The torrential rains poured down from the thick grey cumulonimbus clouds. Their large forms swelled upwards in the heavens above and ballooned to stretch so wide across the usually bright blue skies that only their grey bottoms could be seen. A darkness fell over the face of the earth, enshrouding the midmorning time in light that eerily seemed more fitting for late afternoon. Mishu slowly stepped out from the mouth of the cave and glanced around the open, grassy route at led a short distance into Azalea Town. She quickly pulled out a thick poncho as the rains poured, soaking through her shirt, and slipped it on over herself, pulling the hood up to block the worst of the downpour out of her face.
Her thick, curly, and wiry hair slumped down and clung to her back in an odd pattern. The rains had weighed it down almost instantly. There would be little use fighting it without her taking time to rent a room and clean her hair out – which was work in and of itself. She sighed, shaking her head with a loud and exasperated sigh. She was here on a mission, and she would easily solve the mystery for the townsfolk. Her Nubian nose pointed towards a crowd that had gathered underneath a grove of large trees, whose branches seemed to help them keep mostly out of the rain. Though, upon approaching them, Mishu noticed that they had been soaked through their outfits. “That’s the fifth time this week!” One woman complained, crossing her arms firmly over her chest in anger. “It completely demolished all my Bell Peppers and ripped up all my Carrots!” Another man, with a large straw hat whose brim slumped from the weight of the rain, roared. “Something’s got to be done…but what can we do!?”
“Uhm…excuse me…Professor Elm has informed me that you are all being terrorized by a Dark Type Pokemon around here?” Mishu called out as she waved to the crowd. They rolled their eyes as they sized her up and down, obviously sure that she wasn’t going to be of much use. “Yeah but…what’s it to you? Are you its trainer or something?!” One lady, with long, straight blonde hair demanded. She walked up and shoved Mishu lightly with her hands as she continued, “because we don’t take kindly to this kind of thing around here, miss!” She snapped. Another gentleman grabbed the blonde by her shoulder and pulled her back. “Sorry about my wife but…she has a point. WHY are you asking?” He asked suspiciously. Mishu calmed herself as Hinoina pressed against her legs and lowered her head defensively with a low growl. “She’s got one of them…beasts…with her!” Another woman pointed out in the crowd.
“I’m a specialist…” Mishu tried to explain, though everyone broke out into laughter. “Oh yeah, you!” One man with spiky brown hair and bright green eyes jeered. He pointed with one hand and clenched his stomach with the other as he laughed loudly at her. “I bet you don’t even know the difference in a Metapod and a Kakuna!” Mishu took a deep breath of air and fought within herself to remain calm. Clearly, this town wasn’t the friendliest to outsiders and her Pokemon couldn’t have helped matters. She turned to Hinoina sternly, “Calm down girl.” Then, back to the crowd, “I’m a Dark Type specialist. I would like to look into this matter for you more…determine why this Pokemon keeps attacking. What can you tell me?”
She would continue to go back-and-forth with the crowd and ultimately get nowhere. When they realized that she wasn’t behind the attacks, they all shrugged and decided that there was no use in continuing a conversation with her. “Listen, no offense but…Bugsy can’t even stop the beast. And he’s like…really strong. If you can prove that you’re strong enough to defeat him in a GYM battle…then maybe we’ll believe you.” Mishu nodded with a deep sighed. “Sure thing. I suspect that he’s one of the toughest bug type specialists out there. Which way is his GYM?” One of the young men lead Mishu to the front of Bugsy’s GYM, where she walked inside, over to the front desk.
Inside of the GYM was a spacious forest within itself. Seeing the towering trees growing out of the ground, and the dome-shaped top carved into a perfect greenhouse impressed the amber eyed educator. Marveled, she snapped back to the task at hand as the receptionist cleared her throat and asked Mishu (again) what she was here for. “Right…hello. My name is Mishu Mizuma and I’m here for a GYM Battle with Bugsy…” She pulled out her Pokemon after making sure they were all recalled in their balls for registry, and showed the receptionist her Zephyr GYM badge when requested. This was…going to be one of the toughest fights of her life…

As Mishu walks in and is amazed by the forest, she doesn't see anyone in the thick vegetation. What she does see is several different kinds of bug Pokemon in the trees, bushes, crawling along the ground and even a spinarak dangling from a tree branch a few inches above Mishu's head. While she is looking around, a voice speaks behind her.
"This is such a wonderful paradise for bug Pokemon. Some would almost mistake me for a grass Gym. I appreciate the connection bug and grass types have in nature. One thing people need to understand is the balance Pokemon provide and that bugs aren't gross or scary. Some do have a tendency to sneak up on you but not as bad as ghost types."
Bugsy walks beside her with his standard bug catching net resting on his left shoulder. His scyther is on his left side looking around trying to spot its teammates for the upcoming battle.
