Sylvan had been waiting for a pretty long while. How long, well…he wasn’t quite sure, but he was getting tired. His eyelids were drooping as he leaned up against one of the giant trees, and he sighed, wondering why he had agreed to wait. He could have just left those troublesome little birds. Sure…he would have gotten fired, but it would have been better than this, that was for sure. “Maybe if I just nap for a little bit…” he closed his eyes, letting himself drift off. Though, it wasn’t long after that when Joey’s screaming drifted into his ears, starling him and making him jump up, smacking into a low lying tree limb. He held the spot and cried out. “Oh for the love of Arceus!-“ He blinked suddenly as he spotted Joey, holding the two Farfetch’d, and relaxed, still rubbing the tender spot on his head. “Geez, you sure know how to give someone a scare, don’t you?” he asked. Then he glanced at both Farfetch’d, sighing and holding out two Pokeballs. Much to each of the bird's dismay, they were returned. Sylvan smiled and placed each Pokeball in his pocket, turning to Joey. “You don’t know how much I owe you!” he said happily, a grin spread over his face. He looked into his bag, and quickly pulled out a case, handing it to Joey. “It isn’t much, but we have a bunch of these HM’s laying around at the Kiln. So, I’ll give one to you as a thanks for saving my hide there.” Suddenly, a sharp yell made Sylvan jump, as he realized his boss was calling him. “Ah! Gotta go, see ya later Joey, and thanks again!” he called over his shoulder as he ran back towards Azalea town. ________________________________________________ Quest Clear!
Congratulations! You have completed the quest, Given Sylvan a near heart attack, and gained HM01 Cut!

Turning over to where there was a disturbance, the boisterous motorhead had just realised what he had done. " Oh... Haha! Sorry for the wakeup call. Jus' didn't see ya around is all." Prying his eyes over to where the young lad had been napping, Joey lingered for a moment. " That doesn't look all that comfortable." Shaking his head and relinquishing the matter, Joe listened to what he had to say. After all, he had spent many a night sleeping on the cold, unforgiving ground. As the birds magically turned to a red light and zoomed back into their Pokeballs, Joe rummaged around in his own pocket and found something to hand to Sylvan. " Oh aye, I almost forgot. Seein' as they were such a hassle, I took a precaution and removed their leek from them. I remember hearing stories about how they can't live without it but..." Laughing nervously, Joe scratched the back of his head and hoped for the best. " I think they're not knocking on death's door just yet. Speaking of which, sorry if we were too rough on 'em but they did need a good lesson teachin'." Not expecting too much in the way of a reward, when the familiar shaped object of a TM popped out of his bag. " Oh! Wait... That's not a TM?" Murmured Joe as Sylvan began to explain what it really was. " A HM? Hmm, beats me but i'll be damned if I won't gratefully except this. Thanks man." With a tip of his bandanna, Joe accepted the tutoring device and laughed. " Hahaha, looks like we can cut our way though this hell hole." With Syl now heading off, Joe said his farewells. " Hope your boss don't get too grumpy. Ah well, maybe i'll pop into your Kiln at some point. Seeya around bud." Watching as the green clad individual ran off out of the forest's exit, Joe turned around in the opposite direction while looking at the HM now safely in his hands. " This one's a no brainer. Hey Lupin, you've got sword like arms. Why don't we teach you this?" Unlocking the data, Joe watched as Lupin flashed once and appeared now fully able to use the move Cut. With a flashy show of slicing on the air in front of it, there was no doubt that the moved had fail to register. " Nice! Now... Looks like we need to find the exit. So err... I guess more stumbling around right? Shouldn't be too hard." Heading off in a hitherto unexplored path, Joe's group made their journey to find the way out of the forest.

