Oh no good. No good at all! It so desperately needed the most greatest power it knew from its almighty deity Umshoo! But alas, all of the prayers and pleas in the world didn't seem to be enough to get the most powerful pokemon to help in this dire situation. Maybe it was because it had not yet seen anything that made this sentret worthy of such assistance. Perhaps it was waiting to see what exactly it was that this little one had that made it worth coming out into the heat, in front of this horrible human. Well if that was the case, then they were just going to have to stand their ground and show this bully what they were made of! "You must not let this human tell you such lies!" it squeaked, trying hopelessly to evade those long vines. But of course it could not escape. How could it? The sentret felt dread well up within it and it let out a high pitched squeak at being so harshly strangled within the plant's grasp. "Please!" it gasped, trying to bat away at the pokemon. "We don't turn into vicious beasts just for evolving!" But there was no use in trying to get this carnivine to see the truth, was there? Not even Umshoo would have been able to knock sense into the human's slave. How sad and tragic it was, to be forced to live with such a monstrosity of a person, made to do all kinds of terrible, belittling things. It wondered just how miserable this bad, bad human's pokemon all really were. At least sentret didn't have to worry about being added to the collection. Instead, it just had to worry about... dying. Most likely. Panicked, the rabbit like scout raked its little claws against one of the squeezing vines, trying to force it to let it go. Sadly, that did not seem to be completely successful, though it did manage to hurt the creature. Right? Would it be able to survive this, or was it stuck now, forever in the fate of death, given by the command of a callous, most cruel monster walking this earth. Caribes curled their lips with a devious grin. Already, the plan was working better than they had expected. They wiped away a thick bead of sweat that pooled at the top of their pale forehead and studied the battle carefully. If Caribes had their monstrous vine Pokemon keep up the assault for another route, then they were sure that this would leave the Sentret within the right state for switching in their other Pokemon. They could also consider switching up their tactic to have their Pokemon stall a little longer while the binding vines worked their magic on the small rodent. “Good. Don’t let that little rodent go no matter how much it claws or bites you.” Caribes commanded their Pokemon with a satisfied grin.
Kayako tilted her head while she kept her prey subdued inside of her vines. Did this little creature think that it could convince her to fight back against the oppressive force that contained her? Did it not realize the fate that she would be subjected to if she even thought about doing something deliberately against Caribes’ orders? She shook her head sadly and glanced away from the small rodent to study the trees all around them. “I don’t think my trainer is lying…” Kayako muttered to herself, placing one of her vine-like hands underneath her chin thoughtfully. “But I…” She hummed. Could she ever hope to see freedom somewhere else down the line? Was it worth it to try and escape? What would happen anyways?
“He has this device that binds me, much like my vines bind you to the spot.” She continued. Her eyes traversed the length of a mighty oak. There were patches along the oak’s trunk where chunks of its rough bark had been stripped away, exposing the softer flesh inside. Some animal had bore a hollow hole in the tree high up above the ground, carving out a safety place to retreat and rest after their diurnal or nocturnal wanderings drew to an end. They were trapped, like all things, to the things that held them in their place. It was simply a game of chance whether their trunks would be scoured by the living animals around it and ripped to shreds thoughtlessly by their claws. “I’ll never be allowed to go anywhere. If you play dead at the end of this fight, though, I may be able to scoot your body off to a safer spot. Then, when you wake, you’ll be free.”
Caribes rubbed their temples with their hands and took a deep breath. Their plant still loved to talk to the small rodent, but she was at least keeping it at bay. Caribes didn’t need to worry about the Sentret booking it off before they had the chance to make sure Sentret was swiftly dealt with. “Keep using Bind and try to make it as strong as you can. We need its health down as low as possible.” Caribes instructed and walked around to her side so that they could get a better look. There was still plenty of fight left inside of the wild hare. How long would the battle last? Another round? Or two? Or several? Caribes gripped another red-and-white Pokeball in their hand silently while they tried to determine their next move. “Umshoo can’t save you, I’m afraid. I need to hurt you and bring you near the light but…maybe then…then I can save you…” Kayako muttered to herself.
