Maxwell king Max continued moving towards the sound of a human whistle that he could audibly hear emanating throughout this area of the forest. A young looking male with choppy black hair and dark brown eyes emerged from a clearing of a thicket of trees and rushed towards Maxwell. The young male had distinct look of worry painted all over his face, that was in between the heavy breaths that he heaved in as he was hunched over on his knees. Max's initial reaction was one of total confusion as to what exactly was going on.
"It's a Pokemon Trainer you're after yeah? I prefer to be recognized as an Ace Trainer, but I'll accept this slight on my abilities for now"
Max couldn't help but stroke his own ego, he sure did need someone to knock some reality and bring him back down to earth because he was currently residing on cloud nine after his victory over Bugsy. Max was disappointed to hear that the young male didn't want to battle, after all he didn't look like much of a challenge anyways, that suspicion was confirmed as he admitted to Max that a pair of Farfetch'd belonging to the boy's Father had escaped into the forest due to the boys inability to control the leek duck pokemon. Max felt no obligation to assist the young boy, he was intent on making sure he would be repaid for his services should he be successful in retrieving the Farfetch'd for the boy,
"I'll help so long as you repay me for my services, if so then we have a deal."
Max listened as the young boy carefully explained where he believed the pair of normal type pokemon had fled off to, simple little things such as 'brightly lit area' and 'large groups of small bird pokemon' were key words that stuck out in the description that Maxwell had been given. Max nodded acknowledgement to the young boy's directions and set off along a path ahead of where he and the young boy had been in conversation, without a map in hand to help him in his pursuit of the Farfetch'd it would be fair to say that this would be similar to finding a needle in a haystack.

Coming from Luminous Vale.
As Kevin entered the Shady Glen he could not deny his quest to find the missing Farfetch'd took far longer than he had hoped though he could say he had kept his word. With the two Farfetch'd exhausted after being defeated as well he was sure they would be glad to return to their master. After a few minutes of walking he saw Sylvester in the distance and quickly approached the man. " Sylvester I finally found the missing Farfetch'd. They put up a good fight but in the end I was able to convince them to come back to you. I am so sorry it took this long."
As he waited for the man to respond Samantha and Oracle kept watch as they eagerly awaited seeing Goldenrod City for the first time.

Sylvester waited in the same spot that Kevin had last met the kid at. It felt like years had past by and Sylvester was nearly sure that he was starting to grow a beard and a moustache that he would eventually need to shave off so that he could be more like his father. In reality, it had only been of hours at best. Sure enough, the tall, brown-haired man came walking back with his Farfetch’d just like he had promised. The dark-haired kid’s eyes brimmed up with happiness and hope when he saw his two familiar birds and he rushed over to inspect them carefully with a bright smile. Sylvester rushed over to meet up with his bird Pokemon. The happy-go-lucky and mischievous brown birds held out their leeks in one of their wings and spun them as they chirped and chattered away. “You had me really worried, you know that, Farfetch’d?!” He scolded them with a disapproving wag of his fingers. The Pokemon didn’t seem too bothered by the boy’s remarks, but he took them out from underneath’s Kevin’s care as he catered them close to himself. Sylvester’s dark brown eyes glanced up to the tall man as he craned his head to look up at Kevin with a smile. “Thanks again for all your help. Here, take this for helping me find my father’s Farfetch’d, ok? It’s nearly impossible to travel through the forest without it.”Sylvester would fumble around inside of his Pockets until he was able to locate a small circular disk. He immediately pulled it out and reached out with one hand extended to hand it over to Kevin eagerly. The Farfetch’d turned to each other with a knowing glance as they chattered away. After Kevin accepted offer, Sylvester would turned, and bid him farewell while directing the Farfetch’d back home. If Kevin tried not to take the item in any way, Sylvester would become insistent until Kevin was all but forced to take it from him. “Thanks again for all your help. I’ve been worried sick about them!” He commented as he would bid the tall older man goodbye. Sylvester gave Kevin HM01: Cut!
Don’t forget to teach it to a Pokemon to make it out of Ilex Forest.

