As soon as morning returned to the Johto region, Shinya decided to sleep in for a few hours after the sun came up. But after the kind of night he had, who could blame him? He spent a good amount of time training up his new Sizzlipede, the two of them almost started a massive forest fire, and they captured a wild Hoothoot, which Shinya sent to the trainer that gave him his Sizzlipede in the first place. In any event, it was a brand-new day. And after enjoying his extended rest time, the Alolan trainer woke up, shared a meal with his Pokemon, then continued to travel through the fog that currently surrounded Violet City, wanting to return to the vicinity of Azalea Town before continuing Sizzlipede's training. Fortunately, the bright sunlight overhead provided all the light that Shinya needed to find his way through said fog.
Thankfully, once he re-entered the Union Cave, the fog was gone, and it was nothing but smooth sailing to Azalea Town from there. However, once he finally exited the cave, the Bug type trainer was met with an all too familiar, and very unpleasant surprise. Although there wasn't any thunder or lightning, it seemed the weather hadn't changed much since the last time Shinya set foot on route 33. "Urgh...Ya gotta me kiddin' me." Shinya said to himself after breathing out a sigh of exasperation, knowing that this rain was bad news for a Fire type like Sizzlipede. Even so, the Team Skull grunt had never been one to give up easily, gritting his teeth and narrowing his eyes as he set out onto the route. If anything, this would only prove to be even better training for Sizzlipede. If he could overcome his foes while battling in the rain, then he could surely overcome just about anything that Team Skull would end up facing in the future.

Terrible weather for training a fire type. Utterly terrible. It was wet and cold. Sometimes, that bone chilling rain was accompanied by actual flecks of ice. It left the grass soggy and gave the air a distinct chilliness that sank bone deep. Dreadful unless you liked your fingers growing numb with every heartbeat and gust of wind. However, if you were a meditite who was working on its self-control and focus, then perhaps it wasn't so bad. Sitting there in the rain, was one such pokemon, eyes closed as it worked its mind and muscles, trying to breathe through the uncomfortable cold. In and out. Mind over matter. If it practiced hard enough, it wouldn't even feel the cold! At least, that's what the other meditite told it. It just had to sit here and concentrate until it was in such a state of deep meditation that it felt no discomfort. No pain. No cold. Nothing but calm and internal bliss. This training would help it become stronger both mentally and physically. (However, like the trainers on this route, it didn't exactly find this whole getting soaked and cold all that fun...)

Even as the freezing rain and ice continued to fall down on him with seemingly no end in sight, Shinya was determined to see his task through to the end. Train up Sizzlipede, then destroy the Azalea Town gym leader, Bugsy, and show him what a real Bug type trainer looked like. That desire burning inside him was all Shinya needed to keep warm, as he strode confidently out onto route 33, searching for his and Sizzlipede's first victim of the day. Fortunately for the Bug type duo, and unfortunately for the Meditation Pokemon, Shinya wasn't the only one with the level of fortitude needed to brave this harsh weather. As soon as he stumbled upon the wild Meditite, doing its best to achieve a new level of enlightenment, the Team Skull grunt grinned, grabbing Sizzlipede's Pokeball from his pocket without missing a beat. "Ya know, I'm startin' to think you Meditites really aren't all that you're cracked up to be. I heard you guys were supposed to be rare, but you'll be the third one we've thrashed since we reached this backwater town. And that wasn't all that long ago."
Getting the wild Meditite's attention before sending Sizzlipede out onto the battlefield, Shinya spoke in a rather cocky and condescending tone of voice. Additionally, in the back of his mind, he thought to himself "Of course, if these runts really are that rare, and I'm just gettin' lucky, why can't I get this lucky when I actually need to?" Regardless, the green-haired young man didn't ponder that for very long, tossing Sizzlipede's Pokeball into the air and sending him into his next bout. "Oh, whatever! Sizzlipede, let's go!" As expected, the Radiator Pokemon wasn't the least bit thrilled by the conditions of his new makeshift battlefield, flinching a bit when the ice-cold rain hit his sizzling body, then glared up at the sky itself with great fury in his eyes. "Agh! Rgh! What is this cold and soggy place?! I hate it! I hate it so much! I'll burn it all down! Burn it all to ash! You'll see! You'll all see!"
Staying true to his nature, Sizzlipede fired off several rounds of Ember attacks in all directions, attempting to set fire to this route just like the last one he was on yesterday. However, given how wet and cold route 33 was due to all the icy rain, those embers didn't last long at all, fizzling out mere seconds after they were fired, causing Sizzlipede's anger and body temperature to rise. On the other hand, Shinya was still grinning, finding it best to make use of all that extra fury. "That's right, Sizzlipede! Get angry! Then go take it out on that little runt over there! If your flames won't work, then use your Bite attack! And don't stop until it falls!" Shinya pointed out the wild Meditite for Sizzlipede, and the Bug/Fire type turned to face the Fighting/Psychic type, heading straight for it after that. "I'll bite your head off!" Sizzlipede yelled with plenty of anger in his voice, planning to unleash all that anger on Meditite through his red hot and very sharp fangs.

