After his interesting journey into the Burned Tower where he was nearly defeated by Silver, and an encounter with the legendary Raikou, Alex needed a small break from his recent adventures, and headed into the Kimono Dance Theater. The locals praised about it and even advertised it inside the Pokemon Center and PokeMart. He had decided he would have to see what it was about, as he was very curious and would need to quench that curiosity.

He grabbed his seat and waited as the show began. It was great to sit down every now and then and enjoy the local culture. He could rest his mind from strategizing a battle, and not worrying about exam materials. The lights went dark for a bit, and the audience immediately went quiet. Then, the stage light glowed bright as music from traditional instruments began to play. He had no expectations other than let his ears and eyes guide him as he watched.

Rising up, back on the street

The musical melodies pumped through the stadium and filled the air. It was loud enough to drown out virtually any and all sounds, yet just soft enough to allow individuals sitting side-by-side to carry on a conversation so long as they focused on what they were conveying to each other. Small waitresses pushed their way gently through the crowds, carrying large trays full of au d'oeuvres and drinks. They would step up to different tables with a slight bend and a smile, gesturing towards their plates. “Can I interest you in anything, sir?” or “Care for some smoked trout Croquettes?”

Did my time, took my chances

Some accepted, many pushed the waiters and waitresses away with a wave of their hand. Of course, drinks were favored above all else in a place like this, where people gathered close together to watch beautifully dressed young women perform life on stage. Some couples popped up in their obvious ways – arms intertwined as though they fretted that one of them may blow away in a stray breeze should they ever let go. Many more single individuals and families outnumbered the simple sweethearts, often with parents gently prodding their youngsters and gesturing towards the young women onstage in awe.

Went the distance, now I'm back on my feet

“Are you sure you’re ready?” The director frowned behind the scenes as the curtains swayed at the edges of the stage. His voice was low, so that the roar of the music and face paced movements of the young ladies would obscure every syllable. “Ok…good. We don’t want a repeat like last time. Right? …Good.” He hissed through a small,. Handheld device, before pocketing it and stepping out from behind the stage to clasp his hands eagerly together. The five women, each donned in an equally elegant and uniquely hued kimono, would slowly part to one side of the stage with a slight bow as their director stood up, center stage.

Just a man and his will to survive

“Ladies and Gentlemen! And travelers of all affiliations in between! We’re so pleased that you could all make it to our small event. Our wonderful Kimono Sisters absolutely adore dancing for you!” He gestured towards the girls and clapped, causing the crowd to erupt in loud clapping and excited whistling as their obvious fans made themselves known among the group. “As promised, one very lucky contestant will get a very special meet and greet with our Kimono Girls on stage! Hopefully, you’ve all brought your trusty team of Pokemon, right?” A small giggle to get the crowd laughing now, as many widened and worried eyes fumbled in the dim lights to ensure their pockets were lined with Poke Balls.

So many times it happens too fast

“Number…” The director called loud through his microphone while surfing inside of a canister of tickets, before pulling one out and holding it up high above him. Then, he’d lower it and read the number loud and clear, “105674! Are you out there number 105674?!” The stage lights would immediately turn and surf through the crowd in search of the mysterious guest lurking in the shadows, until Alex admitted that he had the winning ticket. Then the lights would shine brightly on him as the director gestured for the young man to join him on stage. “There you are! Don’t be shy, come on up here and tell everyone your name!” The Director smiled, holding the microphone out so Alex could speak into it.

You change your passion for glory

“Now, do you already know our rules or would you like a breakdown?” If Alex said no, the Director would nod expectantly. “Ah, yes. So you can only use one Pokemon against each girl. The girl you face will be decided after you’ve chosen your Pokemon for the fight. And no repeat fighters from one girl to the next, understand? So….are you ready, Mr. Alex?” The Director asked excitedly, while gesturing to each of the five ladies to the side of the stage.

While the girls giggle and prepare to battle, who will Alex use first?