OOC: Kayako uses Bind. Good work on the damage calculations, DarkSlayer! Some notes though. Bind only lasts between 2-5 rounds, so you should rng for it and then note the rounds for the next mod. Also, Kayako is holding a Binding Band which does 1/6 of the maximum damage each round instead of 1/8 (VI onward - it changed from 1/16 without the band and 1/8 with band to 1/8 without band and 1/6 with in Gen VI). So it should do 18*1/6: 3 HP damage from being Bound each round as well. ^^ Words: 581 | Caribes - Teddy - Kayako

What was the poor thing supposed to do? It was being completely strangled to the point of no return by a huge, carnivorous plant pokemon, on the orders of its horribly despicable trainer! And what kind of person even was this trainer? Beating up on some poor, defenseless creature like this sentret, simply because it was possible that it may, one day, evolve into something more? Now it was true that every wild pokemon out there had to be prepared for this day to come. A day when they would find themselves against a trainer intent on beating it into submission. But the worst case scenario there was that they might find themselves captured and forced to go on some grand adventure. Or a boring one, all depending on the person that they wound up being with. This, though? It was unreal. It could just feel the life being squeezed out of it. And to hear the trainer demand that the same thing be done to it, as if it weren't already getting squished up so terribly. What could it do? Just allow this to happen, and let the carnivine try to get away with its monstrous behavior by chalking it up as following orders and having no culpability of his own? No! Absolutely not! "You're doing this to me!" it cried out, eyes locking onto the other pokemon's. "As much as you want to put the blame on your human, not all of it can go on him! He might be making the commands, but you're following them!" Its beady little eyes stared at its foe, so desperately wanting to make sure that guilt would follow him for days to come. "That is your choice! Between that and refusing to let this man have me killed, you are doing this to me!"And with that horrible realization said out loud, it did the only thing it could think of to follow that up with. It growled at the larger pokemon, angry, hurt, and oh so very scared. Umshoo wasn't coming. Nobody was coming to its rescue. So if it would die, then so be it. It could at least try to die with some dignity! Wild Encounter Weather: Heatwave (harsh sun) [attr="class","qkt-bkgd"] [attr="class","qkt-wild-pkmn"] Wild Sentret LV 4 HP 22% [4/18]

The poor wretched creature begged for mercy to the Grim Reaper herself. What was she supposed to do? Free this little creature and return back to her master only to suffer the wrath that Caribes would inflict upon her? A shudder crawled down her long steam and caused her to fan her long leafy arms out at the side of her massive head in an awkward shrug. If she had to be the boogieman then so be it. What she couldn’t risk was becoming an utter disappointment to her trainer. Caribes would do more than disown her – they would most likely make this Sentret’s fate her own. “I am doing this to you.” She rationalized with a long, somber sigh. “And I thought you would work with me so that you could at least see another tomorrow.” But alas, no. This little rabbit spoke in hopes to…
What exactly? In hopes that Kayako would hear its pleas? “Kayako!” There her trainer was, ready to unleash the ultimate ‘hurry up’ in that voice they used that promised to spell her own demise if she thought twice about listening to them. “Time to stall, girl. Your vines are doing enough damage for now. Just use Growth.” Kayako turned around while doing everything she could to hold as tight to her prey as possible. She levitated closer towards Caribes and tilted her head. Was he asking her to stall the match for another round? Why? She could tell that this hare was done for and surely the hare knew that its life was nearing an end. So, what other purpose could it serve if she prolonged the match for another round? What would an extra round of Growth do now, that her vines couldn’t easily do to help the beast succumb to its demise now?
“I’m…not sure what my trainer is…” It was the truth. Caribes carried themselves with an awkward sense of fashion, though they mostly wore suits for important events and flashy moments. She’d never really heard them refer to themselves as anything other than a Team Rocket member or as their title, either. It was easy to look on the outside and assume that Caribes was some monstrous man. Human, sure. Trainer, definitely. Team Rocket future member? Wholeheartedly. But that was the extent of her knowledge and all she cared to understand about Caribes. “But if it's between you or me, it’s you.” She added the last part with a twisted sense of malice that dripped from her lips.
Maybe she relished in the pain that she caused others. Her heart ached for the freedom that she could never attain. This furry rabbit lived and relished in that freedom everyday of its life. Here she was, coming up with a solid plan to help the wild hare retain that same freedom. Did it thank her? Welcome her plan with open arms? Did it even try to understand why she was bound by fate to see to its untimely demise? No. The hare wanted to only focus on its problems and what it was going through. Even if they were legitimate concerns, Kayako found this wild hare to be rather obsessed with itself and its own morality that they would risk anything and everything around them. But, if she were placed in Sentret’s shoes, wouldn’t she do the same? Kayako’s body began to glow with the same strange green light she had used before as she tried to expand and swell her body to be even larger than it already was. Would she want the other Pokemon to throw itself under the bus for her to save her own life?
Did she even want to defend her own life anymore? So many questions Kayako still hadn’t determined the answers for.