"So I heard you are a dark type trainer specialist. You made an interesting entrance when you came into town. It is true we have a dark type running around causing all sorts of trouble. I had tried to go hunting for the dark Pokemon but came up short most of the time and the only time I did it beat my team. Some say it digs up their gardens and by the time they or their Pokemon notice, it is gone. The only thing left is the dirty paw prints and claw marks. I would ask my friend Falkner to help with the investigation with him being a police officer but he has his hands full in Violet."
Bugsy than turns and faces Mishu. He can tell by her look she is into the whole dark theme but hard to tell if she is the investigator type.
"I don't mean to offend by you don't come across as the investigator police type. You might come close to the look out type. Now, if you beat me, I would appreciate your help in catching whatever wild Pokemon is causing this trouble."
Bugsy walks across the gym and as he does, natural lights comes on illuminating the gym layout. His scyther is at his side and Bugsy whistles twice with each being a different tone and pattern. A Kakuna falls out of a tree next to him while a Metapod wiggles out from a bush on the other side.
"Don't worry, you will only be facing these three while the rest will be simply observing. In fact, you get the scyther first."
Before the fight begins, a tall slender woman in a dress covered by different wing patterns from butterfree and other flying bug types appears as the referee.
"Did you forget me, again, Bugsy? You know it takes me a bit to change into my wing dress."
The judge looks over at Mishu with a smile.
"Don't worry, dear, this dress is made from preserved bodies of Pokemon who have passed. It is my way to honor their lives. Are both you ready for this contest to begin?"

The habitat that Bugsy built for his Pokemon was amazing. Beyond being just GYM Leader who loved a specific type, he went out of his way to carve out a home for them within his gym. The thirty year old educator’s soft amber eyes lit up as she studied the different Pokemon in the field. She would crouch down low, trying to understand them better in their natural environment, but found that there were simply too many to try to study at the moment. As Mishu slowly rose back up to her feet, she caught a glimpse of something dangling above her and tilted her head upwards to spot the large green spider with its yellow-and-black striped legs. “What an impressive home Bugsy has built for you all…” She muttered underneath her breath.
Mesmerized by his collection of bugs that wandered the GYM, Mishu wouldn’t notice the GYM Leader as he slipped up on her from her side. She turned her head quickly to her side when she heard a voice speaking out to her, and relaxed as she noticed the bug enthusiast trainer with his net walking over to her. “You must be Bugsy!” She spoke up with a smile, then nodded when he mentioned how he could be mistaken for a Grass Type GYM Leader. “Ah, yes! Grass and Bug types have similar environmental needs. Though, most bugs seem to prefer flowers and large plants, while grass types tend to prefer tall grasses and usually more open fields, I believe?” And there were exceptions to every rule just about, especially with dual-typing Pokemon. “You’ve done a wonderful job creating the perfect environment for your bugs, Bugsy. I’m impressed!”
Mishu pulled out a small red-and-white ball and pressed the button in its center. A bright beam of light shot forth as the Pokeball cracked open to reveal its inner contents. Long, slender legs with a fork-shaped tip tail and two large, curved horns took shape on the outermost edges of the red light. As the light faded, the horned canine would remain, clawing softly and impatiently at ground. She pulled her lips back and lowered her head as she growled softly. Mishu reached over and gently stroked her canine on the top of her head. “There, there, Hinoina. It’s alright.” She nodded as Bugsy mentioned Mishu’s early fiasco with the town and sighed heavily. “Yes, they have been…difficult…to get answers from. I know they must mean well for their own town and only want to help protect each other…However, they agreed that if I could prove myself against you in battle, I might be able to help them with their mystery Pokemon. Ya see, Professor Elm asked me to look into the matter for your town.”
Mishu would pull out a notepad and write down the details that Bugsy provided to her about the strange Dark Type Pokemon. Paw prints and claw marks left behind in gardens that it digs up…almost like a raccoon like Zigzagoon? But Galarian forms of Zigzagoon shouldn’t be loose around here. Maybe a feline, though I’m unsure if Alolan forms of Meowth would be running loose, either… She mused to herself, trying to predict who the culprit might be. She turned to her canine and nodded as the ‘devil dog’ leaped out onto the battlefield and pawed at the ground impatiently. Hinoina would tilt her head up and bark in short, gruff, tones as she faced off with the speedy preying mantis before her. “Scyther are known for their speed and sharp, knife-like scythes…” She hummed, then turned to Hinoina. “Hinoina, it feels a bit…drab in here, right girl? Let’s brighten it up with Sunny Day, please!” She called forth her Pokemon’s first move.

