The Guilty [Chimchar Poke-napping]

Thea froze, blood draining from her face to pool in her feet, her face took on a horrified pallor, eyes wide as she sucked in a sharp breath. She would have trembled if she wasn't already running on pure adrenaline. "But...what about," she trailed off as processed his words and the meaning of that red R stitched into the man's jacket. The girl stumbled back a step, arms in front of her defensively, like she expected him to grab of hit her. Thea's stance was decent for self-defense. She was clearly trained. But would it be enough to thwart an attacker twice her size and weight? Likely not unless her code of honor allowed her to somehow fight dirtier than a Rocket that served time in prison. Maybe she could get a lucky shot in—a jab to the nose or throat or groin that allowed her to flee, but if he got her into a grapple, she was done for.

"You...you lied to me about everything," she whispered. "You separated me from Officer Victoria on purpose so you could...could steal my pokemon? To get back at my father? Because he is good at what he does and puts you Rockets in jail?! I... You can't have him! I'll... I'll stop you!" Despite her clear terror, voice trembling, hands quivering a hair, she kept herself upright, her chin tilted with youthful bravado. She had no choice. Her back was against the proverbial wall. It was flee and abandon her pokemon, or stand her ground and take down one of these crooks for good!

"Fideo, use double kick!" she called out when the battle began. The corsola looked like it was pretty weak. Fake out wouldn't do much to a rock type, but surely she could get some distance out of a double kick. Her chimchar readily obeyed, lashing out with both feet before the corsola swung its head around and smashed its coral horns into chimchar's belly.

The girl barely had any fight left in her. She was dazed and stunned, as Caribes hoped she’d be. And why not? Thea spent a long time racing through the forest after voices that sounded spot-on like a Pikachu’s call, with a ‘shape shifting’ gremlin who hid his reflection underneath a doll. Steven landed on the branch in a large oak tree overhanging the battlefield below and tilted his head with a loud shriek, “Piikkaaapppiiii! You idiot! Brraaawwwkk! Like we rehearsed! Brraawwwwkkk!” It was enough to answer any questions on how he pulled it off, at least.

“Actually, your dad’s corruption is starting to catch up to him.” Those almost serpentine-like slits in Caribes’ eyes seemed sinister underneath the bright rays of the summer sun. Caribes moved carefully and deliberately, making their stance wide like an impenetrable wall. Several Pokémon gathered at their side, including the brave Octalus who managed to thwart off the worst of Fideo’s advances, though it was evident that he wouldn’t survive many more rounds. Evil didn’t need the normative conventional standards that most battles had, thankfully.

Caribes turned their attention to the small gremlin with large gems adorning his body and nodded with a gruff. “Gizmo, you’re up. Octalus, keep up the distractions. Graboid, don’t get lazy on me, help out!” The order was a loud bark and one that meant complete compliance. Caribes’ Pokémon nodded their heads and immediately went to work. Graboid ducked underneath the ground and create long trenches that would make for quick pitfalls should either contestant try to escape the battle, with a wide enough net to keep Thea from hoofing it back for help.

Octalus fell back to the sidelines but remained ready to spitz her opponent with thick sprays of water whenever Fideo attempted to wander too far away, or if he thought he could hit Fideo in time enough to keep the other Pokémon from attacking his teammates. “You can’t beat all of us, you know!” Octalus snapped with a wide smile. “It’s a lost cause if you’re all alone. Why don’t you just give up and come with us?” Caribes turned their attention firmly on Thea with a slight tilt of their head. "You see...daddy wasn't out late every night stopping bad guys. Not if the bribe was right." Insert that seed of doubt, dig into her subconscious....

Gizmo’s smile was so wide it looked like it cracked his face. It was hard to tell just what was going on behind the strange gremlin’s mask. He etched slowly closer, a singular hand pointing out towards Fideo as the other two set their trap. “A friend who wants to play?” Gizmo tilted his head sideways at an ungodly angle, his gaze never once leaving Fideo or Thea. “But I’m all out of play time….oh, dearie, me! What ever shall I do?” Gizmo smirked, reaching one hand out with long claws he hoped to hook into Fideo’s fur and rip into. “Aren’t you just tired of whiny know-it-alls telling you how your day is going to go?” Gizmo giggled with delight.