Those vines were wrapped so tight around it, it really didn't know what it could do! Prayers were good and all, but they weren't exactly getting the poor thing out of this predicament now were they? On the contrary, the lack of an answer in this moment of crisis was starting to make the sentret wonder if it had been horribly misled all its life. Mommy used to always say that it was important you prayed to the almighty ones, so that they would protect you from the terrible dangers of the world. Yet here it was now, wrapped up in that very danger and about to lose its life, it just knew it! Ready for the end to come, sentret seized itself up in preparation... and then frowned to itself. Its enemy was simply getting bigger in size, for a few moments anyway, as if it were pumping itself up. Whatever for?! Did its trainer think that it needed to be even stronger in order to finish the poor thing off? That didn't seem likely, but if the human was afraid, somehow, that sentret would prove to be too strong, then it could try to play into that! "Umshoo, fortify me so that I may survive this terrible plight!" it cried, doing its best to curl up within those vines, making a tight ball with its body. Like this was really going to do much of anything to keep it from being completely obliterated. For a moment, though it actually thought that maybe it had unlocked the secrets to staying alive. Perhaps this was going to be the very thing that would wind up saving its life. The one thing that it could pass on to its own children someday down the line, when it was talking about the most evilest baddest person in all of the world's history. And then the vines tightened again, pushing the poor sentret even closer to the end. So close, now, as a matter of fact, that it thought it was going to pass out any second now. "Whatever I did to deserve this... I am sorry," it squeaked. To whom, it was unclear. But it stared up at the sky, as if something looking down over it now could hear it. Playing the long game proved to be the most advantageous strategy that the individual had put in play. Though Caribes had no doubt in their carnivorous plant’s abilities, they had other teammates that they had to consider. One such teammate had been a hassle from the start and made the fifty-year year old question how long the little guy would be a maintain on their teams. Were personal computers a bad life to give a Pokemon indefinitely? Caribes smirked as they imagined their Pokemon being stuck as a sequences of 0s and 1s for all of eternity, unable to break free and escape the everlasting torment of the internal storage. Then again, the Professors loved to free the lowly creatures and allow them to run and stretch their legs…but why? Why bother freeing them when most of the beasts were just as likely to snap you up and destroy your real family, forcing you to move in with adoptive parents that played mommy and daddy for the remainder of your life?
Then again…they were getting away with simple notions. Notions they had witnessed firsthand when their best friend, who happened to be an Anorith, allowed its mother to rampage and end the lives of their parents. Caribes frowned as they hardened their eyes and thought back to the data they had gathered about Furret specifically that made them so sure it was too powerful a possibility to allow this Sentret to escape and see the light of another day. A six foot long snake-like ferret was more than capable enough of ending a small child’s life if it had half a heart to do so. “Return Kayako. I’m proud of the work you’ve done here.” Caribes commented in a low, gruff tone. As soon as the plant Pokemon would disappear in the flash of a bright red beam of light, Caribes dug around in their pockets and pulled out another small red-and-white Pokeball. They would unleash their terrorizing little sentient clump of precious coral, even if it meant temporarily freeing the small rodent from their plant Pokemon’s long vines.
“Octalus, come out and play.” Caribes regretted their decision as soon as the bright pink and blue Pokemon appeared, hopping up and down excitedly while kicking his feet and waving his hands around. He stopped, pressing one hand to his face, and glanced around until his eyes landed squarely on the beaten up and downtrodden brown rabbit. “Woah, my friend!” Octalus’ voice boomed loud and clear, rustling the tall leaves of a nearby patch of wheatgrass. “You’ve seen better days! Are you not conditioning every day? I feel like you’re not conditioning everyday!” He laughed before pumping his arms and preparing for the fight that would be like…a hit at beast…to hurry the battle along.
Caribes sighed heavily as they placed their pale hands on both sides of their face and drug their palms down across their cheeks. Why were they even humoring this energy spitfire of a Pokemon? Octalus was proving to be…difficult…to say the least. The more Caribes thought about leaving the Pokemon trapped as some long lost code within the storage capacity of their PC, the more they wanted to make the thoughts a reality. “Listen carefully, Octalus. I need you to blast that little guy with all you’ve got. But I bet you only know Tackle, so let’s start with that.” The small bunch of coral turned to Caribes and stared at his trainer boldly in the eyes. “Yeah…yeah…I hear ya. One minute, dude, ok? Just one minute! The world ain’t ending…yet!” Octalus snapped back at his trainer the same same ferocity and tone that Caribes had used with their Pokemon.