Bugsy smiled as response to Mishu guessing who he was, and half nodded when she pointed out the differences between preferences of bug and grass types. "Now I'm not an expert on grass types but when it comes to bugs, some prefer flowers, especially the ones who feeds on nectar. But a lot of bugs actually needs dead leaves and the like for eating, so a biotop like this with both trees and open areas for flowers, and especially us not cleaning every small bit that falls off the trees, is good," he was thoughtful for a moment, "I guess pokemon who feeds of sunlight would prefer open plains, but there are many grass types who hides in the forests, Shiftry is the first which comes to mind," he glanced at Mishu to see if that was a pokemon she'd knew about, "and foongus."He smiled broadly when Mishu praised his work, "Thank you!"Bugsy's eyes widened and then he frowned as Hinoina materialized in front of him. The dark type was the picture of what all the dark types was seen as, raw, hellish and cruel. It wasn't bothering Bugsy much, he was too used to be around 'dangerous' poisonous bug types which was feared and hated by some, to let a pokemon's look affect him. He was worried about the houndoom's fire typing. He would have told her that it wasn't so often he saw pokemon as well trained as Hinoina, but the conversation turned to something else. Bugsy smiled faintly, his eyes still on Hinoina, "they are proud, it's hard for them to accept that they need help and that I have failed them," he said quietly. He looked more determined at Mishu, "we better get to it then, if you cannot best me, you certainly don't have what it takes to handle this troublemaker." Bugsy smiled wryly, it was not often people challenged him for anything else than his badge, not that it would make much difference here. "Are you both ready?" The judge called after Bugsy has reassured her, he hadn't forgotten about her, and she raised a butterfly-winged covered sleeve high in the air, waiting for their confirmation. "This is an official gym battle, and Challenger Mishu can use up to six pokemon and switch freely, while Bugsy has the approved three. The battle continues until either trainers has no more pokemon who can battle," she looked sternly at them and then let her hand fall down, "begin!"Hinoina was the fastest which made Bugsy frown even more, a glow began to shine from the lowest part of her throat, and it grew in intensity, she threw her head back and sent out a strongly glowing ball from her mouth, which flew up and bumped into the glass ceiling. Both Bugsy and the judge was shielding their eyes as they looked up on the mini-sun which now hung up under the roof and glowed. "You come prepared," Bugsy said with a smile, "But is it enough? Scyther! U-Turn!" Bugsy called and his bug raced forward, her long scythes held at ready which she sliced down at the hellhound. She smirked confidently as she stared challenging right at Hinoina just as she disappeared in a flash of red. The green metapod rolled over the grass calmly and right itself up, looking stoicly at the black dog. Mishu listened to Bugsy as he explained the various needs that bug Pokemon had and even how they could differ between different species of bug Pokemon. To her, it felt no different than the various needs that her own Pokemon required, and how she need to be able to juggle their unique species differences when addressing them individually and even training them. “Interesting! I imagine a Butterfree would need nectar but…” She scrounged up her face and tried to think of an example of a bug Pokemon who might feast of dead and decaying plant matter, “would Pinsir prefer to eat dead and decaying plant matter then? I believe they like to burrow underground on colder nights because they can’t stand being cold.” She mused to herself. Though, she really hadn’t studied the Stag Beetle Pokemon very well, and waited Bugsy’s confirmation on her assumptions.
When Bugsy mentioned Shiftry, Mishu’s eyes beamed up. She nodded her head enthusiastically as she scratched the bottom of her chin. “Oh, Shiftry! A dual type Grass-and-Dark Pokemon. There’s still so much research we have yet to learn about them, that I hope I can one day shed light on.” She commented, watching as her forked-tailed canine shot a large, powerful beam of sunlight up into the high altitudes of the indoor climate. The harsh sunlight would bring about a strong, and overpowering sense of warmth that would make even the most modestly dressed individual feel a little stuffy. She knew she would need to work quickly, though, to capitalize on the sun’s bright glows.
“All we know so far is that they like to live in the canopies deep inside of forests and that they can create powerful gusts of chilly winds.” But, if it lived so deep in the forest to avoid too much exposure to the sun, why would it climb high in the treetops to bring itself closer to the sun? “I believe the sunlight helps them control their photosynthesis with their leaves. There are supposed to be many species of plants that cannot stand direct sunlight, and so need indirect sunlight to thrive. Maybe this is why we find Shiftry so deep inside of forest, and yet curiously enough near the tops of the trees themselves?” She hummed. She turned to the judge and studied her outfit curiously as the bright ball of artificial sunlight bore down on them. “I hope you don’t get too hot in that, miss. Looks like you put a lot of work and effort into it.”
Scyther immediately rushed in and slashed Hinoina with a deep gash along her side. Mishu frowned momentarily, as she considered her options in the moment. She could switch Hinoina out and try to quickly end this cocoon Pokemon within a quick move or two. She should only have so many rounds that the artificial sun would last, anyways. Or she could switch out Hinoina for another of her Pokemon, at least sacrificing some time both to switch in the new Pokemon and to have the newer Pokemon attack their opponent. What was the point in going straight for the powerful sun’s rays if she switched them around now, and wasted the precious time that she had while the artificial sun clung high against the top of the GYM’s roof for them? “I don’t expect it to be so easy to defeat you.” She winked.