OOC: Switching to Gizmo and using Scratch! The others are "attacking" in fluff, because why would a bad guy follow normal conventions? eh?

"N-no! My daddy is a good man! He isn't corrupt! He would never take bribes or listen to bad guys! He's a good man!" Thea cried out, tears streaking down her face from the stress of it all. Her breath hitched and she was getting light headed. Suddenly, there was movement around her and the man's pokemon turned this patch of forest into an arena. The orthworm dug a trench as the corsola jumped away and started to use water to keep her chimchar in the deepening ring of earth. A chatot mocked her from above as a sableye lunged forward into the ring to bat around her chimchar, "Fideo! U-use ember!" 

Her chimchar stood defensively in front of her and started to spew flames around them, making a smaller, defensive area within the ring of doom. Her heart tried to pound out of her chest. She childishly covered her ears, fatigued and scared and hating herself for being such a fool. She couldn't listen to this awful, lying man.

There was a dangerous sort of pleasure Caribes derived from Thea’s frazzled nature. She trembled before him like a scared kitten backed into a corner with no earthly idea how to use its God-given claws. Caribes smirked, a footstep placed carefully in the ground before them, not really moving forward but gently lunging so to keep their menacing tactics in overdrive. “I should really thank him for the drug bust.” Caribes hummed softly underneath their voice, half-listening to the girl’s whimsical panic.

“Some of our finest men were there that night. You might not remember it…. oh, what? Two weeks ago?” Eyes flickered up thoughtfully, staring past the creatures wreaking havoc on the battlefield to the tear-stained face of the cop-in-training whose delicate features belied her age, making her appear even more adolescent than before. “We came to an understanding and they were able to walk free. No record, no subpoena…. Can you tell him how much we appreciated that? When you see him again, that is?”

The bluff was of a typical nature, preying on a nonspecific timeframe along the same fieldwork that nearly always required late calls. Caribes hummed thoughtfully about as though they were still estimating the timeline, eyes carrying with them a soft sort of twinkle as though memory lane sprung forth from behind their gaze. Was it a crime to only have a rough estimate of some events, or part of the natural human experience? Wouldn’t it seem more absurd to have it pinpointed to an exact date and time, as though cartoonishly Caribes’ leapt out of some age-old bygone movie pertaining to cops and robbers all along?

“Even good men can do bad things.” Caribes chuckled, a quick reminder to Thea of how imperfect the world was and how everyone lived with flaws. Saints whose only flaw was existence itself only existed in fairytales and make-believes. Those that ascribed themselves as such, just haven’t had their demons dug out of their closets, dusted off, and pranced in the streets for the world to see. “Keep it up, Gizmo. We have Fideo right where we want him. And….I think Chase would serve our cause well, too.” Deviousness slipped like venom with every drip of their words.

Gizmo screeched from the impact of the flames slowly eating away at his ethereal flesh. He flipped, rolling through the ground itself, and tumbled about, before rising back on his strange, gangly legs. “Why would my friend do such a mean thing like that?!” The dark purple gremlin with shiny gems adorning his flesh questioned aloud. A long, sharp finger like a small blade pressed against the side of his face. He darted two the left side, then the right side, then back to the left side to try and trick the small monkey and make it difficult for Fideo to keep up.

“It just….makes me so… OOPS!” Gizmo chuckled, sharp claws like razorblades slicing at Fideo from behind, hoping to find their mark along his delicate flesh. It was a rude thing to want to hurt others. Wasn’t that some sort of moral lesson humans spoke to each other in passing and when trying to get others to understand their unique concept called ‘empathy’? Something about treating each other the way you wanted to be treated, and completely forsaking the truly rules laws of the wild itself altogether. “You’re such a good boy.” Gizmo mocked. “Listening faithfully to every syllable your trainer speaks to you. You should be proud!” His laughter clamored to the skies above as he laughed.

