Heavy rain and thunder may have continued to fall down from the sky all around her, but Clem was on top of the world, singing and dancing her way down the streets of Cherrygrove City in her brand-new Running Shoes. And trailing behind her was Riolu, who had grabbed a large leaf and was now using it as a makeshift umbrella. Needless to say, the Emanation Pokemon's current emotional state was the exact opposite of her trainer's at this time. "Oh, Riolu! It's it such a wonderful time to be alive?!" In between the lyrics of her song, Clementine questioned her youngest Pokemon companion in a blissful and happy tone of voice. However, Riolu honestly couldn't tell if Clem was joking or not. Even with her ability to sense aura.
Before giving her trainer a retort, Riolu just looked at her undead trainer with a mixture of exasperation and astonishment all over her blue, furry face. Not only was the weather on this day just downright terrible, but Clem wasn't technically ALIVE at all. "Uhhh...I'm not even sure how to respond to that." Clementine couldn't help giggling at Riolu's response, but not even her carefree attitude was capable of shielding her from what happened next. The sounds of the rain and thunder may have drowned out the cries of someone in need, but fortunately for the distressed person, both Clem and Riolu's aura senses were as sharp as ever. Like a flash of lightning, Clem lost her smile, as both her and Riolu's eyes grew wide, and they both turned their heads towards the forest that lay beside Cherrygrove City, picking up on the aura of someone in danger nearby.
"Someone's in trouble! C'mon, Riolu! What are we just standing around here for anyway?!" And just like that, Clem took off running into the trees, heading straight for the distressed aura she saw in her right eyes. "Urgh! You tell me, you damn zombie!" Riolu got in one more smart remark before running after her Galarian trainer, using her Quick Attack to easily keep up with her longer legs. It only took the Fighting type pair a few minutes to cross paths with the fleeing youngster, but the Pokemon that were chasing him were definitely not what they were expecting at all. "Huh?! What in the heck are a pack of Houndours doing out in this weather?!" Clementine was quick to question the presence of three Fire type Pokemon of all things but could still tell that all three of them were incredibly angry for three very different reasons, thanks to her right eye yet again.
"I think you mean, what in the heck are WE doing out in this weather?! I don't know, and I don't care! You're the one who wanted to help this kid, so hurry up and get some back up out here, would ya?!" Given how urgent the situation was, neither Clem nor Riolu had the time necessary to determine why the three Dark Pokemon were so angry and try to calm them down. So, while glaring up at her trainer, Riolu got herself ready to battle and called for some fellow Fighting type teammates to aid her as well. "Oh, right! Three-on-three battle! Got it, Riolu! Let's go with these two then! Hawlucha, Clobbopus, I choose you!" At Riolu's command, Clem grabbed two more Pokeballs from her bag as fast as she could, tossing them out in between the lone youngster and the pack of angry Houndours.
The two red and white orbs burst open like another flash of lightning, and Riolu wasted no time in running out to join them on the soaked battlefield. "Okay, listen up, you two! Our undead trainer wants to help this kid, so look sharp! Good news, we have the clear advantage here!" The small blue puppy informed her teammates, and she was absolutely right. Not only were Dark type moves not very effective against Fighting types, but the harsh rainfall would also severely weaken any and all Fire type moves that came their way too. Of course, none of that actually mattered to Hawlucha. All he needed to hear was that they were helping someone in need. And thus, he immediately struck his heroic poses, making proud declarations for all to hear. "Fear not, small child! The great and mighty hero of justice, Hawlucha is here! You're safe now! Just leave these villains to me and my sidekicks!"
"We're not your sidekicks. Get over yourself." Riolu bluntly stated to Hawlucha in an annoyed tone of voice, her eyes glazed and half open while doing so, and her right paw on her right hip. "Hey! How come you guys haven't called on me sooner?! I would love to help you out! But you ignore me, meanies!" Clobbopus suddenly cut in, making her displeasure known to all, then pouting in place where she stood. Unfortunately, there was no time to address any of those complaints, as the Houndour pack was practically on top of them by that point. "I know, and I'm very sorry about that, Clobbopus, but we've got more important things to worry about right now! So please, use Rock Smash on the Houndour on the left! Hawlucha, you use Drain Punch on the middle Houndour! And Riolu, use Dig on the one on the right!" Having heard their trainer's commands, all three Fighting types put their game faces on and carried out their orders with no further questions, concerns, or complaints.
