Ekans narrowed its eyes on the annoying muddy fish that seemed to have the gall to keep battling it in the face of adversity. This little mouse was begging Ekans to take it in. Why would Mudkip or its trainer wanted to insist on helping the little rodent when it was clear where its loyalties were? “You really don’t give up, do you?” Ekans’ forked tongue slipped out of its mouth and wavered in the air as it tasted the two’s scent. It was strange and not exactly the scents that usually lured the egg happy snake out of hiding. It was already bad enough that when Ekans managed to find this rodent’s little egg, the Rattata had begun hatching and ruined its first plans of having a lovely super soft ‘boiled’ egg for dinner. “Trust momma, ok? Momma’s going to protect you and teach you everything you need to know about being a Pokemon. Momma will keep you safe and warm.” Ekans didn’t add the ‘in my belly’ ending it thought, though. Haha. No need for Ekans to let little Rattata know how it planned to keep the rodent warm, right? Rattata snuggled up close to its ‘momma’ and smiled brightly. “I know you will, momma! I believe in you!” Then it turned to Mudkip and fired several small, poisonous needles from the tip of its poisonous fangs, managing to score some deep marks along Mudkip’s sides. “We’re getting tired. And when we get tired, we get hungry. It’s dinner time, so if you’ll just leave us be, we can eat our dinner!” Ekans hissed at Mudkip. “Why would momma use me?” Rattata peaked its head around Ekans’ large body and asked with wide, curious eyes. It didn’t make any sense, though. Weren’t mommas supposed to love their babies? It must have been because it lacked the scales that its momma had. Why was Mudkip so sure that just because it was different, its momma would use it like that? “Momma wants to get me dinner!” Rattata insisted. “Yessss I do. Nicccce fressssh meat.” Ekans laughed with a wide smile and licked its lips. As Mudkip’s water attack slammed into Ekans’ face, it growled angrily and hissed at Mudkip. “I’m guessing your friend doessssn’t want you to eat? Maybe sssshe’ssss trying to sssstarve you?” Ekans whispered to Rattata, causing the baby’s face to drop. "Why would she do that?" Rattata asked worriedly. Wild Encounter

NOTES - mudkip is gonna use hopefully one more water gun This was going on long enough and Raiden though he could not understand the conversation knew that it was really effecting mudkip. There was only so much he could do when he didn't know what was going on. This was a battle and that was how it should be treated but he could only imagine being able to see what was going on. The world was a cruel place and that was something that he knew to be true. Raiden had experienced it himself, but he was not a hero, there was no white cape that could save everything - but in this case, perhaps there was one thing he could do.
Mudkip had tried her best in the situation at hand, trying to tell the little rat what was going to happen without telling them the cruelties of the world. There was only so much she could do when the snake took every word she said and flipped it on it's side. <"The only thing that snake wishes to feed is itself. You are what it's trying to eat."> she finally said. If she did not tell it the truth then who would? Rattata would just be tricked by something else. Perhaps she needed to simply look away and pretend she never saw it, this kind of thing happened all the time so why did she care so much?
"Mudkip, let's try to finish this with one more water gun." Raiden spoke hoping to give the confidence in this weird situation. He wasn't really interested in the rattata, but perhaps, in this case, he should pick it up and give it to someone else as long as it wouldn't become a meal to some snake in these forests. Pokeballs could be replaced after all, and the life of a pokemon could not, though he was sure it was more for mudkips sake than anything else. [googlefont=Karla] |

