The large metal snake rolled its many rocky parts with their elongated protrusions and growled. Weakened and nearly beat, the powerful serpent wasn’t quite down for the count. It’s sharp maroon eyes stared at Chryaisy angrily, chiseled nostrils impossible to flare in indignation. “Very observant.” The long-haired brunette nodded, sharp blue eyes studying Alex thoughtfully. “It is likely the next move will determine the victor.” She added, wondering if she was speaking aloud what her opponent most likely thought. It was an inevitable thought process to say the least.

“Steelix, we can’t give up now.” Jasmine raised one hand and pointed to their opponent with a snap of her fingers. “It seems they’ve held onto the same berry we’ve recently used, aiding them in the battle when they needed it most. Let’s show them everything we’ve got with this attack! Use Iron Tail!” She instructed. Those sharp maroon eyes narrowed as they sized the leafy green plant, with her large pink flower atop her head, with a strange emotion. Not quite angry, and not quite delight. Her tail began to glow with a bright metallic sheen, to which Steelix raised it up high to prepare for her deadly strike.

Chryaisy was much faster than Steelix, nearly by leagues. A powerful blast of green energy slammed into Steelix’s hide, pulling what was left of her energy from her body. Steelix growled loud, then slumped, before collapsing on the ground in front of Jasmine and Alex. “Steelix is unable to battle. Gym Leader Jasmine is out of useable Pokemon. Alex is the winner!” The referee shouted from the sidelines, waving his flags to signal the end of the match. Jasmine recalled her Pokemon and walked over to Alex, holding out a hand to shake his with.

“That was an impressive match. There is much I’ve learned from you and your Pokemon, that I hope will help mine during our training.” She handed him a small badge shaped like a mineral piece, a steel type TM, and some change. “This is my badge and proof you’ve beaten me in battle. It will allow you to use the Hidden Machine move Dive outside of battle. This is the Technical Machine move Iron Tail, a move I was hoping to demonstrate just before your victory strike. Also some funds for beating me in a battle. Thank you for the match today, Alex.” Jasmine spoke, and would politely walk him back to the front doors once he was ready to leave.

Alex was glad Jasmine agreed on the current state of the battle. He watched as the decisive round continued. Jasmine was encouraging her Pokemon some more, and even noted of Chryaisy's Sitrus Berry that she held to keep it equal footing. After the gym leader's call for the next move, the Steelix's tail readily glowed bright as it was readying for a powerful Iron Tail. Thankfully his Lilligant was much faster on her feet, without needing a Quiver Dance to boost or two. Sometimes, the grass type needed it, and some other times she didn't need it.

With a powerful blast of green energy, the mighty and towering steel type had fallen with a loud thud, shaking some dirt and sand in its crash. Jasmine returned her Pokemon and gave Alex compliments at the end of the match. He smiled and replied as he received his victory prizes. "I thank you too for the match! You're definitely one of my harder ones for the book." He paused and looked at the disc for the Iron Tail, wondering if he would even have the right Pokemon for it. "Uh, thank you once again!" He then tucked away his winning items and headed off to the Pokemon Center.