OOC: Quick reminder, Clem's Clobbopus already knows Taunt. So, should Clem and her Pokemon win this battle, and Clobbopus stays standing by the end, she should evolve into Grapploct right then and there.

As soon as the Houndour laid eyes on the three Pokemon across from them they knew this would be no walk in the park. None of the Pokemon were ones typically seen in the area and Riolu was exceptionally rare almost anywhere. Despite this the Houndour were determined to still cause trouble or they were at least until Hawlucha leaped into action before any of them could take a single step forward as the luchador Pokemon punched Havoc right between the eyes with a drain punch knocking him our cold before he could get a single attack off. Having their friend get so soundly defeated did not sit well with the remaining two Houndour as they quickly set out to get revenge. Almost simultaneously Helena and Abyss struck the Pokemon across from them with their Ember attack hoping it would be enough to even the playing field and though the attacks did decent damage neither of their targets was knocked out and they dreaded what would happen next. First up Riolu dug a hole and jumped underground as she slowly made her way towards Abyss, it would take a bit to reach the Houndour but it would not be able to strike her with Ember again until she popped out. Finally Clobbopus managed to unleash a Rock Smash on Helena. The attack caused a ton of damage but luckily for her she did not have her defense lowered by the strike though that mattered little given how much damage the attack had already done. Meanwhile Jimmy cautiously grew optimistic as he saw Clementine's Pokemon had gained a huge upper hand. He did not speak or move however as he did not want to attract further attention from the hellhounds less he further become a victim to their antics. Wild Encounter

Clem continued to smile brightly at the progress of this battle so far, very proud of her Pokemon and how far they had come since their journey began. At this rate, they'd have this triple battle all wrapped up in one, maybe two more rounds' tops. Of course, as her Pokemon fought, Clem couldn't stop herself from using her aura-sensing powers to peer into the emotions of the three Houndours, hoping to see the reason for their aggression. The Fighting type trainer didn't have to look for long, but then let out a small gasp, rather surprised by what she saw. "Oh my. How very troubling." Clem said to herself, seeing that these three Dark Pokemon were angry for three very different reasons.
Sadly, there was no time to try and reconcile with the three angry canines, especially after Hawlucha effortlessly knocked one of them unconscious. So, instead, Clementine turned her attention towards Jimmy, offering him a warm smile and some comforting words. And naturally, she used her aura-sensing powers on him too, able to learn his name before he even introduced himself to her. "Don't worry, Jimmy. My friends won't let us down. Just keep watching. You'll see." Having already dealt with his opponent, Hawlucha had the opportunity to overhear his trainer's words, then immediately struck several more heroic poses and spoke to the younger trainer as well.
"Yes, indeed! Do not look away, young Jimmy! For once you witness the heroics of the great hero, Hawlucha, you shall never know fear again!" At the moment, Riolu was underground, so she didn't hear any of what was said. But Clobbopus sure did, glancing at Hawlucha, sweatdropping, and reminding him of a rather cruel and obvious reality. "Uhhh...You do know that he can't understand us, right? Our trainer is a rare exception when it comes to humans. Not the rule. Also, isn't there some saying about not counting your Torchics before they hatch or something? Still, these three mutts are pretty weak, so I guess it's not that big of a deal."
The Tantrum Pokemon had absolutely no problem insulting the Houndour trio right in front of them, doing so in a casual tone of voice at that. And with that, it was time for the team of Fighting types to refocus themselves on the battle at hand. "In any case, let's keep this battle going, you two! Riolu is all set to strike with her Dig attack, and I'd like you two to please repeat your actions from the previous round! Hawlucha, use Drain Punch on the right Houndour! And Clobbopus, use Rock Smash on the left one again!" Clem turned her gaze back towards the battle, gave her beloved Pokemon their orders, then watched as they carried them out without complaint. Hawlucha rushed towards Abyss with his fist clenched tightly, Clobbopus moved her little tentacles towards Helena with her right fist raised, and Riolu remained underground and waited for her moment to strike from below.