Octalus swung back around to the Sentret and hopped back over, trying to poke and prod at the wild hare. His curiosity had the best of him. Not because he wanted to know why he was called on to beat up on a poor, defenseless Sentret. That didn’t bother him one bit. Instead, the Corsola just wanted to know what had crippled the Pokemon so firmly within an inch of its life that it looked like the wind itself could blow it over and take the Sentret out. “Sooo….tell me, my dude.” Octalus chattered away, bouncing on the top of his feet. “Was it Teddy that did this or Annabelle? Don’t tell me it was Vetril…he couldn’t hurt a fly. No, I mean it. I’ve seen him try!” Octalus would then try to slam into the small furry mammal with all of his might in his excitement, adamantly focused on their conversation than he was on actually battling.
Did she even want to defend her own life anymore? So many questions Kayako still hadn’t determined the answers for.

It was done for. Sentret knew that it was done for, and yet it couldn't even muster up the energy to say anything else. There was nothing more to do, nothing more to say. Somehow it had actually managed to get caught up in the way of some kind of evil man that was bent on wiping the world of pokemon that could evolve. As if they were some kind of horrid disease plaguing the planet. Maybe he legitimately thought that, and believed that he was doing a good thing. But that didn't take away from the fact that he was still a very bad, horrible man with absolutely zero chances of living a fulfilled and happy life. He would die a man that had never been touched by a woman. Or a man. Whatever. Didn't matter. Nurses and doctors would have probably thought about breaking their oath if they had this sick ba- uh... man sitting in their office. The carnivine was returned. And finally the sentret was free. Now if only it could actually manage to run away. But all that happened once those vines were no longer holding onto it was that it simply fell to the ground. It was a miracle that that alone didn't finish the poor thing off. And now it was wondering... what was going to happen to it next? What more torture could it possibly have to go through before the final, sweet release of death? Energetic coral boy was way too much. So much so, actually, that the sentret thought about crying out for him to simply curb stomp it into complete and total unconsciousness. And then they could do whatever else they wanted with its body. It wouldn't matter at that point. Honestly, all it could do was simply curl up into itself, praying somehow that it might survive and wake up later, hopefully surrounded by friends. Sentret was barely able to look up at the other pokemon. It could tell that he was asking it what had happened exactly. But... it didn't even know where to start. And when it finally opened its mouth to give it a go... that was the end. The corsola may have been into the conversation that he thought was going on, but he didn't take into account the fact that this sentret really was that close to just being knocked out. So that tackle? Yeah, it knocked the poor creature right out of commission. But of course that's what Octalus needed to do, in order to please his trainer. That's what mattered to him, right? Well either way, there in ended the battle and yeah.. it's sad. What can you do though? Kayako grew to level 6! Octalus grew to Level 4! The adamant clump of corals tilted his head and prodded the fainted carcass with his hands. What was wrong with this Pokemon? Did it always sleep on the job? “You realize we’re battling, right?” Octalus asked his opponent and waited for a response. Nope, nada, nothing. Zilch. What in the world had this Sentret’s tongue? He pried the sleeping Pokemon’s mouth open and stared deep inside of Sentret’s throat. No, there wasn’t a Joltik or biting down on the wild hare’s tongue. Why wasn’t he responding, then?! “Hey…ugh…come on! You’re making a fool out of our…what do trainers call this? Battle? Sounds right.” Octalus demanded. He pushed and shoved at the furry brown mammal’s thick hide, but barely managed to move Sentret an inch in either direction.
What did this bloody thing even eat? Cherubos?! Didn’t Sentret know that those tasty snacks were bad for your heart?! So many trainers died every year from heart disease by eating all of these filler snacks and not even thinking twice. Here we had a poor, susceptible wild Sentret that must have been snacking pretty heavily on them as well, given how round he was. He must have weighed at least a ton alone! “Listen, I’m only telling you this because I care man but, ugh…” Corsola spoke up and jumped on top of Sentret’s stomach. He bounced on the fainted Pokemon, flying up high into the air for brief intervals before crashing back down to earth. “You can say no to the snacks every once in a while. And would it kill you to jog?!”
Caribes growled underneath their breath and flared their nostrils. What was Octalus doing? The way he carried on over the useless Pokemon made Caribes think that Octalus actually cared about the other Pokemon. “Don’t play with your food, Octalus.” The grey haired trainer snapped their fingers. Caribes turned away from their teammate and pushed on further down the route, whistling for Octalus to follow closely behind. “We’re wasting daylight anyways. Come on.” The command was simple. The follow through was mandatory. Caribes couldn’t have cared less about the emotional turmoil their Pokemon must have experienced seeing the wild Sentret in a crumpled heap on the ground. They only cared about moving forward and completing their one true mission.
