Vitra stood outside the Gym for some time, replaying the path she'd taken that had gotten her here. From the moment she'd gotten Midori, to the travels which she'd battled and acquired others; the pokemon that rested in their pokeballs at her waist- except for Midori who was standing at her side, her gaze switching between Vitra and the building Vitra was staring at. When she stepped forward to nuzzle her trainer's leg, Vitra glanced down at her and then smiled, bending down to gently rub at her head.
"I think we can win, don't you?" she asked, her smile softening as Midori leaned her head into the petting.
"Saur," the grass-type murmured, and then turned back to the Gym. "Saur, ivyasaur?"
"Yes- I think now's the time. Come on, let's get going." Agreeably, the Ivyasaur trotted along beside her as she pushed her way through the doors into the Gym, her gaze sweeping the building for Falkner, the Gym's leader. Her belly fluttered with nerves, more than when she'd taken on the Alola challenge, but she hoped that she'd succeed at this as she had then. It was just another fight, and she was certain her team had the strength to win, if she played this carefully.
She could always try again, if she failed- but she hoped she and her team could manage this on the first try.

The building Vitra and her pokemon entered was one big room with a raised platform in the middle which top was so high Vitra had to look up to see where it ended. The room was mostly empty with a table near the entrance which looked like it was used to greet people, and a few doors were at the far end wall, but otherwise the only thing happening was a flicker of movement on top of the platform and a occasional spray of dust from up there as well. One of the doors opened and a woman stepped out and walked purposely straight to Vitra, and greeted her politely when she reached her. "Welcome to Violet Gym," the woman said and glanced at Midori, "are you here to challenge Falkner for at try at a Zephyr badge?" She asked professionally and waited for Vitra to confirm. "He is battling another trainer at the moment but he should have time afterwards, we can take care of the paperwork in the mean time, if you'll follow me?" The woman informed and gestured to the table near the entrance. It was done very fast, basically it was just Vitra's name and making it official that she had challenged Falkner, "then you don't have to challenge him again should you lose the badge," the woman explained and she put the things in on the computer. Not long after two trainers were coming down the stairs to the platform, one looked to be swallowing his disappointment while the other, who had blue hair looked pleased and was praising the other ones pokemon and did his best to encourage the other trainer to keep training. The blue haired looked a bit surprised to see someone waiting at the entrance but he took some time to shake hands with the other trainer and see him to the door, before turning with a questioningly look. The woman introduced Vitra to Falkner, the gym leader and he looked hesitant towards the outside before he resigned and greeted Vitra with a smile. "Welcome to my gym Vitra, I'm busy today it seems but I'd be happy to accept your challenge if you think you are ready!" He said with a wink and gestured for her to follow him to the stairs that lead up to the platform, the woman followed. It turned out it was the battlefield. There were no fences around it. Falkner whistled and a pidgey came flying in from the outside and landed on his outstretched arm. "This is an official gym battle and the rules are as following: I am using two pokemon while you can use your whole team, you are free to switch and heal as needed and if you win you will get a Zephyr Badge as proof," Falkner declared and walked to the opposite end of the battlefield, leaving Vitra at one end. The woman walked to a little fenced area at the side of the battlefield. "Choose your pokemon," the woman declared and Falkner's pidgey flapped to hover in front of him, ready to face whatever Vitra sent at him. When Vitra had also chosen a pokemon to send out the woman looked at both, "Ready? Then the battle is started!" She declared and would watch closely as the referee. Falkner accepts your challenge and sends out his pidgey [lvl 10] (ooc: What ability did you want to your new skitty?)

It was a huge room, but Vitra's eyes were drawn almost immediately toward the platform in the middle: the place where she'd he standing soon, taking on her very first Gym battle. Her stomach clenched with nerves, but the arrival of the woman gave her something else to focus on and she took it gladly. "I am," she replied, and followed when asked, to the table that held a computer. She gave her name and other requested information, and then she turned back to the raised field.