Victory for Clem's band of fighting types proved swift. Hawlucha punched his way to victory over another of the houndour, proving to be quite the MVP of this encounter, as clobberpus took another ember. Before hawlucha could come to his companion's rescue from that fire spewing creature, clobberpus lashed out with a tentacle and smashed the last houndour into the dirt right as Riolou emerged from the ground, popping up in time to see the battle end. Victory was a brief sort of sensation to savor, as the injured houndour all picked themselves up and fled, limping as they retreated—at first together, before suddenly seeming to scatter in different directions. Clem could pursue the matter and try to figure out why the pack was here and harassing innocent kids, or she could just...let things be. After all, this technically wasn't her job to handle unless she made it that way. Jimmy ran up to her when the houndour fled, baby pokemon at his feet. They were curious and tiny and adorable little things. "Thank you so much for you help! I've never seen someone take on three pokemon like that before! It was so cool...and scary, but also so cool! You're cool. And strong and..." he flushed a bit at his own nervous awkwardness. "and thank you. Really. You saved me. I wish I could have been that strong, but none of my pokemon could really handle even one of those houndour on their own." He knelt to pat the little babies. "Um. I had an idea. I know it's a big ask, but, would you mind maybe taking one of them with you? Help them get big and strong too?" His eyes were big and hopeful. "Oh, and...even if you say no... Take this." He took her hand and laid a small bell in her palm. "Pokemon like listening to its jingle. It makes them calmer and happier!"

"Yeah, that's right! You better run! If I ever see any of you again, I'll break every part of your faces!" Clobbopus yelled at the Houndour trio as they fled, shaking her right fist in the air at the same time, as she and her fellow Fighting types had mixed reactions to their victory. "And once again, the day is saved! Thanks to the great and mighty hero of justice, Hawlucha! And his two sidekicks, Riolu and Clobbopus!" Hawlucha proudly remarked, striking even more heroic poses at the same time, but was suddenly interrupted when Riolu walked over to him and kicked him right in his left shin, causing him to wince. "Once again, we are not your sidekicks. Save this hero banter for someone who actually understands you and cares enough to listen." Riolu stated to the Wrestling Pokemon in an annoyed tone of voice, frustrated that she didn't get to do anything during this battle, but was still pleased to have won, regardless.
However, Clem didn't look very pleased, watching the three Houndour as they limped away, still able to see their respective problems in their aura clear as day. Given Clem's kind and compassionate nature, it was rather difficult for her to feel happy when those around her weren't. Even if they happen to be her enemies. Luckily for her, something truly wonderful suddenly occurred, instantly gaining everyone's attention. Suddenly, Clobbopus started glowing, much to the shock of her trainer and teammates, as well as her own. "Woah! What's this weird light?! It's got me! Does anyone else feel this?! I don't know if I like it! Could someone please make it stop?!" The Tantrum Pokemon frantically looked to her friends for aid, as the glow continued to get brighter and brighter, enveloping her entire body in seconds.
Of course, none of them lent a hand, paw, or claw to her, knowing full well that they didn't need to, as Riolu folded her paws and looked on with envy. "Hmph! How come she gets hers first?" On the other hand, Clem and Hawlucha smiled, very happy for Clobbopus. Or rather, Grapploct. The small Fighting type's body continued to glow for a few more seconds, changing into a bigger and stronger form. When the light finally faded away, a brand-new Fighting type stood before them. "Wow...I don't know what just happened, but it felt great. How come everything looks smaller now though?" Grapploct commented on her surroundings, still coming to grips with her new and improved appearance.
The Jujitsu Pokemon didn't get much time to ponder this though, as Clem suddenly rushed over to her, and pulled her into a tight hug, not even the slightest bit bothered by all of said Pokemon's tentacles. "Silly Pokemon. You just evolved into Grapploct. This is so great, and I'm so proud of you." The Galarian trainer then gave Grapploct a small kiss on the cheek, and although Grapploct still didn't fully understand what was going on, she still smiled and returned her trainer's hug, more than happy to receive such treatment. And Clem didn't stop there. To keep things fair, she also gave a hug and a kiss to Hawlucha, who happily accepted. However, Riolu quickly stuck out her paw, pushing Clem away. "I'm gonna stop you right there. Really not in the mood to get a kiss from a zombie today. Or ever."
