Rematch Clause Activate! [GYM] [F]

Bugsy grinned, it was always fun with some great battles, and rematches were extra fun now he got to see how his opponents had grown and how they had learned from the last experience to do better this time. It wasn't always enough, but this battle, with Bugsy down at one pokemon left while his opponent had only lost one, it didn't look to be in his favor.
Electroweb would be perfect against water types but unfortunately it wasn't enough this time.

The bug specialist blushed briefly at Tristan's words, he wasn't used to praise as most trainers usually went completely opposite and mocked his pokemon and his interest in them. Right until his scyther beat them at least. This was quite another type of happiness he was feeling, compared to the smug one when he taught the overconfident ones a lesson in respect.
"Thank you, I will love working together with you one day if you become a gym leader. I can't imagine it would be with anything but water types?" He said with a smile.

"I wouldn't complain about that," Bugsy said and zoned out for a heartbeat, "I have really enjoyed watching some of the battles in the tv. They are doing a great job showing of the beauty of bug types you know! Beautifly and dustox, masquerain, and Nando has really brought forth a forgotten pokemon with his kricketune!"

A frown creased Bugsy's forehead as Tristan chose to leave out his poliwag against Kakuna. "You really have grown fast," he commented to the challenger. Probably more than Bugsy had anticipated, usually trainers spent weeks before they challenged him again, and he had probably underestimated him since it had been so easy last time. And because he had just had a couple of very easy battles against some other trainers who had no clue what they had been going into.
Was there anything he could do to turn it around now? He had hoped Metapod could have done more with its Electroweb, that had been the perfect match, but it looked like it hadn't even slowed Atlanna down enough for it to make a difference. Tristan really had grown quickly and had adapted well for this rematch.
He sighed, things did not look well for him but he could be happy he clearly had managed to teach his challenger something.
"Bug Bite Kakuna, give it all you got!" He called out, the battle was not over yet.

The bubbles came flying through the air and hammered into the cocooned pokemon, who toppled over. For a moment it looked like that was it, except neither Bugsy nor the referee made any hints of calling off the battle.
Then a string shot from the yellow pokemon and to a branch above and with a quick pull the kakuna got airborne. It crashlanded right on top of Atlanna in a manner that was anything but elegant.
"It's good this isn't a contest!" Bugsy chuckled.

It's been a pleasure!

Tristan and Bugsy's relationship was that of a friendly rivalry, one with no animosity from either man towards the other, after all the pair were flowing in conversation despite the fact their pokemon combatants were firmly in the thick of battle. This was no doubt a far-cry from the norm of challengers that stomped their way into Bugsy's gym with high and mighty hopes only to trudge out the other side asking themselves where exactly they went wrong.

"Working alongside you as a gym leader one day with my own water type specialized gym would be a dream come true mate trust me! I've got a long way to go and alot to learn before that one becomes a reality though!"

The way in which Tristan had approached the rematch against Bugsy and his team of feisty bug type pokemon had been a showcase of dedication to one's craft, a true development of character as the blonde haired teenager would often act before thinking and fail to plan multiple steps ahead. The recent experience in Slowpoke Well involving Team Rocket had provided a reality shock of sorts to Tristan, he could have been seriously physically injured at the criminals' hands, however with a strategical approach he was able to emerge as an unexpected hero.

"Contests are a wonderful spectacle! Nando especially is a well renowned competitor who has exemplified the beauty of bug type pokemon! I have no doubts should the contest scene arrive in Johto, you'll be making your mark as this region's eminent bug type spectacle!"

The battle raged on in front of Bugsy and Tristan, both competitors focused locked solely on witnessing their pokemon play out the sequence of events that they had requested. Thankfully for Tristan the speed advantage was firmly in his pokemon's favor as Atlanna's bubblebeam attack jetted through the air and slammed into the yellow cocoon pokemon, toppling it over. Bugsy's Kakuna lie idle for a few moments as a result of Atlanna's Bubblebeam attack, Tristan didn't bat an eyelid, he was almost certain the yellow cocoon pokemon had more to give. Tristan's instincts were proven correct soon enough as the Kakuna wisely utilized its string shot to go airborne and crash land on top of Atlanna, while it may not have looked elegant in the slightest, it was effective nonetheless. Bugsy himself jokingly made note of the fact that he was glad it was a gym battle and not a contest, a chuckle from Tristan also followed as he enjoyed the assessment of the situation,

"As with anything, practice makes perfect right?"

Tristan surveyed the aftermath of the latest round of attacking maneuvers, it was abundantly clear to the naked eye that Atlanna looked the healthier of the two combatants as her movements were less laborious. One more powerful, accurate shot would likely seal the outcome of the battle in Tristan's favor, with that thought firmly in the blonde haired teenagers mind he gave a smile in Atlanna's direction and issued what he hoped would be his final attacking request in the gym battle,

"Atlanna, you're just like me, you've grown so much girl and have so much more room to grow! Let's try to finish this off with Bubblebeam my girl!"

Also using 1x Candy Cane should Atlanna win the battle to prompt her evolution to finish off in style (will roleplay it in the style that the item slipped out of Tristan's pocket and Atlanna scurries to eat it, hungry after her efforts in battle)

Tristan was not the first trainer challenging Bugsy, who had expressed interest in being a gym leader himself later on, although Tristan was clearly one of the most promising ones in the bug gym leader's eyes. You needed to be adaptable and learn how to utilize your pokemons strength the best, but you especially also needed to be able to handle a loss as that was a thing a gym leader would experience a lot. People tended to forget that was the main point of being a gym leader.