“I must admit, that’s a pretty solid strategy, Bugsy. I’m sure you’re aware as much as I am, that an artificial sunlight such as the one I’ve created with Hinoina cannot last forever.” Mishu nodded, as she turned her attention to the battle at hand. She had already decided to see this through with her toughest and fiercest canine. While she wanted to give the other Pokemon on her team some experience as well, she knew that Bugsy’s praying mantis was lurking in the shadows on his team and that soon, she would need Hinoina to face off with the beast once more. The blue-haired thirty year old also wanted to make sure that the sunlight didn’t fade before this happened. “Hinoina, use Fire Fang on Bugsy’s Metapod.” She instructed as the tall, lithe, black canine raced off across the ground after Bugsy’s green cocoon Pokemon.

Bugsy made a funny grimace and a smile hid in the corner of his mouth, when he heard Mishu's suggestion. "Partly correct, although I think some pinsir's would find it a bit offending if we told them they ate dead leaves, they are predators after all," he said with a chuckle, "but it is correct that they burrow and doesn't like the cold. As for bugs eating dead plan materials I was more thinking of pokemon like kricketots or some of the worms," he explained. He smiled warmly when he heard Mishu's reaction to his suggested pokemon, he had a feeling it wasn't the pokemon's grass typing she was excited about and the reason she wanted to get one herself. It was a bit strange with the heat eradiating mini sun pressed against the glass roof, while you could hear the rain drum on the roof at the same time, and hear distant rumbling from the thunder. The flashes from the lightning wasn't visible with the glowing ball of fire. A pair of vivillons and a dustox settled at the higher branches and spread their wings as they enjoyed the warmth, while a nincada was busy digging its way down to get away from the harsh sunlight. Bugsy ran a hand over his forehead. Bugsy smiled, this was a trainer who knew her stuff and investigated, she might have a chance with the troublemaker. "If they live deep in the forest, the information you have there might not be correct," he pointed out, "pokemon have been categorized wrong before you know, and the information others have gathered about this shiftry might be wrong, or just a single pokemon which happens to act differently than the species do in general."The judge was watching the pokemon closely, clearly not letting anything distract her. "Don't worry about me!" She said cheerfully not taking her eyes from the battle in front of her, "last summer a challenger did nothing else but hail and blizzards covering it all several inches of snow so this is nothing!"Fire was not unheard of in this gym, as apparently that was the first thing people thought of when they came here, but as long as Mishu wasn't trying to distract her or affect her judging, she didn't care what the challenger did. "I am well aware," Bugsy said calmly as the sun shone brightly above, and the rain poured down outside. It was no surprise what happened next, the hound lunged at the immovable cocoon, who widened its eyes as the dog's mouth opened to reveal her flaming teeth and Hinoina fully lived up to their nickname of hellhounds. The teeth clamped down upon the bug who went out as a light immediately, at least Mishu and her pokemon made sure to end things swiftly and not drag out the pain. "Metapod is unable to battle!" The Judge called out and Bugsy recalled it. The gym leader held out a pokeball and looked at Mishu with a smirk, "prepared for what comes next?" He asked teasingly, and would let Mishu wait a bit before he would reveal his next pokemon, which turned out to be sending Scyther back into the battle. Wild Encounter Weather: Harsh sunlight (2/5) [attr="class","qkt-bkgd"] [attr="class","qkt-wild-pkmn"] Metapod LV 18 HP 0% [0/51]

Mishu turned to her bag as Bugsy spoke and corrected her. She would quickly pull out a small notebook and flip open to a free section where she could record the notes about Pinsir. Although they weren’t her favored type or species, knowing more about Pokemon in general helped her understand how the different types interacted with each other in the grander scheme of things. “I hope you don’t mind me taking some notes…” She commented, while busily scribbling about. “I must admit I don’t know nearly enough about Bug Types as I do Dark Types, but I find any bit of information fascinating…” That begged the question, though…what did Pinsir hunt down as mighty predators? “Pinsir are one of the few Pokemon capable of Mega-evolution…right?” She asked Bugsy, slightly curious if he had ever seen a mega evolved Pinsir before.
