Morty nodded and smiled as Alex seemed to question why ghost Pokemon would be territorial. “It is a question that has plagued many researchers…” Morty crossed his arms over his chest and hummed softly to himself. Studying his Gengar in the midst of the battle, looking tougher and stronger with the help of his berry, got Morty settling deep into his own thoughts. It wasn’t like this question wasn’t posed for other species and types of Pokemon, however. Just a natural curiosity you would have for any creature, really, that displayed particularly odd behaviors than you might have once imagined. “Some have thought that the original souls that became the ghastly Pokemon get trapped in areas they either died at or were strongly attached to.” Morty explained, though even his explanation seemed to hint that these findings were conclusive.
Chryaisy moved swiftly across the field. Morty squinted as the smile slipped to only a light touch on his face. Something seemed different than how she moved in the beginning, which was no doubt thanks to the dance she displayed for them earlier. It helped her move swiftly across the field as though nothing could strike her without her having the first hit first. When Alex called out his move first, Morty raised a curious eyebrow. “Let’s see if she can hold out long enough for your move. Are you sure you didn’t want to recall or heal her first?” He gestured towards the tired out plant with her bright red flower on top of her head. “Very well…Gengar another Shadow Ball, please.”
Gengar’s large fox-like ears pricked curiously and his large, Cheshire cat grin covered his face wide enough it might have looked like it would start to swallow Gengar’s face whole. Still, the Pokemon swayed from one foot to the other and slowly floated up in the air, preparing his attack as Morty had instructed. Chryaisy zipped across the ground nimbly on the tips of her feet until she was within range, and fired several tiny seeds that surrounded Gengar and sunk into his ethereal hide, wrapping him in several small vines that slowly drained his lifeforce from him. Gengar retaliated, firing several small shadowy balls from his palms that would cause Lilligant to collapse on the ground before them. “Ah…poor thing. So Alex, do plant Pokemon simply not compete for shared natural resources? Or have territorial disputes?” Morty asked curiously while the judge announced, “Chryaisy is unable to battle! Gengar is the winner of this round!” in the background. To Alex's last question, Morty explained further, "Well Gengar can use the move again. My apologies, I explained that poorly. I meant that each time he uses it, it will only affect him once. For half his health, it'll keep draining the Pokemon he curses continually while they're in battle."
