The mountaineer rubbed his head as he used Astrid’s Pokemon for support. He was glad that she managed to find him, but worried about the strange creature he had ran into a while ago. What if it was still lurking around the area? “I…I think so…” He muttered, really unsure how much movement he could do. As he tried to lift his bad leg up and over her Skiddo’s back, he groaned loudly in pain. But, he was used to some pain as a wilderness survivalist, so he didn’t give up. After several attempts and slowly working at it, the man would push himself up and onto the goat’s back, gripping onto her by tufts of her bright green foliage if she did not have tradition reigns to hold onto. “Recall…Sandslash..Uh, oh yeah!” He released his grip with one of his hands to rub his throbbing forehead and pulled out a Pokeball. With a click of a button, he recalled his Pokemon and replaced the Pokeball where it belonged. “I….ow…had a big order and my boss was really nagging at me to get it down. Told ‘im working at night is dangerous…oww…but nooo! Oh, man. He’s really not gunna like the news when I tell him what happened. Good thing I do odd jobs for a living.” The mountaineer recanted as worry and concern creased through his eyebrows. He wondered if this ‘boss’ would keep him around for the odd jobs he needed whenever he was near Goldenrod or if he would have to keep searching for more work as he ventured on through the rough terrains of Johto. Astrid’s questions brought him back to reality, and he thought deeply to himself before answering. “Yeah, just absolutely livid. I’m sure it was only a little splash out of the can. Woulda thought I lit the whole forest on fire and he was Smokey the Bear or somethin’!” He chuckled as he explained, then groaned in pain when laughing hurt his sides. “It’s camouflaged alright. Didn’t even see the beast ‘til I got it all wet. Then, BAM!” He said, his voice growing with apprehension. After their trails led back to the old farmer, Bernie would walk up to Astrid while waving his hands. Though he had a big smile on his face, it was tense and nervous. He stared deeply into the police officer’s eyes and searched her gaze for a shred of good news that would make him worry less about his berry trees. “Oh, my! What happened to this gentleman?!” But as Astrid spoke, Bernie turned his attention to her questions. “Oh..oh, yes. Yes! Margaret!” He called loudly as he rushed to his front door and cracked it open. His wife – a cute yet older lady with greying hair and fine lines around her face – rushed out and quickly urged the man inside after Bernie explained everything to her. “Margaret will treat his wounds until the ambulance gets here. She used to be an emergency room nurse until she retired.” He explained. Then, Bernie turned back to her other line of questioning. A hose? “You think it doesn’t like water? I have a sprinkler system that hooked up all around my berry farm! Do you think that would work?” He asked Astrid, then fished the key she had brought back to him not too long ago. “Show me how you want me to help you line my sprinklers up. Then, when you tell me you’re ready, I’ll use my key to turn them on. Normally, they’re set on specific times to turn on and off, but my key will let me override the system. Do you think this will really work?” He asked hopefully, then would work with Astrid as the police officer instructed to set up his sprinklers and help flush out the beast. Once she gave the word, Bernie would hurry over to the command center for his system and use the key to turn it on. A Wild Sudowoodo attacks! Level 24. What will Astrid do?!

If whatever lurked out there was going after them now, Astrid was ready and it would be safer if they were more together. Until now it sounded like it stayed hidden and targeted people or pokemon who were alone or in small groups. "I think the risk of it attacking us know is very slim, it wouldn't fit with what else I have been told of it," Astrid said reassuringly, "if it was not focusing on small or single targets, it would not hide but charge at anything. I think it is going for easy pickings and is really good at hiding, so it is going to be hard to find and deal with." She did her best to help the man up on Yakul, but Rita and Pia could do more with pushing and supporting him, she smiled relieved when he managed to get up an recalled his injured pokemon. The old woman touched her skiddo's horn to make it clear that she should be careful with her rider and walk gently.
As they walked back, Astrid was pulled out of her thoughts as the woodcutter decided to share what he was doing out here at this late hour. "Sounds like your boss might need a visit from the legal department about work demands," Astrid said dryly, "of course you can accept the work, but you can claim overtime for it, do not forget that. Oh, and if you have a employer I hope they have an insurance since this definitely counts as work injury and you have right to get something for this," she gestured to his bruised body. "Really? That is really interesting," Astrid said thoughtfully when he elaborated about the water and then smiled, "I think I know how to get this one out in the open then."
"He met our mystery creature," Astrid said dryly, "I am glad we found him, it is no place to be out alone with that around, and he had some really useful information as well." Astrid smiled warmly to Margaret and got Yakul to follow the other woman to the house so the man had to walk as little as possible, "It is good to know he will be in good hands," she said with a smile to Bernie before going serious and turning to the things at hand.
"Sprinklers! That would be perfect! And they can be moved you say? That is even better!" Astrid said eagerly, "you see, our target is really good at hiding, so its camouflage must be splendid otherwise you would all have seen it ages ago. But if it does not like water it will force it to move and reveal itself, the bigger area we can cover the better!" She turned to look at the orchard in front of her thoughtfully, "Pia, can you please take a look around for me?" Astrid asked and told the bird what she wanted her to look for. "It must be fairly big to be able to knock out so many so swiftly, and since it has just moved away from the two other areas, there is a high chance it is around here. I want to know what there is of bushes and trees and where there are paths in between which can be used to make barriers with the water," she told and they soon set to work. Pia could help guide although Bernie of course knew a lot of the details already, and soon the sprinklers was set up.
