Valon woke up early, looking forward to doing some training before Route 29 gets flooded with trainers. The sun shined through the window of the building. "Another nice day!" Valon said yawning. He then quickly ran downstairs, not wanting to wake his Pokémon, which woke up right when Valon rushed out the bedroom door. After heading downstairs, Valon went to the stove and made breakfast for him and his Pokémon. After he was finished cooking, him and his Pokémon sat down at the dining table and started to chow down. Suddenly his watch beeped, signaling he need to head to the route since it was getting late. Valon took the plates and put them in the sink, not wanting to wash them. Him and his Pokémon rushed out of the house out towards Route 29. Route 29 was a bit quiet, and a cool breeze blew from behind them. The warm sun warmed Valon's face. He wandered around the Route looking for Pokémon or trainers alike.

The early bird gets the worm, or so they say. The statement was especially true for the various birds that called Route 29, all competing for a chance at being the one to snatch up the biggest bugs for their own breakfast. Luckily for them and for Valon, there were not many Trainers walking through this route just yet; many of the Trainers still in this area either being total beginners or mere hobbyists rather than the type of hardened and experienced Trainers who might wake up at the crack of dawn in search or rare or unique Pokemon. So as Valon and his team entered the Route, they would find plenty of Pokemon scurrying about. Bug-types slinking into the tall grass and into treeholes in search of a place to hide from the early risers of the world; birds flying overhewad, circling over all that they saw in search of some kind of morsel. If he was searching for Pokemon, one of them might be an easier find than trying to chase after any of the prey animals that were fleeing to go hide. However, before he would have any chance to go properly hunting, something had opted to come hunting for him. From above, a rather large sparrow-like Pokemon swooped in. This human was up early, and in the hunting grounds of the local Spearow flock. They couldn't go having Valon chase off all the good snacks before the flock had a chance to give it a fair go; this Spearow had appeared, ready to scare the boy off from their hunting grounds, by any means necessary. The Spearow flapped its wings furiously, trying to stay aloft despite its species awkwardness in the air; nevertheless, it sent out a pretty clear message: for Valon to continue, he would have to go through this bird first. A wild Spearow (Level 8) has appeared! What will Valon do? Weather Conditions: ClearShiny? Ls_cDzPT1-421-42

Valon wandered through the route, but heard a screech from above. He looked up only to find a bird circling bird he couldn't recognize. Suddenly the bird swooped down towards Valon almost hitting his head if he ad not dodged it. "Whoa!" he exclaimed. The bird landed in front of Valon looking for a battle. Valon gave a determined look and nodded, accepting the challenge. "Alright!" he said. "Lets do this!" Valon took out a pokeball, threw it and said, "Go Shocker!" Shocker popped out of the pokeball, ready to fight. Valon then said, "Use Thunder Wave and paralyze this Spearow!" Shocker then generated some electricity in its body and shot it towards the Spearow.

Being the leader of this particular flock of Spearow, the wild Pokemon was used to others being intimidated and scared of it. So, when the trainer refused to back down and instead threw a poke ball forward, it didn't really make the wild bird too happy. After all, it was a challenge! Now, it would have to teach this human and its pets that you don't barge into someone else's territory. A flash of light signaled the arrival of the Spearow's opponent, the lad's Mareep. Sneering, the wild bird was not impressed. It had seen these sheep before, and they were not so tough. Fluffy, but not really tough. In an effort to assert dominance before the fight truly begun, the Spearow's eyes started to glow red, and it positioned itself so that it was staring Shocker down. Caught off guard, the Mareep hesitated a bit and took a step back, slightly intimidated from the glowing red orbs that used to be normal eyes. However, the electric type quickly shook off the moment and the electricity began to crackle along his wool. When he was charged up, the blue energy shot forward, surrounding the bird. Cawing in surprise and in pain, the electricity surged around the Spearow as it momentarily spazzed on the ground. Breathing hard, the initial surge of electricity abated and the bird looked to the Mareep, hate in its eyes. "Good work!" Valon shouted to Shocker praising him. Him and his pokemon we're halfway there. "Now we have to weaken it and then I will have a clear shot of catching it." he thought. His pokemon might have an advantage against the spearow, but Valon should at least expect the unexpected. The spearow might have a trick up it's sleaves, or beak since it's a bird pokemon. Nonetheless we won't go down without a fight. It's time to test Shocker's spark move and weaken it. "Shocker!" Valon shouted. Shocker acknowledged his owner and came to attention. "Use spark!" Shocker charged electricity and shot it toward the Spearow.

