The hoppip had no idea what was happening if it was sincere. It had been trying to nap through the storm and the sand that had kicked up threatening to blow it away. It had always been taught that if the currents were too strong the best way to survive was to hunker down and wait it out. It had always followed the advice of its parents because parents knew best right? Though the storm had pulled it away from the rest of its friends and family. Being woken up by a strong attack was the last thing that it had expected after the storm had passed. What was even more concerning was the pokemon that had woken it, the rattata, it now identified didn't even seem like it wanted to fight. A noise came from the floating pokemon, as it watched the pokemon once more return back to the side of the human that had called it. Did that mean it could go back to its nap? Maybe it hadn't meant to bump into the pink floating pokemon, that would make the most sense. So the pokemon was not even paying attention as it started to ease back towards the ground, back to safety to continue it's nap until it was feeling better to find where everyone had gone. Well that had been the plan, at least until it felt something hit the back of its head. What was that? The red absorbed the pokemon and the ball rocked for one, two... before it stopped with a satisfying click that he had captured the pokemon on the first try. Hmph.
"Some child will want that thing," he mused, returning King to his ball. Now, did he linger here or push ahead to Violet? He still didn't have a sound solution to Falkner besides brute force, so he resigned himself to...lingering at the outskirts of Cherrygrove for a while as he contemplated his next course of action. His team was getting to be a decent level, just Aqua and King needed to catch up. And he could likely obtain the relatively weak pokemon here in the future...
But a little more battling to clear his head might be due. Getting everyone to more similar levels would ease his frustration.
"Aqua, prove yourself, flush out another pokemon," he commanded. There was a flash and the little turtle emerged. There was nothing in sight to battle. But, uh, he would do his best! With puffed cheeks, Squirtle began to spray the tall grass with water, hoping to provoke something into jumping out.
(Unlike King, he wasn't really checking what he was spraying, as far as he knew it could be a person rather than a pokemon hiding in that tall grass getting wet.)
Silas didn't care as long as it got results.
As Aqua worked, Silas checked his 'gear. Hm. Apparently there were reports of pokemon abuse in the area that the police were investigating. That explained the seemingly heightened police presence in sleepy little Cherrygrove. While he'd yet to be approached by anyone, he'd noticed a rather large number of Jenny's around compared to what he expected in such a small town.
He breathed through any nervousness.
He was in Johto now. He looked completely different and had assumed a fresh identity. Nobody knew who he was nor were they looking for him here. He didn't need to worry about the law...currently. After all, they couldn't connect him to the theft of his current pokemon. He was smart enough not to leave a trace of that behind. But the prospect of his past catching up before he could carve a new path made his skin prickle.
Breathe through those pointless nerves.
"Find anything Aqua? Something useful preferably?" he called out to his squirtle. The little turtle sprayed his shoes in retaliation and Silas rolled his eyes. "Come now, King found something faster than this. Chop chop. There are only so many hours in the day."
Aqua returned to spraying water at the grass.

The pokemon of the area definitely seemed to have taken notice of what had happened before. Though the hoppip had been captured with no problem the other pokemon had definitely seen the pokemon running about. This man was definitely trying to train and had little care for anything else around other than a punching bag. Though most pokemon had cleared out of the area or at least the grass it seemed rather quiet even as the turtle was released and water started to be sprayed in the area. It was definitely taking a bit longer since the Rattata had cleared it out the first time. What the turtle did manage to miss was another young girl who had been completely hidden in the tall grass. A shrill cry came from her as she was soaked from head to toe. "Hey!" she cried as she managed to get out of the grass dripping with water. Tears immediately sprang from her eyes. "This dress is new!" though it seemed like she was about to complain instead she turned on her tail and ran back into Cherrygrove, it seemed no battle would come from her and he probably didn't want to fight a child anyway. What did happen however was a Pokemon had been interested in what was going on. The least on Silas' list of interesting pokemon. A caterpie seemed to inch out of the grass nearby where the girl had been crying. Just in time for it to be hit with the renewed water gun that had been aimed at the grass. A sound of utter confusion came from the bug as it was hit by the blast of water. In fear and probably surprise a spew of white string was shot at the turtle pokemon to maybe confuse it enough and slow it down so Caterpie could once more hide back in the grass. Though it was definitely moving slow itself, that attack had done a lot of damage to the little pokemon. "Many pardons, young miss," Silas called out. "I didn't see you there." No he didn't want to fight a child and he did his best to seem apologetic and sincere about it. Confused and wet and soon to be a bundle of confused worm was the pokemon that inched out of the damp grass. A caterpie. A pitifully weak one too by the look of it. Nothing but fodder. Honestly, there were far more interesting things supposedly in this grass and he found these weaklings. A hoppip and now a caterpie? Hmph.
"Aqua, stand down. I think if you breathe too hard on this one it will faint." He threw a ball, and looking around, pretty confident that pitiful little bug wasn't going to break out of that ball. "Try to find something more useful next time. At least that hoppip King drove out of the grass looked like it could take more than one hit before it keeled over."
The squirtle puffed his cheek and tried to spit water at Silas, who was now aware of his antics, and side-stepped the blast. "Tsk, tsk. You know you are a very willful little pokemon. That's what I liked about you. You had spirit." Silas grinned. The squirtle narrowed his eyes and crossed his arms. "And now you're mad at me? That's fair. I understand the frustration. No proper opportunities to prove yourself. Getting looked down on because the challenges were ill suited. You want to be better than Mercenary, yes~ You want to show me that you're more useful. Stronger. More worth everyone's time and admiration."
The squirtle shifted, uncomfortable. He gave a little nod.
"I saw it in you when we met. Saw that ambition. That spiritedness. So don't go breaking on me, Aqua. Not when we have so much further to go. If we're going to make it to the top. If we're going to have our every dream at our fingertips, we cannot falter. We cannot become meek little creatures that shy or snap when things don't go our way. I will push you, Aqua. You just have to trust that I will push you to new heights of greatness some day if you let me."
Violet eyes gleamed as the squirtle nodded again, arms uncrossing. His trainer was a cold, strange man. But Aqua supposed...a truce could be found. At least until Aqua was suitably stronger.