Sandy Katayko Not wrappin' this in ribbons... ------------------------------------------------ Sandy, once making her final preparations, had traveled into Ilex Forest. The sooner she had gotten away from Azalea Town, the better. She hadn’t had the best stay. Though, she was out now, that was the last she’d have to see of that place for what she hoped was a long time. Her Pokemon, were also more than ready to leave, so, they had set out at what must at least have been…six that morning? Sandy had Berry perched on her shoulder, Scatter at her side, flicking his tail with a rather relaxed look on his face.
“Well guys, Welcome to Ilex forest…” she remembered staying at her vacation house as a child, and playing in Ilex, but she had never actually had to go through it before…no sir. She had only been able to go as far as her parent’s could see her, and that was never very far. Scatter sniffed the air and wrinkled his nose.
“Mya Mya, Mya…” This smells gross…. Berry rolled her eyes, looking down at him from her spot on Sandy’s shoulder.
“Squirtle, Squirt, Squirt!” Well you know, some Pokemon like nature Scatter! Scatter gave a snort. Stupid turtle. He had been captured in the city, so it should have been pretty apparent that the city was where he was brought up, of course he wasn’t going to like the smell of a cruddy forest!
“Don’t start you guys.” Sandy warned them. Just then, Sandy blinked as she spotted a man about her age, maybe a bit older, who seemed…a little troubled. She sighed, certainly being a sucker for those who needed help. Sighing deeply, she made her way over to him, Scatter close on her heels.
“Hi…I noticed you looked kind of…well, frantic…are you looking for something?” Berry wondered why they always had to stop and help everyone, and to be honest, it kind of irked her.

Having been so wrapped up in his troubles, the young man had been totally unaware of Sandy coming up to him. Still racking his head physically with his hands, the man was about ready to yell out loud but the unexpected greeting from Sandy had meant his rage was misplaced into surprise. " Yeeehaaaaaaaaaahhhhh!!!" Jumping into the air and swivelling around to see who the meek voice belonged to, he held his hands up high to his face to obscure any possibility of it being one of the forest's malicious spirits. Not fully seeing that it was just a human girl before him, the youthful male cowered and spoke with a baited stammer. " N-N-No! Don't come for my soul! It's not tasty honest! I-I-I'll leave, I p-promise, gaaaah!" It was only when he had seen a tail flicker by from Scatter that the man lowered his guard. " Oh...Ohoho... Ah. I see." Getting up from the grubby flooring he had fell to, the young man blushed deeply at his mistake and nervously scratched the back of his head while nervously grinning. " Ahaha... You got me real good there. I seem to lose all competence when I enter this forest." Sighing exasperatedly, the male was absent minded enough to not introduce himself. " Not only am I terrified by rumours of ghosts prowling the woods but I seem to have lost the Kiln's livelihood. Our two Farfetch'd... Maaaan..." Abruptly blinking, he realised his mistake. " OH! I forgot to introduce myself! The name's Sylvester! But you can call me Syl! Hah!" Giving a curt bow of his head, he explained his predicament. " My pops and I run Azalea's Charcoal Kiln business. It's nothing fancy but its our main income. I collect the wood and pops back home fires it up into Charcoal with his Magmar's special technique." With a strong sense of pride in his voice, it quickly faltered as he finished. " But! Listen! That might come to a sad end if I don't get these Farfetch'd back...!" Sighing again, it was clear this guy was either terribly poor at looking after Pokemon or just had the whole world conspiring against him. " My pa used to own the Farfecth'd but since I came to look after them they never listen and just do their own thing. I keep telling them to use Cutting Attack to get the logs needed but they just squawk and paddle off." Shoving his hands deep into his pocket he kicked a leaf on the ground. " I don't have any Pokemon either so I can't go looking for them. Yup, just stuck here." Looking at Sandy and her Pokemon, a funny idea crept into his head. " Say, you look like a knowledgeable trainer and you have Pokemon. Why don't you go searching for me?" Seeing a flicker of hope ring in his eyes, Sylvester jumped at the chance. " I would be real grateful if you could help, like!" Unsure if she would do it out of the kindness of her heart or if she was like any other and needed an incentive, he was quick to find something to bribe her with. " Say, you wanna get out of here right? Only way out is if your Pokemon can cut things up good. If not..." He pulled a face and blew his lips. " Pffffft, you're stuck. It's a good thing I have that Cutting Attack on me! I could give you the HM to teach your Pokemon." With the offer on the table, he proceeded to give her some hints. " Now, when I was out and about I distinctly remember losing the two Pokemon in two different neck of the woods..." Rubbing his chin, he tried to remember something unique about the locations. " Well, the first had a load of nocturnal Pokemon running about. Guess the Farfetch'd ran off to play with them. Err... The second... Yeah. It was a part of the forest which dazzled brightly with a nice green shine." Clapping his hands together, Sylvester seemed confident she had enough to go on. " Ya can try knockin' them out in battle or setting traps about the forest. They're wily though so don't think they'll be easy to find." Moving over to a stump nearby to them, he stretched his arms before getting comfortable. " Best of luck, i'm here if ya get confused." Pulling out a device from his pocket, he flipped open the lid to reveal two screens as a familiar theme started to play...