Spearow struggled as the paralysis kicked its butt. Even its tailfeathers were twitching! The wild bird knew that these strange blue sheeps with their dense white wool tended to carry a bit of static electricity in them. It was sure it calculated the perfect wind speed and carefully remained at a distance that it wouldn’t have to worry about having that electricity disperse through its body. But it never expected the wooly creature to be able to send its attack outward and aim it just so that it would actually hit the winged avian before Spearow could safely fly away! While Spearow struggled with its understanding of the world and what this meant for its ego, Shocker blinked in confusion. The smile on the jolly blue sheep’s face never left though it couldn’t quite understand what Valon was asking it to do. Spark? Wasn’t that basically what it did when it sent a wave of electricity to cripple the little bird where it stood? Or was it something more like a shock that Valon was looking for? He bleated towards its trainer pleading with Valon to be a bit more clear about what he was asking it to do. How were sparks made that weren’t shocks or waves?? This was all the time that the leader bird needed. As it managed to shake away the worst of its paralysis – at least for the moment being – it would show this tough little Baa Baa Blue Sheep just how much wool it wasn’t asking for Shocker to donate. Exactly none, that’s how much! Spearow screamed in a loud sharp trill as it growled menacingly at Valon and his Pokemon. They better think twice before they mess with Spearow or its flock! That growl just had to be the growl of the century! It would be surprised if its growl didn’t send them running for the hills, heh. "Oops!" Valon said out loud facepalming out of embarrassment. He just called a move that Shocker doesn't know, leaving him open for an attack. Luckily the Spearow didn't attack yet so maybe he was in the clear, but I need to be more careful. "Ok, let's try again!" he thought. "Shocker knows Thunder Shock, not spark. That's the move we need." Valon looked at Shocker who seemed upset for calling the wrong move. "I'm sorry Shocker!" he said. "I promise I won't do that ever again!" Shocker gave a smile, knowing he regretted messing up and forgiving him just this once. "Let's get serious this time, use Thunder Shock!" Shocker absorbed electricity and shot it towards the Spearow once again.

The Spearow shot a glare at the human, and then moved its head down toward the Mareep. It was now staring down at the electric sheep. The stern bird wanted to giggle at the human's foolishness as the Mareep did nothing, but the paralysis made it difficult to do so, and it was easier to not move a muscle. However, Shocker could feel the judgment or intimidation coming from the flying type Pokemon. The duo type was mocking the lamb with its eyes, without saying a word. Hearing the apology and encouragement from the human, the sheep shook his head and cleared up his doubts. Then, he gathered electricity from his furs and sent a weak jolt toward the enemy. The bird squawked in pain loudly, and was zapped by the weak but powerful attack. When its senses were fried, it passed out on the ground unconscious, giving the human an opportunity to capture it until it would wake up and fly away.

Valon watched as Shocker threw a shot of lightning at the Spearow, stopping it from attacking back at him. The Spearow let out one last cry and then fainted. Feeling bad for fainting it, Valon knew he had to catch it and add it to his team. He then said, "Shocker, come back." Shocker acknowledged the command and retreated back to Valon. Valon dug in his backpack for a regular pokeball and after a few minutes of digging and taking things out, he finally found a pokeball at the bottom of his backpack. He then threw it and said, "pokeball, go!" The pokeball hit the Spearow and landed on the ground once the Spearow was inside. 1...2....3... The pokeball clicked, capturing the Spearow. Valon picked up the pokeball and placed it away. He then withdrew his Shocker and said, "Good job Shocker, take a breather for a bit!" He then walked around looking for more opportunities to battle and train. The bright spring day brought many of the wild Pokemon along the route out of hiding. Small purple mice zipped through the tall grasses, causing their long blades to buckle and sway as the rodent bumped into them. Magenta caterpillars crawled slowly up the rough bark of large live oak trees whose expansive branches seemed to stretch out in all directions. Skittish meerkats peeked out from behind rocks then darted far away before Valon had a chance to give chase. And somewhere further in the distance, a loud squeal called out from something hidden and possibly larger than anything Valon had seen yet. A flock of brown feathered birds soared overhead while squawking loudly to each other. The two birds that flanked the leader, who carried his flock in the characteristically v-shaped pattern some birds would fly in, soared closer, messing up the formation. They were so high that their wings seemed to dip in and out of the white clouds that dotted the bright blue skies and wrapped lazily around the bright sun above. One of the birds in the back rammed into another one, causing the flock to turn around and attack it and kick it out of the flock. With its ego bruised, the small brown bird soared down to the ground below. “What are you looking at?!” The small brown bird puffed up. It shook itself to shake the loose feathers the other bully birds had messed up off its body. Then it preened the remaining feathers, trying to make itself look larger and more imposing. “I can take you on! I can take anyone on! I just didn’t need them anymore, is all!” It tried to sound tough. It would swoop back up into the air after Valon. If Valon didn’t call out a Pokemon quickly or do something quickly, the Pidgey would try to swoop after the young lad and grasp at his head with its sharp talons. Right after Valon picked up the pokeball with Talon in it, he then noticed another bird swooping over him. "This again?" he said with a sigh of irritation. He had just beat a flying pokemon and now he has to battle another. Oh what the heck, might as well beat it and catch it. The Pidgey landed in front of Valon and Valon prepared a pokeball to send out Blaze. "Go, Blaze!" he yelled. The pokeball landed on the ground and Blaze popped out, eager to battle. "Ok Blaze." Valon called. "Let's see what you can do, use ember!" Blaze positioned himself towards a tree, confused from his nap. "No, not the tree!" Valon said. "The Pidgey!" Blaze realized what he was doing and turned facing the Pidgey. He then threw a small flame towards it.