"Y-you're lying! You're a criminal and criminals lie all the time!" she was struggling to control her breathing and her stomach roiled as Caribes lunged, putting himself far too close given their rapidly shrinking battlefield. She instinctively took a step back but her shiny new shoe found poor purchase and she nearly topple backwards into the ditch. Thea whimpered, arms flailing as she caught her balance. Fideo looked back at her worried and she tore her attention away from the crook to look down at the little chimchar. He was so worried for her. She...she couldn't fail him by falling apart. "Use ember!"

He nodded and breathed more fire, earning yet another scratch to the face for his efforts.

There was no winning this fight, was there? They were outnumbered. Out matched. She just...needed her daddy. Thea suddenly lurched forward, scooped up her Chimchar and JUMPED across the ditch. Her feet landed on the edge and she felt the ground start to crumble. She sucked in a sharp breath and THREW Fideo away from her, away from that man. "RUN!" She felt herself slipping and floundered, unable to quite stop herself falling, she flung herself forward. Thea's whole body ached when her ribs hit the ground, the impact winding her, but she knew she couldn't just stand there and fall apart. 

(Or maybe she had broken already. Fight or flight...both were responses to danger.)

She tried to push back up to her feet, her lip split, her knees bloodied, "OFFICER VICTORIA! OFFICER VICTORRIIIAAAAAA! HEEEEEELP!"

To her horror, Fideo didn't flee, he scampered up to her, as if to protect her.

"N-no. Run! Just RUN!"

No dice. The young Thea remained adamant about her own father as Caribes worked at cracking her resolve. Some of their words would settle with her unreasonably so, causing Thea’s mentality to slowly simmer away into rags of their once unshaken selves. Caribes smirked, positive that their message managed to cause the sort of harm they slowly dug at from beneath the skin. Though to see it truly to fruition may require time that Caribes simply wouldn’t stick around for.

“I rightly don’t care if you believe the truth or not.” Quick tongued, with no need to double-down and defend. And why would that? Truth always came to light, whilst lies could only fester in the shadows. A hint of their words implies that whatever Thea chose to believe wouldn’t change the course of events that already transpired. “You’re right not to trust everything you hear.” The crocodilian grinned burned into the corners of Caribes’ face as though they were permanently glued there.

“But do you know who else lies? Saints. ‘Good people’. I’m sure you’ve lied before, too.” Caribes’ sharp terracotta hues now seemed alit with a burning fire that couldn’t be stifled too easily. “Or are you here to tell me you’ve never lied? Not even once? Not even when you were young, because you knew your parents might be mad if they found out?” A hint of misdeeds that was all-too-common in childhood. It was a natural course of things, especially in families where dynamics weren’t explored from the perfect ‘gentle parenting’ style to foster perfect honesty.

However, kids that never worried about the consequences of their actions, to at least attempt a small white lie once in their life, were typically nightmares in society, contrary to popular belief. Having consequences made readily clear, and knowing what happens when you try to avoid them only to still be caught, could truly round out a person’s soul. Thea scooped her little ape up in her arms and high-tailed it, only to fall flat not too far away. Caribes growled angrily underneath their breath, having pulled out a small spray bottle that Gizmo immediately snatched out of their hands and drenched himself with.

“I didn’t tell you this was yours!” Powerful confrontation until their attention shifted once more to the fleeing child and her stubborn primate who refused to book it through the tangle of forest about them as a means to save himself. Thankfully, the target wasn’t getting away so easily… Now to deal with the child. “Graboid, you fool! You’ve let them escape! Octalus, hurry up! We can’t waste all day!”

Gizmo hopped over the barriers of their makeshift ring with a slight grumble. “I’m no fool. I’m not going to stand around and let those embers take me out.” Then his lips curled back into his strange Cheshire cat grin. Gizmo gave chase as Graboid leaped out from underneath the ground, thick tail thumping ominously near Thea and her furry companion whose ‘tail’ was nothing but one large, never-ending flame. “Oh, come now. We don’t want you leaving this soon. Where’s the fun in that?!” Graboid spoke softly, gently, as though to try and ‘shh’ Fideo into compliance. “They fun was just getting started! Wouldn’t you agree?”

