokemon and noticed how strong it appeared to be, maybe the plump-bodied avian had bitten off more than it could chew. Pidgey glided back to some open space in preparation for a battle, conveniently the wild Spinda that had caused all of this mess had made its way to exactly where the flying type pokemon had positioned itself. Lillis now had two combatants on her side of the makeshift battlefield in Char and Kes, the wild Pidgey was ready to take the two pokemon now opposite it on in a battle of two verses one, the red panda pokemon however had other ideas as it clearly was intent on helping the plump-bodied avian pokemon in the situation that it had gotten itself into.
The odds were now even in a two on two battle where the most unlikeliest of allies were forced to work together. Lillis' Char unfurled bolts of fire from its mouth that were directed for the red panda pokemon. Spinda stood stationary and accepted the attack front on, one couldn't tell if the normally confused look on its face was exactly how it was feeling at this moment or if it was simply just unsure of what to do, maybe this was a whole new experience for it. The wild Pidgey still filled with anger couldn't believe how blunt its new teammate appeared to be, a butter knife was sure to be sharper than this red panda pokemon. The wild Pidgey begun to flaps its wings as sand was spewed up towards Char, the fire type orange lizard pokemon took the brunt of the attack to the eyes and it was clear that the move had irritated her. Not to be outdone the red panda pokemon leaned over and picked up some sand from the ground and tossed it, it was clearly the type of pokemon that found joy in copycatting others. With the throw that Spinda had done it was clear that it was definitely not going to be playing in the big leagues as a pitcher anytime soon as the sand connected with Kes, Lillis' Pidgey. Much like her teammate it was clear that the majority of the sand was stuck in Kes' eyes, despite this the avian took flight and charged towards the opposing Pidgey as she crash tackled her body into that of the other plump-bodied flying type pokemon.