Hinoina moved in swiftly and made quick work of Bugsy’s green cocoon. Mishu kept a close eye on her strong-willed dog as it ran in and sunk its teeth on the small Metapod. It could be tough to watch the two duking it out, with the bug having little to say or fight back against the mighty dog. When it was clear that the Metapod had lost the fight within itself, Mishu spoke up. “Hinoina, that’s enough.” The devilish canine would drop the fainted Pokemon on the ground and look up at her trainer curiously while Bugsy recalled his Pokemon to switch in another. She nodded as she reached up one free hand a scratched the bottom of her chin thoughtfully. “That is true…Take Lapras. They were nearly hunted to extinction and were once a very rare sight to see. And now, thanks to conservation efforts, there’s an overabundance of Lapras today.” She smiled. Then, snapped her fingers. “Or more accurately, Clefairy! We used to think they were just Normal Type, until we learned about Fairy Types and realized they had been mistyped!”
Hinoina spun around to face off against Bugsy’s flying praying mantis. Her bright red eyes narrowed down on her opponent as she squared off and prepared for her assault. “I see your Scyther makes her return appearance!” Mishu smiled as she noted her canine’s body language mentally that seemed to imply her impatience to rush into the fray, nodded as she gave the command. “Hinoina, Fire Fang again, please.” Hinoina kicked off the ground and rushed after her flying foe. She would leap off of the ground as fast as she could with her lips spread wide open and her fangs cloaked in thick flames. “I’m hopeful I can study Pokemon, especially Dark Type Pokemon, more in-depth. Especially in Johto, where the first Dark Types were seemingly discovered. It is my hope that through accurate observation and study, I can help dispel some of the myths that still persist.” She stated. It pleased her to hear Bugsy admit that he thought she could be capable of helping them with their mystery Pokemon, though.

Bugsy listened to her. She had an eagerness to learn, that he could see. But he also wasn't going to let her win so easily. Or so he thought, anyway. "Clefairy was truly a surprise. No one knew anything about Fairy types, so I can understand why you want to learn more. There's still a lot of things we don't know about Pokemon." He answered, nodding at his Scyther. The sunlight and harsh heat was starting to make him sweat. Trainers always had to use these fire types at his Gym. The eager Houndoom leapt forward before Scyther could move, digging heated fangs into the carapace of the creature before her. Scyther cried out in pain, unable to do anything as the move presented her with overwhelming pain that knocked her out in one hit. "..." Bugsy watched as the judge declared Hinoina the winner of the round. "I see you were certainly paying attention to strategies and type match ups, this sun is shriveling my poor bugs." He said as he walked over to Scyther. The dog that took her out, seemed indifferent. "Alright then, let's see how my last Bug type fares. The heat of the battle seemed to boil over in an instance. Like a pot of water left on the stove eye for too long, the intensity of the moment immediately boiled over and fizzled as soon as Hinoina brought the bright green mantis to a complete stop. She dropped the bug on the ground and stood over it with her lips pulled back in a menacing growl while she sniffed the ‘corpse’ momentarily. Mishu whistled with a snap of her fingers, catching her Pokemon’s attention. “Great work, Hinoina! Now, return!” She gestured to the edge of the battlefield. The proud dog stood tall with her head poised over her ‘catch. Her tail whipped from one side to the other, and for a second it might seem as though she had other plans.
Though, within seconds, Hinoina easily waltz over to the sidelines. She stretched out on the ground and curled her feet underneath her bodice as she began licking her own wounds. Personally, she didn’t mind showing all of Bugsy’s Pokemon a lesson if that was what it took. But, it seemed as though there wasn’t much of a threat left behind after she managed to easily thwart the speedy bug’s best efforts. “Yosei, come on out! Let’s show them what you’re made of! Please use Bite!” Mishu called at the top of her lungs as she tossed another red-and-white Pokeball up high into the air with the click of a button. “Your prey seems easy enough.” Hinoina said in a gruff huff. “Just don’t goof off too much.” She snapped with a serious look.
The bright pink monster appeared out of his ball with a loud flash. “Yeah, yeah. I got this, sweetheart!” Yosei giggled and pretended to stretch his arms and legs for a second. He would then race over to the yellow cocoon’s side and try to poke it with a finger for a second as he tilted his head. “Wait…don’t tell me she called me out here to battle this thing?” Yosei laughed, shaking his head as he used both arms to highlight and gesture towards the Kakuna. “No…no way! Surely I can handle something much worse than this!” He shook his head and turned away, walking towards the edge of the battlefield as though he might just walk off. Mishu spoke firmly, calling out to her Pokemon. “Yosei, use Bite! You’re in the middle of a battle.”
Yosei froze as one ear twitched and spun back around. That thing was a battler? Was it even really a fight? “Whatever you say…” He shrugged and began jumping up and spinning in dramatic, backwards flips towards his opponent. When he neared the strange cocoon, the imp Pokemon would spin around on the tips of his toes and bend over at a dramatic angle as he attempted to bite down on Kakuna’s side with his sharp teeth. “Seriously…there’s no fun even trying to play pranks on something…so pathetic!” He grumbled under his breath.