Caribes eventually made their way around, face blistering red from the effort. This was one of those missions that really crawled underneath their skin! “You want to play hardball? We can play hardball!” He pulled out a long section of twine and some tape whose dark grey complexion only warned Thea of one thing, if she was smart enough to take the hint. “Now, you remain in place until I’ve made off with your precious Fideo. You understand me, little missy?! And I won’t have to get nasty! I’ve been kind. I’ve been patient. But I am still human! GIZMO, I SWEAR IF YOU DON’T HURRY UP AND TAKE THAT MONKEY OUT!”

On cue, the mischievous gremlin jumped after his opponent. “Don’t take this personally, ok? I like you, you know. It’s been fun.” Razor sharp claws slashed through grass and twig alike as they aimed to find purchase on the soft flesh of the fire-type primate in their hurry to move the battle along. “But my trainer seems like they’re on their last nerve. And I don’t want to be the one that take it out on! Feel me?” Gizmo chuckled deviously.

Thea struggled up to her hands and knees, her throat tight and her chest rapidly rising and falling with every panicked breath. She whipped her head around at Caribes and spooked at the sight of his furious, reddened face. He had gone from so kindly and sweet, to murderous and frightening. What would he do to her if she didn't comply?! What would he do if she did. She struggled to her feet as the scary pokemon closed in around them once more. Fideo stood his ground, protecting them with more embers, covering the ground in a wall of flame that seared that creepy Sableye as it inched closer. 

"OFFICER VICTORIA!" she called out again, her voice cracking. Thea started to cough, hands instinctively darting to cover her mouth. Her palms were damp and dirty. Her throat ached from yelling. Help wasn't coming...was it? "Fideo...I know...you want to protect me but you have to run..."

The chimchar shook his head.

He would stay by her side until the bitter end.

Tears crept down her cheeks.

A paw pushed at her knee. 

Thea looked down to see Fideo urging her to flee, eyes focused not on Gizmo, but on the scary old man that was threatening them. He wanted HER to run instead. Her mouth went dry. She...she couldn't just abandon him.

Caribes’ chest swelled with a whirlwind of emotions, each chasing and biting at each other for dominance within their chest. Rich reddish-yellow hues like apricots fixed in a sea of white spiraled in their sockets, locking their gaze firmly on the furry orange primate. Flames spun around Thea, creating a rift between Caribes and their target as they singed Gizmo’s ethereal flesh. He leaped back, arms flailing about, his voice screaming from the initial shock as pain wracked his entire being.

“You’re not the brightest one on the force, are you?” The devilish grin spurned on their face, pulling itself taut so that their pearly whites flashed briefly as Caribes’ lips slightly parted. They remained the captor, entrapping Thea and Fideo to the scene to ensure an eventual and successful collection for their organization’s purpose. Yet she screamed, lamenting her woes and pleading beyond all hope that the senior who usually flanked her from the sidelines might yet appear, no matter how brief the occasion.

They weren’t returning back to the hellhole they escaped from. Memories flickered behind those steely eyes, carrying Caribes back to the endless days where they trudged along behind other cellmates whose outfits bore the same familiar stripes, with chains bound upon their hands and feet in an almost cartoonish manner. They fought and scraped their way through the heap, proving through tongue and deed they would remain a fierce contender to all who opposed Caribes and stood in their way.

She was a sweet summer child, lost to the true ways of hardship and pain, lacking in her simpleness the cultural understanding of what it meant to truly be cutthroat. This could be her origin story, spurring the young child into action as Caribes might manage unlock a core memory to remain tethered to the very fiber and sense of who she was. “If you keep screaming like that, I’m going to have to shut your mouth up for good.” The words were cold, calculating, with toxic hints that oozed thousands of possibilities yet promised none.