The meditite was so deep in its meditation that it didn't notice the attempt at arson. Why would it? It knew inner peace. The meditite continued to breath as the bug had its tantrum and cursed the sky and the weather and the wet, cold awfulness that this pokemon was using to find its center. It breathed in. And out. The only thing that drew it out from this peace was being bitten. HARD. It leapt up from its sitting position and retaliated swiftly to attack with its own mental capabilities. The fire bug was thrown away from it and allowed the meditite a moment to take in this startling situation. Oh. A battle. Well. It would find inner peace after this then. It widened its stance. "You should relax. Anger will eat you alive from the inside and leave you hollow. Nothing but smoke where fire once burned," the meditite offered sagely. Of course, that didn't really deter the angry pokemon from biting it. AGAIN. Before getting thrown into the bushes...AGAIN. However, both those bites left the psychic type wincing and doubled over. It couldn't really keep this up much longer, no matter how much it wished it could give that pest a thrashing. Wild Encounter

Contrary to its intensions, all of Meditite's attacks and attempts at a peaceful resolution only made Sizzlipede's fury and body temperature rise even higher. So much so that the icy rain turned into steam as soon as it made contact with the Radiator Pokemon's body. "Don't tell me what to do! You're not the boss of me! The boss is the boss of me! He tells me who to burn and how long to cook 'em!" Glaring straight at the Meditation Pokemon with his burning red eyes, Sizzlipede shouted at the wild Pokemon yet again, demonstrating both his level of fury and his level of loyalty towards Shinya. Which Shinya appreciated very much, continuing to grin his usual grin and condone his Pokemon's violent and aggressive behavior, no matter how wrong that may have been to others.
"Heck yeah! That's my boy! You tell 'em, Sizzlipede! Now, let's finish this runt off and make ya even stronger! Make a meal out of 'em and use Bite once more!" The Team Skull grunt encouraged his Pokemon's bad behavior, giving him his final order for this battle and waiting to witness the painful final blow that would follow. Naturally, this was one of the few things that actually made the Bug/Fire type happy. Apart from setting things on fire, of course. "Bite! Bite! Bite! Gonna turn you into power! Then use that power to burn and bite other Pokemon and turn them into power too! It never ends! Never!" Once again, Sizzlipede moved every single one of his numerous legs towards the wild Meditite, his jaws wide open and ready to sink in deep. It was almost as if he had completely forgotten about the freezing rain. Almost.

A few more bites on a raging rampage and the fire bug had the meditite's concentration and calm demeanor completely shattered. It pushed it away weakly before stumbling away into the forest, retreating in its absolute defeat. Rain continued to pour all around it as it limped away. Bush branches scraped against its sides and arms and hands. It stared bleakly up at that rainy sky and panted, its whole body trembling with fatigue. It stumbled a few more steps then dropped to its knees in a puddle, the cold seeping in and sinking into its core. It's head bowed as it tried to ignore the aching, stinging bites. Inner peace would have to wait until these wounds healed. Until then, it wanted to be nowhere near here and that angry bug.

As they watched their prey attempt to flee, Shinya continued to grin, while Sizzlipede continued to glare. And as soon as Meditite fell to the ground, Sizzlipede let out a loud battle cry, filled with a strange mixture of fury and satisfaction. "RRRRAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH! Even in the freezing cold, my fire burns hotter than the sun! No one can put out my flames! No one! Not even nature itself!" Even with his level still a bit on the low side, the Bug/Fire type felt like he was on top of the world. Or at least the top of the food chain, even though centipedes were technically vegetarians. Still, herbivore or otherwise, all centipedes had a wicked and powerful bite. A fact that the unconscious Fighting/Psychic type now knew all too well.
However, like all species on this or any other planet, Sizzlipede still had plenty of room to improve. And Shinya would make absolutely sure that this violent little Bug type reached his full potential. No matter how many Pokemon or humans they had to step on or bite along the way. "I like the attitude, Sizzlipede, but don't go gettin' ahead of yourself on me. You'll definitely get there someday, but we still got plenty of work to do before then. Now, how 'bout we go find ya some more fodder to snack on?" Very proud of his newest Pokemon and very excited to see his next rampage, the Team Skull grunt questioned him, then immediately started walking towards another part of the route they were on, already knowing what his answer would be.
No matter how hot or angry he became, the Radiator Pokemon always listened to his trainer's every word, turning to face him as soon as he heard his voice. "Yeah! Yeah! Want more power! More fodder! More flames! More heat! More destruction!" Sharing his trainer's desire for more, Sizzlipede followed his lead, his entire body still broiling hot, even in the seemingly unending icy rain. Said rain continued to turn into steam the second it made contact with Sizzlipede's body, as he did his best to ignore it. Still, he did enjoy the sizziling sounds it made, smiling a little as a result. Neither Shinya nor Sizzlipede really cared who or what their next foe would be, confident that that battle would end the exact same way this one did regardless of such details.

