Gettin' the bugs out [BCC]

The ghost floating by her head was not an obvious choice, Trixie had to admit. Looking around the National Park, she saw plenty of Fire-types, a few birds, and even some hardcore bug enthusiasts who were determined to catch bugs with nothing but other bugs. However, Trixie had learned a few tricks from her last contest, and she had developed a new strategy. She didn't intend to fight the opposing bugs, but rather nullify their attacks against her own Pokemon, and catch them with minimal fuss.

The bright summer afternoon and the open fields were alien to Shade, who apparated, looked up into the sky, then faded into intangibility again when his eyes flinched away from looking directly into the sun. What was his trainer asking him to do here? All she had said was that they were going to make friends. Would one of them be willing to give him a hug. Most Pokemon stayed as far away from him as possible, seemingly out of fear at his species' reputation, not to mention his odd coloring. Would one of these Pokemon be different, and give him a chance?

The referee blew the signal to start, and Trixie headed off into the depths of the park, Shade floating by her side. The tall grass posed no obstacle from him as Trixie slogged through, pushing it aside with her hands to try to rustle up the wild bugs that lived there.

The bugs in the park always waited on this day in eager anticipation. The competition was as fun for the bugs as it was for the humans, trying to hide and and tease the combatants were always fun, and it was an extra bonus experiencing to be the one that was popular and hunted for. It was a lively day compared to the otherwise dull and peaceful life in the park.
A Paras stopped munching on dead leaves between a tree to watch the stranges creature float by as it followed a human, it crawled closer to see what it was as it had never seen a ghost before.

Shade floated toward a pile of dead leaves, and Trixie followed after. It seemed natural for a ghost Pokemon to be drawn to dead things; perhaps it could sense that they had the same sort of energy. They would find themselves not alone, however, as there was a Paras munching on the pile of leaves. It waved its little pincers in greeting as its lidless eyes seemed to widen at the arrival of the strange lavender Pokemon with no arms, legs, or underside for that matter.

Shade, for his part, was not sure what to make of the fungus-infested creature that had appeared before him. He knew he did not want to be grabbed by those claws; they looked sharp! Was it possible for the two of them to peaceably interact. Cautiously, he floated over to the Paras, noting that the mushrooms on its back emitted small bursts of spores as he approached. "Shup, shup?" It sounded to Trixie like a heavily accented attempt at saying "What's up?", even though realistically she knew the Shuppet could not say anything that sounded like human language, aside from his own name.

The Paras stopped eating and scuttled over to Shade, chattering away with its mandibles. Their conversation would inevitably be cut short, however, as a Sport Ball would fly through the air, through the Shuppet, as Trixie lobbed it at the bug Pokemon. Even as the bug was sucked inside, she was readying another throw, just in case the first one failed.
