Julie would have kicked a rock from frustration into the grass. Her parents had decided that before Julie could "venture off into the world", they must move to New Bark Town and get a fresh "new" start. All that meant for Julie was saying good-bye to the monks, and moving farther back for her adventure to begin. Julie was, however, slightly glad that the ground here was flat enough to go at extremely fast speeds on, at least on a wheelchair.
Julie sat on the front porch of her new house with a Bulbasaur napping on her lap, taking in her surroundings. Her blue backpack sat beside her in a lumpy state. Her mother and father suddenly appeared from inside the house onto the porch.
"Oh, I can't believe our little Juu-wee Doll is growing up!" her mother said, cuddling the teen. Julie groaned and the Bulbasaur stirred for a moment before going back into sleep.
"Don't call me that, Mom! Not while we're outside!" she whined.
"Don't talk to strangers, mind your manners, eat your veggies, make sure to avoid hills and bumpy paths, if you get tired don't stop in the middle of the forest of road you're on to take a nap, don't get into trouble, oh, and be sure to check up on us!" her mother said in seemingly one breath. Her father chuckled, and gave Julie a quick hug.
"Take care, Julie," he said. As Julie's mother stepped inside, her father looked around and handed her an package wrapped in butcher paper. It was slightly rectangular and lumpy at the top, as though it held two objects.
"From your extensive collection. Your Mom'd chew me out if she knew," he chuckled. Julie laughed as well.
"Thanks, Dad." Her father soon disappeared into the house. Julie sighed, slipped the package into her backpack before placing it on the handlebars in the back of her wheelchair.
"Oh, come on, Nano wake up!" Julie said, poking the Pokemon. The Bulbasaur yawned and looked at its Trainer sleepily.
"Ready to go?"
"SAUR!" Nano said somewhat enthusiastically (it was still groggy).
"All Right! And thus, we venture forth!" Julie proceeded to roll down the porch's ramp, through New Bark, and off onto Route 29.

[[OOC: Sorry about my lame post. I’m rushing a small bit at the moment.]]
Julie continued down the grassy path with Nano clinging to her lap. The little Bulbasaur was still yawning. It covered its head again. The sun was shining in its face. “Bulba,” it moaned. The ground was relatively flat, making it easier for Julie to move. She was after making a lot of ground already. Nano’s ears suddenly began to twitch. The Bulbasaur could hear a rustling sound. It started to get louder as Julie approached it. It was coming from a small berry tree. Julie screamed as she heard a snapping noise. A bird Pokémon fell backwards, cracking the branch it was perched on. Both came crashing to the ground. Nano was fully-awake now. It watched as the little bird Pokémon got up and shook its head. It was a Starly. There was something in its mouth. It appeared to be some sort of fruit – a Yache Berry. “Starly,” it chirped. It began to jump around frantically. Julie and her Pokémon watched the little bird panic. It was trying to figure out how to get back in the tree. Then, spotting Nano staring at it, Starly dived in front of its berry, as if to protect it. “Starrrr,” it squeaked. “Saur,” Nano replied, standing up. They seemed to be getting ready to battle.

"Yay! Our first battle!" Julie said excitedly. She, in the midst of excitement, then remembered she actually had to battle.
"GO, NANO!" The Bulbasaur jumped off her lap and onto the ground in front of her.
"Bulbasaur!" Nano said, with much enthusiasm.
"Use Tackle, Nano!" The Bulbasaur launched itself at the Starly.
[[OCC: mmm, Yache Berries... and no bother. Mine kinda sucks, but it's my first RP battle ^-^;]]

[[OOC: That's cool. Just do your best. ^_^ Sorry for the delay.]]
Julie felt very relaxed for her first battle. She was really excited. She was finally getting the chance to battle a wild Pokémon. Nano was leaping around. The Bulbasaur was full of energy. It pounced at the Starly, starting with an offensive move. Starly was forced a few feet backwards. The bird Pokémon mimicked its foe by using a Tackle of its own. Nano skidded from the force of the attack. Although it had a type disadvantage, it appeared that Nano would be okay for this battle. The wild Starly was too young and inexperienced to have learned any flying-type moves yet. "Staarr," Starly squawked, protecting its berry. It glared at Julie and Nano. It seemed to be a little selfish, but that wasn't uncommon for young Pokémon. It was probably just a little scared. "Uhm, use Growl, Nano!" Julie said. It wasn't an offensive move, she knew, but maybe she could weaken the Starly's attacks.
Nano let out a threatening "BULBA!"

Nano ran up close to the Starly again. This time, the Bulbasaur used a Growl attack. “Saur!” it roared. Starly’s attack fell. The bird Pokémon decided to stick with an offensive move. It repeated its last move, using another Tackle. Nano skidded as the foe hit it straight on. Starly quickly ran back to where it had dropped its berry. It watched closely as Nano got to its feet. The two Pokémon locked eyes again and prepared for their next moves. Battle Starly | Level 5 | Health: 72% Status: Attack (-1) Item: Yache Berry Nano | Level 5 | Health: 70% Status: Normal

"Alright, another Tackle, Nano!" Julie said.
'Wow, battling's not as hard as I thought it would be!' she thought.

