"Burn that bug!" Silver ordered.

Quilava was faster than the butterfly. He engulfed himself in flames in an instant before charging fast at Callisk. Silver was so certain that one good hit would render that butterfly toast. But to his abject shock, that stupid, useless butterfly...? It withstood that attack. Quilava slammed into him and knocked the annoying bug to the ground, but instead of staying down, he flapped his wings and sprayed a bunch of golden powder in Quilava's face. His pokemon began to cough and shake his head, but was ultimate unable to clear the paralytic powder from his system. Silver watched as his pokemon sluggishly staggered back, the flames on his back dimming as he struggled against the effects of the bug's specialized poison.

His hands balled into fists, "Useless...Why are all of you so useless." His voice was a whisper, rough with fury. He trembled a bit. Like he wanted to punch one of these pillars. "You should have been able to knock out a BUG you stupid..." Silver kept muttering to himself.

Alex was glad the Stun Spore worked! Even though fire type moves were expected to hit a bug type hard, this wasn't always the case, as some bug types had adapted a strong defense against it. Now, his Beautifly got hit by the super effective fire type attack, and he knew immediately what he was going to have his Pokemon do. "And the bug will thrive! Casilk, use Morning Sun!" His Pokemon flew up toward the air again and prepared for a shimmering bright experience.

"You don't have to be so rude to your own Pokemon, geez. I'm sure the Quilava was trying its best." The trainer added, trying to comfort his opponent's Pokemon, which was an uncommon practice amongst trainers. He watched to see how would Silver and the Quilava react.

"Use flame wheel and get rid of that pest before it heals!" Silver demanded, hands balled into fists as he glared at Quilava. The fire-type made a weak sound as its muscles twitched and spasmed before locking up entirely. It collapsed, temporarily too stunned to move, much less attack. As it tried to recover control over its limbs, every inch of its body leaden and sluggish to respond, Callisk shimmered in the faint beams of light that filtered through into the tower. It recovered health AGAIN. Drawing things out. AGAIN. 

"It's your fault this is happening," Red spat. "If you'd knocked it out in the first place, you wouldn't be paralyzed and it wouldn't be healing. Now get up! You're supposed to be better than this. I won't have you knocked around by a FIRST ROUTE BUTTERFLY! Now get UP!"

The quilava slowly tried to right itself, fighting for the approval of its trainer as much as against Callisk. It had determination glinting in its eyes.

"Qui-la-va..." it peered up at the trainer who commanded its foe. Not quite understanding why he was trying to tell its trainer to do anything. 

"Oh you shove off. Like I'm going to listen to you about how to train pokemon!"

"Since when are Beautifly is a pest? Wouldn't a Beedrill be more of a pest? Casilk is quite sparkly and pretty; I wouldn't call it a pest," Alex replied, shrugging at the opponent's insulting words.

Watching how Silver was being angry at his Pokemon, Alex was still uneasy about this. "Wow... you haven't changed! Have you ever tried not yelling at your Pokemon? How does your voice not get coarse from yelling? Do you have a special herbal tea for throat?" He voiced his opinion, getting a little sarcastic at the end.

"Casilk, you're doing great! Now use Air Cutter!" The calm Alex ordered his Pokemon for the next move, unlike somebody yelling. The not-a-pest buzzed and flapped his wings quickly, readying to whip up a storm.

"I told you to shove off! Shut up and don't tell me how to train my pokemon!" Silver snapped. It was clear he'd lost his cool at the absolute indignity of his starter possibly losing to a beautifly—a pokemon that was notoriously weak and frail. "Quilava, get up and use flame wheel like I told you!"

As Quilava struggled to his feet, Callisk flapped his wings hard and slicing bands of air cut across the battlefield and slammed into Quilava, sharp and unrelenting. He grit his teeth at the sight. Pathetic. Just...pathetic. Tch. But the quilava stood firm and caught his breath. His sluggish movements steadily sped up as he began to charge at the beautifly, flames bursting around him as he hurtled towards the beautifly with all his might. It was a devastatingly hard blow, but still not enough to knock out Callisk. 

He'd land on the ground and stumble, still shivering against the effects of the stun spore.

His head bowed. He was trying. Please, Silver, see that he was trying. He was worthy. Please...please don't believe him a failure.