It was unclear what it was about Valon that seemed to be attracting so many birds today, but clearly there was something in the air other than Pidgey's. The new bird wasted no time in making its appearance known, letting out a deafening cry that filled the airwaves all around the battle. It was enough to make anyone's ears hurt, with even Blaze flinching at the deafening cacophony of pain and suffering. Whatever noise the Pidgey was making, it all sounded wholly unnatural and unsettling. And judging from the fact that it was not even pausing to breathe, seemingly, it had no intentions of stopping anytime soon. Blaze, however, was in luck. It spat out its little burst of flames and embers at the Pidgey, landing a lucky shot. The Pidgey's open beak, still screeching and screaming for some unearthly reason, caught more than a few cinders. The Pidgey ended up accidentally choking down a mouthful of fire for its troubles, momentarily staggering in the air as amidst the screams and shouts, coughs and hacking noises began to filter in. The Pidgey was still making that same Arceus-forsaken noise, only now the sounds of its own pain were mixed in alongside it. This only made the wild bird glare down at Valon and Blaze even further. It even seemed to be picking up in volume now that the moment of pain had left it. It was struggling to stay afloat, clearly the more injured of the two, but it seemed to have no intention of stopping this battle anytime soon. If they didn't stop it before it continued its din and noise, this battle might take a turn for the worse; the internal burns must have only motivated the bird even further against its burning counterpart. "Good job getting a critical hit Blaze!" Valon shouted, praising his Pokemon. However it seems Blaze has lost quite a bit of health. Should he risk attacking it again and fainting Blaze? He put his hand on his chin, strategizing his next move. The trees around the area blew with a warm breeze. Valon got distracted for a second, thinking about how long of a winter it has been. He finally get's to feel a warm breeze and also see the tree's bloom. He then snapped back to the battle. "Well" he thought, "Might as well try and catch him." He then shouted to his Pokemon, "Blaze, please come by my side." He dug through his backpack and took out a regular pokeball. "Alrighty then!" he said throwing the pokeball at the Pidgey. "Pokeball, go!" Valon watched as the pokeball flew at the pidgey, hoping it would be a successful catch.

The pidgey seemed deadset on filling the air with its screams, it was amazing how a little bird like that, who usually chirped rather quietly, could make a sound like this. Hadn't Valon been standing and looking at it, he wouldn't have believed the sound came from a bird. A dying pig perhaps, or whale, it sounded a lot more like that. Several rattatas scurried out from under a bush to dash away and rest their poor ears, and Blaze too looked to be affected by the high screeching. Hadn't be been fully awake from his nap before, he certainly was now! That Valon could even think in this spectacle was impressive, most people would by now just pluck their ears and run away. It was a strange idea some trainers had, that it was best to call their pokemon back to their side when trying to catch a wild one. the idea probably originated from an old tv show about how to be a trainer, aimed towards the younger audience. A lot of teachers and the like had tried to debunk the idea, but it didn't seem to have been all that effective. It was hard to work against an old way of doing something, which had been told to be the truth for years. The problem with it was that if you were unlucky the pokeball failed, you'd suddenly be very close to a potential angry pokemon, who was going for either you or your pokemon partner. It put the trainer at risk simply by standing so close to their partner, who usually was anything but ready to defend themselves against the attacking pokemon, since it had just been called back and out of battle. The clever people must rather wanted the young trainers to keep their partner as close to the pokeball and at ready, so that they could continue the battle right away and not risk their trainer. Valon was not going to see the potential problem in his actions, as the pokeball closed shut around the screeching bird and a heavenly silence spread as the pokeball shook. A quiet ding confirmed the capture and Valon was the owner of a screecher, hopefully his ears would survive. Got'cha! Blaze grows +3 levels to [Lv 8]! He learns Quick Attack! Valon watched as the Pidgey got sucked into the pokeball and the pokeball fell onto the ground. 1..2....3.... click! The Pidgey was successfully caught. Valon gave a fist bump and Blaze jumped happily at the successful caught. Valon picked up the pokeball and then put his hand palm out for Blaze to hi-five it. Blaze looked at Valon curiously and realized he wanted him to give a hi-five and then finally did. Afterwards, Valon said, "Good work Blaze! Take a rest ok? You earned it!" He then took out Blaze's pokeball and withdrew him into it. A hot breeze suddenly blew on him and Valon wiped a sudden sweat that ran down his forehead. "Now what should I do?" he asked himself. He could keep battling to get stronger, or take a break. He then realized that the first gym would probably be challenging and he should definitely keep battling for now to get his pokemon is shape for the gym. He then looked around for something to battle.