Alex didn't say no to the Croquettes, if they were part of the ticket fee, once it's clarified with the waitress. If they said yes, then trying local cuisine was welcomed; and if they said no, then he was fine with missing out on it. He kindly accepted a cold glass of water, when the drinks waitresses were walking around, serving drinks before the show actually started.

The stage light finally lit up, and the curtains withdrawn. The director spoke up and made an announcement about winning tickets as the colorfully dressed Kimono girls stood by the side. When the number was called out, he looked at his ticket and was bemused that it was his number! Oh dang! He gave himself a few seconds to exhale deeply, as the stage light continued to swirl the audience looking for the winner. Once he was sort of ready, he got up and announce him as the winner. He put a hand on his head to block the glaring warm light singling him out. So much for hazard for the eyes. Somebody could have been blinded by this!

He went toward the stage and introduced his name. He actually hadn't know about the rules, and listened as the man explained the rules. One Pokemon, one Kimono girl? He understood. Although for him, the challenge was what Pokemon they have against his grass and bug type team.

He didn't know what to expect, and each of his Pokemon have their own strengths and weaknesses. He grabbed a Pokeball and made a decision. "GO, Lodd. Use Rain Dance!" Making it rain indoor would be an interesting entry. He hoped they have insurance or drainage system.

You know I never meant to see you again

Of course, the Croquettes were part of the price of admission and therefore included for all the guests who enjoyed the beautiful Kimono Sisters as they danced to the melodic beats. The waitress eagerly handed Alex some of the croquettes on a small, disposable plate, before making her rounds to the other customers, who each eagerly accepted the free food with open hands and hungry stomachs. The waitress with water would place a large glass of ice water down beside the plate of croquettes with a smile and a wink as she uttered the words “Enjoy” under her breath.

But I only passed by as a friend, yeah

When Alex left his position at his table to take his place on stage, both waitresses worked together to quickly clear the seat and make it suitable for another guest. Were they expecting him not to sit back down any time soon? After the director finished explaining the rules of the matches Alex must face with each Kimono sister, the lights above them spiraled erratically over the five girls until they finally stopped on one decked in a bright blue Kimono with her long, jet black hair pulled back. She nodded with a smile, stepping out from her sisters. A small wooden fan raised up to her face and stretched wide as she opened it to conceal herself with a slight bow towards Alex.

All this time I stayed out of sight

“It is a pleasure to meet you. My name is Kuni. I find that life is best experienced through careful consideration in the present for the implications it holds on our future.” She added with a wink, before reaching into her long sleeves to procure a small red-and-white ball, that she tossed into the air with the click of a button. A bright blue mermaid-like canid appeared in the burst of a bright red beam of light. While it had four normal legs it walked freely on, large frills surrounded its face along with two long frill-like ears and a dorsal fin jutting out of the top of its head. It’s long tail ended in split fin. “When the current is pulling you at its strongest, the worst thing you can do is fight it. Sometimes, you have to ride it out to see the light of day.”

I started wondering why

The medium-sized aquatic canid stretched itself on its limbs and yawned, before vigorously shaking itself. It pressed itself up against Kuni and purred softly while staring at its trainer with admiration sparkling in its eyes. “This is Rainer, my partner and the Pokemon I will be using against you. He is a Vaporeon, an evolution of Eevee achieved with a Water Stone.” She nodded to her companion, as Alex called out his large plant-shaped Pokemon with it’s sombrero and duck bill for a mouth. “Rainer use Wish!” Kuni called hurriedly as Ludicolo clapped her hands together and began to dance excitedly to the music that swayed through the entire theater.

Now I, ooh, now I wish it would rain down, down on me

Rainer barked energetically and jumped on the tips of its nimble feet. Then it took in a deep breath of air and held it in the pit of its chest as it slowly sat down and focused inwardly. The barking slowly transformed into one long cry as thick rain clouds appeared overhead and began pouring down on the stadium floor around them. Meanwhile, the Director walked over to the wall and pressed a small button, causing the floor to creak and open small drain holes around their base. Being a battling theater as well as a dance theater, with one of their girls specializing in a water type, it was a necessary feature. A small star magically streaked over Rainer’s head and disappeared as he cast his wish. “So tell me, Mr. Alex.” Kuni called out curiously. “Tell me…what’s your motto?” She smiled with a slight wink.

