History:
As a newborn baby, Tai was dropped off in the middle of the night in a picnic basket at the front door of the Celadon City Hospital with no accompanying note to indicate who his birth parents were. The nurse that found him that night was a middle-aged Japanese lady known as Hikaru, her name meaning ‘to shine’ in Japanese. Hikaru took the newborn in and utilized her workplace to its full capacity to care for the young baby for his immediate future. Hikaru decided to name the baby Taiki Touki, that name meaning ‘Big’ and ‘Fighting Spirit’ respectively in Japanese. Once Tai was in good health as a baby, Tai was put up for adoption and then eventually adopted by an American couple known as the Frazier’s. Joseph and Linda Frazier, Tai's new adopted parents were the former owners of the Celadon City Department Store and had both retired from work to start a family of their own, however as they would come to find out, they were unable to have children and therefore decided to adopt and when at the adoption clinic it was love at first sight when they had heard of Tai's story and seen the little guy.
As a youngster Tai was like so many other kids growing up, always looking to fight and cause trouble, he was definitely wild in comparison to his current self, he was always found doing daredevil like acts. Tai’s wild side ended up costing him one day in his pre-teen years when he had been playing outdoors with his friends like so many days before. Tai ended up having to have an above-the-elbow amputation after trying to show off to his friends by jumping from one construction beam to the next, albeit this time luck was not on his side as he tripped as he went to jump, hit his head on a beam and was knocked unconscious with his arm trapped. Tai ended up being rushed to hospital and his right arm was amputated as he was also left with a jagged pink scar that runs across the bridge of his nose. Tai's adopted parents paid for him to get a prosthetic arm and life from this point onwards was very different for Tai as he begun to appreciate how lucky he truly was after all.
In his teenage years, Tai worked as a newspaper delivery boy to source his own income so as not not leech of his adopted parents given they had already done so much for him. Tai throughout his teenage years also took a strong liking to reading manga and watching anime in his downtime when not studying for school tests or working, he would often be found at the department store purchasing packs of pokemon cards and playing the TCG with his friends while consuming unhealthy amounts of snacks.
Tai had decided by the time that he turned sixteen that he wanted to one day become a Pokémon Master, first though he wanted to look a bit more presentable and thus started to workout at the Celadon City gym. Tai was used to people staring at his prosthetic arm and scar on his face, however his serious looking demeanor often scared people away from asking him about it, however when people did ask him, Tai would give the time out of his day to explain that it was his reckless childhood that had made him into who he was today.
Tai’s adopted parents were fairly strict in regards to Tai’s education and insisted that he pursued a university degree after finishing his high school years. Tai was not going to let his adopted parents down and ended up completing a business information technology bachelors degree having studied full time for three years at Celadon University (CelU).
