A cool shiver rushed down Platinum's back as the young, indigo-haired trainer glanced up at the deep bluish-grey sky. "I wasn't expecting it to be so cold here. It feels like I'm back in the Sinnoh Region right now." She spoke out in a soft tone as her piercing electrum-hued eyes took in the sight of the beautiful blanket of forest covering the towering pine trees, the small bushes, and the ground underneath her small feet. It was a good thing that she had decided to switch out a v-neck mini dress out for her thick sweater dress and winter boots. "Pip! Pip!" Monroe shouted with excitement as she jumped down from her trainer's shoulder and landed onto the ice-cold ground. The small penguin-like Pokemon would start to run circles around her trainer while enjoying the pleasure of the fresh frost between her feet. "Well, at least one of us is going this." Platinum giggled, shaking her head before moving a little bit closer towards Brenton, her Ponyta, taking advantage of his flames to help keep her warm. "Alright team, it's time to focus. We need to find some new Pokemon to scan for the Pokedex. Of course, we will need to train against some Wild Pokemon, too to help make you all stronger. We have to start preparing for the gym that is waiting for us in Violet City," She explained to her Pokemon. Monroe eventually start running around in circles and stood beside her trainer with a more serious expression on her face. "It's a little cold, but that shouldn't stop Wild Pokemon from coming out to play. So, let's test our luck and see what we can find." She stated, a smile o her face as she lead her small team of Pokemon towards the grassy route.

The autumn frost left a soft white blanket that coated the tops of the trees and brownish-green grasses. It was a precipice to the impending freezing weather that lurked around the corner, a footnote to the winter remained hidden but not entirely forgotten. The gentle breeze that crept across the land was chilly to say the least, hinting at the frost with their icy touch and a humidity that buried through the layers to create a wet cold that seemed to seep through layers of clothes and chill some to the bone. While some Pokemon who were born of ice and snow would enjoy the change of pace with the frosty weather, many would not. Several of the Pokemon that frequented the route had placed themselves up inside of their holes early on to steal the cold weather in hopes that as the day wore on the sun would burn away the frost and permeate a heat just strong enough to beckon in more balmy temperatures that they could tolerate. One Pokemon was caught out in the chilly weather, scurrying through the thick undergrowth as the tall grasses rustled to denote the purple rodent’s movements. As Platinum and her troupe approached, the purple rodent paused and tilted its head to listen. A devious smile crept over its face before it would jut out into front of the team. The Rattata’s face dropped and it dragged one of its back legs across the ground. It pretended to limp and let its tongue fall out of its mouth with its lower jaw crooked at an odd angle as though it might be hurt. “Heelpp...meee!” The purple rodent cried before collapsing on the ground in a huddled heap. It wanted Platinum to feel oh so bad for the ‘poh widdle rodent’ like most of those sympathetic trainers tended to do. If it worked, the rodent would try to shake her for whatever she was worth – hopefully something tasty that it could steal and run away with. After all, weren’t most trainers dumb and naïve when they started out on their Pokemon journey? A wild Rattata [Level 3] is hurt?! Who did this?!

Platinum and her Pokemon came to a quick halt the second the small group heard the sound of the rustling bush not too far away from them. "Do you guys hear that? I think we're about to encounter our first Pokemon!" Platinum stated, a huge grin starting to form against her soft lips. She would move a little bit closer towards the rustling grass with her Pokemon copying her movements from behind.
"Wah!" Platinum shouted, being taken aback by the swift blur of purple that jetted out of the tall grass. She was able to reach into her bag to retrieve her Pokedex but soon stopped when she noticed that the purple mouse-like creature did not seem too in good condition health-wise. "Aww, no! I think it's injured!" She cried out, rushing over to the Rattata. "Hey, little guy...Are you okay?" She asked, kneeling down a bit to get a better view of the wild Pokemon.
"Hey! Hey! What happened?!" Monroe asked the Wild Pokemon, rushing over to its aide. The Rattata had managed to win over Platinum and Monroe, but Brenton wasn't too impressed with its tactics. The fire horse could sense that something is a little off with the mouse Pokemon. However, he decided not to make too much of a scene. He figured that he would just stand back and observe from afar for now.

The sneaky Rattata thought it was about to score big as Platinum kneeled down to check on it. The rat Pokemon was so close to making off with anything it could get it's paws on. Having pulled the same scheme a few other times Rattata was perhaps a bit too confident as Platinum's bag remained just out of reach. Brenton was also already suspicious of the rat and as the Rattata made a desperate reach to grab Platinum's bag the fire horse was proven correct in his mistrust. Rattata realized the fake injury routine was not going to work anymore as it quickly ran from Platinum trying to get some distance before her other Pokemon could attack. " Rattttttttaaaaaaaaaaaa" It screeched out as it watched the young trainer and her Pokemon. Though there was no doubt Rattata was in good shape by now it was also quite clear that the rat Pokemon was not just going to give up and abandon it's chance to grab some goodies. Battles were not the way it liked to steal things however if a battle was the only way to get whatever goodies Platinum had it was going to give it everything it had. Even the frosty weather was not going to break the determined spirit of Rattata as it waited for Platinum to select a Pokemon. Rattata (Level 3) was faking it's injuries but still refuses to leave without either your bag or a battle. Will you give up your bag or fight? If you wish to fight please select a Pokemon.