Sandy Katayko Not wrappin' this in ribbons... ------------------------------------------------ Sandy backed up a bit as the man she had questioned proceeded to freak out, and she frowned a bit, thinking she should have perhaps not approached him, but when he calmed down, she decided to stay and listen to him. He told her about the charcoal business his father ran in Azalea town, and she nodded as she listened, wondering what she would be able to do for him at all.
She now understood as he explained he had lost the Farfetch’d that he needed to cut wood for the kiln in the Ilex forest, and how he needed help finding them. Though, she tilted her head a bit, as it sounded a bit like he was bribing her. She hesitantly spoke, calling him what he had told her to call him.
“So, this cut is what I need to get out of here, eh Syl? Well, I’ll go find them for you, so no worries.” She promised, a smile on her face as she did so. Berry looked quite disinterested in this task, but at least it was something to do. Sandy didn’t stay to watch him pull out the device, and instead set off. She was actually really unsure of where she was going, but the point of being a trainer was to explore, wasn’t it? She was sure she’d find the birds along the way.

Incoming from Enchanted Orchard
Back in the Glen again? Ilex Forest really was a blasted maze. Tanya groaned when they entered the familiar area, resisting the urge to kick a nearby tree stump. That would only annoy her further as well as causing intense, eye-watering pain. Even Starscream seemed annoyed to be back in the area, and made this clear by landing hard next to Sylvester and possibly knocking him over.
"Hey, be nice you grumpy metalhead," Tanya scolded as she walked silently by Sylvester, having nothing to report. Here she was catching Pokémon that suited her fancy and casting off her promise to the boy. How could she look him in the face while doing that? Farfetch'd was, however, proving elusive, and the only way they'd ever find the little bugger was if they kept looking. Starscream took off again and led them out of the glen, hoping to not be taken somewhere they'd already been through.

A FARFETCH'D CHASE
[Entering from Luminous Vale]
After the taxing detour off the beaten path in the woods, all to find a couple of runaway ducklings, it has all finally come to an end. One Farfetch'd was already caught and returned to Sylvester, now it was time to bring the second one home. Though they were both probably well cooked, one via electricity and the other from fire, they should live by a long shot. They'll be aching in the morning, but hopefully it'll be a lesson to them not to go running off again.
"Hey! Sylvester! Sorry for the wait, but we got your dad's other missing Farfetch'd back!"
Approaching the boy in blue, Nadia got the duck that was slumped over her shoulder firmly in both her arms. The motion knocked her bag off her other shoulder and to the mid-section of her arm, which she quickly let down before embracing the Farfetch'd. She approached the boy with a nervous smile.
"I do apologize about the condition that I've brought your dad's Pokemon back in... I know I promised that I'd try to bring them back unharmed, but things just didn't go that way."
While trying to apologize for the sorry state the two birds were in, Chuchu just waltz up with the Farfetch'd's leek in hand, leaning against it like it were a walking stick. She didn't feel bad for the birds: They deserved it. Especially the first one that had tried to hurt Nadia... ooh, that just steamed Chuchu's broccoli and was happy to beat that bird back into its place. Pokemon who disobey their trainers that poorly deserve to be hammered down a few pegs.

Incoming from Luminous Vale
Back, for the third, and hopefully final time. Tanya swatted a branch from her path before whirling lightly to avoid the grabbing, pointy end of another jutting out of a bush, trudging into the clearing. The unconscious Farfetch'd lay limp in her arms, its chest rising and falling the only sign it was even alive after the beating it had sustained.
Starscream landed in front of her, his wings barely stirring the bed of leaves below them as he touched down. The raptor remained where he was, watching Tanya as she passed by and giving Saphira a filthy look that burned holes in the back of her head. She lifted her lip and growled slightly before hustling along closer to Tanya, hesitant to look the bird in the face after that.
"Hey Sylvester, good news! I found the second Farfetch'd. Um, kinda had to knock it around to get the message in that it was time to come home. So here you are," the girl said in a voice loud enough to capture the boy's attention. She laid the bird next to its friend, making sure to drop the leek right next to it before straightening up and turning to face the boy.