In spite of this reaction, Clementine still giggled at Riolu, respecting her decision and backing off. Afterward, she finally turned her attention over to Jimmy, smiling down at him as he thanked her for her help. "Awww, aren't you sweet? Think nothing of it, Jimmy. My Pokemon and I are always more than happy to lend a helping hand to those who need it." From there, Clem listened to Jimmy's request, and watched as he offered her a Soothe Bell. But before Clem could respond or accept the bell, Riolu suddenly made use of her Quick Attack and snatched it right out of Jimmy's hand. "I'll take that! Thank you!" Clem couldn't help giggling some more at this, then turned her attention back towards Jimmy and gave him another smile and a nod. "I'd love to take one of your little cutie pies along with me, Jimmy. My Pokemon used to be fresh out of their eggs too, ya know. In fact, Riolu is the youngest member of our team."
As Clem explained all of this to Jimmy, Riolu glanced at her, narrowing her eyes into a glare and grumbling a bit. Then, about a minute later, Clem decided to take Jimmy's Azurill along with her, sending the Polka Dot Pokemon over to her PC and assuring Jimmy that she'd take good care of it. After that, Clem called both Hawlucha and Grapploct back to their respective Pokeballs, said her goodbyes to Jimmy, then turned right around with Riolu and began to follow the path of the left Houndour. "We're going to help those stupid, angry mutts now, aren't we?" Riolu questioned Clem in an annoyed and knowing tone, and Clem just nodded her head as the two walked side by side like always. "Oh, you know me so well, Riolu. It'll be fun. You'll see."
There wasn't a single hint of doubt in Clem's voice, while Riolu just sighed heavily and brought her right paw to her face for a moment. "Urgh...Just shut up and gimme something to drink, would ya?" The Emanation Pokemon's request was met with happy compliance, as Clem withdrew a carton of Eggnog from her bag, gave it to Riolu, and watched with yet another smile as Riolu eagerly chugged it down. All the while, the two continued to hike down the left path, wondering just who or what they'd find next on their journey. And once the Eggnog carton was empty, Riolu crushed it on top of her head like a soda can and tossed it into some nearby bushes. But for some strange reason, she actually felt a little bit happier after drinking the holiday-themed beverage.
OOC: Clem has chosen to continue this quest and take the path on the left first. Also, I'll have all three of Clem's Pokemon learn their new moves, having Grapploct forget Taunt, Hawlucha forget Wing Attack, and Riolu forget Feint. I'll also give the Soothe Bell to Riolu to hold onto and use the Eggnog in Clem's bag to restore 15 HP to Riolu and give her +1 more happiness. I'll take care of all that stuff with my Technician powers. The only thing I need the mods to do is send the Azurill that Clem got from Jimmy over to Clem's PC. Thanks so much.

Jimmy smiled gratefully at Clem and ushered the azurill over to her, handing over the ball. It was a little bittersweet watching the baby pokemon vanish. They would have a much better chance growing stronger with someone like Clem, but taking care of them as they were, all small and adorable, left an impression on the heart. He knelt to pat his other two pokemon, "I trust you'll take care of azurill and help them grow strong. Thank you. Especially since you have experience raising baby pokemon like riolou...even if they seem a little grumpy. Hopefully that soothe bell with improve their disposition!" A chuckle. He waved as Clem turned to follow the houndour. Upon reaching where the paths split, Clem took the leftmost option, trailing after those pawprints for a ways until she reached a major wild pokemon thoroughfare. Crisscrossing in the dirt were easily a dozen different shaped tracks. If Clem wanted to continue this chase, she'd need to find the houndour tracks again and follow those. Otherwise, she might just end up at a dead end!