Looking for the next foe to train his new friend, Shinya continued down the road looking for their next target. Thankfully, the bug type trainer didn't take long though to find their next target, as the sound of rain hitting on the fire type and creating steam had caught the attention of another bug type Pokemon, who was able to see it from its height. "What is going on here? What's happening to you?" The Surskit prodded curiously, pointing one leg at the Sizzlipede. It watched mesmerized as each rain drop slapping onto the red bug's skin became momentary steam. The air around the fire type was nothing but hazy steam. "I'm sorry, I am just curious! I have never seen this before!" The Surskit sheepishly apologized. "Actually, I've never seen any one like you before!"

If Shinya was being honest, he rather enjoyed the appearance all the steam had given his new Pokemon, even if the rain did put him at a disadvantage. It was almost as if his White Smoke ability had physically manifested itself all around him. Still, even though Sizzlipede's Ember attack was pretty much worthless at this point, he still had Bite to rely on. The Alolan trainer just hoped that no Water type Pokemon or trainers with Water type Pokemon crossed their paths. At least not until the rain let up. Unfortunately, it seemed luck wasn't on Team Skull's side this time, as both Shinya and Sizzlipede turned to face their intrigued onlooker as soon as they heard the sound of its voice. And as one who knew them might expect, neither of them looked all that amused by the presence of the Pond Skater Pokemon.
"Ya got a problem, blue boy?! I'll bite all your legs right off your stubby little body! Then we'll see if you're still so curious!" Still angry and hot enough to turn raindrops to steam, Sizzlipede glared and yelled at the other Bug type Pokemon, already ready for another heated battle. Of course, still very young and inexperienced, the Radiator Pokemon didn't realize just how big of a disadvantage he was at this time. Fortunately for him, his trainer was very aware of that fact. Between the freezing rain and Surskit's Water typing, as well as the fact that this one likely had Water Gun in its arsenal, Shinya knew that Sizzlipede would have a very tough time with this one. That is, if he didn't have a little something extra, which the Team Skull grunt was quick to grab from his bag.
"Heads up, Sizzlipede! Power up comin' at ya!" Shinya called out to his Pokemon, then tossed the item he retrieved from his bag at said Pokemon. Sizzlipede turned just in time to receive the power up, which was an X Sp. Def. The battle item shattered as soon as it made contact with the Bug/Fire type's sizzling body, granting him a massive boost to his special defense stat. Feeling this sudden boost in power, Sizzlipede grinned, getting even more fired up than he already was. If that was even possible. "Woah! Now we're talkin'! I feel like I can do anythin'!" Shinya grinned too, then turned his gaze over to Surskit, giving Sizzlipede his first command of this new battle. "Let's see ya back it up then, Sizzlipede! Use Bite!" Aiming to fulfill the threat he made earlier, Sizzlipede headed straight for Surskit, his fangs bared and ready to do some damage.

Boosted by the Special Defense's enhancement, the Sizzlipede was ready to take on the world, which was the freezing rain and the pond skating opponent. The Surskit put a leg on its head, puzzled, but there would be too many questions to ask the other bug type right now, and it still hadn't had its initial questions answered. "No, no, not a problem! I am just curious! If you don't want to tell me about your kind, that's fine! I am sorry! I'll just leave!" The Surskit pouted. Then, it blasted water at the Sizzlipede, screaming. "What's over there?!" It tried to distract the Sizzlipede as it wanted to get away now, from the awkward encounter. It was trying to distract the fellow bug like a kid pointing something in the air and went what's behind you. "Ahhh! I am sorry! I'll just leave you alone! Have a great day!" The bug closed its eyes and recklessly skated through the water, trying to leave this very awkward encounter. It didn't know what to do if the conversation wasn't going well. It blindly slammed onto the Sizzlipede, and the fire bug Pokemon used this moment to bite onto the bug from fleeing the scene. Wild Encounter

