The sun began its descent, casting long shadows across the park. Oak and Solomiya, now restored, continued their leisurely stroll. As they rounded a bend, they were greeted by a burst of colour and movement. An Illumise was hovering near a bed of vibrant flowers, her delicate wings catching the setting sun as she twirled gracefully in the air. Her short, fuchsia-coloured hair was styled in an elaborate updo, with Shirley Temple curls that framed her face. She hummed a cheerful tune to herself, clearly absorbed in her own world.
Noticing the newcomers, the Illumise paused mid-twirl and beamed at Solomiya. "Isn't this hairstyle simply divine?" she asked with a melodic lilt in her voice. Her eyes sparkled mischievously as she fluttered closer, inspecting Solomiya with an appraising gaze.
“Oh my,” Solomiya exclaimed, her eyes wide with admiration. “What a lovely display of lights. Your hairdo is truly exquisite.”
The Illumise fluttered closer, her wings shimmering as she hovered just above the flowerbed. "Oh, my dear, you are too kind!" she trilled, clearly relishing the admiration. Her fairy lights flickered playfully, casting a soft glow around her like a halo. "You know, it’s rare to meet someone who truly appreciates the finer details. Most just don’t understand the effort it takes to maintain a look like this."
Solomiya nodded, her gaze still fixed on the delicate curls framing the Illumise’s face. "It’s true," she agreed. "Elegance and style are often overlooked in favor of practicality. But you’ve shown that one can be both beautiful and effective."
The Illumise smiled, her eyes twinkling with delight. "Exactly! Why should we sacrifice one for the other? Life’s too short to blend into the background, don’t you think?" She twirled again, the setting sun catching the iridescent sheen of her wings. "And besides, a little flair never hurt anyone. If you’ve got it, flaunt it, I say!"
Solomiya giggled softly. "You're so right!" she said. "Perhaps I could learn a thing or two from you about adding a touch of glamour to my routine."
The Illumise gasped in delight, her fairy lights glowing even brighter. "Oh, darling, I would be honoured to give you a few pointers! Imagine the two of us, lighting up the night with our combined radiance. We’d be unstoppable!"
Solomiya’s wings fluttered softly as she spoke, her voice tinged with a gentle melancholy. “Your world of twinkling lights is truly captivating, but I must admit, I am a child of the sun. My brilliance fades as the day turns to dusk.”
The Illumise paused, her playful demeanour softening as she regarded Solomiya with understanding. “Ah, my dear, we all shine in our own time. The sun and the moon may never share the sky, but they both light the world in their own way.”
Solomiya smiled, touched by the Illumise’s wisdom. “Thank you,” she said quietly. “Your words mean more to me than you know.”
With that, the Illumise gave a final twirl, her fairy lights casting one last dazzling glow before she fluttered off, disappearing into the growing twilight.

As Oak and Solomiya continued their stroll through the park, the path led them to a quieter, more secluded area where the grass grew taller, and the air was filled with the earthy scent of damp soil. The peaceful atmosphere was briefly interrupted by a rustling sound, drawing Oak’s attention to a small hole in the ground just ahead of them.
Peering out from the burrow, with only its pointed snout and shiny eyes visible above the surface, was a Nincada. Its pale, almost ghostly form blended seamlessly with the surrounding dirt, making it difficult to spot if not for its curious gaze fixed on the pair. Oak’s eyes widened with interest. Nincada was a rare find and its evolutionary line held great potential for research. This was a valuable specimen indeed and Oak knew he couldn’t pass up the opportunity.
“Solomiya, this is our chance,” Oak whispered, his voice filled with excitement. “Let’s see if we can add this Nincada to our team. Start with Sleep Powder. Let’s not spook it.”
Solomiya nodded, her wings spreading gracefully as she fluttered closer to the Nincada’s burrow. Hovering just above the small Pokémon, Solomiya’s wings began to shimmer, releasing a fine, sparkling powder that gently drifted down like golden snow.
“Oi, what’s this now?” the Nincada muttered, its tone sounding half-amused, half-curious. “Ain’t every day a fairy drifts by, sprinklin’ pixie dust.”
Solomiya, taken aback by the Nincada’s utterance, paused her wings’ movement, causing the powder to dissipate momentarily. “I apologise if I startled you,” she said with genuine concern, hovering just above the burrow. “I didn’t mean to intrude. We were just passing by and my trainer here is interested in adding you to our team.”
The Nincada, showing the faintest sign of grogginess, chuckled softly. “A team, eh? Sounds like a lotta work. I’ve been diggin’ these tunnels for who knows how long. Ain’t much for leavin’ my hole, you know? But I gotta admit, your sparkly show got my attention. Not every day someone comes by with wings like yours.”