Kevin was quite relieved that the Farfetch'd had been safely returned but he was thrilled to get the hidden machine for Cut. " Excellent, with this hidden machine was should have no trouble getting through the rest of the forest. Eiskalt I want you to learn this move as you will get the most use out of it." He said as he booted up the machine. After a moment Eiskalt perfected the art of cutting with her claws while forgetting Taunt. After that matter was settled Kevin decided to make his way deeper into the forest so he could be one step closer to Goldenrod City.
Heading to the Dense Thicket.

Maxwell king » Word Count: 100 (However +450 to be added to egg from the Gleaming Hollow/Luminous Value posts combined with this post) OOC: Turning in the pair of Farfetch'd to Sylvester After a slow trip back through the woods via Luminous Vale, Max finally found himself, Jupiter and the captured Farfetch'd in tow back in the surrounds of the Shady Glen. Ilex Forest was a well renowned maze within the Johto region and Max was seemingly experiencing this fact firsthand. Max noticed Sylvester nearby and approached the boy as he motioned to the pair of Farfetch'd that trailed not too far behind the black haired boy and his electric type pokemon partner.
"There's Donald and Daffy for you kid, they're a troublesome duo, stood little to no chance against me but"

Sylvester was pacing anxiously as he had nowhere to look for the ducks himself, or he could look but there was no way he could get them back home with him. He glanced at the sky above the canopy as he tried to guess what time it was and when his father would expect him home. That he didn't get much done in the forest was accepted but returning home without his father's two priced and well trained farfetch'ds was not! Sylvester didn't dare think of what his father would say if that happened! He had been told plenty of times just to man up and show the pokemon who was boss, but it was hard to do when they mocked him and slapped him with their leeks the moment his father turned his back, and had done so as long as Sylvester could remember. It was hard to turn that around but he did what he could. He paused for the twentieth time this day as he saw a movement down the path, was it the trainer this time? He had seen several birds and bugs move around and scatter when they noticed him, but the trainer would be successful, right? He would return as he promised, right? Sylvester bit his lip as he barely could stand still, as Max came into view the boy held his breath and looked frantically for the two birds. His whole body slumped as he exhaled and a smiled spread on his face when the two naughty ducks were following Max obediently. "Oh thank you so much! You really did it!" Sylvester exclaimed and ran over to meet them, and he laughed wholeheartedly at Max's nicknames of the birds. "They certainly have just as much temperament!" He agreed and turned to wag a finger at the birds, "did you hear that? You better behave or that'll be your new names!" The threatened but the birds just rolled their eyes. "Oh right, I have something really useful to you to show my gratitude," Sylvester said solemly and the farfetch'ds looked at him sharply, did he really plan to..? Sylvester shot a glance around as if he looked to make sure no-one else was around to hear. "This is a TM which can teach one of your pokemon Cut, if you want to get through this forest you need to know how to handle the wood or you'd be stuck!" The boy declared and handed the TM to Max. The birds stared shocked at him and then began to protest loudly, "Time to get home, see you!" The boy half shouted to be heard over the birds, and he waved cheerfully and spun around to race out of the forest. The farfetch'ds squawked loudly and waddled after him while continuing to air their displeasure of his actions. Sylvester gave Max HM01: Cut!