Astrid sent Pia to the sky to watch from above and intercept if the target tried to run away, while Ella and Silvia was sent into the middle of it all to face off the target when it hopefully was flushed out. When everything was ready, Astrid asked Bernie to start the sprinklers and watched tense as she didn't know what to do if this failed. The sprinklers started with a whoosh and one of the trees itself set into motion and ran out with some branches held over it as cover. "What?" Astrid said confused as Silvia moved forward to intercept it but was thrown away like nothing. Ella rushed after the running tree and slammed her hands into the ground to set a geyser of water up below it to throw it off its feet. Pia followed above and was ready to dive if necessary.

The wild brown Pokemon had remained carefully hidden as the humans seemed to converse amongst themselves. It shivered nervously and watched them pull these strange metal contraptions along the trails and line them up with the forested trees. What were they doing? It knew that its camouflage was the best way to avoid the humans and their dangerous Pokemon teams and tried to keep itself carefully concealed amongst the small pines and furs. When a gentle wind swept through the treetops to rustle the leaves on the other trees, the wild Pokemon was careful to ‘shake’ its own leaves just enough to mimic the breeze as well. Though, when the sprinkler systems were turned on, it would cry out loudly and rush out from the undergrowth. The wild Pokemon swung its arms out blindly and would immediately impale anything that wasn’t careful enough to stay away. All it wanted was to escape from the watery death that these strange humans were trying to trap it within. When the blue frog hopped in its path, the Sudowoodo’s small black eyes would widen with worry. It tossed its arms up defensively in front of its face as if to shield itself and spun around to try and run in the opposite direction but froze as it watched the sprinklers still spraying their water everywhere. Upon spinning back around, the Frogadier would slam a full-force wave of water at the wild Pokemon, nearly toppling it over. It swung its arms angrily as it cried out. It was scared and desperate. The water hurt so bad. It just wanted to escape and retreat into the safety of the surrounding forest! Why were they being so cruel?! Large boulders were lifted up from the surrounding forest and drug out as they floated dangerously close to the battlefield. The Sudowoodo would swing one arm towards Ella and slam several rocks all around her to block her from escaping the attack. The rocks pummeled the small frog, though she would manage through the attack to land another blast of water that shot up from the ground underneath Sudowoodo’s feet and knock the Pokemon out. Bernie scratched the back of his head in bewilderment. “Well I’ll be!” He commented as he studied the fainted Pokemon from a safe distance for a second. “All this time ‘twas a Pokemon that was rampagin’ ‘round my berries? Doesn’t seem to like water all that much, I’ll give it that! Seems its affected negatively by the water, doesn’t it?” He would ask Astrid curiously, then turn and walk over to her as he fished out some of the berries he had managed to salvage. “Lemme thank you for your hard work, miss. Now, don’t say it’s just part of your job and not take my gift, ya understand? This means a lot that I can reward you for everythin’ ya have done for this here farm!” SUCCESS!
Ella gained 3 levels! Ella increased to level 27!Ella grew closer to Astrid! +1 Happiness. Ella increased to +7 Happiness!Ella is now on the experience system! The sprinklers turned out to be much more effective than Astrid had imagined, and the pokemon much better camouflaged than expected. "It looks like a tree! No wonder we could not find it!" She exclaimed and frowned as she tried to remember what pokemon it could be. Usually green treelike pokemon were grass types but then the water shouldn't affect it. Another option would be a ditto, they lived close by after all but that wouldn't be bothered by the water either. Astrid pulled out her pokedex and waited for her two water type to handle things while trying to come up with a backup plan, should they fail. They could not let it get away now! They had to stop it. It didn't start well as Silvia was thrown to the side like nothing, Ella thought she was following after it but the sprinklers made its movements unpredictable and instead she was suddenly facing it. The water which blasted up from the ground made the tree-like pokemon stumble, but it stayed on its feet and Astrid winced when her poor old frogadier got half buried in rocks. The water hating tree pokemon collapsed on the ground by the second blast of water Ella managed from without her burial chamber.
"Pia! Get her out of there!" Astrid called and humped forward as fast as she could with her cane, Yakul was following her closely. The toucannon dived and began slamming her beak into the rocks which trapped Ella and soon got the bruised and battered frogadier out of her trap. Silvia was hopping over to stand guard the best she could, over the fallen living tree, she promised herself that she would do all the could to not be thrown around like this anymore, or as soon as she could. She desperately needed to grow! Astrid pointed her pokedex at the mysterious pokemon and was told it was a sudowoodo, "a rock type? No wonder it does not like water. How peculiar that it has the shape of a tree, I had never heard of that before," she said intrigued.
Astrid looked surprised at Bernie, "but I will! It is just my job, a officer shouldn't help the community just to get goods. You know I get paid right?" she protested but Bernie wouldn't have it and demanded she took the berries. She ended up accepting, simple because four small berries would mean nothing to Bernie, he had tons on his farm. "So what do we do about this guy," Astrid said as she looked down at the sudowoodo, "I better take it back to the headquarters and let them look at it, perhaps they can find the reason for its strange behavior and a fitting solution," she decided and got Yakul to wrap up the ground type so she could control it. She bit her farewell to Bernie, collected her pokemon around her and when the sudowoodo was awake and ready to go, well tied up, they left the area and set the course towards Goldenrod to turn in the troublemaker.
Wordcount: 512 (ooc: I attempted to use the multiplier on Ella, so she is level 28 and doesn't learn Fling. Self updated and finishing this thread! ^^ )
EDIT: just noting I have added the HM Rock Climb, which I should have gotten from this quest ^^