Mishu nodded her head as Bugsy’s statements. “I think that’s a good thing, though, in some ways. That means that there’s still so much left for us to learn.” She pointed out with a bright smile. “Though, at least…the harsh sunlight won’t last much longer…” Mishu tried to console Bugsy’s concerns. She was only doing what was best for her Pokemon. She knew that Bugsy understood this in the heat of the battle. But she also couldn’t help but feel for his Pokemon and understand why Bugsy was so concerned about their wellbeing.

Bugsy wasn't sure if it was the heat of the battle or the harsh artificial sunlight that was making him feel a sense of discomfort, the normally cool, calm and collected walking encyclopedia of bug type pokemon was aware that the battle was nearing its conclusion, he did however cling onto the sliver of hope that his Kakuna could get the job done. Mishu's thirst for knowledge was impressive, Bugsy could only admire the traits that the blue haired girl was displaying, they would no doubt take her as far into her journey as she wished to go.
Kakuna could overhear Mishu's prankster pokemon treating her as less than a suitable challenger, the yellow cocoon-like pokemon could not wait for the day that she finally evolved, that would be the day that she truly would be able to dish out revenge for the countless amounts of battles she had fought in to no avail. The sharp teeth of small fuchsia colored pokemon buried themselves deep into the shell of the yellow cocoon pokemon, if the dual bug/poison type could screech in pain in response to the attack it surely would have done so.
"Use this chance to utilize your Bug Bite attack Kakuna"
Bugsy's voice was filled with concern, Mishu's hellhound like pokemon had run through both his frontline of defense and offense as if they never truly stood a chance, he noted mentally to himself how each new trainer that challenged his gym was proving to be a worthy learning experience for future battles. The virtually immobile cocoon pokemon registered her trainers orders and took the close quarters opportunity to extend its poison barbs and delved them directly into the side of Mishu's Impidimp's body.
"While the sunlight may be fading away, my hope will not dim."

Confidence had led the strange pink Pokemon with his large head, pointed ears, and small dark purple wings sticking out his back to underestimate his enemy. Yōsei tilted his ears and fanned his ears as the small yellow chrysalis sunk its teeth deep into the pink imp’s flesh. He leaped up high into the air and spun around dramatically, landing on his feet a couple of meters away. “How do you even have teeth?” Yōsei asked curiously, circling his target for a moment to look for the ‘secret’ mouth that it used to bite down on him. A dome shaped head perfectly glued onto its oblong-shaped cocoon…two appendages that looked as though they could morph into scythe-like arms…and large black eyes at the top of its head. But, no matter where Yōsei searched, he couldn’t seem to locate a mouth.
This would take a different approach altogether. Smirking, the imp snapped his finger and backed up to sit on the ground in front of his opponent. Mishu tilted her head for a second as she watched her Pokemon acting pretty odd in the midst of the battlefield. Though, for Yōsei it really wasn’t too out of the ordinary. “Yōsei, use Bite again, please!” An ear twitched as the small pink imp heard the command and shook his head. No, this opponent would require a different approach altogether. “Say…that’s pretty impressive!” He nodded his head and raised his hands up so that he could clap. As he applauded the small bug’s efforts, Yōsei would continue to flatter and praise his opponent further. “Truly. Who knew such a small bug had teeth to bite with, anyways? You must be the strongest cocoon I’ve ever faced! I’m sorry I underestimated you before. Don’t tell me…you also plan to evolve into something terrifying one day? Why, with your strength now…you don’t need to evolve to be terrifying! Look at the damage you caused me!”
Yōsei Leaped up and pointed to the spot where the Kakuna had bit. The skin raised to form a small bruise while bits of red liquid pooled up to the surface. It wouldn’t be long before it healed over, leaving just a small scar where the other Pokemon had bit him. Though Yōsei was trying to purposefully flatter his opponent, he had to admit he was impressed that the cocoon could do anything but lay there and take a beating. If this doesn’t work… Yōsei thought to himself with a twitch of his ear, Then my trainer better hurry with a potion! Mishu, instead, watched her Pokemon in slight confusion and amazement. What was Yōsei planning?
“Impidimp are known to be wily…” Mishu commented, more to herself than to Bugsy. “ Yōsei, I sure hope you know what you’re planning…” Considering how beat up Yōsei already was, it was strange to see him switch the tactic up and do anything for his opponent. She had known him to be quite the prankster, that’s for sure. More often than not, Yōsei would only selfishly focus on himself and his needs. So, why was he seeming to praise his opponent and especially in the heat of the battle? “Wait…is he trying to Flatter his opponent, I wonder…” Mishu mumbled to herself as she tried to rationalize her own Pokemon’s decision. The Houndoom that lay curled up on Mishu’s side and off the battlefield only howled, “Hurry up, Yōsei!” Then, Hinoina would yawn loudly and close her eyes to slowly drift off.