After poking his electrified Farfetch'd for a good part of ten minutes and recieving no reply beside the odd spasm, it was becoming clear to Sylvester that his father's Pokemon were proving to be a bit of a pain for this poor trainer who had decided to give him a hand. If Sylvester were to just return home once Nadia had collected the second one, his father will surely have questions as to why he was so late and with two fainted Farfetch'd. He would probably be able to think up a good excuse aswell if this forest wasnt so loud and scary. Even his own feet crunching against the fallen leaves beneath his shoes was making him nervous. All he could do was wait patiently for Nadia, his fingers crossed that she would return around the corner of trees at any moment with his second Farfetch'd in hand.
Keeping a look out for some time, the boy leaped in the air at the sound of a voice approaching him from behind, the hair on the back of his neck standing on end as he turned only to see... Nadia and his second Farfetch'd! Well, even though it seemed like forever to the useless boy who was standing there doing absolutely nothing, the time it took her to retrieve the Pokemon for him was next to nothing. Bowing politely multiple times, Sylvester happily accepted both Farfetch'd and returned them back into their Pokeballs. "Thank you so much for all your hard work! Without you, I would definitely be in so much trouble right now!... Speaking of trouble, I best head back to Azalea before my father comes to find out why I have been gone for so long."
Giving a look of ponder for a moment, he began to fidget inside of his pockets as if looking for something, a pleasing nod suggesting he had found it before removing a small disc like item. "This will really come in handy to get you out of the forest. It's a hidden machine called Cut and whats amazing is that it never runs out like TMs! Heh, cutting down trees will be no problem now. Well, thanks for all your help and seeya around! Good luck with your journey!"
Congratulations!For returning Sylvester's Farfetch'd back, he has awarded Nadia HM01 - Cut!
- - -
Practically jumping out of his skin a little while earlier having a huge metal bird land next to him, the fidgeting and nervous boy attempted a fake laugh and a worried waved to Tanya as she strolled by. Sighing softly to himself once both the female trainer and her scary Pokemon had disappeared back into the wilderness, he slumped by a tree, "I hope she'll find the other ok... If only I wasnt so scared of the forest." At that exact moment, what appeared to be a flock of cooing birds burst from the tree branches above and as they flew off into the sky, hundreds of crisp leaves swung to the ground and well, Sylvester had turned stiff as a statue and as white as a sheet.
Backing himself against a tree trunk whilst looking around frantically and jumping at every natural noise around him, the boy was amazingly able to stay in the forest until Tanya returned for the final time, the sound of metallic wings and the odd grunt making the boy jump, of course, but giving him a sense of relief at the sight of his second Farfetch'd in the female trainers arms. "Ooh thank you! I knew you'd be able to help me out, now I can return these two to my dad." Accepting the avian and now having both Farfetch'd in his possession, he couldnt help but let out a small chuckle at her comment about their condition. "Theres no need to worry about that. The two are stubborn, perhaps this little meeting will make them more interested in listening rather than running off!"
With a wave, Sylvester looked as if he was about to dash off, all until he grinded to a halt and then moved back over to her. Reaching into his pocket, the dark haired male brought out a small disc like item and handed it to Tanya, "I almost forgot! Take this as a thank you. It teaches Cut to a Pokemon and best thing is, it never runs out! Well, you're gonna need to cut your way out of this forest if you plan on heading to Goldenrod anyway... Well, seeya around and thanks again!"
Congratulations!For returning Sylvester's Farfetch'd back, he has awarded Tanya HM01 - Cut!

