Vartio had heard of bug types being easy to catch, that it barely took any effort. This however, was convincing him that those rumors were as much a load of crud as Suicune being bipedal. Veluzaur was getting visibly angry as the bug continued to pelt him, but his trainer kept saving the bug every time he tried to bite into that annoying bug.
He would definitely have 'words' with his trainer after all of this!
Vartio meanwhile, in his bewildered state, did the only thing he could do. He realized that the pokemon wasn't doing a huge amount of damage, so he quickly tossed another ball before Veluzaur even attempted to throw out another attack, then quickly ran in and pulled out a potion from his bag and sprayed Veluzaur.
"Hold on a little longer."

Keeping Blipbug thus far======================================================== Vartio watched as the damnedable bug struggle and bug him with all its soul, and despite healing Veluzaur, it barely calmed down as ANOTHER attack hit it. Vartio winced as his Pokeball landed, and with that, the bug struggled no more, the ball dinged as it rested. He let out a sigh of relief, finally this bug was solved. If only all errors could be solved so easily. Picking up the ball he let out a light grin. "Four encounters down, one to go." Looking at Veluzaur, the pokemon was VERY agitated, Vartio couldn't help but wince. "One more, and I'll buy you some market Magikarp. Sorry."Veluzaur let out a growl and snarled, it was losing overall patience with its trainer. An incident was inevitable at this rate. Vartio regardless pulled out another potion and used it on Veluzaur, causing it to shake in agitation from its sore spots aching from the contact with the spray. "We're almost done, let's go."========================================================= One Potion between encounters on Veluzaur. |

Vartio walked through the grass, eventually coming to one last Pokemon in the contest area. He had been stuck in place watching it for what felt like minutes at this point, it was harmlessly just doing stuff all on its own, not bugging anything. It was like encountering a ghost, or winning the lottery.
So why then was Vartio hesitant to actually do anything? Well the lottery here was basically going into debt instead. Vartio had caught a Pokemon that had interested him, and caught it in a form that benefitted him for this contest. So now the question was running through his mind of 'why me'.
The clear and blatant answer was that this Pokemon wasn't normal. It was what was famously referred to as a 'Shiny' Pokemon. A pokemon whose genetic data was slightly askewed resulting in a usually predictable but still abnormal pattern considering the majority of a species.
And Vartio was now experiencing a moral conundrum. He had temporarily recalled Veluzaur right after seeing it, and was weighing his choices. Afterall, this was not a common thing to run into. Well, the Pokemon itself, Volbeat, was. At least to Vartio. They were known to exist near his hometown back in his homeworld.
Vartio wished that one rule didn't exist. He really did. Two Pokemon that interested him would have to slip through his fingers.
"Farfetch'd." Vartio finally spoke. He had decided that this wasn't worth the effort. He turned and headed for the exit to the competition. He couldn't gather up the will to hurt the Pokemon, nor did he have the benefits to catching it. If they only judged by species, then it would be a stark loss in points. It was unique though, researching it would benefit his aura research if he started it up here. He never had a chance to observe a Shiny Pokemon, even in his classes in Cascadia's Universities. But then there was the small issue of it being Volbeat.
Vartio sighed, realizing the futility of this endeavor as he reached the exit, alerting his completion of the event to one of the personnel.
Blipbug would have to do.
