"Sylvester!" the ranger called with relief, raising a hand to greet the other from a distance. He was so glad to be back here, the forest beginning to fall into the dark of the diminishing sun. "I'm so sorry it took so long but... here you go: the second farfetch'd." He must have looked quite the wreck. Between the several trips, sliding down into the gloomy ravine, getting smacked by countless tree branch, and falling into several bushes it probably seemed he was trying to blend into the forest at this point. Various parts of his close brushes with nature still clung heavily to his clothing as he finished his approached; stopping right by the apprentice woodcutter. [break][break]
After a small sigh he handed over the unconscious duck, grateful the little guy hadn't woken during the trek back despite the amount of time it had taken him. Damien wouldn't have been as considerate if he'd had to of gone and chased after it again. [break] "I hope I didn't delay you too much." Booker took a seat at Damien's side. He gave a big yawn, mouth stretching wide and long before the hound took to staring quietly up at the two humans. He and the ranger both were quite ready for some R&R after today.

Sylvester had spent the past hour or so examining the first of the Farfetch'd with a moderately concerned look on his face. The duck was most certainly unconscious and, if it didn't hurry up and return to its normal, mischievous self, the young man would have a lot to explain when he got back home. Exactly how he was going to excuse having both of these Pokémon faint was beyond him. He didn't want to imagine the look of disappointment on his father's face when he'd tell him that he couldn't control these pesky birds. Perhaps he'd try saying that he got into a battle with them instead. It would be incredibly irresponsible and he'd be in a lot of hot water, but at least he'd keep his dignity somewhat intact. Nevertheless, it'd be much simpler if the poor thing would wake up, and Sylvester continued to poke and shake it in hopes of seeing it rouse. Hearing Damien's voice, Sylvester leapt to his feet and looked in the direction of the young ranger. Once he saw the trainer's face, his heart skipped a beat and he waved back eagerly. "Damien! I am so glad to see you, my friend!" He ran up to meet his helper, gratefully receiving the second Farfetch'd and cradling it in his arms. He ran his gaze up and down Damien's body, frowning. "Just... look at you though. I'm sorry you had to go through so much just to save my sorry hide. I won't ask what happened while you were gone, but I appreciate your help so much. At least now I won't have to return home without my father's partners. Thanks again." He walked back slowly to place the Farfetch'd down with the first one, taking care to put it in a somewhat comfortable position before he eventually left it be. He stood back up straight and turned to face Damien, reaching into his coat pocket. "As for the 'delay', don't worry about it. Without you, we'd have been delayed even more. Now, for your reward." He pulled out the same disc that he had shown the ranger earlier and offered it to him proudly. "Here you go, sir. This is HM01, which teaches Cut. Just as I promised earlier. I'm sure you'll be able to make good use of it. In fact, it'll probably help you get through this forest a little quicker. Though, I should warn you, I've been told that moves from HMs are quite hard for Pokémon to forget. Apparently the only way is to travel to Ecruteak and... I forget the rest. But anyway, here you go." Once he'd handed over the HM, Sylvester would pick up his two Farfetch'd, one under each arm, and walk off into the distance. As he did, he mumbled something about a Pokémon Centre and 'guts for garters'.
Quest complete!
Sylvester has given Damien HM01, Cut as thanks!

The tag broke and i'm at work but Lamont made this give them all the LUV
-
Proceeding to Dense Thicket (hard to see at bottom)
| | With the Cut HM in hand, Rhoan was finally prepared to slog through the hell that was Ilex Forest. Many tales of trainers getting lost (heh, suckers) or injured (also suckers) had reached her, but she wasn't too terribly worried. Her Pokemon had been well rested for the trip, now all that was required was actually doing it. Rhoan groaned to herself. The last thing she wanted to do was actually embark on this hellish journey. Who in the hell wanted to spend an entire day trudging through the forest? Gritting her teeth, Rhoan tightened a strap on the flank of her Tauros. Ares snorted and pawed at the ground with a hoof. He could sense Rhoan's discontent, and mirrored it grumpily. "Relax. We're only here a while. Sooner we get through here, the sooner we're out and on the other side. Plenty of other things to worry about when we get there." She patted the side of the bull to reinforce her point.
With the last of her supplies packed, Rhoan hopped up onto Ares and clicked her heels against his flank. With that, they were off. Ares knew better than to exhaust himself, especially within somewhere so big. They were only just beginning and the mouth of Ilex forest hung over them like a giant maw ready to swallow them up. "Too bad I can't just fly over there. Doesn't your evolution have wings?" Rhoan asked absentmindedly down at Tyrana, who was trudging along beside Ares. The flame on her tail burned bright in a moment of agitation, but she nodded all the same. "Noted." Tyrana wasn't strong enough yet for something like that, but her time would come. No need to rush it. "I expect for it to get pretty dark so you're lighting the way, if you don't mind Tyrana. Besides, you always did like to lead the expedition, even as a Charmander."
Now wasn't the time to get wistful as they entered Ilex, but it couldn't be helped. Rhoan knew she was changing, not necessarily in a bad way. From her rough and tumble nature in Oblivia she had to evolve to a new type of Pokemon handling. In doing so, she was able to entertain the ideas of stronger Pokemon. Things she could capture or raise without having to physically be able to overpower with the use of traqs or rope. While she used the Pokemon to get her work done here, she knew she wouldn't be able to do it without them, thus giving them the respect they deserved, much like a gun or any other weapon. Treated with care. Most of them had fire or horns, afterall.
Tyrana paid no mind to Rhoan, instead walking forward before glancing at the path ahead. There were going to be turns and twists. As much as Tyrana enjoyed leading, the final call always went to Rhoan. "Couple of directions, eh? Forward. Does that say Dense Thicket? Yeah, go that way." Rhoan motioned forward, and Tyrana trudged obediently. Ares snorted, pawed at the ground, and followed suit.