Alex didn't say a word farther after that, but he was really concerned about how Silver talked to his own Pokemon. He stared at the other side briefly as he wandered what else he could say, but he found nothing. He swallowed to clear his mouth before going straight into order his Pokemon's next move. "Use Air Cutter, Casilk!"

The sparkling Beautifly buzzed, and whipped his wings rapidly again until the wind became sharp and powerful enough to slice through thing. Alex wondered if he should say anything to Silver again, if he was being rude and condescending to his own Pokemon again. They're both trainers who had made it these far, but Alex couldn't believe Silver's attitude toward his Pokemon hadn't changed! Somebody should stand up for them, right?

Silver smirked at Alex’s silence. The disheveled tower was really a drain on his time, and he wanted to shove off as fast as he could. He needed to beat this pathetic trainer into the ground quickly so that he could hurry through to those legendary beasts he wanted to catch. “I see you’ve figured out to keep your mouth closed.” Silver huffed, shoving his hands into the pockets of his pants with a smirk. “Good. I don’t need to learn anything from a weakling with bugs.” He growled low underneath his tongue.

Quilava groaned as he stood on all fours and glared at his opponent. He just needed to prove himself. Somehow… Pain surged through every fiber of his body, coupled with the paralysis that locked up his joints. It was difficult to move, and even more difficult to try and keep up with this flittering bug before him. But he had to show Silver that he was worthwhile and that he could do whatever his trainer needed. “Hurry up and burn the bug, Quilava. What are you waiting for, an open invitation?! Sheesh!”] Before Quilava could cloak himself in flames, though, Casilk immediately slammed the Pokemon with powerful blasts of air that cut deeply into his flesh.

“What?! Ugh! Pathetic!” Silver snapped angrily, recalling his fainted heap of a Pokemon. He searched around in his pockets until he pulled out another Poke Ball and called out a floating magnet. “Magnemite, you’re up next! You better show Quilava up, too! This isn’t a team of losers, after all!” The magnet growled softly and floated up high into the air as sparks floated around above its head. Now it was its turn to show them what it could do? Fun! It loved frying things with its electrical pulses! Silver smiled seeing how excited the battle apparently made his little magnet, as though it was born to fight.

"Well, I've stated what I thought about how you train your Pokemon, so I don't need to add more." Alex replied briefly, not adding more to his opinion about how Silver talked to his own Pokemon. He watched patiently as the Quilava struggled to move, and then painfully listened to the trainer's rude command. However, before it could do anything, the Beautifly once again defeated the Quilava in a windy way. Silver continued his insult of his own Pokemon, and then swapped out with an floating magnet.

Alex held his breath as he thought about how the electric type could be an enemy to his flying type bug Pokemon. He could easily switch out now or take his risk. He decided to take a little risk for training his Pokemon. Though first, Casilk would need some recovery again. "You're doing great, Casilk! Go for another Morning Sun!" He called his Pokemon, and the bug type eagerly flew up toward the sky for yet another shimmering sun bathing recovery method.

"Thunder shock! Knock it from the sky. Don't let yourself lose to that butterfly like quilava. You're not an absolute loser like the other two, are you?" Silver sneered, though his pokemon didn't show any reaction. Not that magnemites were especially expressive creatures given they didn't have a face. Just a round body with a single eye on the front. "Knock that smug look off that jerk's face by frying his previous weakling! NOW!" Someone was losing their cool, upset that their starter was knocked out by a beautifly. AGAIN. URG.

Why did he steal that useless...

He watched as his pokemon drifted over to the sunbathing beautifly and sparked up. ZzzzzzAP! A sharp jolt of electricity arced to Callisk and made the butterfly's wings seize up for a moment. Though a few flaps got him back up to where he was before, fortunately not stunned by that little show of force.

Silver seemed to lose his cool as his starter Pokemon was knocked out by his "first route" bug. The opponent continued to be aggressive in his voice. He watched as his opponent's Magnemite countered his Morning Sun with a good ole' electric attack. His mind went into calculating mode again as he was pretty sure wasting time using Morning Sun would take forever, and he wouldn't want that.

"I will save both of us some time instead of dragging this out. Return, Casilk!" Alex returned his Pokemon, and the floating bug disappeared through a bean of red light. He didn't care for whatever Silver would say, and tossed out his next Pokemon switching in. "Come out, Lodd, use Giga Drain then Bubble Beam!"