The kakuna stayed immobile and only her eyes followed Yōsei as he moved around her. "Why should I tell you? You are my opponent," she snapped annoyed, one thing was to lose battles but against an opponent who was making fun of her? No way! She was not going to give Yōsei that tiny pleasure even though it in the end probably wouldn't matter to him. She narrowed her eyes suspiciously at the impidimp when he sat down in front of her, and her suspicion grew when she heard his words. "What are you up to?" She asked accusingly, "who says I need teeth to bite with? I'm not a dog! And of course I will evolve, I have the best bug trainer there is and I don't know if you have seen his scyther, but people have learned to fear it, just as they will learn to fear me!" She boasted. The kakuna looked uncertain at Yōsei, "You have learned your lesson?" She asked slowly and shook her head in confusion, there was something here which didn't add up but she had a hard time putting her non existing finger on it. "So full of trickery," Bugsy said and glanced at Mishu, "that is party what dark types are known for, you know, being wile."He looked at his Kakuna, she was strong but still rather untrained and lacked the confidence and experience which Scyther had. She still needed a lot of guidance from him. "We better prepare for the worst then, Kakuna!" He called and the cocoon stopped talking with Yōsei, and even though she didn't move it was clear her attention was at her trainer. "Use Iron Defense," Bugsy ordered. It would buy them some time at least. He wiped his brow, he'd probably think more clearly if the temperature dropped a bit. Bugsy glanced at Mishu, it seemed like she was well fitted to deal with the troublemaker which was running amok in the area. "So how are you planning on finding and handling the trouble maker? It's not exactly a dark type after all, although a lot of the people here believes it to be," he held a little awkward pause, "because of prejudice unfortunately.""The way is running away!" Kakuna shouted threatingly and made a funny jerk which made her fall face first into the grass, where she lay still. Bugsy's mouth fell open, "what?" He glanced at the judge, his kakuna hadn't fainted alredy, had she? The judge smirked and pointedly kept her arms at her sides, not making any moves to rule the battle as over and Bugsy relaxed a bit, although he still looked uncertain of what was going on. The small pink imp scratched behind his left ear with his foot as though he were some type of canine. Yōsei listened to the small yellow bug speak as a wild smile covered his large face. Was this little chrysalis that afraid of what the impish Pokemon had up his sleeves that it couldn’t even answer a simple question. What a drag! “Come now, princess, it’s just a simple question!” He stated, jumping up onto his feet. He used one of his long, thin fingers to dig inside of his ear as he tilted his head to the side. When he pulled his hand out of his ear a small pile of earwax at on its tip. He quickly rubbed the wax off of his hands and shook his fingers to try and shake off the remains.
“I’m not up to anything,” Yōsei defended. He raised his hands up at his sides and shrugged while walking around the large yellow cocoon. “It looks like you slipped a bit there, though, princess.” He pointed out, and lowered his head to the ground to study the dirt earth underneath the Kakuna carefully. Ah, yes. Lots of tall grasses, sandy reaches, and broken bits of branches and twigs scattered about. Perfect for such a normal looking bug Pokemon, but not quite the kind of home that Yōsei would dream about late at night (or early in the day…ya know…whenever he slept). “I’m sure everyone will fear you one day. Hang in there, kid.” Yōsei giggled, before jumping up in the air.
Yōsei would try to leap behind the yellow cocoon to hopefully bite down on it from behind and sink his teeth into the chrysalis’ shell before it had a chance to properly fight back. If he was lucky, maybe his surprising antics would keep up a strong show and cause the Pokemon to keep losing its focus and nerve to properly fight back. The imp had to do his best to ensure that he was capable of capturing the prize in the end. Mishu glanced up from the battlefield as the two squared off against each other in the heat of the battle and nodded in Bugsy’s direction. “Yes, they’re known for a lot of things though. Some of them are pure myths that seem to only hurt the Dark Type Pokemon as a whole because of superstition and prejudice. I want to help shed light on what’s real and what false, and help people see why the superstitions are nothing more than old wives’ tales.” She added thoughtfully.
When Bugsy asked how she would manage to find this illusive Dark Type, Mishu scratched herself under her chin. “I’ll need to know its habits intimately, then I can probably stake out a spot it likes to strike the most. If not, I may have to try and figure out where it’ll strike next based on clues left behind where it struck last.” She added with a hum. But Bugsy’s words implied that what she had heard so far wasn’t all fact. This was something the blue-haired trainer knew could have been true, but hadn’t actually prepared for. “Though, if what you’re saying is true…I’ll need to separate fact from fiction about our mystery Pokemon first. Perhaps, if I get eye-witness testimony from several sources I can find common threads among them, which can help me paint a better picture of this mystery Pokemon?” She hummed thoughtfully to herself.
Was Mishu really ready to face this mystery Pokemon herself? And if it wasn’t actually a Dark Type, then what was she about to face? Perhaps, it evolved into a Dark Type or looked similar to other Dark Type Pokemon that it was easily mistaken for one? Mishu was gaining more questions than answers by the second, it seemed.