Alex took a small bite of the first croquettes to sample it. It was warm but not too hot that it would burn your mouth. The crunchy or crispy shell of the snack, and the fillings were flavorful in their own rights. There were ingredients, some probably vegetables. He don't have some magical culinary tongue, but he could taste unique flavors from the specialty theater snacks. After he drank like half of his glass of water, he was selected and called to the stage for a special show. With anticipation, he stared at the colorfully dressed Kimono dancers as the light jumped and moved around, in an annoying pattern.

When the woman in light blue kimono was selected, she spoke poetically and metaphorically as she sent out her Vaporeon. A perfect match for his part grass type! Even though he had his Pokemon start with a Rain Dance, which would boost its water type attacks, it would be moot against his grass and water type Ludicolo.

"This is Lodd, She's a jolly Ludicolo!" He introduced his Pokemon as well. "This current, if it's an unstoppable force, calmly embrace the life given and accept the end?" He added his own response to Kuni's introduction, a dark and realistic version.

The opponent water type had made a wish on its foundation, and Alex had a feeling that his opponent knew that it would be having a hard time against this Ludicolo. As Lodd was dancing and wobbling and shuffling between her left and right feet, the trainer responded to Kuni's proposed question. "Hmm... I don't usually word my ideas like a Motto. But, 'Be Curious About the World'." He replied, as he was a student of his aspiring medicinal profession. Most every illnesses and injuries have a cause and a method to rehabilitate. He didn't think he would have to elaborate that gossips weren't part of this Curiosity.

"Lodd, that was a great Rain Dance! Now go for a Giga Drain!" He called out his next move, flat out attacking the Vaporeon right away.

I'm shedding, shedding every color

Kuni raised a curious eye to her new companion. This man had deep thoughts that expanded the metaphors and brought them to life in somewhat horrific ways. There was always the possibility of a current being so strong that you couldn’t fight it or survive it. The only thing you could do, then, was succumb to it. “Nature is a powerful force.” She agreed with a nod of her head. “Water is part of that powerful force of nature. Sometimes, the hardest truth we can admit is that we cannot control everything.” She added with a grim smile.

Trying to find a pigment of truth beneath my skin

The crowd clung to the edges of their seats as they watched the battle on the stage. Water splashed over the protective guardrails that the director had lifted up in the shadows. It sprayed the front row audience, who mostly laughed it off as they pressed themselves a little bit closer to the stage. Guards would walk over to the most daring of them and gently press them back with a shake of their heads. “Stay behind the line.” Was the only warning they would be given. Some eager individuals took bets on the match in the shadows along the sides of the room, carefully peering up on occasion to make sure they wouldn’t get caught.

'Cause different doesn't feel so different

“Curiosity is both a force of good and bad.” Kuni added thoughtfully as she turned towards her trusted companion with a determined nod. “Rainer use Aurora Beam! Try to freeze the ground underneath Lodd’s feet and make it harder for her to swim through this current!” The black-haired sister with her long flowing blue Kimono shouted loudly over the music that pumped through the speakers. Her Vaporeon growled loudly and smacked the top of the water that fell from the mysterious clouds above with her thick tail. The two focused in unison. While Lodd began to glow with a strange green light of energy, Rainer’s mouth began to glow with an icy whitish-blue light of energy.