"Ahh!" Platinum yelled, quickly placing her hands over her sensitive ears to protect herself from the loud screech escaping from the mouse Pokemon's mouth. She stood back onto her feet and took a few steps away from the Rattata, her metallic eyes glaring down at the Wild Pokemon with dismay. "What's going on? There's no way that you should have made a quick recovery like that without a potion or healing move." She pointed out with a small frown showing across her face.
Brenton let out a loud snort as he stomped his diamond-hard hooves against the frosted ground underneath his feet. As expected, The Rattata could not be trusted. The fire horse would give the Wild Pokemon one final warning glare to encourage him to back away from Platinum or make its exit before he makes it his business to take care of it.
Monroe blinked a couple of times, feeling slightly confused by the Rattata's actions. However, the second she noticed that the Wild Pokemon was eyeing her trainer's bag she immediately took a defensive stance. "You tricked us! You're going to play for that, rat!" Monroe shouted at the Wild Pokemon. The penguin Pokemon extended her small wings as she closed her eyes, light blue ball of pulsating water between her wings before sending forth the orb of water at the opponent.

The furry purple rodent frowned when it noticed that this group of travelers wasn’t falling so easily to its tricks. Worse yet, they were determined to fight the rodent off before the Rattata could make away with the goodies. Could the rodent pull on their heartstrings one more time? “Ya don’t know what it’s like out here in the wild.” It pointed out, lifting on of its paws to point a claw at the small blue Penguin who insisted that she would make the rodent pay for tricking them. “Out here with no food...little water...” The Rattata’s eyes widened and it feigned a sad look as it allowed the corners of its eyes to dampen with tears. The purple rodent pounded its tail against the ground and shot across the terrain like an exploding bottle rocket. Its feet quickly raced through the tall frosty grasses whose brownish-green blades swayed in odd directions to give away where the rodent was moving next. Monroe jumped up onto a large rock as the Rattata shot out through the grass. The purple rodent nimbly spun around and launched itself into the air, catching Monroe on the rock and knocking her off with a powerful Tackle. “You gotta take what you want if you want to survive out here. Ya plushy-comfy types wouldn’t know nuttin about that.” The Rattata insisted. Monroe immediately stood back up and fired of a powerful pulse of water that knocked the Rattata over and drained most of its health. Monroe did not even bother to flinch when the purple mouse-like Pokemon pointed its sharp claw at her and attempted to explain the reason behind its behavior. "Just save it! There's no way that you're going to be able to talk me out of this! You decide to pick with the wrong ones today!" Monroe replied, poking her chest out a little bit more as she stood her ground and watched the Rattata rush towards her. "It's so fast! Monroe, be careful!" Platinum stated out in awe as she retrieved her Pokedex and scanned the Rattata. "Time to learn more about Rattata," she addes, waiting for her Pokedex to gather up its information. The Mouse Pokémon, Rattata. It likes cheese, nuts, fruits, and berries. It also comes out into open fields to steal food from stupid travelers. The Pokedex read aloud. Platinum's soft pale face immediately turned a light shade of pink as she raised her left hand and rubbed the back of her neck. "Well...I suppose it's a good thing that we didn't fall for it." She chuckled, glancing over at Brenton, who was too focused on the battle to respond. Platinum turned her attention back towards the battle after realizing that she needed to give Monroe a command. "You're doing great, Monroe! You've weakened it enough to capture." She pointed out, digging into her bag and pulling out a Poke Ball. Within the flick of a wrist the red and white orb went soaring towards the Rattata.