Octalus waved a hand stubbornly in their trainer’s direction. “I hear you…I do! But Mr. Can’t-Say-No-to-a-Snack here needs Weight Watchers on speed dial!” The bright pink Pokemon with his large horn-like growths along his back commented loudly. Why was it always do this and do that, anyways? Where was the time to sit back and watch the clouds roll across the bright blue sky? Unless you were this tubby little Pokemon…Sentret definitely watched too many clouds rolling across the bright blue sky. Heh. “I think he left his life alert in his den! We need to call Nurse Joy out here, don’t you think?” Octalus called out in alarm. “Or preserve the body…ya know…waste not, want not kinda thing?!”
Of course. Caribes stopped dead in their tracks and spun around to face off with their energetic bundle of corals. Why did they choose to keep this Pokemon? Why wasn’t Octalus already forgotten about within the digital world of the PC? They really needed a valid reason to keep the stupid Pokemon on their team and couldn’t begin to think of one. “You know what…it’s not worth the fight.” Caribes finally agreed. They pulled Octalus’ Pokeball out of their pocket and recalled the Pokemon with the click of a button. They’ll work on whipping that one into shape later. Much later.
Clearly Octalus either needed that or they needed to be dropped off in the filthiest waters Caribes could find. Caribes turned back around after recalling their Pokemon and continued strolling down the route as they enjoyed the cooler temperatures. Even if the climate was just barely cooling off by a couple of degrees, anything was better than the previous heatwave. Maybe they would luck across someone within the organization that could point them down the right path, or maybe they would just stumble upon more of these pathetic Sentret out trying to make a name for themselves.

It had begun cooling off, and things were much more bearable now than they had been just a bit ago. Why I would even say that Future Rocket Boy would say there was a pretty big difference from the time that he started battling the sentret. You know, the one that apparently was way too fat to function properly and needed to skip a meal or two to make up for it. Let's just say that I'm glad that I can rest easy knowing that the poor thing was knocked out cold so it didn't have to hear any of that. Could you imagine if Caribes started a whole self confidence crisis on Route 29? I don't think I'd really enjoy seeing an anorexic patrat looking over the corpse of a malnourished pidgey. But that's just me. Maybe that's the kind of thing Caribes wants to see, given that they're all evolving pokemon. Filth or what have you. "Finally!" The voice came out of nowhere. Or off to the far right, whatever it may be. If Caribes even cared to take a look, it was a young boy, no older than ten, and he had been over by some trees. He definitely seemed to be looking for something, although it was hard to tell what that might have been. Given that this is Route 29, and he's pretty young, it probably wouldn't be so wrong to assume that he was a new trainer as well. Kind of young, but you know how it is with parents these days, letting their little ones off to go play Pokemon Master before they even finished a proper education. Weirdos. "You have no idea how long I've been waiting for you for!" He came right up to Caribes, looking quite pleased for the moment. "Well, not you exactly. But somebody like you! My name is Mikey, and I've really needed to battle someone for like... well all day! See, my best friend Joey said that he battled this mega awesome trainer just the other day, and I told him that the only reason why it seemed like he was so awesome is because all he has is a really lousy rattata." As he said this, it was pretty obvious he was trying to puff himself up like he was super cool. "Now I have to prove it, so do you think it'd be cool if we battled? Just so I can show that it is way possible to have a legitimate good battle. I mean, my rattata is actually good."

Caribes pulled a small breath of air into their lungs and slowly released it. They raised a single eyebrow in mild curiosity as a small child called out to them excitedly and raced over to them. They were young. They were impressionable. And most importantly, children were the only types to never meet a stranger. Caribes scanned themselves from their chest down. Caribes raised their hands and smiled as they waved the young lad over to their side. “Finally?” Caribes repeated the youngster’s statement as a question, flipping it back around, and tilted their head inquisitively. “Were you expecting me?”
Mikey introduced himself. In doing so, the young lad spilled the beans on his backstory and told Caribes all that they needed to know about the hyperactive youngster. Mikey was the type to pick fights with his friends. These fights would make their bonds stronger and would help the young boys determine a hierarchy amongst each other. Mikey hoped that his Pokemon were the strongest, coolest, and all over best. When the time would come, Mikey would strive to be the first to evolve his Pokemon. Caribes was nearly positive that they had the boy pegged down within seconds. “Joey?”