“You know…” Gizmo huffed, patting himself where the last of Fideo’s embers still etched faint reminders against his flesh. “You’re really starting to bug me. And when I’m bugged, I like to get some bug spray.” Was Fideo just stupid or incompetent that he only spun the same maneuvers on an endless loop, hoping against the odds that one of his attempts would latch on to bury its insidious roots deep underneath Gizmo’s flesh? “And here I thought we would become close friends!” He puffed, clawed hands folded on his hips.

“Gizmo, shut your yammering and seal the deal.” Caribes turned, the fury of his hurricane slamming against the shorelines of Gizmo’s psyche. They melded with each other in the brief space left in between, before separating with their own cultural understanding of what the other wished to convey. Gizmo’s concerns, however, would fall on deaf ears. “I’m not even yammering, you old fart!” He growled, spinning on the tips of his clawed feet, and raced off through the fire-ladened grass in a headlong gait towards his opponent.

Caribes’ smirk burned with a sinister delight, matching the flames that ate away at the world around them. “Your father would be so proud of your performance! Bravo, Miss Kensington, absolutely marvelous!” They jeered cruelly. Gizmo raised his sharp claws up once more and swung them through the air, hoping to find their purchase buried within Fideo’s side. “This is for all the loving flame licks you’ve given me!” Gizmo laughed manically with a strange wink.

Thea whimpered. This man was getting even scarier by the second. Fideo hurled himself in the way of danger, his flames seemingly growing bigger and hotter as he continued to scatter them. The fire so was so intense now that Thea could feel its heat against her skin from a distance, and that sableye just leapt through it...and was burned. She could see it. The scorch mark on its spectral form. The following strike was glancing compared to the last few. Her eyes were bright with a sudden surge of hope but...Fideo just smacked her knee again.

He glared at her. 

Get out of here, his gaze pleaded.

Because even if they win the battle, what would be the result of the war? A weakened chimchar would not be able to protect her from the scary old man if he got physically violent. She took a hesitant step back. Fideo pushed again. He nodded, reassuring. 

"...I'm sorry," she whispered, voice cracking. Fideo smiled at her. 

"Chim-char," he soothed. 

Thea sniffled and then with choked back tears, she turned from the scary man and...she finally started to flee.

Caribes’ eyes burned fiercely on their target, locked on Thea to ensure that she wouldn’t escape too easily. Had their boss not been so insistent that this was only a scare mission meant to send a clear, firm message to the police force, they might have looked at some extra charges as they dragged the frail child back to headquarters with them personally. It was an irrational idea, and one that even Caribes wouldn’t tolerate in reality. It came with it a certain level of risk that simply wasn’t in the best interest for any involved.

“Gizmo, look at your sorry self. I really don’t know what I’m going to do with you. Can you even eat a ghost?” Caribes grumbled underneath their own breath, rich eyes of golden-brown hues flickering nervously about. It cost them the much-needed victory Caribes was positive they could score with enough determination and diligence towards their goal. “Maybe I can steam you into a tea somehow.” Caribes finally settled.

They whistled and snapped their fingers. A firm command. Gizmo’s head hung low as he crawled over to Caribes’ side and plopped down with a loud huff. He crossed his arms firmly over his chest and began patting the burns away. When Caribes turned to the large worm who’d busily set up their little arena trap, Gizmo turned to Caribes’ bag. Eagerly, he pulled out a small burn heal and gobbled the potion up with ease, satisfied to wash the liquids down the back of his throat.

“Graboid, I need you to get ahold of that wily ape and you better not let go!” Caribes pressed two wrinkled fingers against their forehead and took in a deep, slow breath, steadying themselves carefully. She was only one girl. A weak and pathetic girl, whose gullibility was perfect for the trap they’d set. They needn’t let her get them this worked up. They just needed steady the course, make sure that ape fell to their might, and quickly snatch it up as a prize for their boss.

This was something they could do. It was something that they used to do often, back in their prime. “While we’re at it, let me tell you something, sweetie. Your little fire chimp has the capability to evolve. Evolution does something to the minds of Pokémon. They just ain’t the same after it. My best friend was an Anorith, and an Armaldo took someone very near and dear to me away. You’re better off without your precious Fideo, anyways.” They laughed, cold and cruel.

