As Marchbaby entered the National Park to start the bug catching contest with Shocker by his side he was really hoping to add another strong bug to his collection. Any experience Shocker could gain from the hunt was an added bonus as the Magnezone still had plenty of room to grow stronger. " I wonder what we will run into first? I suppose only time will tell."

The first bug to appear was a little Sewaddle. It was a Pokemon Marchbaby needed for the Pokedex but he did not feel as though it stood a chance of winning the contest. Nor did he think it would be too hard to find another at some point. With that all in mind he decided to have Shocker battle it for the experience." Shocker let's battle this Sewaddle for the experience since it is better than nothing. Use Flash Cannon on it please." Marchbaby then waited to see the results of Shocker's attack.

With the Sewaddle was dealt with Marchbaby wanted to start the search for his next bug encounter as quickly as possible. Given how long his encounter with Triumph had lasted he wanted to save as much time as he could in case another bug proved tough to capture. He also wanted to make as much progress as he could to see where he might stand in the final results of the contest. With all of that in mind he rushed into the tall grass to look for something else." Hopefully this next encounter is something a bit more special. One uncommon encounter is worth the risk of knocking it out especially if something better comes out of hiding."

Kakuna was highly unlikely to win the Bug Catching Contest either especially one of such a low level. Like the Sewaddle beforehand it would be perfect for Shocker to gain some experience from. As usual Marchbaby felt a bit bad for the poor bug as it had no real hope against a higher leveled Magnezone though not battling it would be a total waste of an encounter. With three more encounters after this one Marchbaby was not about to waste such an opportunity. " Shocker use Thunderbolt. Try to make it quick so Kakuna doesn't have to suffer too much." He then waited to see if the attack would bring an end to the battle.
OOC: Shocker uses Thunderbolt.

With the second bug defeated Marchbaby started to hunt again for a good bug type. So far his luck had not been the best but he still had a few chances left to get lucky and Shocker was gaining valuable experience in the process. He knew he would have to capture something soon as any entry was better than nothing but he hoped that something would give him a good chance at winning. " Well that is two bugs down and 3 more to go. I really hope this next encounter is something really special." He then looked around hoping another encounter would be right around the corner.

As soon as Marchbaby laid eyes on his next encounter he knew it was indeed something special. The iron clad ant Pokemon known as Durant had shown up right in front of him and he could hardly contain his excitement to see a bug covered in armor. He had raised a Scizor before so he knew it was not the only iron clad bug but being one of his two favorite types he had to try and capture it as it would certainly get high marks in the Bug Catching Contest. After pausing for a moment to compose himself he laid out a plan.
" Hold up Shocker, this could he a contest winner right here. We do not want to harm this fine bug at all. We can always lower it's accuracy later in the battle if push comes to shove but for now let's try and capture it outright." He then grabbed one of his Sport Balls having finally found something worth using them on. All he needed was a single stroke of luck to add this specimen to his collection and his position in the contest would be nothing more than a consolation prize by comparison as Durant were quite a rare sight in most parts of the Pokemon world.
As he watched the mighty bug stare at him almost as it if wanted to battle Shocker despite the size and level difference he admired it's spirit as it was leagues ahead of most bugs when it came to strength and endurance. Such a fine bug type would be great to partner with a Scizor if he ever encountered numerous grass or fairy types and needed to do as much damage as he could. Just thinking of all the possibilities filled him with glee as he got ready to try his luck for the first time.
" Such a fine Pokemon as yourself would make a great partner for a dragon apprentice such as myself. I would love for you to join me. If you do come along I have a few other steel and bug type Pokemon who would love to meet you." He then tossed the Sport Ball as hard as he could towards the Durant as Shocker stood ready to take a hit if it failed. Both Marchbaby and Shocker were willing to stick around as long as it took to try and secure this rare bug no matter how difficult.

As expected Marchbaby's first attempt to capture Durant failed. While that would impact his score a bit he hoped his second attempt would go a bit better as he grabbed another Sport Ball. " I had a feeling that would happen. You are juat as tough as you look and that would fit with me perfectly. I really hope this time you will decide to join me." He then tossed the Sport Ball as Shocker continued to look on. Having barely felt a thing from the Durant's first attack it was more than willing to take more hits for the team.

Yet another failed attempt but Marchbaby was not swayed. He was more worried about capturing Durant than his score in the Bug Catching Contest now as such a mighty bug was worth not doing well in the contest. He also really needed it for the Pokedex so he was not about to give up. " Still as tough as ever I see. Still I am not about to give up." He then tossed another Sport Ball.