Rattata was in a very bad spot and though it would never admit it there was no real hope of it making a clean getaway. The young rat would not even be able to endure a pound attack from Monroe yet alone another Water Pulse. It's pride was damaged however surrender was never an option as it vowed to fight to the bitter end. " You may defeat me but my comrades will have the last laugh. Act superior all you wish but being wild is where you can unlock your true strength." Before it could launch an attack however Platinum had already tossed a Pokeball at it. Rattata tried it's best to dodge it but Water Pulse had caused so much damage the pain and exhaustion were slowing it down too much however and the ball struck Rattata in the tail. As the rat disappeared in a bright flash the sneaky Pokemon tried to bite the internals of the ball and scratch the sides as well in a desperate bid to remain free. The desperate acts were futile however as it was too weak to break open the ball as it shook violently three times. A moment later a loud click signaled the end of the battle as Rattata had run out of both time and chances to escape. The once proud free Rattata was now owned by Platinum whether it liked it or not. Monroe on the other hand had proven her point as she celebrated both her victory and the Rattata being brought to justice. It would not be able to pray on dumb trainers any longer unlike it's smarter comrades. Monroe gained 2 levels and is now level 7. Brenton gained 1 level from his exp share. He is now level 2. Rattata has been captured. Platinum's metallic orbs watched as the red and white rock back and forth a few times before it came to a halt. "Yes! We did Monroe! We just captured our first Pokemon in the Johto Region!" Platinum shouted out in pure bliss while leaping into the air and striking a pose. The moment her feet touched back down onto the frosted ground, she would walk over to retrieve the Poke Ball containing her newly captured Rattata. Monroe shook her head and waddled over to Brenton. The Piplup and Ponyta were still in somewhat disbelief that their trainer had decided to catch the thieving mouse Pokemon.
"Monroe! You did a great job!" She complimented, tucking the Poke Ball away then shifting her attention towards her Pokemon. "Alright, Let's keep looking around here and see what other Pokemon might be hiding around here." She suggested with a warm smile as she started to lead her small army across the quiet path.

The gentle breeze that swept across the land brought in the slight chill on the air that caused most people to bundle up into their thick jackets. Though the route lay open like a barren wasteland of trees and tall, frost covered grasses, soft rustling through the forested region denoted that they were never quite alone. The blur of colors may have flickered in and out of view – soft browns and sometimes pinks that darted through the canopies and disappeared long before Platinum would have had a chance to stop them. Dark purples, bright pinks, and the occasional browns that rustled in between the tall green grasses, shuffling and shifting until they scurried off farther down the route or into underground tunnels that would be nigh impossible to track and trace. Platinum and her team would wonder into a thick grove of trees as they traveled. Though the forest was full of trees, spinning this way and that, these would prove nearly impossible to traverse through. Though as soon as they tried to turn around, something rustled in the treetops and cawed loudly from up above. “GO HOME!” It warned and hissed, fluttering from one branch to the other, making sure to keep out of view. The hidden creature seemed to cause the entire tree to shimmy and shake as it wiggled all of the branches of several tall Oak and Pine trees. “WE EAT TRAVELERS! OH SO TASTY!” The loud caws only intensified as the Pokemon would seemingly try to drive them into the overgrown thicket of trees and away from the only real travelable path. When Platinum and her team would have to decide that running away was not feasible due to their own real option being blocked, and would try to push past the bird (whether by pleading with it, threatening it, or what have you), the small dull brown bird would land on the ground before them, kicking up a gust of sand and debris that spun erratically in different directions. “I said GO AWAY!” It chirped loudly, preparing to rush at the trainer and attack her! Platinum and her small army of Pokemon continued to travel along the peaceful route leading them through the tall grassy area and into the direction of an enchanting forest. Platinum's keen eyes carefully studying her surroundings as she keep walking ahead until she encountered a dead end. "What? You've got to be kidding me...How in the heck are we supposed to make it through here?" She asked, a deep sigh escaping from her lips. She glanced over at Monroe and Brenton with a little bit of hope that her Pokemon would be able to find a way. Pip! Piplup!" Monroe chirped before using her sharp beak to peak at one of the trees blocking off the path. "Nice try Monroe, but I don't think that's going to work." Platinum giggled, shaking her head at Monroe's attempt. "Ponyta!" Brenton neighed, moving a little closer to the trees. "Yeah, it's probably not going to be a smart move to use flames either. We wouldn't want to start a forest fire," she added. The small trio soon turned their attention away from the grove of trees after hearing an extremely loud cawing noise coming from above them. "Hey! Who's there! Come on out and stop hiding!" Monroe called out to the mysterious bird Pokemon. "Ha! Nice try, but we're not going anyway! We're not afraid of your little empty threats!" Monroe shouted out, waving her tiny wings into the air. "Seriously, what's going on now?" The indigo-haired trainer asked her Piplup, watching Monroe's entire mood change. She turned around and swiftly took notice of the small Pidgey blocking their way. "Ah, I see what is going on now. What is wrong with the Pokemon on this route. They're so...aggressive!" She stated, shielding her face from the whirling dust. Once the gust of dust faded away, Platinum took out her Pokedex to take a quick scan of the Pidgey. "Pidgey. The Tiny Bird Pokemon. Very docile. If attacked, it will often kick up sand to protect itself rather than fight back." "Well, this one is a lot more than docile... We need to get past that Pidgey, so if it wants a fight then that's what we're going to give it! Monroe use Pound!" She commanded her Piplup. "Pip! Pip!" Monroe chirped, rushing towards the Pidgey with her glowing wing, hoping to strike it with a hard Pound.