Grabiod popped up above ground with a wide grin. “Oh, hello there! Why does no one look happy? You don’t have to be upset at what’s going on, you know.” He spoke in an upbeat and cheerful tone. The large red earthworm was hoping to get Fideo to drop his guard at least a little bit. “You control how you react to the things around you, after all. "S-shut up! SHUT UP! You're a big, mean, liar! You're a liar! My daddy is a good man and Fideo would never hurt me!" Thea cried out as she started to run, fighting through the tangles of branches and underbrush between her and Officer Victoria. She couldn't turn back for Chase, for which she was very sorry. But she had to keep running. She had to keep moving. Escape, escape, escape. "I'M SORRY FIDEO! I'M SORRY!" It hurt. Her chest felt like someone had taken a knife and plunged it in deep. She couldn't allow herself to believe this man or she would lose herself to despair. 

Frantically, she pushed towards freedom, trying to ignore everything behind her, including the foul, cold words of the Rocket that attacked her and her pokemon. She ignored the way her lungs burned and the cuts on her knees bled. She had to flee, for Fideo's sake. He was sacrificing himself for her to get away and it HURT.

The chimchar stood his ground, brave-faced even as Caribes' Gizmo healed its burn and the Orthworm took a stance between him and freedom. He bared his teeth and curled his fists, spewing more fire in an attempt at thwarting his foe. He could hold his own for Thea. He could take down whole armies if he must. The fire in him burned hotter than ever before. It BLAZED within him like an inferno.

For Thea.

He would wage WAR.

Thea screamed, allowing her womanly emotions to overtake her form. She was young and impressionable, possibly trapped in the awkward stage of hormonal mood swings and developmental strangeness as her body worked its way towards true adulthood. They didn’t fault her for reacting the way she did. In fact, Thea played into Caribes’ hands nearly perfectly, even if a few things went awry along the way. They needed to focus on collecting Fideo, and instead kept their gaze locked firmly on the little chimp whose fire burned with a ferocious passion from its chest.

“No one is a saint, sweetheart. The sooner you learn this lesson in life, the sooner you realized we’re all flawed. We all end up doing some messed up things.” A cold cackle escaped their lips. The words were dark and deep, something that sneaked from the inner pits of Caribes’ thoughts and mind. They were so close to the prize now. All they needed to do was beat Fideo until it could no longer struggle to fight back. Collect the Pokémon – along with the pup they’d already managed to separate from its officer – and return them battered and bruised to their headquarters. Alive, but beaten nonetheless. “There ain’t never gunna be a soul alive whose got a squeaky-clean record.”

Thea sprung forward and raced through the tangle over overgrown vegetation, causing Caribes to glare. They couldn’t take her as a hostage for extra measure now. It was a fleeting idea that might have blown up in Caribes’ face anyways, so it wasn’t like they’d considered it too seriously along the way. But it would have been the perfect icing on the cake to prove to this young, idealistic child why she was striving to be “great” in the wrong profession altogether. The police were all lazy, incompetent, fools. And many were easy to bribe if the price was right – which only proved they weren’t appropriately compensated no matter how “well” they were paid. Something the rocket organization did right. Take what you want, get a nice fat cut, but only if you worked your tail off for it first.

“Well, let’s finish this up. Graboid, beat that thing until it passes out. Then I’m snatching both up and carrying them back. BEFORE they get ahold of the other cop and a whole swat team is sent out here.” Graboid nodded. Gizmo, however, was still searching around in Caribes’ items until he located a small purple spray bottle. What was this? As Gizmo squeezed the handle, it sprayed a strange, healing liquid all over his face, causing the strange little gremlin to cough and gag. Uck, what was that?! Graboid only nodded, swinging his body after Fideo, hoping to knock him out with one strong swipe.


OOC: Using (1) Potion on Gizmo (should be 25/28 now!) and then having Graboid use Tackle (assuming he's still alive). Not self-updated so mod can confirm only one.