Clem couldn't stop herself from giggling some more once she heard Jimmy's final comment, turning around to glance at him as she and Riolu continued to walk away. "We can only hope." The Fighting type trainer spoke, then giggled some more, turning back towards the path ahead of her afterward. At the same time, Riolu glanced at her trainer again and grumbled some more, tying the Soothe Bell around her right wrist as she did. "Yeah, that's right. Keep hoping." Riolu spoke in an annoyed and mildly threatening tone of voice, able to hear everything that both Clem and Jimmy said about her in the last five minutes. Suffice it to say, the Emanation Pokemon was none too pleased with what she heard.
But then the bell around her wrist gave a little jingle as she strode, and straight away, Riolu's mood and facial expression began to soften. Slowly but surely. And given her ability to sense aura, Clem took notice of Riolu's mood shift right away, but said nothing more. The Galarian trainer only smiled down at her young Pokemon, happy to see that the Soothe Bell was already doing a fine job. But as nice as this moment was, Clem and her team's work wasn't quite done here just yet. And given how much faster the three Houndour were than them on their feet, it wasn't long before Clem and Riolu lost their aura trails through the bushes and trees. Therefore, they'd have to go back to the old-fashioned ways of tracking Pokemon in nature.
And so, the search for footprints, broken branches, and maybe a few burn marks was on. At first, neither Clem nor Riolu thought that this was going to be a problem. That is, until they came upon a huge assortment of different Pokemon tracks all over the ground before them. "...You've got to be kidding me." Was all Riolu had to say on the matter, almost not believing just how many different species of Pokemon were living in this one area of Johto alone. And so close to the beginning no less. Hoping that her aura-sensing powers would come in handy again, Clem narrowed her eyes as she scanned the footprints one at a time, hoping to find some residual traces of one of the Houndour's aura.
Fortunately, the great god, Arceus, had not forsaken them just yet. It was faint, but Clem did indeed see a few traces of one of the Houndour's aura coming from one of the sets of footprints she saw. As soon as she did, the silver-haired trainer smiled, calling Riolu over to her right away. "Riolu! I found it! One of the Houndours went this way! C'mon!" Without even waiting for Riolu, Clem's excitement got the better of her, and she was off and running, following the footprints she discovered as fast as her undead legs could carry her. "Hey! Don't just run off on your own! Urgh! Damn zombie! Wait up!" Riolu glared and yelled at her trainer, then sighed hard in frustration, and quickly followed after her with her Quick Attack.

So many footprints. So many paths.
But fortunately, the path that was chosen was the correct one!
The steps lead away from town proper into the wilderness right outside the cheery subdivision that so many people called home. After a while, the prints became more defined as the dirt became softer and the greenery brighter. It was a humid summer day—hot with just a bit of a breeze. Trekking along in it wasn't all that bad at least. Especially when they ended up entering a more shady area with a thicker canopy that only let a few dappled puddles of light through to the grass below. Such a sweet, sleepy scene. One could hear the chatots chittering away above, whispering echos of what was said before. A mareep grazed on a bush, nibbling on berries that were finally ripened and ready to eat. And a few bidoof clustered together with branches in their mouths, all dutifully bustling their way towards their dam home in a nearby river.
Distantly, Clem would be able to hear water.
Though what was instantly more pressing was the sound of whimpers.
The tracks led right to that heart wrenching noise.
There, in a cage with three tiny pups, was one of the female houndour. She was huddled over them in the cramped trap, as if she had returned to her nest to find her pups in the cage and followed them in, desperate to retrieve them, only to get caught herself.

Not wanting to lose sight of the footprints she had worked so hard to find, Clem kept her head down and continued to stare at the footprints as she hiked through the forest. Unfortunately, this led to a very uncomfortable encounter with a lower tree branch. Since she was only looking at the ground, Clem ended up walking straight into said tree branch, hitting her head on it, wincing hard, then falling back and landing on her behind. "Owie...That didn't feel good. Not at all." The dark-skinned trainer said to herself, bringing her right arm up to gently rub the part of her head that connected with the low-hanging piece of wood. "Well, maybe you should pay more attention to your surroundings. Stupid, braindead, absent-minded zombie." Riolu commented in an annoyed and insulting tone of voice, walking right passed her trainer without even a small hint of concern or sympathy.