Empty threats they were indeed. The small brown bird had no inclination to back up its threats. When the small blue penguin called out to the dull brown bird in her threatening voice, the Pidgey flapped its wings and rose up high into the air. It circled overhead and called out to the small blue bird on the ground below it. “Why won’t you go home?!” The Pidgey had no idea that it was blocking their only exit path out of the forest. It was only focused on the nest that was tucked up high in the tree, precariously dangling on the branch at an odd angle. If Platinum was carefully observing the ground around her, she might notice bits of broken eggshells from the two eggs that had already fallen out of the nest some time earlier. Now, the Pidgey needed to protect the two remaining eggs in the nest. They were its lifeline! The Pidgey dived down at the other bird and swooped in close. When the dull brown bird neared Monroe, she pulled herself up to outstretch her wings and reach out with her claws expectantly to try to chase Monroe away. Monroe puffed up and jumped at the bird, causing the Pidgey to swing back up into the air, flip around dramatically, and ram itself into the small blue penguin. “Don’t you know we eat trainers?! You don’t want to be eaten, do you!?” The bird cawed, but Monroe was already in full swing now. She jumped up onto a small rock and began smacking the bird several times with her small, stubby wings until the Pidgey fell to the ground. It cawed loudly from the pain, rolled around in the dirt a bit, then lifted itself back into the air as it kept its eyes pressed on its opponents with worry in its eyes. "We're not going home. We're out here to train and become stronger! We were trying to leave this path and take another one, but you're blocking our way out!" Monroe yelled at the Pidgey right before the dull brown flying-type Pokemon decided to tackle her.
The small penguin stumbled back a bit from the impact of the attack, but she was quick to recover and strike the pigeon-like Pokemon with her short wings. "If you're going to eat me then stop talking about it and just do it! Haven't you ever heard not to play around with your food?" She asked, taking a few steps away from her opponent.
Platinum was too engaged in the battle at the moment to notice the broken eggshells on the ground not too far away from her. "We need to do a little bit more damage, Monroe. Let's try Water Pulse this time!" She ordered her Pokemon. The Piplup nodded her head and prepared to launch a Water Pulse at her opponent at the right time.

Pidgey was quite annoyed that it's threats to eat Monroe's trainer still failed to strike any fear into the young Piplup yet alone cause her or her trainer to leave. If there was any good news for Pidgey it was that so far Monroe could not quite cause enough damage to be a serious threat however even a wild Pidgey knew how dangerous a trainers Pokemon could be if left unchecked. " I will force you to leave one way or another. You will never get stronger using such a weak Pound. Go home before you get roughed up more than you already are." As the wild Pidgey heard Monroe call out another move it was clear that they were not going to back down no matter what. " Fine then, don't back down. I will defeat you and make you wish you took my offer of mercy when you had the chance. I hope you liked my last Tackle as here comes another one." Pidgye then rushed towards Monroe and tackled her with all of it's might. Getting so close this time however was a bad idea as a spherical wave of water slammed into Pidgey as soon as it completed the tackle. Lucky was on the Pidgey's side as it avoided confusion and the damage was not as much as it could have been. Even so it was a nasty shock for the bird who was not expecting such a move. " What did you just hit me with? No matter a single lucky strike like that will not change the result of this battle. I look forward to bringing you down a peg or two once I defeat you."Wild Encounter Weather: Clear [attr="class","qkt-bkgd"] [attr="class","qkt-wild-pkmn"] Pidgey LV 8 HP 58% [15/26]

The Pidgey was not the only one becoming annoyed with the battle. Monroe soon found herself becoming greatly irritated by the empty threats that the Pidgey continued to make towards her trainer. "We could have avoided this entire battle if you would not have threatened us! Weak?! Take that back, bird brains! I'm going to make you swallow those words!" Monroe chirped out loudly, flapping her short wings in the air to express her frustration.
"Monroe, calm yourself down! If you become too upset then you're going to give your opponent the upper hand!" Platinum called out to her Pokemon. She admired her Piplup's braveness, but Monroe's short temper is a major weakness. Unfortunately, Platinum did not have a solution to help her Pokemon deal to with it.
Monroe was soon knocked back by another Tackle from the Pidgey. The impact of the Tackle seem to hit a little bit harder than the last one, causing Monroe to roll back a tad. She was able to recover and fire off her Water Pulse. However, the water-type move did not inflict as much damage as she expected it to do. "Okay, that's enough playing around! I'm going to have to finish you off once and for all!" She shouted out to the Pidgey, waiting for Platinum to give her the next command.
"Okay, Monroe! Let's try another Water Pulse! Try to use a little bit more powerful!" She commanded her Pokemon. A small sweatdrop appeared over Monroe's head for a short moment before she summoned another orb of sparkling water then spending it into the direction of her opponent with a trail of waves splashing behind it.