Fideo panted, his eyes wild, his internal flame BURNING. He let out what could only be described as a WAR CRY. He was manic with a desperate desire to protect his trainer. Thea. His human. His duty was to protect her at all costs and he would do so graciously. He bared his teeth and growled at Graboid, hands curled into little fists as he did the one thing he could do—breathe fire. He breathed flames so bright and hot that they were verging on white. He seared the earth and the trees to try to put a wall between himself and the enemy—between Thea and that creep. Run, he willed his trainer, run and get help. He would hold down things here. He would be a distraction.

However, it was ultimately for naught.

The orthworm broke through the flames and slammed into Fideo, knocking the chimchar back and onto the earthen ground. He smacked his head against a tree root and found himself helplessly stunned. Stars flew around his vision. He pawed at his foe. He...he could keep...fighting...

Except, he couldn't. As he slipped into unconsciousness, he could still hear Thea screaming for help.

Caribes smirked. While the battle hadn’t been easy, the obstacles they set up for Thea and Victoria played right into their trap. Most of their Pokemon performed well, maintaining the line of service that Caribes expected out of the loyalist few they kept within their ranks. They turned, a quick stroll over to Graboid and their pathetic Gizmo, eyes holding a strange, almost reptilian nature to their stare. “Good work.”

The praise was spread generously onto Graboid, who perked up. Caribes reached out, almost uncharismatic of themselves, and patted the strange looking earthworm on the top of his head. Graboid shied away at first, fully expectant of only harsh things to come from their trainer’s hands, then relaxed and warmed up to the embrace. He did good. He managed to defeat the mean little monkey and made his trainer proud. Caribes turned, a scornful look cast down on Gizmo with angry eyes that glared.

“You need a lot of work.” They huffed angrily. What were they going to do with a useless lump of ghostly mass? The threat of a stew still sounded promising, though Caribes assumed it needed to be more like a brew – as though they were making tea or coffee, instead. “Think you can prove yourself to me next time? I don’t want failures on my team. Understand?” Gizmo shied away a bit, his form shaking a little as he reeled back from his trainer.

After the quick conversation with their two Pokemon, Caribes snatched up Fideo and for good measure, rushed over to yoink the fainted canine, Chase, up as well. Neither officers should need their pups. In Thea’s haste, it seemed as though she forgot to save anyone other than herself. This was perfect news for someone as devilishly cruel and sinister as Caribes. They pulled out their phone, giving a quick radio in to base, and immediately high-tailed it out of their with airlift back to Headquarters. Both prizes – if nothing else – should make their admin an ecstatic guy to work with.

“As promised…” Caribes stated gruffly, after traversing the long hallways back into the main office where they’d always met their admin at. They placed both Poke Balls containing the forcibly re-captured Pokemon on the rich, wooden desk with a wide smile. “Fideo, that cop’s daughter’s Chimchar…” Then the smirk grew darker, even more sinister with an extra stretch across the lips. “And this here is her accomplice’s Lillipup, who they kept calling ‘Chase’. He gave up the chase pretty easily, though, I’ll tell you that.” Caribes laughed, a short and sweet sound.

Caribes would return to base with two pokemon and news of a job well done. The admin would look over the case and then smirk at Caribes, offering a handshake to the man once the pokeballs were revealed. "Well done. You have...proven yourself. You may very well yet do well here." Clearly this one didn't know him or his reputation from the Before times. His pearly smile gleamed as he looked up at Caribes. "I admire the initiative you took in stealing not only the target but the companion pokemon of another IPF officer. Already rumors are pouring in of the girl's theatrics and how it is effecting her father's reputation. I am certain that soon, he will have to step out of the spotlight for some family time. And when that happens? We can take advantage of the void of power and strike." He laughed.

Then, he settled back in his chair.

"Congratulation's Grunt. This is for you. Spend it wisely."

Caribes would be gifted a slowpoke tail for his troubles to go along with that standard issue black-and-red Rocket uniform.