Maxwell king » Word Count: 564 OOC: Edward forgets Leer for Cut and forgets Focus Energy for U-Turn and forgets Quick Attack for Roost! moving onto Dense Thicket! The excited look that Sylvester had painted all over his face spoke volumes as to how pleased the boy was to see the pair of Farfetch'd safely returned to him. Max was surprised by Sylvester's tone of voice had initially echoed surprise that he had been successful with the task that had been given to him, did this incompetent little fellow really doubt the untapped greatness that existed within him. Max being petty about the matter decided to make sure the young boy was aware of the fact,
"The task was never in doubt, I am to be never doubted, remember that"
Before heading off with his returned Farfetch'd, Sylvester handed over a technical machine to Max that contained the move known as 'Cut', a maneuver that would be vital for Max to continue making his way through the maze that was Ilex Forest. Max immediately knew the perfect pokemon to teach the technical machine to as he released Edward the Scyther from his pokeball. The bipedal mantis pokemon stretched out his large, white scythe like forearms before turning to where Max and Jupiter were standing and bowed towards them as a sign of respect. Max appreciated the gesture from one of the newest members of his ever expanding team of pokemon, however he felt given the setting, it was totally unnecessary
"Edward, no need for formalities boy, we're in the middle of the damned woods"
Edward nodded his acknowledgement of the matter as he surveyed his new surroundings, for a bug type pokemon like him, the setting that was Ilex Forest suited him. Max retrieved his pokedex and placed the technical machine containing the normal type move in Cut into the side slot of it as a video begun to play on the screen in a similar matter to how a DVD worked. Max then retrieved another technical machine, this one containing the maneuver known as 'U-Turn', a bug type attack that would be an ideal addition to the mantis pokemons attacking arsenal. Finally Max then retrieved a third technical machine from his backpack, this one containing the flying type move in 'Roost'.
"I need you to pay attention for Me now Edward, we're going to need your help"
Edward once again nodded his acknowledgment of his trainers request as he begun to watch the videos that played on the relatively small pokedex that the black haired young adult male held in his hand. Edward begun to mimic the actions that the videos showcased to him, it would now be up to him to practice the maneuvers to truly master the techniques. After a while of watching her teammate spend time practicing both maneuvers, Jupiter became restless of the inactivity and begun to wander off to investigate a sign that lead to a path that Max had not previously traveled as yet. Max closed his pokedex and placed it back into the right pocket of his blue jeans for the time being and motioned for Edward to follow Jupiter. As Max approached the sign it read:
'Dense Thicket - Beware travelers, don't get lost or you'll never find your way to Goldenrod City!
An ominous warning to say the least, Max wasn't spooked by some rickety old sign however, the boy simply oozed confidence at this point in time.
"Alright Jupiter and Edward, let's work together to find our way out of this place"

As Tyler made his way to the entrance of the Ilex Forest he wanted to waste as little time as possible to get to the area of the forest he wanted to reach. There were not any reasons for now to stick around in the Shady Glen so he continued on towards his objective.
Moving on to the Dense Thicket.

It was rare that Venom deviated from his plans, but something about the Ilex Forest was giving him a bad feeling that he just couldn't shake. So, with the sun shining brightly overhead, the ninja entered the biggest forest in all of Johto, keeping his wits about him as he went. Granted, the forest was very beautiful and peaceful, with plenty of happy wild Pokemon running around, but there was also a chill in the air as well. Most people and Pokemon probably wouldn't be able to pick up on it, but Venom wasn't like most people. That said, Venom did still take the time to fully appreciate all the new sights and sounds all around him as he ventured further into the forest. He wondered who or what he'd encounter first, then got his answer about ten minutes after starting down the path.
Through the trees, the Poison type trainer noticed a young man pacing back and forth, looking rather concerned. It was none of Venom's business, yes, but if nothing else, Venom figured that he could probably get some useful information out of this young man. So, after taking a deep breath to recompose himself, the ninja approached the young man and started questioning him. "Hello there. You seem distressed. Is something wrong?" Based on the young man's appearance, Venom guessed that he probably worked for the man in Azalea Town who's said to make the best charcoal in all of Johto. And if that was the case, Venom also figured that he must've been in the forest to collect pieces of wood. However, Venom found it quite odd that this young man was here to gather wood, but didn't seem to have an axe or any Pokemon with him at all.