The caterpie wasn't quite sure what had happened. One minute it had been chewing on some grass trying to find the really good stuff that was just touched by dew and suddenly it had all but been sprayed a few feet by water from nowhere. It hadn't been raining, or at least the little creature didn't know that rain could hit that hard. It was only after inching out of the grass to find what it was that the pokemon had found a turtle and the trainer that had issued the command. The string shot had done its job at least and would slow the pokemon, at least that had been the hope so that the little bug could find a place to hide and maybe dry off. Yes, just stick to the plan and then everything would be fine. Everything would most definitely be fine. Ow! Something had hit the back of its head while it was trying to get away. That being a Pokeball that quickly absorbed the pokemon inside. It didn't even struggle. The minute the ball hit the ground there was the satisfying sound of a capture. It had definitely been a rather easy capture. Caterpie has been captured! -1 Pokeball Please fill out the information so we can update it in your PC! "Now, to find something more worth our while. Come now Aqua. Flush out something else." Silas said, and the squirtle nodded to his trainer. They'd come to a certain understanding now... So he once more started to spray water over the grasses and at the branches of nearby trees.
The electric sheep and ralts his trainer seemed to want probably wouldn't be up a tree, but Aqua had never seen one before. Maybe it would be a very ambitious tree climbing mareep who was dreaming of becoming a spearow one day and desired to one day take flight.
Silas kept his own watch around the grasses and street,
As long as the weather stayed clear, it wouldn't be too bad to just linger a while and flush out pokemon to battle. Though he was growing a little bored...none of these little weaklings were a challenge. He could continue up to Violet where pokemon were stronger, but then he'd be missing out on a chance to find some of the unusual pokemon in this grass specifically. Choices choices.
Silas dabbed a little errant spray off his brow with a hankerchief as Aqua worked hard to spook a wild pokemon into scampering into view.

Truly for everything that the man was trying to do, using moves to flush pokemon out was a pretty smart idea. It also however caused Pokemon that were seeing what was happening to shy away from the idea of being splashed with water. When water was splashed on trees it mostly bumped bugs that might have been crawling and in the distance sounds of wings of a pokemon that might have been ruffled from the branches. A flash of red and white, but not clear enough to actually see. It almost looked like everything might have been trying to avoid the water that was giving the grass nice fresh watering. That is until a sound comes from just at the edge of the grass. Something that might have recently come from the tree line or had been sleeping somewhere and hadn't been roused previously. A stretch of legs and a small yawn as one of the pokemon that the man had specifically been looking for seemed to show up on the scene. Thankfully not tired enough to not see the water that was being sprinkled it carefully sidestepped without getting any of its wool wet. <"Can you be careful? Some of us take a long time to look this good."> perhaps a little too concerned about its appearance the Mareep looks around to see what the fuss is all about. A Wild Mareep [LV. 7] is frustrated with almost getting wet! What will Silas do? Dmo2v8vZ1-42 does it sparkle? 1-42