Luckily, even this series of events wasn't enough to keep the undead trainer from Galar down, as she quickly got back on her feet and gained a bright new smile upon her face. "Got it! Thanks for the advice, Riolu!" Clem then went back to tracking the Houndour footprints, humming an upbeat tune at the same time, but also made sure to heed Riolu's words and watch for any further obstructions on the path ahead of her. Yet again, another exasperated sigh left Riolu's lips, as she stuck close to her trainer and decided to act as an extra set of eyes for her. Not long after that, Clem and Riolu arrived in a very beautiful patch of scenery, and Clem gasped right away, looking around and admiring it all with sparkles in her eyes. "Oh wow! This place is so lovely! Isn't it, Riolu?! I can definitely see why one of those Houndours would choose to live here!"
Unlike her trainer, Riolu wasn't so easily impressed though, only looking around at the scenery for a brief moment before resuming to follow the footprints. "Yeah, yeah. It's all very pretty, but if being around you has taught me anything, it's that not everything is as benign as it seems once you see it up close. Kind of like the sadness and misery I'm sensing through there." The Emanation Pokemon pointed towards some bushes as she spoke, which were exactly where the Houndour tracks led next. And as soon as she looked at them too, Clem immediately lost her smile, sensing the auras of saddened Pokemon in need of help, with the whimpering sounds coming not too long after that. "Oh dear! That's never a good sign! C'mon, Riolu!" Worry and concern getting the best of her, Clem charged right into those bushes, while Riolu rolled her eyes and followed her into the unknown.
It didn't take the Fighting type pair to reach the end of the tracks and find the source of the whimpering and sad emotions they sensed, but they were both shocked once they did. It was indeed one of the Houndours they had dealt with earlier, but it was revealed that she was a mother, and she and her pups were in a very tight spot. Both literally and metaphorically from the looks of it. "AH! This is terrible! Who would do such a thing?!" Clem brought one hand to her mouth in pure shock, beginning to tear up as she looked down at the poor, trapped Houndour family. "I don't know, but why don't you yell a little louder and let the obviously evil criminal know that we're here? That'll get us the answers we need." Riolu said to Clementine in a sarcastic tone of voice, but then immediately facepalmed when Clementine didn't get it and took a deep breath. "HEY! WHOEVER IS BEHIND THIS, COME ON OUT AND SHOW YOURSELF! LET THESE HOUNDOURS GO RIGHT NOW, OR ELSE!"

"Or else what, girlie?" From behind a tree stepped out a tall, domineering man with a scarred up face and an unsetting smile. He was dressed unassumingly enough, easy to pass one's eyes over at a glance, garbed in the plain grey work attire of some blue collar worker out to make a day's fair wage through sweat and determination. There was significant wear on his steel-toed boots and faded stains on the front of the shirt, adding the worn in, honest look of him. However, those cold eyes and the manic curl to his lips—that flashed every yellowed, snaggled tooth—betrayed his facade. He took easy steps forward towards Clem, ignoring her pokemon in favor of brazenly leering at her, looking the young woman over from head-to-toe in one lecherous sweep of his gaze. As he reached the cage Clem stood next to, he idly kicked it, causing the houndours to all yelp and whimper in alarm. "These here are mine to do with what I want, girlie," he drawled condescendingly. "So why don'tcha take your pretty little behind back to town and forget you saw nothin', aight~? Or I'll hafta make sure them peepers are removed." From behind a different tree, a Sneasel stepped out, snickering and flexing its sharp claws.

The second the sound of a new voice hit their ears, both Clem and Riolu turned in the direction it came from, and immediately picked up on a very unsavory aura signature. Travis' working man appearance may have fooled a naiver trainer, but aura never lied. And this man's aura, unlike the normal blue coloration, was a deep, dark shade of red. A sure sign of a foul, corrupted existence. However, even in the face of such a foe, Clem didn't flinch. Rather, she smiled at Travis and gave a response to his words, continuing to read his aura the entire time. "Oh, you think I'm cute? Well, it's good to know that you have some manners at least. If it were anyone else, I might've been a little flattered. I see you though, Travis. Your truth."