Over the River & Through the Woods
Ooh, an HM! These things were really nice to have because they could be used time and time again! Too bad all of the TMs in Johto couldn't be like how they made HMs. After all, really a let down for something to break after just one use, right? But word on the grapevine says that over in the Unova region, they perfected creating TMs that could be used many times over without breaking... lucky.
"Oh, thanks for the HM, Sylvester!" Nadia said with a rosy smile. "I'm sure this'll be put to good use! And good luck to you too: Hope these Farfetch'd won't give you much trouble anymore!"
Taking her leave, Nadia turned to Cheeky and had him go back above the tree level to scout ahead. And with Chuchu on her shoulder, she was finally ready to follow the road into the forest. It wasn't a very long time looking for the birds, but it felt like it had taken months to get this cumbersome task done. Ah well, it all seemed to be worth it in the end: Nadia got a very rare HM for her troubles, after all! Now, who to use it on? She contemplated this as she advanced deeper into the woods.

Having recently acquired the Hive Badge from Bugsy and returning to the Pokemon Centre close by with champion Kirin by her side, Sharada knew that it was time to get a bit more serious. Thanking the nurse who healed up her team, the brunette spend bit of time at the PC to have a quick switch around to give her lesser members a bit more attention and more frequently used a well deserved break. But it wasn't just Pokemon on her mind but rather the few people of which she kept in contact with. There was nothing from Joe nor Looker due to her stern words of making sure the two of them kept as distant as possible but there was infact something from her parent. Their kind and caring words pulling a number of heart strings deep inside of her but just for now, she decided to side step from messaging them back and instead shut down immediately.
With a spin off her seat and new team on her belt, Sharada wrapped her woolly scarf around her neck as she stepped outside to brave the winter weather before taking a rather suspicious dive along the back of the building to begin plotting her next route. Hesitantly lighting up a cigarette, feeling a little guilty for polluting the clean air with the addicting fumes, Sharada tugged out her Poketch from her bag and began looking into the next Rocket mission, hopefully her final one which would fully allow her to become a Grunt.
Reading it out loud to herself quietly, her words were muffled a little due to the smoke perched between her lips, "Travel to Slowpoke Well and join the others.. yadda yadda yadda... Hmm?" Frowning a little upon the mention of needing an item by the name of Cut, she fell abit stumped. She didnt have such a thing and just where it could be was far beyond her. "Ahh bugger this.." She grunted, shoving away her gadget and stomping the end of the cigarette into the ground before merging back in with the dirt paths of the town.
Walking in the opposite direction from Slowpoke Well, Sharada decided to take a different course of action by exploring the local forest. If she couldnt get this 'Cut' then atleast she could perhaps catch one or two things which would interest her. Her feet led her to the gate house which seemed to separate the town from the forest and whilst passing through the guards with little to no problem, the brunette pushed open the door only to find herself walking straight into the forest's entrance. Being welcome by nothing but clean air and foliage, the haste which was once in her steps immediately slowed down, her eyes taking in all of her surroundings carefully. "So this is Ilex Forest. I wonder what creatures are lurking between these branches."
Feeling the rays of the sun beam between the odd gaps between the trees, Sharada turned what seemed to be a corner only to see another person lingering in the forest. But this one was a bit odd, he appeared to be her age but in a very deep panic. There was no way that he could be lost since the entrance was practically behind her. Rolling her eyes, she took it upon herself to approach him, coughing loudly to get his attention. "Hey, need a bit of help, buddy?" She called out before standing herself close by, "If you're lost the exit is back that way but with how stressed out you look I'm guessing it's a tad more serious."

Sylvester knew this was bad. Really, really bad. Kat had been calling him Sylvan the last three posts his boss’s Farfetch’d…how the hell had he managed to lose them? He had only turned his back for what must have been two minutes, to get something off the ground, and both of them disappeared. Placing his hands over his face, he let out a soft groan, annoyed with himself. What the hell Sylvester, how did you lose two noisy creatures like those Farfetch’d?! He didn’t know what he was supposed to do now, the boss was going to skin him alive and eat him with chips and dip or…something like that. Cursing himself, he decided he was doomed. When Sharada spoke, he jumped up, spazzing out and backing up a bit. When he saw it was a girl and not his boss, he physically relaxed. He was safe to live another three minutes. “Can you help me? Of course you can! At least…I think so. You see, I work in the Charcoal Kiln in Azalea town, and I came out here to chop logs for the Kiln with my bosses Farfecth’d… but here’s the thing…” he trailed, letting his voice come back to him before he continued. “I lost them, I turned my back for two seconds and they left…you don’t know how grateful if you’d find them for me…” he said, his eyes a bit pleading as he did so. “They could be anywhere, but probably not too far away, I just lost them after all.” ___________________________________________________ Quest Encounter