They raised a hand and tapped the side of their chin thoughtfully as they glanced up at the small, puffy white clouds above. “Let me guess…Joey’s Pokemon are weak? Or no…they just don’t listen very well?” Caribes asked Mikey directly, trying to determine how the hierarchy amongst the youngsters must have already established itself by now. Mikey wanted to be the best so Mikey must either be the leader of his friend’s group or he must be vying for the spot. If he was the leader, taking the kid down with tact would ultimately serve Caribes’ goal in the long run. If Mikey was lower on the totem pole, then beating him swiftly would give Mikey better goals and cause the paradigm shift in Mikey’s friendship pool to follow along Caribes’ pathways. The stones were just starting to set into their molds, so Caribes knew that they would have to tread carefully.
“But I bet you win all your battles, huh? What with having a Rattata and a Pidgey!” Caribes laughed and fished around in his collection of Pokemon for one of their Pokeballs. They pulled out Chuckie’s ball with a sweet, innocent smile that deceptively hid their motived behind their charm. “I dunno…a battle…oh boy!” Caribes took in a deep breath of air and sighed heavily. They reached a hand up and scratched the back of their neck as their eyes dropped to the ground below. Their shy act was meant to beguile the small child and help build the illusion that Caribes already thought that Mikey was the strongest battler they’d ever heard of. “Yeah, I think I can do that! Chuckie, come on out and play! Let’s play copycat, ok?”
The strange doll appeared in the burst of a bright beam of red light. He stood still and carefully glanced Mikey up and down with heavy interest as he waited for his ultimate prey. It felt good to be free. Even as the temperate day waned with a gently billowing breeze, the disguised Pokemon pulled on the tattered Pikachu doll that hid his true form and bounced up and down cutely. “Kyyuuu!” Chuckie squealed in a voice and tone that was meant to do a perfect ‘chuuu’ to imitate the famous yellow mouse as it slapped its tail back and forth on the ground. Caribes’ raised eyebrow turned towards their own Pokemon as they pondered whether Chuckie was trying to play into their act with Mikey as well. Were they, or was this another weird quirk of Pokemon in general? Hmm…
OOC: Sending out Chuckie and using Copycat. You usually want to state which of their Pokemon they're sending out to battle for the player. Unless Mikey is instigating a double battle. O: If so, I'll also send out Octalus who uses Harden. Words: 708 | Caribes - Teddy - Kayako - Octalus - Chuckie

The boy seemed to think his answer over a little bit before responding. "It's just really weak. Like... I don't get it, because he swears up and down that it's like the best Rattata in the entire world. His mom told him that it's like in the top percentage or something, which is just dumb. I mean, of course his mom told him that. She probably wants to make him feel good, you know?"Mikey definitely seemed to think that his friend was nothing special whatsoever, which would make most people wonder why he was friends with the other kid in the first place. But then again, most people aren't sociopaths that are deconstructing what they perceive to be the nuances of a circle of friends made up of children. Yeah, we all know who I'm talking about, and it's not the little kid who is being hoodwinked into thinking that this guy is actually pretty nice and might make for a good friendly opponent for a battle. "Oh boy, thank you so much, mister!" Clearly incredibly excited, Mikey tossed out his first pokeball, which apparently held a rattata inside. "Let's start with a tail whip!"Before rattata moved, however, the other pokemon was already trying to do something. It seemed to be studying its opponent, as if trying to figure out what exactly it was doing. Whatever it was doing, it seemed to stop, and rattata sprung into action, leaping towards its foe and doing something of a somersault in the air, lashing its tail down over the opponent. "Good job! Great way to start the battle, we're going to do so awesome!" The poor kid had no idea what was coming their way. Caribes smiled fondly as his Pokemon stood there as though it were lost and in a daze. Was it simply that weak and pathetic that its attacks seemed to do nothing at all? The older individual with greying hand placed a hand to the side of their face and dropped their mouth in a shocked ‘oh’. “That wasn’t very good, was it?” Caribes spoke simply, as though they were asking Mikey for their opinion. They sighed heavily and hung their head for a second. “Darn. I guess I need some pointers. Would you mind telling me everything you know about being a good battler?” Caribes asked Mikey curiously.
Mikey made his move by instructing his furry purple rodent to wag its tail at Caribes’ Pokemon. A simple eyebrow raise was all that Caribes seemed to give in response as they glanced at their Pokemon who took the ‘attack’ in stride. So they were setting up their play for the long haul? Too bad that wouldn’t help them in the grand scheme of things. Though, Caribes’ mind was jumping ahead of itself, so they slowed it down to focus on the moment at hand. “A top percentage Rattata…I knew a kid with one of those back in my youth.” They gulped as their face contorted through a series of emotions – from shock, to horror, to sadness. “I miss my friend…after it evolved…” Caribes choked back the tears as their eyes puffed up and thick globs of water droplets clung to their corners. “But I bet Joey’s mom is just telling him that to make him feel special. Just like you’re saying, huh?” Caribes used the back of their arm to wipe away the tears and forced themselves to smile through the ‘pain’.