Solomiya blushed slightly, her wings fluttering with modesty. “You’re too kind,” she replied, her voice warm. “But being part of a team isn’t so bad. You get to see new places, meet interesting Pokémon, and grow stronger together.”
The Nincada tilted its head, considering her words as its eyelids drooped further. “Hmm, new places, huh? Sounds like... a real adventure... But, ya know... I’m a simple bug. Don’t need much. Just a good spot to dig and... dream...” Its voice trailed off as it desperately tried to resist the Sleep Powder.
Oak, observing the interaction, waited patiently to see if the Sleep Powder would have its effect. As the sun drooped toward the horizon, Oak could feel the long shadows creeping over them, casting a blanket of twilight across the park. Around him, the trainers who had spent the day immersed in the Bug Catching Contest were now streaming toward the exit, their voices mingling in excited chatter about their experiences and speculations on who might have caught the winning bug.
Oak’s eyes remained fixed on the Nincada, who still peeked out from its burrow, oblivious to the world above. He knew that the Sewaddle he had already caught was a strong contender, with its vibrant green body and determined spirit. It was a formidable entrant for the contest, but this Nincada represented something different - the opportunity to study the enigma of Shedinja, the ghost in the shell, was too intriguing to pass up. It was a mystery he had always been fascinated by, one that tugged at the very fabric of what he understood about Pokémon evolution.
With the park slowly emptying out and the shadows lengthening, Oak felt this was his last chance to make one final capture before the day was done. Solomiya fluttered her wings gently, releasing another cloud of shimmering Sleep Powder that drifted down toward the Nincada. The powder settled around the burrow, its effects subtle yet powerful, designed to lull the Pokémon into a deep, peaceful slumber. Oak readied a Sport Ball, his heart beating with the anticipation of what might come next.
OOC: Sleep Powder and then Sport Ball. Note, not sure if I'll have another chance to reply as I'll be busy over the weekend but if Nincada is caught, I'll choose it over the Sewaddle.

The Sleep Powder finally took its toll on the Nincada. Its eyes, once filled with curiosity, began to droop, and its head nodded slowly. A yawn escaped its small, pointed snout as its body relaxed, sinking further into the burrow. Its voice, barely a whisper, trailed off into the quiet of the evening, "Maybe... joining a team... wouldn't be so bad... after all..."
Oak watched closely, his hand tightening around the Sport Ball as the Nincada’s movements stilled. He waited a moment longer, ensuring that the Sleep Powder had fully taken effect before he acted. The park had grown quiet around him, the voices of other trainers fading into the distance as they made their way toward the exit. The sun’s last rays painted the sky with streaks of orange and pink, casting long, dramatic shadows that seemed to stretch out indefinitely.
With a steady hand, Oak tossed the Sport Ball, watching as it arced through the air and landed with precision next to the drowsy Nincada. The ball opened, drawing the Pokémon inside with a flash of light before snapping shut. It rocked gently on the ground, once, twice, then fell still with a soft click. The capture was complete.
As Oak went to collect the Sport Ball, the bell signalling the end of the Bug Catching Contest rang out, a clear crisp note that chimed through the park. Oak glanced at his watch, realising he had only moments left to submit his Pokémon for judging. He hurried toward the line forming at the judging table and couldn't help but feel a pang of indecision. The Sewaddle he had caught earlier was a strong contender, with its vibrant green body and determined spirit. But this Nincada held a special significance, a potential gateway to understanding the enigmatic Shedinja.
As Oak neared the front of the line, he spotted Cooltrainer Nick, his blue hair catching the last light of the setting sun. Nick noticed Oak and walked over with his easy, confident demeanour, a playful grin already forming on his lips.
"Well, well, if it isn’t the man of the hour," Nick said with a chuckle. "You look like you’ve been on quite the adventure today."
Oak smiled, grateful for the distraction. "You could say that. I’ve caught two Pokémon but now I’m torn between which one to submit."
Nick raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "You know," he began, his tone thoughtful, "a contest like this is about more than just strength or rarity. It’s about the connection you feel with the Pokémon and what it represents to you. It’s about what makes your heart race, what keeps you up at night thinking of possibilities. The ones that challenge you, inspire you and push you to be more than you were before. Those are the ones worth choosing, every time."
Oak felt a sense of clarity wash over him. “You’re right,” Oak said, his voice firm with conviction. “It’s about choosing what fills you with wonder, what makes you question the limits of what you know."
Nick grinned, clapping Oak on the back. "That’s the spirit. Go with your gut, old sport. You’ve got this."
With a nod, Oak approached the judging table and as he handed over the Sport Ball containing the Nincada, he felt a sense of peace, knowing he had made the right choice. The rest would unfold as it was meant to but for now, Oak was content. He had chosen the path of discovery and that, more than anything, was the true victory.