Kakuna isn't the only one confused. Bugsy expected a different reaction to his order. Instead, he watched as his kakuna hit itself in confusion. As Bugsy looks at the bug, the artificial sun extinguishes and the temperature drops back to normal. He then wipes the remaining sweat from his brow. The judge looks appreciative for the artificial sun leaving the gym. "Your imp is a strange one, Mishu. You are also a bit curious as to why you let your sun advantage go away like you did. It is nice to have this gym back to normal temperature though. One thing you probably already know is how some Pokemon can have certain misgivings. I've heard from Whitney that there is a rare Pokemon who transforms into whatever it is facing. It is possible the one you are chasing is this Pokemon as well. Your ideas of asking questions is a smart idea. As for doing any stake outs, I am not sure what the proper procedure but could freak out the locals if you forget to tell them. The local police probably would like to be notified as well just in case they have questions of their own." Bugsy looks at Kakuna hoping it can snap out of the confusion. "Okay, Kakuna, try a iron body once again." Kakuna hears the command again and this time does what Bugsy wants to. Kakuna than responds after being bit by the imp. >>You call me princess but you bite as if I am some sort of food. If you think I am a princess than treat me like one. My next form will be magnificent and those who don't think so will find my point to be understood.<< A moment later Kakuna's body glisten with a hint of gray and she turns around to stare at the imp daring another taste of her shell now. >>Maybe, just maybe, your trainer thinks you are too weak and need to get a work out. If your trainer was smart, she would have left the fire dog in to finish me off in one hit instead of sending a chump like you to bite off more than you can chew.<< Wild Encounter Weather: Clear [attr="class","qkt-bkgd"] [attr="class","qkt-wild-pkmn"] Kakuna LV 18 HP 31% [15/49]

The thirty year old’s soft amber gaze lifted to the dome top above the makeshift greenhouse turned into a GYM. She studied the window-like glass of the rooftop where the artificial sun has pressed its weight against the side of the glass for signs of wear or damage, though it seemed as though the building had managed against the attack just fine. A gentle smile returned to her lips as she returned her gaze back to purple-haired GYM Leader whose medium-length shaggy hair fanned around his face, framing it. “I believe she mentioned that you would be battling with only three Pokemon, right?” Mishu stated, gesturing towards the judge that stood off a ways from the makeshift battlefield. “So I couldn’t resist the urge to allow some of my other Pokemon a chance to gain experience.”
Yōsei frowned as the small yellow chrysalis spoke to him. She had quite the personality when she actually chose to speak! A pampered Pokemon that thought Yōsei owed it to her to treat her like the royalty he was jokingly calling her?! Hah! Instead, he rushed over to a nearby tree and pulled a bunch of leaves and thorned vines. He would sew the thorned vines through the leaves and pull them together, creating a makeshift hat out of the maple leaves. Then, the pink imp would spin back around and hop over to his opponent, holding the small gift out to her carefully within the palm of his hands. “Well, here ya go, princess!” He commented with a large smile painted across his face. He nodded his head enthusiastically towards her, as if he expected her to grow movable arms and take the gift from him to wear. “A crown befitting your thorny attitude!” He laughed loudly.
Mishu hummed to herself, pressing one finger against the side of her face. Her eyes absentmindedly traveled up the trunk of a large willow tree whose long, leafy-green thin branches swooped and billowed in different directions. The leaves weighed the tops of the tee down and draped down like curtains, creating an almost surreal spot underneath the base of the large tree. Snapping back to reality, Mishu would eventually answer Bugsy’s observations. “I know I would need to earn the villager’s trust. Part of it I hope to do by proving my capabilities once I’ve won this GYM battle. But Professor Elm’s email mentioned that this town needed some help with the culprit, so I don’t doubt the local police haven’t already tried everything they could to find it.” She mused and pointed out, just barely catching a glimpse of her strange imp Pokemon making gifts for his opponents. What on earth was Yōsei up to?
“Yōsei, use Bite!” Mishu instructed, turning back to Bugsy to continue their conversation. A Pokemon that could change their shape and take the form of something else? “Zorua are Dark Type that can change shape and take the form of other things. Some are even rumored to take the shape of people and mimic our speech!” She smiled briskly as she raised a hand and pointed this out to Bugsy. Zorua were relatively new in the grand scope of Pokemon knowledge, so most people may have only known of the common Ditto that could accomplish such a feat. Though, normally, Ditto needed a reference source to help them take their shape, which should mean the Pokemon it was mimicking would still be lurking around somewhere. “Ditto can too, through their move Transform, if they have a reference source.” She added in quickly with a wink. Yōsei shrugged as he rushed over to his opponent and prepared to try and chomp down on her.