Caribes wanted Mikey to become so curious that they had to ask about what happened to their friend. If Caribes gave away too much information at the start then it would come off as unbelievable. If they were too eager to share all of it right away, even after being asked only once, then it might come off as though Caribes’ simply didn’t understand the intricacies of what really happened or as though their would making it out to be more than it was. No, a slow and steady, choking back the memories that flooded their mind, approach would be best. Plus, Mikey hadn’t quite revealed enough for Caribes to be sure that he was the leader of his friend’s group. They needed to delve just a bit deeper. “I must have forgotten in my old age…” Caribes mumbled to themselves just loud enough that they were sure Mikey could overhear. “But you’re helping me to remember, Mikey! Thanks! Battling is such fun when you have a helpful Pokemon!”
Then, Caribes turned to their Pokemon, who turned his doll’s head towards his trainer. “Since Copycat didn’t work…please try Scratch.” Chuckie wasn’t quite sure what he trainer was up to. Was there even a plan inside of Caribes’ head? He doubted it. Caribes was such a strange man and the way to commanded them left a lot to be desired. Chuckie loved the torture and torment that they put wild Pokemon through. It was the way that Caribes’ seemed to conduct themselves – with a twisted and sadistic sense of humor – around other people that really made Chuckie question. But what did he know? “Take this little rat!” He rushed after the other Pokemon, unleashing large black claws up from underneath the small Pikachu doll to try and slash into his opponent. Whatever Caribes had planned, Chuckie hoped it would be well worth it.

"Not at all!" Mikey agreed wholeheartedly and with a hint of disappointment, how could he show how awesome his rattata was if his opponent never attacking him? The boy grinned and looked proud when he older man asked for his advice. He scratched the back of his head as he thought what a good battler was. "A good battler is like the champion! Strong and good and wins it all!" He exclaimed and pounded the air with his fists, "you have strong pokemon and you can make a tactic and you are a good loser too!"Mikey was sure he was all of it, of course there were others who had stronger pokemon but he was young and had ages to perfect his skills. He had won over lots of his friends which of course often was because he simply had more pokemon that they did but also because he had a basic tactic which they usually didn't realize before it was too late. Mikey's eyes grew wide when Caribes chocked up, "are you okay Mister?" He asked kindly not used to see adults cry. "It will be alright, don't worry! You'll see him again! I'm sure he'll come back from his travel soon!" He reasured, if Caribes friend had a great rattata that had even evolved then he must been traveling far! "Yeah! Joey's just a regular rattata!" Mikey was quick to reassure not sure how those things were connected with Caribes missing his friend. "He don't know how to use its moves and is a really sore loser!""No problem Mister!" Mikey said relieved that Caribes seemed more happy again, one thing was to comfort a friend at his own age but a big adult? That was just strange. "But wouldn't your pokemon not be more helpful if it did what you said?" Mikey pointed out cluelessly and sent Caribes an apologetically smile, "I'm going to give it my all," he warned. "Go rattata! Tackle!" He shouted eagerly and his rattata pelted over the ground, straight at Chuckie who proved to be a tad faster. A shadowy claw swiped from under the cloth and threw Rattata to the ground, interrupting its attack. Mikey's mouth fell open. The rattata had felt confident that this battle would be like the many others it had had before, a bit of setting up and then it would outrun its opponent and tackle them until they gave up. It was not worried that the mimikyu rushed straight at it, that was common too, but it had not expected to be thrown around like that. It rolled to its feet and shot Chuckie a wary glance, "what are you hiding? Too scared to show yourself?" It taunted, frustrated things hadn't worked out as usually. Caribes’ smile never faltered while they listened to Mikey explain what made someone a ‘good’ trainer. What an interesting turn of events. Mikey felt as thought that battlers should model themselves after the Champion – something that Caribes was sure most small children felt to be true, as well. Their soft amber eyes flickered from their small doll-like Pokemon to the purple rat as the two faced off against each other. “So you want to be like the champion, then?” Caribes nodded, rubbing their arms with their hands. “Oh, strong Pokemon! They’re so powerful…and scary…” Caribes mumbled the last part just above a whisper under their breath. They wanted Mikey to hear them, but they wanted it to be less of a loud proclamation and instead more like eavesdropping on Mikey’s part.