Sylvester had been having a very bad day every since he entered the forest. His job was to cut down some trees and gather wood using his boss's Farfetch'd. As he lacked any badges the avian Pokemon liked to disobey him at every chance they got and play tricks on him. This morning they were particularly mean as they waited for Sylvester to get distracted by a swarm of passing Wurmple before they attacked one of the bug Pokemon sending it flying right into Sylvester's face. By the time he recovered from the impact the two Farfetch'd were long gone leaving nothing but his swollen face behind as a reminder that they were once there. Hours seemed to pass with no hope of recovering the Pokemon when Sylvester saw Venom approaching. As soon as the ninja asked him if something was wrong Sylvester started to beg for help as he was in a really tough spot. " Oh thank goodness, I will be in so much trouble if you cannot help me. My boss sent me to gather wood by cutting down trees using his Farfetch'd but they hate me and since I do not have any badges they will not listen to a word I say. Those little sneaky Farfetch'd even attacked a Wurmple nearly knocking me out when it collided with my face before they ran off."After pausing a moment to try and dull the pain from his still sore face Sylvester gave the young Ninja some clues as to where he might find the pesky avian Pokemon. " I believe one of them headed for an area where a majority of the Pokemon are colored brown and I believe one of them looked just like an Acorn. As for the other I believe it ran in the direction of a location where a bug with large red eyes and purple fur lives and I think a special kind of tree grows as well. If you find the right area they will be the first Pokemon to appear. I wish I could help more but I do have a Hidden Machine I can give you if you help me."As he finished giving all the advice he could Sylvester sat on a tree trunk that had fallen over still trying to nurse his wounded face. He hoped Venom would be able to gather the Farfetch'd as there was no way he could go looking in his condition. Will you help Sylvester find the missing Farfetch'd?

Just one look at Sylvester's face was all Venom needed to see that he was having a particularly bad day, but still, Venom listened to him speak and waited for him to finish. The ninja wasn't all that surprised by what he heard, knowing that it wasn't uncommon for Pokemon to behave that way towards trainers with no badges. "I see. It sounds like your boss either has a lot of faith in you, or he's just trying to mess with you." Venom commented in a puzzled tone of voice, not really sure which it was in this case. At first, Venom was thinking that this wasn't his problem and that he should just move on. However, Sylvester instantly recaptured his attention when he mentioned that he had a Hidden Machine.
Naturally, Venom knew how valuable and useful Hidden Machines were, and quickly began to reconsider helping Sylvester out. Ilex Forest may have been a complex place, but based on the details Sylvester provided, the Poison type trainer had a some pretty good ideas of where his boss's Farfetch'd had run off to. After quickly looking around and getting the lay of the land, Venom turned in the direction of the first location he believed one of the Wild Duck Pokemon to be located in. "Very well. I'll help you. Wait right here and I'll be back as soon as I can. I believe I already know where both of your boss's Farfetch'd are, so hopefully this won't take too long." With that, the ninja took off running, heading south first, towards a part of the forest known as the Gloomy Ravine.
Heading to the Gloomy Ravine.

Arriving from Enchanted OrchardAfter quite a long hike, Venom returned to the location where his journey through Ilex had begun. Once he did, he immediately approached Sylvester and handed over the defeated Farfetch'd to him, telling him everything that happened as well. Venom then bowed in an apologetic way for returning his Farfetch'd in its current state, unconscious and injured, but he assured the other young male that it would be fine with some rest and a potion or two. The ninja also took the time to tell Sylvester that he was not at all pleased with the way that the Farfetch'd was treating the wild Pokemon in the area he found it in, raising his head as he spoke. Although, based on everything Sylvester told him before, Venom was pretty sure that he expected that sort of behavior from the Wild Duck Pokemon. Regardless, Venom still had one more Farfetch'd to find. So, after saying goodbye to Sylvester once more, the Poison type trainer ran and disappeared down a northern path this time, knowing that the second Farfetch'd was most likely located in an area known as the Mahogany Knoll. OOC: Venom leaves for the Luminous Vale after handing over the first Farfetch'd to Sylvester. Also, sorry about the double post. Didn't really have a choice.

Arriving from Luminous ValeAs time marched on, the weather seemed to be getting worse and worse. As such, Venom figured that if Sylvester was still around, he'd probably take shelter from the storm someplace nearby. With that in mind, the ninja jumped down from the trees as soon as he made it back to the Shady Glen, and immediately started looking around. "Sylvester! Are you still here?! I've got your second Farfetch'd!" Venom called out to the apprentice charcoal maker, keeping a good hold on the unconscious Wild Duck Pokemon in his arms as he did. Fortunately, with his snake eyes and keen hearing, he'd be able to see or hear Sylvester even through all the rain and thunder going on. OOC: Venom turns in the second Farfetch'd for the Wild Goose Chase quest.