[[OOC: Would you be able to increase your post length slightly? You’re doing great other than that. Your first post was awesome. Five or six sentences are enough. I know it’s hard to write about battles. Maybe you could describe how Julie feels or say something about the Pokémon’s appearance?]]
The wild Starly decided on another Tackle. Its repetitive use of the same move showed that it was more of an offensive Pokémon. It crashed into Nano, damaging its hit points again. Nano fought back with another Tackle, sending Starly flying back to where its berry was. The bird Pokémon’s eyes locked on the Bulbasaur. The battle was getting serious. Nano, however, seemed to be enjoying its first battle. It watched carefully so the foe couldn’t make any surprise moves. [ooc: sorry ^^;]
Julie noticed that her Bulbasaur was starting to look a little scruffed up during the battle. Then again, the Starly looked in worse shape. Should she capture the Starly now? Or should Nano use Tackle one more time? Julie rolled her wheelchair back and forth slightly in thought.
"One more Tackle, Nano!" she decided. Her Bulbasaur gave a triumphant sort of roar in reply.

The Starly attacked with a Tackle again, as Julie had expected. The bird Pokémon did sufficient damage to its foe. "Staar," it squawked. It jumped in front of its berry again, selfishly. It seemed that it wasn't concentrating on the battle. It was too busy fussing over the Yache Berry. Julie's Bulbasaur locked eyes on Starly and charged at the bird, full speed. It crashed into it, sending Starly flying back into a tree from a Critical Hit. The bird Pokémon was lying flat on the ground from Nano's attack. The Starly started to look really dazed, and well, still overly protective of its Yache. It started to slowly try and get up to protect it once again. Julie dug in her blue backpack and pulled out a Pokeball. Hopefully this would be her first (successful) capture.
"Go, Pokeball!" Julie said, throwing the capturing device.

Julie tossed the Pokéball into the air. Starly was was watching its berry closely. It wasn't even paying attention to Julie anymore. "Staarly," it squealed, noticing the ball. Julie watched as the Pokéball opened. Starly disappeared with a flash of light. The Pokéball dropped to the place where Starly had stood. The ball began shaking as Starly tried to resist capture. Maybe, the bird would calm down if Julie caught it. "Babasaur," Nano cried, nervously. Julie couldn't take her eye off the ball. She began breathing heavily as she clenched her fists.

Julie rolled over to the Pokeball and picked it up. "Yes!" Julie did a triumphant fist pump when she noticed the state of health Nano was in. "Oh, you really took a toll there, didn't you sweetie?" She rolled over to the Bulbasaur, picked it up and cuddled it. Julie then proceeded to use a Potion on it. Nano did a happy sort of "Saur!" as it started getting comfortable on Julie's lap. "Alright, time to check out our new buddy, Starly, huh?" Julie asked. She took the Pokeball and pressed the release button. A red beam shot out onto the ground and the Starly appeared. It still held the Yache Berry in its mouth. "Oh, you look battered up too!" Julie rolled over to the Starly, but before the girl could use another Potion, the Starly pecked her arm. "OUCH!" Julie rubbed her arm. The Starly chirped, almost in a smug tone. "Can't you see I'm trying to help you?" Julie asked. The Starly cocked its head. Julie tried one more time to heal the Pokemon, and surprisingly enough, it didn't peck her until she got done. "Alright, what shall we call you..? Nano, any ideas?" The Bulbasaur was almost in half-sleep again and just looked up at her. "Oh, well.. let's see... how about Quark?" The Starly hopped and pecked her on the leg. "Sorry, buddy, that's not going to work. How about Courage?" Once again, the Starly pecked her on the leg. "Oh, why don't I just call you Obedience?" The Starly hopped up and down, obviously pleased with the name. "Well, now that we've got your name figured out, are you female-" The Starly pecked her arm this time in an insulted way. "Okay, okay. You're male. Anyways, it's time to go back into your capsule, okay Obedience?" The Starly was starting to peck at its Yache Berry when Julie pressed the button on its Pokeball again, this time the beam retreating back into the ball. Julie then placed it in her backpack. "Ready to go, Nano?" The Bulbasaur made a sleepy growl and Julie started rolling off onto the grassy path again. ------------------- {OCC} StarlyName: Obedience Gender: Male Level: 5 Attacks: Tackle, Growl, Quick Attack Item: Yache Berry

[[OOC: Your Pokémon will automatically heal after every battle until you get your first gym badge. Your Potions are safe for now. xD Unless you need them in an actual battle which probably shouldn’t be a problem. Btw, you never gave a nature for Obedience. What one would you like?]]
After catching her first Pokémon, Julie decided it was time to move on. She continued down the grassy path. The weather was still relatively good. Julie and her Bulbasaur felt really relaxed. The stress of the battle was finally over. Julie could continue her journey and hopefully get to Cherrygrove. She wheeled down the path, keeping a look out for Pokémon and trainers. There were noises coming from all around her. She could hear Pokémon and trainers and their footsteps. Just then, Julie heard a trainer and his Pokémon. He was treating it pretty harshly. He saw Julie staring at him and glared back at her. “What’s your problem?” he shouted. “You want a battle?” He had a snobby look on his face. He had long red hair and was dressed in black. He had a fire Pokémon by his side. Julie recognised it to be a Cyndaquil. “What are you waiting for?” the boy snarled.

[[Occ: "!" Thanks for telling me that Well, I guess Obedience is of Impish nature]] 'Well, that was certainly sudden,' Julie thought. "Go, Obedience!" Julie pulled the Pokeball out of her backpack and pressed the release button. A red light beamed out and the selfish Starly appeared, holding onto its Yache. It immediately, after fluttering and hopping back over to Julie, pecked her on the arm. "OUCH! Stop that! We've got a battle, Obedience!" Julie could hear the other Trainer snicker at the misnomer. The Starly looked back at the other Trainer and hopped back over to its original spot.