Far too angry and fired up for small talk, Sizzlipede continued to gnaw on one of Surskit's long legs, refusing to let go and allow the Pond Skater Pokemon to escape like it wanted. Plus, it's kind of difficult to talk with your mouthful. Regardless, Surskit still held the advantage in this fight in every possible way. Speed, remaining HP, type advantage, and even terrain. Even with the boost Sizzlipede gained from the item Shinya threw his way, the odds were clearly not in Team Skull's favor this time. But, as always, giving up wasn't something that Team Skull did easily. So, while the Bug/Fire type held Surskit's attention, and its leg, Shinya took a moment to try and come up with their next course of action.
The trainer from Alola had three choices before him in that moment. First, he could swap Sizzlipede out for one of his higher leveled Pokemon and have them finish this battle up in his stead. Second, he could throw a healing item Sizzlipede's way and restore his lost HP. And third, he could give Sizzlipede another command and hope that the Radiator Pokemon would be strong enough to endure another attack from the Bug/Water type. Of course, Shinya doubted one more attack would be enough to finish this wild Surskit off. But on the other hand, Shinya could see that Sizzlipede really wanted to do this on his own and switching him out or healing him up would give Surskit a free move against them anyway.
Plus, there wasn't even any guarantees that Surskit would use Water Gun again, even if it was the wild Pokemon's strongest move against Shinya's young companion. And so, after a solid minute of mental strategizing, the green-haired trainer finally reached a decision, betting it all on this next round of battle. "That's the way, Sizzlipede! Hang tough! Don't give this watery wimp an inch and use Bite again!" Shinya hoped that he made the right call, wiping the rainwater from his face as he waited to see how this next round would turn out. No matter how angry or fired up he got, Sizzlipede would always hear his trainer's voice loud and clear, turning up his body temperature even higher. With the sounds of raindrops and those drops turning to steam filling the area, Sizzlipede went to bite down on the blue bug's leg once again, doubting that it would be able to escape this attack while he was already so close to it.

The pond skater darted away from the fire-bug before he could chomp down. How infuriating. "Sorrrrry! Didn't mean to hit you. It's just so slippery out here and I'm moving so fast but did you have to bite me?" the bug was chattering quickly now, as if trying to talk its way out of a confrontation. It 'accidentally' slipped again and sped into the angry bug's side, sending them both tumbling into a puddle. Like rocks on a lake, the skid a few feet before plopping into the mud. "Oopsie." Sizzlipede retaliated with a hard bite, this time actually getting a grip on the speedster's leg. "Heeeey! No need to biiiite! Quit iiiiit!"

Accident or otherwise, Sizzlipede wasn't even the slightest bit amused about being tackled into a puddle of mud, as both his glare and his body temperature grew even more intense. If that was even possible at this point. As a result, the mud in said puddle quickly began to boil, creating a rather graphic image of hot and cold. With the icy rain continuing to fall down from above, and the angry Radiator Pokemon causing burning heat to rise up from below. Truly, this was not a good place to be. That was true for both Sizzlipede and Surskit, especially since it looked like both Bug type Pokemon had reached their limits. One more attack from either one of them, and this battle would finally come to a close.
And with Surskit's Swift Swim ability, it was blatantly obvious that the Pond Skater Pokemon would once again be the one to make the first move in the round of battle that followed. Naturally, Shinya wasn't about to let that happen, making the decision to actually lend his newest Pokemon a hand this time around. "Yo, Sizzlipede! Heads up!" After grabbing a restoration item from his bag, Shinya called out to Sizzlipede, gaining his attention before tossing said item his way. The item in question was a single Potion. Simple, yet very effective if used in the ideal circumstances. And at this particular moment, the circumstances were quite ideal, to say the least.
Upon hearing his trainer's call, Sizzlipede looked away from Surskit, and saw the lone medical item heading straight for him. Without any hands with which to catch said item, the Bug/Fire type did the only thing he could in this situation, removing his fangs from Surskit's leg and catching the Potion with his mouth. As soon as he did, Sizzlipede crushed the top half of the Potion container with his incredible jaw strength, then proceeded to chug the medicinal liquid inside, feeling a little more of his fatigue melt away with every gulp. Once the container was finally empty, Sizzlipede tossed it aside, turning up the heat inside his body and shouting out in a triumphant manner. "Oh yeah! That's what I'm talkin' about! Just what I needed! You're mine now, blue boy!"
Sizzlipede's glare immediately locked back onto Surskit, and Shinya was still grinning away, as Team Skull had finally gained the upper hand in this bout. All that remained was for Shinya to make the call, and for Sizzlipede to deliver the final blow, which is exactly what those two had in mind for the next few moments. "Ya got this, Sizzlipede! Time to step over this scrub and move onto even greater power! Use your Bite attack one more time! Make sure that Surskit can't do any skatin' for a long time to come!" With that image now filling his mind, Sizzlipede set his sights on another of Surskit's spindly limbs, skittering straight for it with his blazing jaws ready for one more strike. "I'm gonna chew ya into paste and snack on your energy too! It's over for you and your stupid water!"