[ Talking to Sylvester ]
Jumping back in unison with Sylvester as he proceeded to freak out about whatever was on his mind alongside being startled by the female, she tensed up at just how worried this guy was. Not really much of a people person, she was finding it difficult to think up the right words to calm him down but as it became obvious he had mistaken her approaching as someone else, she too began to feel relaxed as he stopped his frantic mumbling. Sighing with relief that this guy wasn't a total random idiot who she had wrongly approached, the brunette instead too in his problem, resting her chin in her fingertips as she looked on with intrigue.
"So, you're saying you lost a pair of Farfetch'd and need help finding them?" Tutting mutely to herself, she really had landed into a great big waste of time. Finding Pokemon in this huge area was hardly going to easy but she couldnt flat out reject him either. Letting out a tiresome sigh, she nodded her head to him, "Well, I can hardly turn you down I guess and you dont look equip enough to travel into a forest full of wild Pokemon. Well, especially since your own decided to skedaddle on you." Contemplating a bit more, Sharada noticed multiple routes in which she could take, all of which looked incredibly long and time consuming. "Yeah, why not. I can do a bit of Farfetch'd hunting in your place."
Pointing in each direction and muttering some sort of rhyme to decide which way she should explore first, her pointed finger seemed to land on the path to the left. Taking a step forward, Sharada turned her gaze back to Sylvester and gave him a curt nod, "No need to worry. I know what its like to have a dad with high expectations of their children, hahaha! My name is Sharada, by the way. Tracking things down isnt exactly my game but there is always a new time for everything." Waving a single hand to him, the brunette disappeared into the wilderness.

She smiled despite his surprise and shook her head slightly, causing her auburn hair to fall into her face. Brushing it back, Tanya spared a glance at the birds. "I hope they don't give you anymore trouble. Maybe keeping a piece of metal on hand will remind them of the defeat they received from Ironhide and straighten them out," the girl offered with a chuckle. Saphira was watching the birds quietly, her sapphire eyes unblinking. Perhaps she too was waiting for one to leap up and try to zig away.
When Sylvester pressed the disc into her hands, she subtly moved her arm and dipped her fingers into his pocket, plucking a slim piece of glossy paper from it hopefully without his notice. That Groudon card was too nice to pass up. It was in her pocket without anyone being any wiser, and a warm smile was plastered on her face as she thanked the boy for the gift. He soon was out of sight, leaving her to her own devices.
Releasing Ironhide from his ball, Tanya inserted the HM into her 'dex and taught the small Aron Cut, replacing Mud Slap in his arsenal. Pleased with her work, she quickly followed Sylvester out of the woods and stopped by the Azalea Pokémon Center. A quick swap of one party member and she was back in the woods. Starscream sighed as he gazed around the endless trees, wondering if they were closer to leaving for the next town.
"Okay amigo, time to lead us in one direction we haven't gone yet," Tanya told her bird, shrugging her coat on and buttoning it up. The hurricane had moved off and left a chill in its wake, forcing her to dig out the jacket from her bag. With a caw he sprang into the air, turning to one side and gliding forwards silently with Tanya and Saphira following in his wake.

Sandy Katayko The scars of your love... ------------------------------------------------
The soft crumpling of the leaves under her feet made Sandy shiver. It reminded her of how much she loved fall. The forest looked amazing during this time of year, though she didn’t want to be in here forever. She and Hotaru had managed to get a hold of the first Farfetch’d, and now she’d bring it back to Sylvester so he hopefully wouldn’t wind up with a heart attack.
Upon seeing the young man, she looked down at the Farfetch’d that lay knocked out in her arms. She exhaled deeply and walked over to Sylvester, gently tugging at his shirt since he hadn’t actually see her coming. She dumped the Farfetch’d into his arms, with a light smile on her face.
“We had to rough it up a bit I’m afraid, but we got it for you. We just have to find the other one.” With a wave, she walked passed him, up through a path she hadn’t been down before. She did like the smells of the forest, but where she was going might have been a little less inviting to a girl like herself.