At that moment, Clem demonstrated her own powers of intimidation, calling Travis by his name without him having to introduce himself at all. And she didn't stop there, commenting on the poacher's emotions and motives that she saw in his aura. "A wild Pokemon gave you those scars on your face when you were younger, and it made you feel very weak, helpless, and scared. That incident tormented you for years to come, and you decided that you never wanted to feel that way again. So, instead of letting any wild Pokemon dominate you again, you choose to dominate them instead, trapping them, caging them, and tormenting them however you feel like. It makes you feel better and more in control, but the pain, much like your scars, is still there deep inside."
"I sort of know how you feel, for what it's worth. I've got scars of my own too. And if you look closely, you'll see that this eye isn't actually mine." As she spoke, the undead trainer gestured to the scars on her face and legs, then pointed at her right eye, which was indeed a different color and had a differently shaped pupil than her left eye. Travis might not have been able to tell just by looking, but it was most definitely a Lucario's eyeball inside Clem's right eye socket. Still, Clem wasn't looking to make a new friend or gain any sympathy by telling the poacher all of this. Rather, the Galarian trainer was simply being her usual, carefree self, having trailed off at a certain point after she had begun speaking to said poacher.
As that reality sunk in for Clem's partner, Riolu let out an exasperated sigh, shook her head a few times, then decided to take matters into her own paws. Eyeing Travis' Sneasel, the pure Fighting type narrowed her eyes into a glare, then sharpened her claws into three fairly large metal blades on each paw. "Something funny to you, ice breaker? Ya know what I think would be funny? How about I break your ice?" Riolu rhetorically questioned the Sharp Claw Pokemon, trying her best to sound threatening, as she got ready for her next battle. Whether her threat was effective or not, the Emanation Pokemon raced straight towards Travis' Sneasel, aiming to nail the Ice/Dark type with her newly acquired Metal Claw attack.

The poacher falter, expression contorting when Clem used his name and started to describe his history like she was reading from a book. "What kind of..." he trailed off. Grit his teeth. "You're a cop, aintcha? You're just one of those mindless grumpig's that don't know her place all cuz you're upped on some power high from a badge. Tch! Two can play mind games, girlie. I don't care about your scars or your eye or anythin' you're sayin'! All I know is that you're about to loose both them peepers to sneasel's claws! Because I sure as hell aint releasing these houndour. They're mine. Finder's keepers!" Travis probably sounded a little unhinged. Clem got under his skin. Unnerved him. But he wasn't a man to step down when his footing was disturbed. Rather, he widened his stance and charged ahead, willing to sacrifice life and limb if it meant bullying his way to the top. Sneasel lunged forward with a sneer of its own, flinging ice shards with keen accuracy as riolu leapt into action, slashing into the sneasel with powerful, metallic strikes. The pair were a little unevenly matched, with Sneasel being quite frail, but the one thing it had going for it was its speed. Trainer Battle

As soon as Travis blew up at Clem, she lost her smile, in favor of a more confused facial expression, tilting her head as she took another look at his aura. It only took about ten seconds for the young lady from Galar to figure the criminal out once again, stating her findings out loud for the second time since this confrontation began. "Oh dear...Now you're angry and scared. Did I frighten you in some way, Travis? If so, then I'm very sorry. That seems to happen to people around me a lot, but I have no idea why." Clem stated in a blissfully clueless tone of voice, while Riolu simply glanced at her, sweatdropped again, and didn't say a word, knowing fully well from experience that it would just go in one ear and out the other.
"Anyway, you don't have to be afraid of me, Travis. I'm no cop, and I don't have any badges. Although, I am hoping to have at least eight badges by the time my journey through Johto is over." Clementine continued to speak, trailing off once again and smiling at the thought of she and her Pokemon making it all the way to Blackthorn City and winning their eighth and final gym badge. So distracted was Clem by her own fantasies that she didn't even notice Travis charging at her, aiming to take her down. Literally. But of course, that's what Riolu was for. "Damn it all! Passimian, get out here and cover the stupid zombie now!" The Emanation Pokemon called out to one of her fellow Fighting types while fighting off Sneasel, far too busy to protect Clem herself at the moment.