And going out is always better than staying in

Rainer would fire her energetic light at the ground, causing the small puddle of water to freeze over around Lodd’s feet. The ice splashed up with the water and slashed against Lodd’s legs where their jagged edges formed rough blades. This wasn’t nearly quick enough to stop Lodd, however, who had unleashed her energetic light to shoot from her body and hit Rainer directly, draining him of his health almost instantly. “Vaaaay!” Rainer cried loudly from the pain, shaking himself to try and recover. “That’s a nice attack, but it’ll take a bit more to take us down.” Kuni smiled with a knowing nod towards her Pokemon as a strange light shot overhead, landed on Rainer, and healed the Vaporeon completely. “Eeooonn!” He shouted thankfully.

Let the rain fall down and wake my dreams

The next round wouldn’t play out as well. Now that the wish had already been granted, it left Kuni and Rainer with limited options. Should they waste another round on another wish, and hoped they could squeak by with a bit of health until the wish was granted? Or face the current that tried to drag them under and swim with it, to see where they would land? “Continue with Aurora Beam!” She called out over the roar of the music and the crowd, whose excitement sounded like a swarm of buzzing bees. Lodd recovered all of her health with her powerful blast of energy, while Rainer chipped away at Lodd’s health once more with his attack. Still, whether it was almost clear what the results might be, Kuni and Rainer would never give in so easily. “You’ve trained her well. How did you and Lodd originally meet?” Kuni asked Alex curiously.

Alex simply smiled politely after the Vaporeon trainer responded, as he didn't have any more add to the poetic metaphor. Maybe, he would for the next person. He paid no heeds to the audience now, as his mind was focused on the battle. Although, he knew there wasn't much strategy needed for sending out a part grass type against a water type.

"Of course, curiosity too far could be madness on its own." He replied to this one, thinking about how many literatures that cited an extremely curious idea lead to madness. He watched as his opponent talked of trying to freeze the dancing pineapple's feet. Well, sadly, freezing don't usually happens in a battle, and when it does, unfortunate to those when it happened. Soon after the aurora beam attack, a strange light landed on the Vaporeon, as if like an alien abduction that blast healing beam instead.

Kuni and Rainer might have tried, but they were no match for such a toughed skinned Ludicolo. Whether they would use Wish or Aurora Beam, or likely, other moves next, Lodd could just crush them! When asked about how he and Lodd met, Alex had to jog his memory. Lotads were a presence in places with shallow water, but where was it? It wasn't the Ilex Forest lake with the haunted spirits and Chikorita. No, that wasn't it. Tilting his head up just a little bit, he stared at the ceiling where the stage lights weren't glaring at his eyes.

... Oh, it was the surprise Safari visit he got, and one of the first few encounters too. He just couldn't remember which one right now, as his mind was thinking hard. He smiled, as his head returned to focus on the battle. "I believe I met her during a surprise Safari winning visit. She was one of my first few encounters, as a Lombre too! Lodd, keep it up with another Giga Drain!"

Here comes the rain again

Madness? Kuni placed one finger to her chin and hummed softly underneath her breath as she thought about that personally. She spent most of her time out in the deep blue, seeing the Pokemon that called the wide ocean home and seeing all that the sea had to offer her. While she did read occasionally, most of them were nonfiction works focused on the biology of marine life and their habitats. “That’s an interesting perspective.” She admitted with a smile, before turning to Rainer with a simple nod. “Lodd’s still faster than us in this rainstorm, so I need you to use your Quick Attack. Give it your all!”

Falling on my head like a memory

Rainer slammed his thick tail on the top of the waters that rushed across the treated hardwood floors, causing the water to spray up into the air at the crowd nearest the stage. Several audience members shielded their faces and gasped loudly. Some complained audibly about whether or not there was liability damage from such an assault, but most just laughed it off in good fun. Of course, all tickets were sold with enough disclaimers to protect them from virtually any lawsuits. It was the risk you took to see such spectacles before your very eyes, after all.

Falling on my head like a new emotion

“Rainer and I met…” She hummed and closed her eyes for a second. The stage disappeared and Kuni allowed herself to just listen to the rain that poured from the clouds above their heads. It drenched through her kimono and drummed against the rain-soaked floors in a pitter patter of sounds. It was soft, and behind that soft tone was the warning of torrential storms that could rip the land apart if you weren’t careful. Somewhere in the back of her mind, a memory of a young Eevee trapped out at sea on an old log emerged. “You silly thing, what are you doing so far out here?”