Silas was about ready to give up and move on when finally, at last, something INTERESTING wandered out of the grass. A mareep. Not a rare and valuable ralts, but acceptable given his goals. Aqua glanced back at his trainer. So. What do you wanna do now boss man?
"Use bite and weaken it. Try not to knock it out, hm~? I actually want to catch that piece of fluff." Haughty though it may be, an electric type against the first gym of the region was shaping up to be just what he needed. He'll likely discard it later, but for now, it slotted firmly in the 'useful' camp.
As he enlarged a ball, Aqua hurried forward and tried to take a biiiig bite into the sheep's side. "Sorry about this, mareep, but orders are orders. The bossman aint so bad once you get used to him." Once Aqua looked like he'd closed the gap between himself and the electric sheep, Silas would throw the ball in his hand. Hopefully the little wooly creature would have the grace and common sense to stay in the ball. He didn't have the patience to deal with pokemon that incessantly broke out of their balls and put up meaningless fights.
These were valuable pokemon.
They weren't creatures that inspired awe or power.
They were stepping stones for novice trainers to hone their skills. But soon...soon he would have what he deserved. Power. Prestige. He's sit atop the world in an office like before.
Nobody would stop him.
Nobody.
He refused to be brought low.
He'd climb his way back to the top one way or another, even if that meant catching dozens of helpless worms and sheep.

Did anyone have any class anymore? Truly the mareep would have loved to teach all of these rejects just what it was like to be beautiful. Not just any mareep had a coat as wonderfully taken care of as theirs. Mareep knew they were the best even if no one else thought that way. So when the turtle had tried to squirt them with water they had avoided it. They did not want to be stuck drying out this thick wool for Arceus knew how long. <"I really don't care what your boss says."> they sneered at the turtle before it seemed to be going into its personal space. Mareep was appalled! No one could just get in their personal space let alone when teeth clapped around part of its body as sparks started to move and attach to the small turtle. <"How dare you! I hope you got a good shock for that!"> it was upset now, it would show this turtle what it was made of as it rushed forward slamming its body into the turtle. Though as soon as it had it didn't notice the ball being thrown. Not quite as easy as the others as the ball dropped it rocked and rocked and rocked until finally, it seemed to settle and signal that the pokemon had been captured but it definitely had not gone down without a fight. The grassy area that Silas was currently utilizing for his training efforts was slowly getting more and more plastered to the ground due to all of the water that Aqua was pumping into the area. It was slowly getting harder for wild Pokemon to hide, and so the good Pokemon maybe were just fleeing to other sections of the route in order to escape the angry man and his nasty turtle. However, some wild Pokemon were more willing to step and fight and not be cowed by a trainer and their Pokemon. Some were just sick of it, considering this was one of the first routes that trainers walked down and a lot of the Pokemon that lived around here were slowly turned into punching bags, so trainers could get ready for Faulker. Well, this sheep had enough of that nonsense. It was bad enough it just watched it's friend get captured, and now the turtle was still disturbing the peace? No. The Mareep jumped out of the grass to confront the Squirtle, only to be met with a tackle for it's attempt. That tackle hurt, especially with the hard shell and developing muscles of the water type. In response, the wooly coat of the Mareep started to spark up with blue electricity before it released a thunder wave, looking to paralyze and slow down the more experience Pokemon. Given that mareep were relatively useful pokemon given its proximity to Violet, a second one to sell seemed like the perfect plan. So when one jumped out and went after Aqua, he decided that he would do just that. "Return, Aqua." Of course, the water turtle was moving sluggishly. Apparently paralyzed by the electric sheep. He sighed. Then returned the squirtle into his ball. "You, little sheep, will be joining your friend~" And he threw out said friend between them. The little sheep looked around, confused.
Wait. She knew that mareep!
Had this human caught her?! How dare! She puffed her cheeks and stuck up her nose. Nope. She didn't want to battle and muss up her wool or betray her friend.
Silas snorted, "Ah, yes, you are most certainly a Jessica." The name made him think of an exceptionally feminine woman, more fashion and fancy than function. "I can respect that pride, little mareep. And I will help groom you into something stronger than you are now. Just. You. Wait~"
And without even calling out a command, he threw a pokeball at the new mareep.

Mareep was upset, and rightfully so! These people, these humans, kept coming to their homes, and with each one, the livelihood of the Pokemon that lived there became worse. Trainers who ruined the grass, the trainers that came and fainted Pokemon after Pokemon in their wake. Enough was enough, no one would be able to stop them if they didn't do something about it. So mareep would stand up and it would fight against this trainer who was soaking everything from head to toe. Even after it paralyzed the turtle it felt quite proud of itself. It was going to show this pokemon and its trainer what it was made of. At least that was until the turtle was recalled, had it already scared this trainer off? Victory! Such a celebration was short-lived however when it seemed it was simply a switch to a new pokemon. It didn't matter what pokemon was sent, this mareep would fight them all to protect their home. Well - all but the friend that had been sent against them. Mareep was stunned, unable to move, unable to attack the pokemon in front of it. Not their friend. It was grateful that its friend felt the same way, at least until the ball came flying and hit the mareep absorbing it inside. Even though it had only taken a little damage from the turtle it couldn't break out. After a rock or two the pokeball stopped moving signaling a successful capture.