"With how quickly you have adapted after your first set back, I'm in no doubt you'll reach your goal," Bugsy said with confidence, and then added with a grin, "you are about to beat your second gym leader, so battle wise you have gotten a long way!"
No need to hide the obvious, Atlanna was the fastest, even when slowed down so even though Kakuna battled valiantly it had no time to do anything before another beam of bubbles hit it and toppled it over. This time it stayed down.
"Kakuna is unable to battle! The challenger has won the match!" the referee declared with a raised arm. Bugsy recalled his pokemon, he felt good about this match as he was sure Tristan had been convinced of the power and magnificence of bug types, even if his love was for another type.
Bugsy waved dismissively at Tristan, "I like to watch it, but I have no time concentrating on contests beside being a gym leader," he refused gently.

Bugsy walked over to Tristan and offered a handshake, "Well done, that was a pleasure battling you," he said with a smile. A young assistant with a telltale bugcatcher hat and wide awed eyes stepped up and Bugsy smiled as he took the things the lad held out.
"As a sign you have passed the test, I hereby give you the Hive Badge," Bugsy proclaimed and the younger's eyes followed the badge hungrily. "I also think you can find use for this TM, that is U-turn which you have already seen the effectiveness off, and then there is of course a bit of money." He handed the water type specialist the said items and wished him good luck on his travels.

Onwards and upwards!

Bugsy verbally acknowledged the inevitable outcome of the battle, defeat for the bug type gym leader was imminent barring completely unforeseen, unfortunate circumstances taking place. The much quicker tadpole pokemon unleashed another stream of her powerful Bubblebeam attack, this time the water type attacking maneuver made contact with the yellow cocoon pokemon and the bug type stayed down, unconscious and unable to continue battling any longer, the outcome of the rematch was signed, sealed and delivered in that very moment. There was an eerie silence in the gym for a few moments before the referee declared Tristan as the victor in the battle. Tristan was glowing with excitement, the teenage male visibly elated with the result,

"Super proud of you Atlanna, outstanding effort girl!"

Tristan watched as Bugsy recalled his fainted Kakuna, the yellow bug type pokemon had fought valiantly, just as its teammates had done, albeit this time around it was the team of water type pokemon that prevailed as the victors. The thrill and agony of pokemon battles was surely something, one side would naturally experience victory and the joys associated with it whilst the other would experience defeat and the agony that was attached to it. Tristan's maturity as a pokemon trainer and as a young man was  on show throughout the gym rematch, the blonde haired teen from the Hoenn region had used the agony of losing his first gym battle against Bugsy to improve wholeheartedly and thus flip the script and experience the thrill of victory. 

"Thanks for the kind words Bugsy mate, they really do mean a lot to me! While I've already made it this far in my journey, I've got a long way to go and a lot to learn along the way!"

Bugsy walked over to Tristan and held out his hand for a handshake, to which the blonde haired teenager happily accepted and responded with sincere appreciation towards the opportunity he had been provided,

"A pleasure it was indeed my friend, I'll never forget our battles, maybe one day we can run it back for a third match, settle the scores since it's now one a piece."

The bug type gym leader of Azalea Town was gracious in defeat, a true testament to his character and something that Tristan heavily respected about Bugsy. A young gym assistant wearing a bugcatacher hat approached Tristan and Bugsy bearing gifts, the glow in the young boys eyes spoke volumes, the pair who had just finished battling had no doubt inspired the future generation. Bugsy proceeded to present Tristan with a badge shaped like a ladybug, the Hive Badge, alongside this he also received the TM U-Turn, the maneuver that had given Tristan and his team so much grief whilst facing Bugsy's Scyther, finally some money was handed over, as per the Pokemon League rules.

Whilst the official proceedings were taking place, Atlanna had been dancing in the rain, literally. The tadpole pokemon had clearly learned a new technique with her battling experience. Upon further inspection Tristan happened to notice Atlanna chewing on a candy cane, a sweet treat that had been in the blonde haired teenagers right pocket of his shorts, it must have flew out in the excitement of winning the battle. Suddenly Atalanna begun to glow a sheening white colour, immediately Tristan was aware of the phenomenon that was occurring before his very eyes, the magical process known as evolution. Upon emerging from the glowing white light, the tadpole pokemon was revealed to have morphed physiologically as her bulbous eyes now protruded from the top of her head, the size of the black and white swirl covering her belly had grown larger, she had white gloves on her hands and rounded, digit-less feet, her transformation from Poliwag to Poliwhirl was now complete. Witnessing pokemon evolution firsthand was something Tristan enjoyed and definitely something the teenager would not ever take for granted,

"All the best to you Bugsy mate, my time in Azalea is done for now, but one day I'll be back, I will for sure be looking forward to that day!"

Atlanna had been admiring her new physiological form, she even flexed her arms into bodybuilding like poses to display her new physique. Rather than spoiling the moment by returning his pokemon partner into her pokeball, Tristan instead opted to keep Atlanna outside of her pokeball and to venture alongside him, providing her the opportunity to keep enjoying the high that they were both riding on,

"Off we go Atlanna, onto the next chapter in our journey!"