I want to walk in the open wind

“Maybe it wants to learn to swim.” An older male voice soothingly spoke to Kuni and placed a wrinkled hand on her shoulders. “I remember you getting stuck when you were first learning how too.” The male voice chuckled softly. Rainer zipped across the water at the top of his nimble feet as Kuni opened her eyes with a wide smile. “I found him as an Eevee lost at sea. We’ve been inseparable since. You see…the ocean called to Rainer just like it calls to me.” She smiled brightly as Rainer slammed into Lodd’s side with a critically powerful hit.

I want to talk like lovers do

That wouldn’t be enough to win them the match, sadly. As Lodd’s eyes began to glow once more with a strange light of green energy and surround Rainer, what was left of the aquatic mammal’s fighting spirit would be drained from his core. He cried loudly in pain, then slunk back over to Kuni’s side, pawing at her Kimono with wide, pleading eyes. “Oh, you’ve had enough?” Rainer nodded, to which Kuni would quickly recall him. “Rainer is unable to battle! Our challenger has won the first match!” The director came on stage before them and announced to the crowd, who erupted into a mixture of cheers and screams of ‘boos’.

Want to dive into your ocean

Kuni walked over to Alex and bowed respectfully. “Your Lodd is very talented. Hopefully my next sister won’t be as easy to defeat as I was.” She giggled, then turned to return to the side of the stage were her other sisters were. The director would also step over to the side and nod expectantly towards Alex, as well. “Once you’ve chosen your next Pokemon, we’ll tell you who you’re facing next.” He said with a wide, almost suspicious grin. Now the question remained…who would Alex choose to face off against the sisters with next?

Kuni lingered on his response as she thought of his words. Whatever she was thinking, Alex could guess, but he didn't know her that well. He watched as the Vaporeon tried to run across the stage to give his Pokemon a worthy Quick Attack, but it didn't take long for his Ludicolo's Giga Drain to suck the water type opponent lifeless. When the kimono opponent reminiscent about how they met, Alex let out an awkward smile as he replied. "So we have an ocean Pokemon fighting a pond Pokemon just now?" It was an interesting water type versus water type situation, but this can't be the first time for Alex either. Also, Vaporeons were one of those water type Pokemon that weren't strictly tied to the ocean or landlocked lake.

Once Lodd had sealed the victory for this round, Alex thanked his Pokemon for her help as he thought of the next choice. The indoor rain also had receded with his return. It wouldn't take long for the ground to dry up again, especially under the air condition and stage light.

There's a lot of uncertainty in the air, and if he take too long to think, it would get awkward to be standing on the stage while everyone stares at you. He decided to use one of his trusty Pokemon. "Gig, we've got a battle for you! Start off with Screech!" He tossed a Pokeball and released a giant and tall purple bug Pokemon. His tough carapace shimmered a little under the stage light.

Hello darkness, my old friend

The stage lights dimmed as they shifted to an empty spot on the stage just a few paces away from Alex. Their hues changed to an almost night-like tone, where the shadows grew in abundance around them and blended together. There were murmurs running through the crowds as they all talked amongst each other in anticipation of the next contestant. “I bet it’s going to be Naoko! She’s the girl of my dreams y’know.” A huge, burly older man in overalls without a shirt and a hat that hid his balding head spoke. His companion was a slender man, though older too, with a nice suit buttoned up to his neck and a distinguished hat placed firmly on his head. “These lights are telltale signs of Sayo, watch.” The slender companion commented.