The two trainers who left the field a short time later caught her attention and she straightened, watching as the man with blue hair encouraged the other to train a bit more, to try again soon, and when he turned to face her she felt the nervous fluttering in her belly increase. Her eyes shone at his greeting, nodding along but not quite able to find her voice before he was turning away and she hurried after him after recalling Midori into her pokeball. Oh, she was ready. Nerves or not, she'd trained hard and she was going to give this her best shot!
Standing opposite him on the field and watching as he chose his Pidgey, Vitra took her first choice and tossed it. "I choose Denki!" she called, a grin of utmost excitement spreading across her face as the Pichu emerged. "Denki! Use Charge Beam on that Pidgey!"
"Pichu!" the little yellow mouse-type squeaked, electricity flickering over its body before it fired its attack at the enemy Pidgey.
(Normalize, please! Sorry, I overlooked that doing his stats)

As Falkner waited for Vitra to select a Pokemon he was very eager to see which Pokemon she would choose first. Though some trainers would surprise him with an unexpected choice he was not too surprised to see her use an electric type first. " I see you already know about type advantages. I do warn you though my flying types have plenty of experience dealing with them." Being the smart trainer he was he waited for Vitra to pick her move first so he could try and put a stop to any plans she may of had to use the type advantage Denki had. The move Vitra selected was not one Falkner usually faced but he was ready to counter it nonetheless. " Ah I see, Charge Beam is certainly not a move I see used very often. It can be a very useful move when luck is on your side. Luck works both ways however and Pidgey knows the perfect move to influence luck to be on our side. Pidgey use Sand Attack." Pidgey then hopped over to a pile of sand as Denki built up his electricity. Right before the electricity left his cheeks Pidgey kicked a cloud of sand towards the young electric type. The tiny airborne specks of sand flew right into Denki's eyes just as he fired off his attack messing up his aim. The poorly aimed attack still managed to get lucky however as Pidgey misjudged the direction of the incoming beam taking a direct hit center mass. As the bird was sent flying backwards from the attack Falkner had to admit his plan had failed in the first round but as Denki had no way to remove enough sand during the battle all hope was not lost. As a small amount of electricity formed around Denki's cheeks Falkner had a feeling luck had been even more in favor of Vitra this round as Denki now had a small boost to his Special Attack. " When then, so much for influencing luck that round. This battle is far from over though so there is still time for luck to shift sides."Gym Battle Weather: Clear [attr="class","qkt-bkgd"] [attr="class","qkt-wild-pkmn"] [attr="class","qkt-clip"]Falkner's Pidgey LV 10 HP 61% [19/31] [attr="class","qkt-wild-imgbox"] [attr="class","qkt-pkmn-img"] [attr="class","qkt-trainer-pkmn"] [attr="class","qkt-clip"]Vitra's Denki LV 7 HP 100% [21/21] [attr="class","qkt-trainer-imgbox"] [attr="class","qkt-pkmn-img"] Pidgey [Keen Eye]: Normal Denki [Static]: Special Attack +1, Accuracy -1 SPEED 19 Pidgey used Sand Attack! Falkner's praise warmed Vitra's cheeks, and she ducked her head. "I'm still learning, but I've come a long way since I started!" She glanced at the Pidgey as the Gym leader continued, nodding her understanding. He wouldn't be any challenge if he hadn't taught his pokemon to stand strong in the face of a rival, even one who was technically stronger in type. And as Denki began his attack, the Pidgey made one of his own, kicking up a wave of sand that smacked into the young Pichu's face.
He squealed, the charge of lightning ricocheting off its path as the sand grains stung his eyes, and he rubbed at them with a whimper of discomfort. "Are you okay, Denki?" She took a step closer, but as she did so the Pichu managed to clear enough of the irritating grains to be able to blink open his eyes, and he looked back at Vitra while still scrubbing more of the sand from his face.
"Pichu. Chu," he replied, shaking his head with a flap of his ears and then turned back to the Pidgey. "Pichu!"