"Why do we have to keep fightiiiiiing?" the surskit complained, darting first away once its was free, then darting forward as the fire bug gulped down the potion. It skid into its foe, unable to hit the breaks and avoid impact. Unfortunately for it, that put it in striking range for the angry bug once more. "Look, how about we both just, y'know, go our separate ways? Call it off?" EEP! As the bug lunged, it spat more water at the sizzlipede, but it was to little effect. The soaking it gave didn't hurt and it also didn't weaken the bite that followed. Jaws clamped down on the surskit and after some furious thrashing, it was flung into the bushes, defeated. The little pond skater would be out cold for a while. But as the rain petered off, it woke, and leapt up, skittering out of harm's way (hopefully). Shinya would be aware of a chill settling in now. The wet from that icy rain was starting to solidify and leave behind a powdery frost.

Even with the temperature plummeting all around them, Sizzlipede was burning hotter and brighter than ever. And it wasn't just because he gained even more power from his victory. Besting a Water type in battle was no small feat for a Fire type, especially during heavy rainfall. Suffice it to say, Sizzlipede felt like he was on top of the world after Surskit hit the dirt. "RRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH! Ya see that?! No one can take me! Not even ya watery wimps! I'm invincible! I'll burn Arceus itself to a crisp!" After shouting out a very loud battle cry, the Radiator Pokemon made a proud declaration to the heavens above, and the god that ruled over those heavens as well.
And finally, to demonstrate his newfound strength to any deities, trainers, or wild Pokemon that may have been watching, Sizzlipede turned up the heat even further, rolling into a wheel and speeding all around the area. Given the rather sudden decrease in temperature, this was a very welcome surprise for Shinya, who gained a new grin upon his face and approached one of the trails his Pokemon made in order to warm himself up. "Well now, looks like ya learned how to use Flame Wheel, Sizzlipede. Ya finally got a Fire type move with some kick to it. That's good, but it's not quite Arceus tier just yet. Although, one day, when we're all a lot stronger, that isn't a bad idea."
At that moment, Shinya was already formulating a plan for the future, thinking that Team Skull's name would be known and feared the entire world over if they defeat the one and only Arceus in battle. It didn't take long for the Bug type trainer to get sold on the whole idea, facing the heaven's himself, following his Pokemon's example, and making a declaration of his own. "YEAH! Ya hear that, Arceus! Team Skull's comin' for ya! One day soon, your throne will be ours!" After listening to his voice echo out into the distance, Shinya faced Sizzlipede once again, having not forgotten that their training wasn't over just yet. Setting Arceus aside for the time being, they still weren't even ready to face Bugsy in battle just yet. Fortunately for all of his Pokemon, Shinya wasn't so prideful that he failed to realize that they all still had quite a long way to go.
"Alright, I think that's enough shoutin' for now, Sizzlipede. Let's go find us another chump to test your new move against. Now that the rain has stopped, I'm sure it'll really do some damage and then some." The Team Skull grunt addressed his newest Pokemon, then stuck his hands into his pockets and proceeded to walk towards a section of route 33 that they hadn't set foot on just yet. The thought of trying out his new move on something other than grass was all the motivation the Bug/Fire type needed to follow his trainer's lead, Flame Wheeling over to his side before returning to normal and using his legs, wanting to save his fire for the actual opponents to come. "Yeah! Yeah! Just you wait, boss! I'll roll right over 'em! Burn 'em! Make 'em cry! Then do it all over again until there's nothin' left but ash!" Sizzlipede's statement amused Shinya, causing him to chuckle a bit as they strode, very much looking forward to the next bout himself. "Now that's somethin' I'd really like to see, Sizzlipede."
OOC: I'll have Sizzlipede learn Flame Wheel, having him forget Ember in its place. And, of course, here's 576 more words for Shinya's Hawlucha egg. Thanks a bunch.