I've come to talk with you again

The director raised his hands high at his sides with a mile-wide grin that could crack the corners of his mouth. “Ladies and Gentleman! This has been quite the match, has it not?!” A wave of cheers and jeers broke out chaotically all around him as the director shot a firm and knowing look to his girls: don’t disappoint. They fidgeted a bit uneasily where they stood but never let the smiles on their lips slip. “I hope you’ll all give a loud round of applause for our contestant’s next opponent! The one and only, lovely as the moonlight in a starless sky, Zuki!”

Because the vision softly creeping

The young woman stepped out in her strikingly black kimono adorned with bright golden accents that shimmered under the low lighting. Her Kimono, coupled with her long jet black hair that was pinned up on top of her head, remained partially obscured in the low stage lights that flickered around them. Quietly, she walked out to her place and bowed graciously towards Alex, while keeping her face concealed behind the long sleeves of her outfit. “It’s a pleasure, Mister Alex.” Zuki called to him, while pulling a small ball free from inside one of her sleeves and tossing it up high into the air.

Left its seeds while I was sleeping

“Tamao, please come out and introduce yourself.” The long, slender black mammal whose body and long legs seemed reminiscent of a canine’s though his face bore the sharp, pointed angles of a feline, jumped out on the stage and stared at Alex’s large centipede through quiet, unwavering eyes. Tamao’s long, fox-like fluffy ears stood erect on top of his head as he listened quietly. “Umm!” Was all he’d give, before preparing himself for the fight. “Use Confuse Ray!”

And the vision that was planted in my brain

The large purple bug stretched his many limbs out as he turned bravely to his opponent and stared at Tamao. Legigant would then scream at the top of his lungs with such an ear-shattering sound, it caused Tamao to jump backwards a few paces and shake his head furiously to try and rid himself of the horrendous sound. Tamao’s eyes began to glow as he lifted his head back up to face his opponent. He unleashed long, spiraling rays that slammed into Legigent and caused him to stumbled about in confusion for a bit. Tamao smirked as did his owner, though she concealed hers behind the long sleeves of her kimono. “Looks like your Gig is a bit lost…” She spoke softly and chuckled to herself.

The crowds were speculating audibly as the stage dimmed for the next one. It didn't matter who was chosen though, as Alex's Scolipede should be equipped now for whoever wanted to show up next. After the Director had spoken, it was revealed that Zuki was the next one. Alex didn't have to spend too much time to make the connection of her nocturnal affinity. The girl's black kimono head-to-toe, with her dark furred Umbreon, and the introduction with starless sky.

"Hello Zuki and Tamao," Alex greeted the two, looking at the Umbreon opposed to his towering Scolipede. The Umbreon hummed a sound to greet before quickly focusing on the battle. After Gig's piercing and deafening sound, the dark type returned with a Confuse Ray, as its yellow parts of the body glowed and then swirled and spiraled enough to confuse Gig. Both of them weren't attacking outright yet.

"Well yes, my Pokemon looked lost because your Umbreon did that. Starting off defensively, I see." Alex replied, bluntly. He then gave out his next order for his Pokemon. "Hang in there, Gig! Fight through the confusion and use Bug Bite!"

It's a supernatural delight

The dim lighting created the perfect night-like effect on the stage. Shadows dominated the stage, allowing the black mammalian Pokemon to shift through them nearly unseen. Only his glowing yellow markings would stand out amongst the moonlight like setting that soaked the stage. Zuki simply raised an eye curiously in Alex’s direction with a sort of smile. “I did…” She hummed, tapping the side of her face while casting a glance skyward towards the roof above their heads. “Not unlike you and Legigent starting out though…no?” She mused with a soft, barely audible, laugh.

Everybody here is out of sight

The two danced on the stage. Legigent sped across the old wooden floors. They creaked, giving away the sheer mass of Legigent and the age of the wood itself. Though they sparkled with a brilliant shine that professional cleaning gave purpose behind, the telltale creaking promised that the wood wasn’t quite as new as they may have appeared. Umbreon, swift and nimble and a little less than an eighth of Legigent’s weight, barely caused a groan from the wooden boards respectively. The crowd watched with mesmerized gazes as their heads swiveled around almost like they were baubles, following the two that swirled around each other. “Tamao use Assurance!” Zuki called over the mesmerizing swaying of the two combative Pokemon.