Thankfully, even through their Pokeballs, Clem's other Pokemon always heard Riolu's voice loud and clear, as one of her Pokeballs suddenly burst open. The Teamwork Pokemon then materialized right between Clem and Travis, glared at the criminal, and tossed his coconut right at said criminal's face as hard as he could, stopping his attempt to assault his trainer cold. All in the space of two seconds. "Back off the zombie, jerkface! Nobody assaults her, except Riolu, but that's none of your business anyway!" Passimian yelled at Travis, not at all amused by the fact that someone just tried to attack his trainer, grabbing his coconut as soon as it fell out of the crater it left on Travis' bruised face.
This was more than enough to bring Clem back to reality, as she once again lost her smile, very shocked by the events that has just taken place before her. "...Awww, did I do it again? Sorry, Riolu. You too, Passimian. But thank you both for saving me. I really do appreciate it." The dark-skinned trainer rapidly bowed her head to her Pokemon repeatedly, attempting to thank them and apologize to them at the same time. "Just shut up and pay attention, you damn zombie! And stop making small talk with the bad guy! He's definitely no friend to us!" Riolu yelled at Clem in response, keeping her eyes locked on Sneasel the whole time, getting ready to attack the Dark/Ice type for a third time. As soon as she saw an opening, Riolu charged in again with another Metal Claw attack.

THUMP! Travis' head snapped back when he got a coconut to the face, his charge brought to an instant halt from the force of the impact. He staggered and swayed, rocking back on his heels, startled and unsteady, his head exploding with pain. The hunter reeled and wobbled, arms whirling cartoonishly for a moment before he regained his balance, touching his face to discover his hand coming away red with blood. Passimian had broken the poacher's nose and probably smashed some other bits in there, as Travis' face was rapidly becoming a giant, lumpy bruise, his nose and cheeks swelling, crimson dribbling down his chin. However, he didn't run. He grit his teeth and spat out a glob of blood that had gotten into his mouth from his busted lip and wiped his battered nose with the back of his palm. "Oh you're gonna pay for that," he growled. "Sneasel use ice shard again!" And he did. Except, that strike didn't take the riolu down. And the retaliating metal claw DID. He watched his ace rock backwards and fall. Travis swore. "I'm not done with you!" He returned the dark type and sent out a bat next. Trainer Battle

Once the ice weasel was down, Riolu finally took a moment to catch her breath, but still refused to lower her guard completely, easily able to see from Travis' aura that this battle wasn't over just yet. And speaking of Travis, Clem winced as soon as she saw his face after the impact from Passimian's coconut. "Ouch...I know that hurt. Sorry about that, Travis, but you really shouldn't lay your hands on a lady without consent. Especially when that lady has such sweet and strong Pokemon by her side." Clem gets her smile back after that, paying her precious Fighting types a compliment, which Passimian was happy to receive. Riolu, on the other hand, just scowled her usual scowl and sighed her usual sigh.
Still, Riolu's attitude didn't last long this time, as the Soothe Bell on her wrist chimed a few times, causing the Emanation Pokemon to calm down and smile a little bit herself, even though she didn't fully understand why. Unfortunately, both hers and Clem's smiles didn't last for very long, as Travis sent out his second Pokemon to face them. And unlike Sneasel, they wouldn't be able to rely on type advantage for this one. "Tch. Damn it. A Flying type. Just what we need right now. I'm out." Riolu said out loud, then used her Quick Attack to run back over to Clem and Passimian, giving the Teamwork Pokemon a good shove towards the Poison/Flying type. "Passimian, you're in. Give us a good Rock Tomb, okay?"
Passimian was a little surprised at first, but after attacking Travis' face and saving Clem, he was plenty fired up for a good battle of his own, slapping his face with both hands and putting his game face on. "I'm ready, coach! Just watch this! One Rock Tomb comin' up! And one Zubat goin' down!" Tossing his coconut aside, Passimian dug both of his hands into the ground, used his immense strength to dig up several large rocks, then sent them all flying towards Travis' second Pokemon. "Woo! Go, Passimian! There may be two I's in your name, but there's no I in team!" Clem smiled big once more, giving Passimian the best cheer she could think of on the fly, which did well to make Riolu sigh hard and facepalm yet again.