"All right then- give it another Charge Beam!"
"Piii-chuuu!" Curling his little arms in, the electric-type let loose another attack, firing it toward the Pidgey again.

Falkner studied the young girl and her reactions to their battle. She certainly was young and had a lot to learn but she handled herself already with confidence and knowhow, it was clear she had been in different kind of battles before and Falkner guessed she wouldn't so easy lose her cool. How good she was to keep focus and pull through a challenge was what he was here to test her in, that she was modest was a good sign. The gym leader looked thoughtful as Vitra calmed down her pichu and gave him his order. "Alright, time to speed things up a bit. Pidgey, hurry in a give it your best Tackle!" Falkner ordered and his bird shot into the air and forced Denki to pause his attack to try aim at where his opponent now was. The pichu had a strong attack but was it defenses just as good? It looked small so Falkner guessed it was still young and then his pidgey should be able to give it some trouble. Pidgey dived and a moment later it slammed into the side of Denki and sent him rolling over the battlefield and Falkner kept a close eye to make sure the pichu didn't risk falling over the edge. Denki was bruised and panting when he came to a halt, he wouldn't be able to endure another one of those tackles. Above him Pidgey soared and chirped happily, it was rare the little bird pokemon got a chance to feel strong, usually it was knocked out pretty quickly and then one of its team mates would give a more proper challenge afterwards. Denki let out a blast of electricity and the pidgey who had been too enthralled by its own attack didn't notice and got shot right out of the sky. It fell like a stone to the battlefield and lay gasping there as well, then it with a surge of determination pulled itself up on its feet, its feathers ruffled and dirty. "Well done Pidgey, that was really impressive," Falkner praised it and it stood a bit more proud. It wouldn't last long but it would fight to the end. Falkner looked at Vitra to see what she would do about this. Falkner's next move was to send Pidgey to tackle Denki, the little bird-type hurtling toward her pokemon; the impact sent the Pichu flying. He hit the ground hard and rolled, the pain of the attack and the aches of his landing making him cry out. He heard Vitra call his name, and with an effort he pushed himself back to his feet, facing the Pidgey again. It took him a moment to remember that he still had to attack- he'd stopped when the Pidgey had made its own attack, but now it was his turn. He fired it off, watching the blast of electricity envelope his avian opponent.
It fell to the ground, looking as ruffled as Denki felt, but after a moment it got back to its feet too. Denki blinked, and just as he started to turn back to Vitra, he heard her call to him. "Denki, come back!"
It was no good to risk him any further. She'd considered using a potion to boost his health to help him last long enough to defeat the Pidgey, but had decided against it in the end- she would, if she had to, but she had plenty of others to step in and take care of this. Denki spun toward her, running back to her with arms outstretched. "Pichu pichu pichu pi-!" He tripped over his own feet when he was just a couple steps from her, and Vitra jerked forward to catch him, scooping the little electric mouse into her arms and hugging him.
"You did great! Rest now, and I'll send out someone else to take over."
"Pichu!" Denki agreed, and snuggled into her embrace while Vitra pulled another pokemon from her waist.
"Midori!" she called, and sent the Ivysaur to face the weakened Pidgey. The grass-type growled as she squared her shoulders and stared at the Pidgey. "Tackle that Pidgey!" she directed, and watched as Midori launched herself across the field to make her attack.