Caribes rubbed the back of their head and looked away a bit uncomfortably. Their eyes blinked several times as the salty tears sprang forth once more. Even if the friend that Caribes spoke up wasn’t entirely truthful, the memories that they used to cause them to cry were. In their mind, Caribes could still hear their mother calling out to them as she rushed to her child and yanked them out of harm’s way. Caribes would never again hear her voice and hadn’t heard it since they were a young child. It hurt and felt a lot like pouring salt into an open wound as the memories flooded the back of their mind. Caribes wiped most of the waterworks away with one arm and shook their head. “I’m afraid he won’t ever come back from his travels.” Caribes bit their lower lip and stared uncomfortably at the ground. “I mean…it was a long time ago but…it feels like yesterday… but you’re here to battle!” Caribes shook their head firmly and turned to Chuckie.
“Chuckie use Copycat!” The future Rocket member nodded towards Mikey’s purple rodent with a bright smile. It felt weird being so sweet and innocent. Like honey dripping off of the comb to splash on the immaculately cleaned white tiles. It created an internal mess for Caribes. They would much rather twist Mikey’s understanding of the Pokemon around him so that he could be self-aware of the dangers that lurked in Pokemon evolution. It would be easier for Mikey to see why he shouldn’t put all his faith in the ‘strongest’ and ‘most powerful’ Pokemon that he could get his hands on. It would also save Caribes a lot of headache and hassle if they didn’t have to basically steal candy from a baby. Only time would tell if their plan would come to fruition in the way that they had hoped. Mikey's comment was completely accurate, though, so Caribes would simply agree. “Obedient Pokemon that you can easily lead in the right direction are the best ones to work with! At least...I'd say so...”
Chuckie laughed as Rattata spoke to him. Was he scared of a simply rodent that couldn’t even manage a single hit? Or was it something more? When Rattata ran full-force after the doll-like ghostly Pokemon, Chuckie would collapse on their side and scream out in terrorizing pain. He watched Rattata’s moves very carefully so that when Caribes gave their instruction, Chuckie would spring back up on the tops of his strange black body. He carefully tried to fix his doll before running after Rattata in the same manner he'd watched the Rattata rush at him. “I’m hiding a boogeyman underneath my doll!” The Pokemon’s voice dripped with sinister delight. “Have you ever danced with the devil in the pale moonlight? Because, you’re about to start dancing today!” Caribes smiled pleasantly with a singular raised eyebrow as they watched Chuckie’s newfound determination and vigor. Did they find a spring of information that caused their Quirky Mimkyu react the way that he did, or was it something that Mikey’s Rattata said?

"Yeah!" Mikey exclaimed and his eyes shone by the thought of being as cool and strong and great as the Champion. Having a team that awesome and with everyone around one looking up to you because you are just that great! Standing after having beaten yet another challenger and receiving the cheering from all the spectators, all the gym leaders fighting to sit at your side at the table, all the famous actors would spent time with him and take him to amusement parks and all his would play videogames with him all the time! Because of course an adult champion wanted to do the same things as a ten year old kidMikey didn't think about he was ears dropping, they were talking together after all so why would Caribes say something which wasn't meant for his ears. "Scary?" He asked loudly to make sure he had heard Caribes correctly and then giggled with his hands covering his mouth, "They are not scary! They are awesome!"His grin disappeared instantly when Caribes clearly got sad and he fidgeted uncomfortably, "it will be alright!" He called reassuringly to Caribes and looked relieved when it seemed like the adult trainer pushed his sorrow to the side. Mikey sent Caribes an odd look as he wasn't really sure what the man was hinting with his ominously talk. the boy felt like something went over his head, he hated when adults did that, it made him feel stupid. He chose to simply ignore it and tackle the problem at hand: the battle. "It's fast but you're faster Rattata!" Mikey called reassuringly, "Go for a quick attack!"As it didn't work out quite as he had expected he frowned and would comment baffled "what happened?"Rattata laid down its ears and snorted at Chukie's first words, "boogieman?" It asked mockingly, "what are you, a baby?" It rolled its eyes at the mimikyu's threats as it sounded very childish to it and twitched an ear at Mikey's order and was off in a dash. It leaped at Chuckie who had no way of dodging but didn't try to either and the rat connected.. and seemed to fly through even thought the cloth was solid enough, it just gave in and gently caressed the rattatas side as it rushed past. Before the rattata got its footing fully again the mimikyu was moving and slammed into it and threw it to the ground again.