They don't bark and they don't bite

“Are you reactive or proactive in battle?” Zuki asked her opponent with a soft hum as she considered the question for herself. In many ways, Zuki relied proactively on the setups that they could place upon the field before their opponents could sneak away with an upper hand in the fight. However, if that fell outside of their favor, they would be almost forced to be reactive to the given situations they found themselves in. “Though most would probably ask if you’re an offensive or defensive battler…I find that’s only half of the answer that paints a full picture.” She smirked with a lone twinkle in her eye. Umbreon leaped up high into the air with a wide smirk as he swung down towards Legigent, who easily dodged just out of Umbreon’s grasps.

Everybody's feeling warm and bright

Some of the audience members cursed and swore loudly, while others applauded. Security moved in when two men at opposite ends of the place flipped their respective tables while arguing audibly with their gambling buddies. Legigent swept Tamao off his feet, knocking the Umbreon down on the ground before swooping over him with his long, purple buggy body. Within an instance, Legigent bit down harshly on Tamao’s neck, draining his life force and will to fight dramatically from his form. “Never bet against a bug in the dark my friend!” One of the winning betters called to their losing companion smugly while counting their winnings and watching the guard drag the losing gambler out the front doors.

It's such a fine and natural sight

Zuki frowned as she stared down at her black mammalian companion, before recalling Tamao back inside of his ball. “You’ve…won.” She hummed softly as though confused, before accepting this sort of fate with a simple nod. Zuki walked over to Alex and extended a hand to shake his while slipping a small sum of funds from her pockets into his hands. “Congratulations. You are the better battler. I wish you well in your next match.” She stated, before walking back to her sisters as the Director took the stage, announcing the findings. “But can our new opponent Alex keep it up against our next girl?” The Director asked the crowd loudly, waving to get them to all start cheering in anticipation as the lights brightened and shined on Alex once more.

Chance of confusion ruining a round didn't happen and chance of Tamao surviving one hit from Bug Bite (92.8%-112.5%) was one RNG roll away but that extra point rolled just perfectly so. ! Huzzah for RNG loving you!

"Well, in some battles, or some Pokemon I send out, it's nice to start off defensively first." Alex replied, thinking long enough for Zuki to ask another question, and now he could answer to both of Zuki's inquiries. He would like to adapt to the situation to his best ability, and there's no way to tell what tricks the opponent would have under their sleeves, or bag, or whatever.

He watched as his staggering Scolipede moved on the creaky wooden floor. Either the Scolipede was heavier than the stage floor was meant to hold, or his weight was uneven on some part of the floor that made it creak. Well, the floor wasn't as creaky as the Burned Tower, so he had some relief knowing that at least this stage floor would be maintained like normal. In a few minutes, the bug type was able to isolate the fleeing dark type, and captured it with a mouthful of his jaw.

"Thank you, Zuki, you did great too with the confusion!" Alex accepted his small prizes, smiling. After the black dressed kimono girl exited, Alex was beginning to think that all of them have some form of Eevee evolution as their Pokemon. If his prediction was correct, this meant that one of them would have a Flareon, which could spell doom to his team, as his Pokemon were mostly weak to them. He was hoping to get lucky by sending out his other Pokemon who might have a chance with Flareon for another time.

For now, he was taking a risk that he didn't like, and sent out a fluttering bug type instead. "Come on out, Tackzill, use Light Screen!" Going from a giant Scolipede to a smaller bug, the size difference was interesting in the stage. This whole battling the kimono girls was one big gambling and dependent on who was selected to battle you!