Falkner could not deny that he would have loved a chance for Pidgey to deal a knockout blow but he could not blame Vitra for switching out her Pokemon. Neither Denki or his Pidgey were in great shape but as Falkner did not want to reveal his stronger Pokemon or the trick he had taught it to prolong a battle until it was absolutely necessary. As he knew that her swapping Pokemon would give him a free turn and he had to give his strategy another go even if it had failed him so far. " Pidgey lets use our free turn and try our Sand Attack combo again. It might not have worked as well as we had hoped so far but manipulating luck might still make all the difference in this battle." As the Pidgey scooped up another foot full of sand he flung it right into Midori's face reducing her accuracy however the attack just like before did not cause any damage to her health. As happy as Falkner was to see the attack work again he knew it would take more than a successful Sand Attack to turn this battle around and he was quick to order another attack. " Great work Pidgey but we cannot rest now, it is not very common that we get to face a grass type but we can use our type advantage now that its accuracy is reduced. Try you Gust attack." Before Pidgey could start flapping its wings however Midori quickly closed the gap between the two Pokemon and even half blinded by the sand managed to score a direct hit. Pidgey skid across the ground stopping right in front of Falkner and although he was disappointed that Pidgey had been defeated he had not lost just yet as he recalled the Pokemon. " Great work Pidgey you have earned a rest. Now it is time to use my strongest Pokemon."As he reached into his pocket he grabbed another Pokeball and tossed it at his feet, a larger flying type Pokemon known as Pidgeotto appeared from it and without Falkner saying a word knew that another tough challenger must be in the gym. " Pidgeotto our friend Pidgey tried its best but our challenger was just too tough for it to handle so it is up to you now." With another round about to begin Pidgeotto was quite eager to try and get some revenge for its defeated friend. Falkner's Pidgey made one attack before Midori retaliated, but the sand that struck the Ivysaur's face wasn't enough to send her off course. She had to close her eyes against the grains that stung as they made contact, but she kept on until she felt her head collide with the bird-type and send it flying backwards, tumbling to a halt at its trainer's feet, out cold. Triumph was the first thing she felt, but she couldn't help but feel bad too, for the Pidgey who'd come off worse.
The Pidgeotto who took the Pidgey's place was fresh and strong. Vitra hesitated a moment- still high on the success of her first victory but knowing this wasn't over just yet. Midori hadn't lost any health yet, and with any luck the strategy Vitra had planned would cinch this- and she had plenty of backups to take over if Midori's health dropped too low. "Midori, hit it with a Leech Seed first, and then use your Vine Whip!"
Her heart was in her throat. It would only take one critical hit for Midori to lose her part in the match, but so long as she managed to hit the Pidgeotto with Leech Seed, she could help the rest of the team by weakening their opponent each turn that passed- and if she did manage to use her second move, that would only bring them one step closer. "Come on, Midori- you can do this!"
"Ivy. Sauuur," the grass-type replied, and she fired off both attacks one after the other, determined to do her best to win this fight for Vitra.

The blue-haired GYM leader with long bangs that hid half of his face watched the bright red beam of light release his cherished flying feathered friend with delight. Pidgeotto was swift and agile, with large light brown and cream feathered wings that could carry his bird Pokemon wherever it wanted to go. The battle was starting to get interesting, and Vitra’s stoic green frog-like plant Pokemon Midori made things just as interesting. “Pidgeotto are known for their outstanding vision. Are you ready to see why my Pidgeotto is such a powerful Pokemon?” Falkner called out to Vitra as he nodded to his Pokemon approvingly. “Listen sharp, my feathered friend.” He commanded as the tall dual type avian craned its head around to stare at its trainer with its sharp and almost intimidating eyes. It screeched out a loud shrill and flapped its wings impressively as it lifted itself up off the ground to hover in the air. Small, semi-strong gusts of wind whipped this way and that underneath the Pidgeotto’s wings. “Pidgey has already helped you, though he did not last through the fight. Use your Mud-Slap while the iron’s hot. Then, move in with an offensive gust of wind.” Pidgeotto’s voice rang like a calling card as it used it wings to fly. Only the whooshing sound of the air escaping under its wings seemed to echo a hollow, low tune. The three-foot-tall bird would land just short of Midori before it would spin around to face the opposite direction of the large green plant Pokemon with it’s flowering pink bulb. Pidgeotto used it sharp feet to dig and kick into the ground underneath it, summoning up layers of muddy dirt that it would hurl at its opponent and