Maxwell king » OOC: Statement time! Upon his travels throughout the Johto region, Max had caught word of a Bug Catching Contest that was going to be held at the National Park in Goldenrod City and it was being hosted by Azalea Town's resident gym leader Bugsy. Bugsy was the the next gym leader standing in Max's path to cementing himself as one of the strongest pokemon trainers in the region as he made his way towards the championship of the region.
Max had caught a bus from Violet City to Goldenrod City, an offer only made available to trainers when contests such as the bug catching contest arose. After completing the sign-ups at the front desk, Max made his way through the glass sliding doors and entered the National Park as he awaited the signal for the contest to begin, he noticed a few other trainers were also participating in the contest.
Max was prepared to use Crimson the Charmeleon for the duration of the contest, a pokemon with a clear typing advantage over the bug type pokemon that would be littered throughout the National Park. Max was filled with nervous excitement, this was sure to be an experience he would never forget. He was keen to leave a lasting impression in Bugsy's mind prior to challenging him for his gym badge while also sending a clear message to other trainers participating that this wasn't some sort of game to him, this was serious business.

Maxwell king » OOC: Just a light burn The announcers call to signal the beginning of the Bug Catching Contest echoed over the National Park, the contestants spread out from the starting point with eager anticipation. Max's attention shifted away from keeping an eye on his fellow competitors towards searching for whatever bug type pokemon decided to make its presence known first.
Max released Crimson the Charmeleon from his pokeball as the go-goggles wearing fire lizard pokemon flexed his arms in a muscle man pose. Max gave a cheeky smile towards his fire type partner, the ever confident Charmeleon definitely put on display his personality trait of being an alpha male.
Max and Crimson didn't have to go looking for their first encounter as an aggressive looking Beedrill approached the pair ready to fight. The wild Beedrill was likely annoyed by the sudden influx of human trainers and their pokemon partners invading their home. Max wasn't worried about the Beedrill's feelings however, he didn't have time to waste on that,
"Crimson, Incinerate."
Crimson had a visible smirk on his face as his gaze did not stray away from the wild Beedrill. The fire type lizard pokemon cocked his head back as flames brewed from within his stomach, a moment later Max's Charmeleon tossed his head forward and shot multiple fireballs from his mouth, the fireballs had a bright orange centre and black highlights surrounding it towards the wild Beedrill.

An angry buzz heightened in the air as the wild bug zipped closer, striking Crimson thrice with a series of furious blows.

Maxwell king » OOC: capture attempt! It would have no doubt been a wise move for the wild Beedrill to avoid Max and his fire type partner rather than aggressively approach them, the bug type pokemon was sure to feel the full effects of the typing advantage that the Charmeleon had over it.
The poison bee pokemon was completely engulfed by the multiple fireballs that Crimson unleashed towards it, the bug/poison dual type pokemon was fighting a losing battle as it definitely looked worse for wear after the attacks initial effects had subsided.
The wild poison bee pokemon retaliated against Max's Charmeleon, albeit with a great struggle as it pushed through the pain of Crimson's previous attack to use its fury attack move. Multiple furious blows connected with the fire type lizard pokemon, Crimson definitely looked the healthier of the two combatants after a round of attacks, however standing front and centre for another barrage of that fury attack move would be unwise.
Max retrieved a sport ball which the National Park staff had supplied upon completing the entry form to the competition. The male young adult nodded thanks towards Crimson for his efforts as he tossed the red and white spherical device towards the wild Beedrill in hopes of capturing it.

The beedrill didn't cool down from the last attack nor realize it was in big trouble. Instead it buzzed forward and straight into the park ball Maxwell had thrown at it, and it dumped to the ground where the ball lay angrily rolling until the beedrill was caught Beedrill was caught! Maxwell king » OOC: on the board! The wild Beedrill was clearly still livid after Crimson's lethal fire type attack as it charged towards the fire type lizard pokemon with no regard for the pokeball that was heading directly for it. The poison bee pokemon buzzed its way right into the red and white spherical device as it was sucked inside of it through a blinding red light.
After a few nervous shakes the pokeball's momentum stopped entirely and the wild Beedrill had been officially captured. Max now had a pokemon that he could enter into judging for the contest with four more encounters allowed during his session in the National Park.
Crimson and Max were both full of confidence as they continued traversing through the National Park, the Bug Catching Contest was going to end up a very valuable training experience for Max's fire type pokemon.