She's just a girl and she's on fire

The Director’s smile curved at the edges of his face as he nodded to the other girls waiting on the sidelines. So far, they’d managed to each stand up against Alex and subsequently accept their defeat at the hands of the lad’s powerful grass or bug type Pokemon. An eyebrow raised curiously as he watched the combatants struggle against his girls’ Pokemon, and yet each walk away victorious from they successive fight. The lights changed to a strange burning red that bathed the walls and the floor around them. It made the mahogany red floorboards underneath their feet appear almost as though it were burning alive underneath their sharp gaze.

Hotter than a fantasy

Many cheered as a young girl identical to the last two with her flowing black hair and piercing eyes, yet completely wrapped up in a bright red kimono stepped out onto the floor. She smiled, turning to the crowd momentarily to wave and bow politely to her audience. “You’ve really given my sisters quite a challenge.” Miki added with a sharp gaze that seemed to size Alex up, before pulling out a small red-and-white ball from inside of her sleeve. She tossed it up into the air with the click of a button, releasing a fluffy red fox-like Pokemon with a thick creamy mane and thick creamy tail. “But I don’t think you’ll find me so easy.”

Lonely than a highway 

“Pyro use your Fire Fang! You’ll need to wait until that bug flies close enough so that you can jump up and bite him!” Miki cupped her hands around her mouth like a makeshift speaker and shouted to her bright red fox. Pyro growled lowly underneath his breath and pressed himself against the wooden floorboards – all subsequently coated in a fire-resistant coating – and watched his opponent flapping about in the air above him with his ears pinned against the sides of his face. It was as though Pyro were stalking Tackzill though tall grasses, though they were out in the open and left the fire inclined Pokemon little room to truly camouflage or hide.

She's living in a world and it's on fire

“I prefer an offensive approach!” Miki declared with a wide smile. She’d listened to Alex’s previous conversations with her sisters and watched his bug spinning around in the air, setting up a brilliant screen around himself. That wouldn’t help them much against her offensive Pokemon. “The best defense is a good offense, in my book! When our opponents hit hard, we hit harder! Isn’t that right, Pyro?!” The fox-like Pokemon growled loudly as though it were agreeing with its trainer, all the while keeping its eyes peeled on Tackzill.

Filled with catastrophe

Flames washed over Pyro’s sharp teeth. His dark blue eyes narrowed in on his opponent with a small smile. Dustox remained high above them as he spun about and created a brilliant light that cloaked him. However, during the performance, Tackzill would dip low while setting up the Light Screen. At that moment, Pyro would strike, jumping up high into the air and snagging his fire-soaked fangs on Tackzill’s rear end. He pulled the fluttering bug down to the ground with him with a mighty chomp. Though, Tackzill managed to pull away and shake himself of the worst of the flames before they had a chance to burn him.

But she knows she can fly away

You jinxed yourself... 1-3

As soon as the stage light turned red, Alex felt a sense of dread looming inside of his head. Even though he was a bug and grass type trainer, some of his Pokemon just weren't equip to handle such opponents of thermal personality. Unfortunately, the one he did sent out to face the Flareon wasn't equipped with anything useful to face the opponent. Since his opponents were quite color coordinated, the red kimono girl named Miki stepped up on the stage to basically burn his bug type to crisp.

"Yees... I'm sure this one will be easy for you though." He replied to Miki, looking downward at the Flareon who just hopped out of the Pokeball standing on the wooden stage. He knew his Dustox wouldn't match up against this thing. There wasn't exactly much he could do against a fire type, when he sent out a bug type with no counter moves of its own.

"Well, there's usually not a lot of defensive fire types..." Alex replied, thinking only of his Torkoal, and maybe a Pokemon like Magcargo or maybe Camerupt, but he wasn't familiar with those either. He watched as the battle unfolded, maybe he shouldn't just send out a Pokemon and gambled on the opponent using a special attacking Pokemon. He MIGHT have a chance if he waited to see who step forward before calling a move, since Tackzill's Psybeam might confuse the opponent and buy him a turn. Alas, this wasn't the case and it was too late to change!

"Tackzill, we'll try our best and use Psybeam!" He ordered his next move, not expecting much but a loss from this one.