pummel Midori with. “Keep up the good work, Pidgeotto! You’ve got them where we want them!” Falkner praised his Pokemon as he hopped a bit and clapped excited for his avian friend. Midori seemed to stagger back, then shot out small brown seeds that would land on Pidgeotto and release small green vines that buried in underneath its feathers and drained the bird Pokemon’s health. Pidgeotto struggled against the attack, flapping its wings impressively all about. The large brown bird would stretch out it’s long wings and lift back up into the air. The flying type began flapping its wings as hard and as fast as it could while it hovered in place. Strong gusts of wind started to swell and spiral in a circle in front of Pidgeotto. “Your Midori is impressive,” Falkner scoffed out a simple praise to Vitra, “but it’s no match for my Pidgeotto.” He replied. The strong gusts of wind would rip and tear at Midori, causing small fractured cuts in the Ivysaur’s long leaves, though they would mend and heal with time. Midori focused and tried to summon her vines to whip and lash at the other Pokemon. However, the sand and muddy debris clung to the grass type’s face and made it hard for her to focus. Midori’s long green vines ineffectively lashed at just the air around her, hitting and whipping nothing at all. Vitra knew this battle, as important as it was, wouldn't be easy to win. She'd defeated one opponent so far, but the stronger faced her now, wide wings and focused gaze on Midori. This was the harder of the two her team had to beat in order to win the battle, and she could only hope she hadn't overestimated her Pokemon and their strength. She frowned, glanced at her Ivysaur, and then spoke. "We're going to win."
The Pidgeotto was the first to move, darting toward Midori before turning its back on her, three-toed feet kicking up a wave of grit that pummeled the Ivysaur; Midori wasn't fast enough to turn her head away from the initial shower that smacked her in the face, but she was quick enough to fire her seeds at the big avian while it was so close, though she wasn't sure until she heard Vitra's cheer that her attack had landed true. Still, she wasn't able to open her eyes, the wind increasing and buffeting her mercilessly, her leaves lashing back and forth under the Gust attack.
Her next move failed, the vines unable to find their target in the heavy wind, when she couldn't open her eyes to see. More sand pricked against her hide, stirred up by the relentless wind, and after a moment of trying Midori retracted her vines. She used a foot to rub at her eyes, clearing them as best she could and then turning to fire a glare at the Pidgeotto again. This wasn't over, and she wasn't done yet.
And Vitra wasn't going to let herself think anything less than the best of her team. "She's more than a match for your pokemon! Come on, Midori, you can do this- use your Vine Whip again!" At her side, Denki lifted his small arms and cheered as well, encouraging his teammate to keep going for as long as she could.

Falkner loved Vitra's determination however determination alone was not going to win this battle so long as his Pidgeotto could keep its health high enough to overcome the leech seed slowly sapping its health. As important as keeping his Pokemon healthy was it was just as important to keep causing damage and as Pidgeotto was not in danger of being knocked out yet he had to stay aggressive to win this battle. The time for his Pidgeotto's signature move would indeed come this battle as the Leech Seed would force him into using it but for now attacking was the best option. " I must say your strategy is working quite well so far. Very rarely does a grass type give me so much trouble but I still have a few tricks to pull before this battle is over." He said as Pidgeotto stood by ready to attack with all of its might. The avian Pokemon was really not feeling quite as powerful as it usually did but that only pushed it to fight even harder. " I think we will keep taking advantage of your type advantage and use Gust again." He ordered as Pidgeotto started to build up a strong gust sending various debris towards Midori causing quite a bit of damage. As powerful as the attack was Midori was able to endure it again as she unleashed her Vine Whip on the bird Pokemon. Pidgeotto then felt the leech seed drain more energy and restore more of Midori's health helpless to stop the parasitic plant no matter what it did. " Hang in there Pidgeotto, it won't be long until we can take advantage of our special move and start to turn this battle around." He said trying to comfort the ailing bird fully aware that Pidgeotto could only go another round of two safely before being forced to show the ace up his sleeve. The acknowledgement of her Ivysaur's skill made Vitra beam, but it was a short-lived triumph- the warning faded her bright grin and made her more wary. What special move was he talking about? She'd seen three so far, and she wondered what this unknown fourth move was, that seemed to make Falkner confident that it would give him an edge over her and Midori. Well, she'd have to wait and see, she supposed. For now, all she could do was push on and do her best to keep on wearing down the health of the Pidgeotto.