Sharp eyes stared in annoyance at the blabbering fish out of water and hissed. Tail rattled, like gunshots being fired out of a saw-off barrel in warning, as the venomous serpent spun around and sized up Mudkip with an angry death glare. “You ssshould leave usss alone.” The hiss warned, before it fired off the ground and soared as a bullet through the air, striking its prey instantaneously and coiling around Mudkip only briefly enough to seize her in place and firmly plant its sharp, pointed fangs in her flesh. “Before you become dinner, too.”The baby rat shivered from the sidelines, tears welling in the corners of its eyes. It couldn’t understand why momma was acting like this, as though the veil that disguised the literal snake in the grass dropped to show its true form. “Why would anyone do such a….mean spirited thing?” It tried to understand, from its limited perspective of the world. “Where’s…my momma? I don’t want to be an orphan!” The tears sprang like a broken faucet, spilling hazardously from Rattata’s eyes in every which direction. Mudkip reared back, spitting a mouthful of saliva from her lips. A direct hit! The long purple serpent reeled back, cursing underneath its breath as it spun around and slithered off in an instance. A promise hung in the air. ‘I’ll be back!’ A hint that its work wasn’t finished, just cut short by meddlesome individuals who happened to stumble upon its well-earned meal and set to ruin all its well-deserved work. They’d won for now. But the question remained: what should they do with this mouse? Take the barely hatched youngling with them, help find its parents buried somewhere deep in this forest or…abandon it here, after all they did to save it? Wild Encounter

NOTES - attempt to pick up rattata, gonna search for family / if we can't find he'll capture at later point Raiden was grateful when it seemed all of this seemed to finally come to an end, and he knew that this wouldn't be the end of the snake. There were probably plenty more here that could show back up and could cause more harm than good. It meant that their job here wasn't finished. Though he couldn't understand Pokemon, the shaking and cries of the Rattata were enough to understand. The rather large human moves down to a knee and motions for the baby. "Come here little one, we are going to find your family." he said. Or he would try his best to, if they couldn't then he would take the rat with him and find it a good home. He already had one, so it would be better if he could find someone to take care of the little one. Mudkip seemed happy that it was finally over though she had taken quite a beating to deal with it. Raiden made sure to give her something to help with that poison that she had and make her feel better. The good thing about taking survival classes was that he was prepared for situations like this. If something caused trouble or he had a situation where a Pokemon had a condition he had items to fix that. <"I know you're scared but we'll help you find the others."> She offers moving to the side of her trainer who is trying to offer his support to the small Pokemon. "It's alright, I'll make sure you get where you need to go." So the trainer moves closer and gently tries to pick up the small Pokemon. If it resisted in any way he would back up and try again, but he would continue until he proved he was of no risk to the rattata. He couldn't leave the baby out here like this, it would be against everything he felt about pokemon. Raiden wasn't that kind of person, and a part of him ached, he would make sure he found a home for it, no matter what. [googlefont=Karla] |

Beady red eyes blinked. They stared up towards the tall stranger who knelt down to appear less threatening and stretched his arms out wide in a welcoming embrace. Tentatively, furry paws crawled closer, careful of where they tread. It’s apparently ‘fake’ mother had only wanted to hurt it, yet spoke with such soothing and promising words that now the young hatchling didn’t know who or what to trust. “You’re sure?” Its frail body shivered almost as though it were having convulsions, less from the oncoming cold than from the fear the seized its heart tight and screamed from the inside to just RUN! Raiden would find the trail leading along the hilly wilderness by Mizuma’s estate to be a bit easier than expected. Though large trees were overturned, fallen to the ground as though they were haphazardly discarded without a care, nothing blocked their pathway forward. It was the loud sounds of rattling and squeaking that was sure to catch the young trainer’s attention. Off in the distance, down a small pathway overgrown with wild branches providing only enough room for a small child to comfortably squeeze through, was a large snake coiled staring down two terrified rodents who shivered nearby. They pressed their tiny bodies against the steep ledge behind them, impossible for them to scale and escape. “Your baby was delicious!” The large serpent narrowed its slitted eyes on the two mice and hissed with a laugh. “Went down without a fight. It’s a shame you couldn’t be there to watch.” One mouse shivered, stuttering over her words as she spoke. She tried to lung at the snake, but the other mouse immediately grabbed her with his buckteeth and pulled her back to ‘safety’. “You take that back!” She squeaked at the top of her lungs, tears trailing down her cheeks profusely. “Our baby is still alive! I know it! There’s…there’s just…just no way…NO WAY….our sweet child…” The rest of her speech was choked off as she began weeping in deep sorrow of what might have befallen her only child.