Sylvester paced back and forth worriedly. This wasn’t the first time that the Wild Duck Pokemon had gotten away from him, and he doubted it would be the last. The black haired boy knew that his dad needed his help the most with wrangling the duck Pokemon. But it would help him so much if he had the proper badges to get the Farfetch’d to listen to him! How could he up and leave his home behind to collect the badges, or get the Farfetch’d to listen to him better despite not having the badges? Sylvester bent down and picked up a small stick off the ground as he paced, watching the first Farfetch’d that had been brought back by Venominon sit up and shake its head as it began to recover from its previous altercation with with Venom’s Golbat. “You know…you two cause me a lot of trouble…” He huffed, raising his hand up to scratch his head. The brown feathered duck lifted its large leek up into the air and tilted its head questioningly. As it turned around, Sylvester would immediately reach out and grab the Farfetch’d by its shoulders, shaking his head. “Oh, no you don’t, mister! You want me to tell Venom that you’re sneaking off again?!” He huffed, annoyed. The duck’s warm brown eyes widened in alarm, and it slumped back down next to Sylvester’s feet, crossing its wings over each other with a loud huff. When Sylvester heard a familiar voice calling out to him, he would cup his hands around the sides his mouth and call back as loud as he could, “I’M OVER HERE!” He jumped and clapped as well, trying to make it easier for Venominon to find him. As soon as Venom returned with his second Farfetch’d, Sylvester would give a deep and respectful bow to Venom. “I cannot begin to express how grateful I am that you’ve returned my father’s Farfetch’d. I think I should ask my father to allow me to collect enough badges for them to listen to me. But…I don’t know…I’m all the help he has, and my dad cannot do his work alone. Still…” Sylvester pulled a small bag off his bag and began fumbling through it for something. When he finally found the disc he had been looking for, he would turn around and stretch his arm out towards Venominon for him to take the item. “Here. This is for all your help. Please, take it. It’s our Hidden Machine, Cut. It’ll help you cut down the smaller trees in the forest, creating passageways to navigate your way through Ilex.” Then, he would turn back in the direction of Azalea with a nod. “As for me…I really should get these two back to my dad. Please, be safe on your travels…” Sylvester gave Venominon HM01: Cut! Don’t forget to teach it to a Pokemon to make it out of Ilex Forest.

As soon as Venom heard Sylvester's voice, he immediately turned towards it and ran as fast as he could, making sure not to drop the unconscious Farfetch'd in his arms, of course. Upon locating the other male trainer, Venom handed the second Farfetch'd over to him and gave him a bow. "Think nothing of it. Hopefully these two won't cause you, themselves, or anyone else any more trouble in the future." The ninja narrowed his eyes at the first Farfetch'd as he spoke, able to see right away that the Wild Duck Pokemon was already planning on wandering off again the first chance it got. However, Venom refocused his attention on Sylvester once he spoke to him again, listening to what he had to say. Naturally, Venom was a bit surprised to find out that the boss Sylvester spoke of when they first met was also his father, which really did well to drive home the point about how serious this was.
"Oh. So, your boss is also your father. I see. Well then, if I may offer some advice, I think taking some time away from home to earn some badges is the right thing to do. Yes, it might be tough for your father to lose his assistant for a while, but you have to think long-term. Without at least a few badges, the same thing will likely keep on happening again and again. And you can't always count on experienced trainers to show up when you need them to and help you out. In the end, getting stronger and gaining experience is never a bad idea. I'm sure your father will understand, just as my own did when I chose to leave home."
As he explained all of this to the other male, Venom found himself thinking back to the day he left home. It was tough for him to leave behind everything he had ever known, but he never regretted his choice for a second. The Poison type trainer then accepted the HM from Sylvester, placed it into his TM case, and gave him another bow of gratitude. "Thank you as well, Sylvester. This'll come in very handy. I'm sure of it. Take care of yourself, and safe travels on your journey as well." With that, Venom turned away, ran off, and soon disappeared into the rain and trees, heading deeper into the Ilex Forest. Now that he had Cut in his arsenal, he could access the deeper areas of the forest. As for what awaited him inside, even a ninja like him couldn't say for certain.
OOC: Having completed the Wild Goose Chase quest, Venom heads straight for the Dense Thicket.