This time, though the Gust attack was no less powerful, Midori was able to lash out and make contact with her vines, slashing them at the bird-type, her eyes squinted nearly closed against the rush of wind. That, and the seeds she'd embedded among her opponent's feathers, both served to weaken it further and to build Midori's own health up just a bit. With any luck she could withstand another round, Vitra thought- if not, she'd have to bring in another backup to take over.
"We came to win, and we're not leaving without that Zephyr Badge! You got this, Midori; give it another Vine Whip attack!"
"Ivysaur!" the grass-type replied, the pitch of her voice all too agreeable, and she unwound her vines once more, sending them hurtling toward the Pidgeotto while bracing herself for whatever attack came in return.
((I forgot to say this earlier and idk if it still matters, but I'll pass on Sweet Kiss.))

As the next round got underway Midori had a sudden burst of energy as his trainers confidence inspired him to get the jump on Pidgeotto. The Ivysaur unleashed a series of vines aimed at the avian Pokemon however despite its enthusiastic mood the accuracy loss finally proved to be too much as the vines suddenly veered left and right of the bird and harmlessly struck the wall behind Pidgeotto. Falkner was quite pleased to see luck be on his side for once as it meant Pidgeotto would take less damage this round but he still did not want to unveil his secret move just yet. His feeling was that taking advantage of his good luck this round would be the better option and save his signature move until the next round as it was a worthwhile risk to take. " I give you credit, I would have been forced to use my signature move this round had that Vine Whip hit. With one less danger to face this round though I will risk saving it to stay on the offensive. Pidgeotto use your Gust attack again." As he ordered the attack Pidgeotto kicked up another strong gust nailing Midori with yet another helping of flying debris leaving her in the danger zone of being knocked out in the next blow. " I commend you for fighting so well and if you do win this battle your badge will be well earned. With that being said I have a feeling you won't like my Pidgeotto very much next round." Midori then recovered a small amount of health from the Leech Seed still sapping Pidgeotto's energy but even that could not give her enough health to safely endure another hit. As Falkner waited for Vitra to make her next move he had no doubts what he would do next. Midori's burst of enthusiasm made Vitra smile, but she had to fight the disappointment from showing on her face as it went wide, missing the Pidgeotto completely. The bird-type was quick to retaliate with another Gust, and Vitra rocked back on her heels for a moment, trying to decide her next move. If she kept Midori out, she'd have to give her a potion- something to boost her health so she could keep on battling the Pidgeotto.
Or she could switch in another of her pokemon and let them have a try at wearing down their opponent. Were they strong enough, though? Each of them had struggled in the battle against Raju, and this one was even stronger. She could try Raju himself, she supposed... but she still held back from summoning the Taillow, uncertain if that was smart. Midori was her strongest, and if a single potion was the cost, why not?
Or. Her eyes flicked down to Denki, who sat at her side. He was weaker, but electric types did have an edge over flying. Maybe if she gave him the boost, he could do enough damage to give them an edge? She still felt confident that she could win this, she had strength and numbers and the Pidgeotto was looking a little tired... but there was still that move Falkner was talking about that she was still unaware of. Maybe it was better, for now, to keep Midori out, since she was the strongest of the team.
Okay. Dragging a potion from her bag, Vitra darted over and knelt beside her Ivysaur to administer it, gently patting her first, her starter, as she did so. When that was done, the effect kicking in quickly as she retreated to safety, the young girl finally gave her pokemon direction. "Midori, use Focus Energy!" Vine Whip might be the wrong way to go about this. But the Ivysaur had another move, one that she hadn't used before because of the recoil- but it might just do the trick, working with the continued effect of Leech Seed, to give them their victory.