Maxwell king » OOC: oh yeah shelmet! Max and Crimson walked around the National Park with a confident aura radiating from them, it was abundantly clear that the pair were not worried about what pokemon would decide to challenge them next. It would not take long for another bug type pokemon to approach Max and Crimson as a snail like pokemon with a gray shell that resembled a knights visor made its presence known. The bivalve pokemon looked as confident as Max and Crimson, little did the pair know the Shelmet had finished a trainer and their pokemon partner in battle a few moments ago, the thrill of the fight was indefinitely coursing through the snail like pokemon's body.
Max was all too willing to oblige to the bug type pokemon's challenge as he looked over towards Crimson who appeared eager to get down to business as the fire type lizard pokemon shifted his entire focus to that of the wild snail like pokemon as he awaited Max's orders as to what attacking move he would utilise to start this battle off.
"Alright Crimson, back to work my friend! Hit our bug type friend over here with Incinerate."
Much like he had done in the previous battle, a visible smirk could be seen on Crimson's face, the fire type lizard was simply oozing with confidence, the typing advantage that he had over his combatants in the Bug Catching Contest was making this a walk in the park, literally. Crimson cocked his head back as flames brewed from within his stomach, a moment later Max's Charmeleon tossed his head forward and shot multiple fireballs from his mouth, the fireballs had a bright orange centre and black highlights surrounding it towards the wild Shelmet.

Crimson [Blaze]: Normal ... used Incinerate! It was much of a repeat of the previous battle. Swirling fires of intense heat that would melt any berry or item completely engulfed the charging bug pokémon and put an abrupt halt to its approach. This charmelon wasn't anything like the last trainer it had trounced, and once the fire had died down the armored bug pursed its lips and reconsidered its direct approach. Instead it trumpeted a change of plans, little spittle flying through the air, just as a ghastly form of energy swept around it. It was a slight buff, but perhaps would pay off in the long run.

Maxwell king » OOC: Capture attempt! Crimson's Incinerate attack stopped the wild Shelmet right in its tracks as the fire type pokemon's fireballs completely engulfed the bug type pokemon. The snail like pokemon was left in a bruised and battered state, it had no doubt seen better days and looked entirely worse for wear.
The wild Shelmet's approached had been halted as it contemplated how best to approach the situation going forward, while doing so it appeared to be buffing itself up in preparation that the battle would be going the distance, something Max and Crimson were definitely not going to allow to happen.
"Nice job Crimson, you've got this down to a science at this point."
Max retrieved another empty sport ball from his pocket that had been supplied by the officials of the bug catching contest to be used for the duration of said event. Max proceeded to toss the spherical device towards the wild Shelmet in hopes of capturing the bug type pokemon.

When the black-haired boy pulled the Sport Ball out and tossed it at the small pink-and-green snail in its thick grey armored shell, the wild bug type Pokemon wouldn't have been prepared. A blast of red light engulfed the weakened bug Pokemon, transforming the Pokemon into the light itself, and pulling it inside of the Sport ball as well. The small reddish-and-white ball distinct from a Pokeball given the small inscribed 'S' on the top, rocked back and forth on the ground. One...two.. Three dings would signify a successful capture, where the Park ball would stop shaking and lay silently on the ground.

Maxwell king » OOC: Capture Shelmet, Release Beedrill and Crimson forgets Scratch for Scary Face! Max watched on with eager anticipation as the snail like bug type pokemon seemed unprepared for the sudden shift in the battle's momentum in the form of a capturing device being tossed towards it. The wild Shelmet was a sitting duck for the sport ball as it was engulfed by the red light and transported inside the realm of the spherical capture device. The sport ball tossed from side to side before the shaking stopped and the scene was silent, the capture had been successful, a visible smile could be seen on Max's face as a result of the capture.
"Lite work Crimson, keep it up"
Crimson flexed his arms again as a sign of dominance, he was a man among boys at this point. The bug type pokemon truly didn't stand much of a chance against Crimson, the fire type lizard pokemon's typing advantage was an instrumental reason as to Max's early success in the Bug Catching Contest. As Max retrieved the sport ball containing his newly caught Shelmet he consecutively reached for the ball that was containing his recently caught Beedrill as he released the bee pokemon back into the National Park. Maxwell king » OOC: Another one bites the dust! The bug type pokemon were approaching Max and his partner Crimson thick and fast, after defeating and capturing one another seemingly appeared on the scene. The next opponent that would make its presence known was a bug type with small blue horns that stuck out from the tall grass. Max watched as the bug pokemon disappeared back into the tall grass, seemingly spooked by the appearance of the human and his pokemon partner.
"Track it down Crimson, then hit it with Flamethrower"
Crimson set out in pursuit of the wild Karrablast to hunt it out from the tall grass. It would be an extremely dangerous tactic to try and flush the bug type pokemon out of the grass by simply lighting the tall grass up with his flamethrower attack, it would likely end up in a disqualification in the competition for Max, something that he definitely didn't want to happen as his goal was to win it all.