A definitely not final form of a first route Pokemon appeared, and the nonchalant carefree duo type began dancing on the wooden floor, making it creaked as she went about. When she was ready, she'll prepare to attack the tiny Magnemite.

"Thunder wave! Slow it down," Silver called out. He didn't need that fully-evolved freak show moving faster than his whole team. As soon as that ludicolo emerged onto the field, he was hit by a jolt of electricity that made every one of the jolly, dancing pokemon's limbs seize up. She would instantly feel sluggish and sore, every muscle aching to move. Ha. Take that as revenge for paralyzing his quilava and making it useless. Now you could deal with a uselessly paralyzed pokemon.

"Is that seriously all you've got?" Silver complained.

Then, finding the strength to overcome twitching muscles, Lodd gulped down the lum berry in her possession and drained the magnemite of energy with that bright, eerie green glow that many grass types sported when using a move that absorbed life force. It was honestly creepy. However, it became very obvious afterwards that the Ludicolo was no longer paralyzed.

"Worthless," he muttered. "Paralyze it AGAIN."

The weakened magnemit did just that with another weak jolt of electricity.

Alex watched the battle for a bit before replying Silver. It was a great idea for him to equip his Ludicolo with a Lum Berry, even if it meant stopping just the first thunder wave. Well, it was better than nothing! "I've switched out the so-called first route Beautifly and now you're still complaining? Can't you be satisfied? Why are you so negative? You're complaining more than a disgruntled married couple!" He hissed back at Silver's relentless trash talking.

"How is able to paralyze my Pokemon worthless? Gee, tell them a good job or something." Alex mumbled again, telling Silver how to treat his Pokemon with care. "Lodd, hang in there! Fight through the paralysis and use Bubble Beam!" Alex turned to cheer his Pokemon. Although the duo type was a little sluggish, she was fighting through internall, and tried to muster up a popping Bubble Beam.

"Before it can move, hit it again," Silver demanded. "Thunder shock!"

The magnemite sparked and zapped the ludicolo on demand. Though it honestly didn't look like it did much. They both knew that the little electric type only had a passable matchup against Alex's mix of bugs and grass. Those mixed with flying, sure, he could zap, but that grass typing made that water typing neutral to electricity. It just wasn't strong enough to overcome a final evolution's much higher stats. No matter how much it tried to please its trainer.

Silver was hoping the stupid ludicolo couldn't move. That's why he paralyzed it after all.

But he couldn't catch a break.

That stupid, dancing THING blasted his pokemon with a bubblebeam and his polemon dropped with a clunk. Silver stomped a foot childishly.

"Whatever! I have a solution to this," he muttered, sending out his haunter again.

The seemingly frustrated Silver tried and attempted to take him down, but Alex's own grass and bug type Pokemon can hold some water on their own. Well, his Ludicolo didn't have Rain Dish ability, but it could hold water metaphorically. That Magnemite tried to send a little zap to buzz the light off from Lodd, but she's light years ahead of it.

Even though his energetic fidgety wobbling duo type Pokemon was paralyzed, Alex was certain that he didn't need to heal this one yet. This Pokemon just got the vigor to keep the rhythm going. "You're doing great, Lodd. Keep it up! Don't let that little paralysis stop you! We'll give the Haunter a little Bubble Beam, a little shower song!" Alex lightheartedly joked, as he was getting tired of Silver's dour words and mud-dragging words. He would have to bring themselves back up. The Ludicolo hummed, trying to fight through the paralysis to give the Haunter a ghost-busting extinguishing experience.

It honestly didn't matter what Alex planned to do with Lodd. All Silver wanted to do was to get that ugly thing out of the way and out of his face so he didn't have to keep looking at it. Even if it meant sacrificing his apparently worthless haunter for the momentary advantage.

"Use curse," he said, well aware that he was basically sacrificing haunter to set up. But that stupid, dancing pokemon couldn't stay in or it would faint. Which meant he would probably have an easier time ripping the rest of his team apart with his golbat. He wasn't even feeling chatty anymore, even to deride his foe. Silver apathetically watched as his haunter's form glimmered and then a nail looked as if it was piercing its ghostly form. The last of the haunter's energy was drain and the ghost fainted, but Lodd would feel a dark, painful force shivering through her whole body. One that made her feel sick on top of the paralysis. "Now, your turn Golbat. Don't disappoint me." Then out was sent his final pokemon to face his foe.