[nospaces] "Haha! Well, don't worry about that Silvester," the young lad chuckled to hide his embarrassment, throwing a hand to hold his hat as if the secret of his clumsiness throughout the forest paths would be revealed should it fall off. "It was no trouble at all. Hopefully the farfetch'd don't cause you any more trouble; at least in the short term," he added, eyes trailing after the other boy's form to set the second bird with the first. A curious tilt of Damien's head hinted toward his thoughts on the current state of the first farfetch'd. Maybe the little guy, after running to the safety of Silvester, had tuckered himself out and passed into a relieved sleep after Damien left. He smiled. [break] [break] "Oh right, are you sure..?" he began quietly, quite pleased to receive such a great gift for his work but he didn't do it for a reward. Regardless, the ranger's hand reached out to accept the item. He nodded along with Silvester's explanation of the disc and gave his thanks. [break] "Good luck!" he called after Silvester as the blue garb disappeared around the forest bend. The ranger took a deep breath, letting the forest air pump up his lungs and release. The pressure was refreshing. "Well boy..." he began, kneeling down to pet Booker. "I suppose we should head out too. It'll be no good to be wandering around here in the dark." He paused, recalling some of the scary stories he was told as a child. Part of him was curious to see if they were true. Now that he had a great team of pokémon by his side a few ghosts shouldn't be too much of a problem right? He even traveled with one such type. Though, Alexis was much different than any ghost he'd read or heard about so he didn't really feel like that should count as much experience with the ethereal beings. [break] [break] "C'mon boy. Let's go bum a night at home again." The canine barked happily, tail wagging rapidly as the herdier scuttled forward along the path to the exit; the ranger close behind. [break] [break] ~~~ [break] Another day, another attempt to make it through Ilex. His clothes were still somewhat of a mess from yesterday. His mother had laughed at him when he'd arrived home in the eve. 'It's just like when you two were kids,' she commented. Though, this time, she didn't bother to do a proper clean of the garb and Damien agreed. It'd be a waste of effort considering he was just going straight back in here the next day. Hopefully this time there would be less bird chasing though. [break] [break] As he reached the crossroads marking the beginning of his Ilex ventures he was happy to see no sign of Silvester. The poor guy surely didn't need another repeat of yesterday either, and hopefully he hadn't gotten in too much trouble thanks to those pesky farfetch'd. The ranger looked around the area, considering the paths that he'd seen and taken in the previous day. With the new HM mov he'd acquired from Silvester he figured why not try the denser route this time. He'd gotten some tips from his mother on how to navigate through this maze, and thicker was the way to go. [break] [break] Damien pulled out a pokéball and released his young treecko, Jade, into the wood. She chirped quietly and beamed up at him, seemingly quite pleased to be surrounded by trees. [break] "Hey there Jade. We've got some work to do through this forest and I need you to help me out, kay?" He'd leaned over a bit, putting his hands on his knees as he spoke to the grass pokémon. She nodded agreeably and awaited instructions. Damien smiled then waved for her to follow him down the road, watching the bushes thicken and stretch across the way; slowly pressing in. -coming from enchanted orchard-Carrying the Farfetch'd and having come back to see Sylvester's house again, Penelope was glad that she could at least drop off the first bird, while she went back out to find the other. She walked closer to the house, and had Potato knocked on the door with his big ears. When the young man answered, she excitedly told him about the stealthy Farfetch'd. "Wow, this Farfetch'd was strong! I just found one so far, but I will be back to find the other one! This is the first one." She handed over the passed out avian in his arms, and then waved as she walked away with her Pokemon toward somewhere else in the forest to find the last bird. -going to Luminous Vale-

Things had been a little hectic recently, considering working with Commander on such short notice, followed by having to go assist her mother with a particular situation back home. Some of the Miltank had stumbled upon some abandoned Pokemon, and Sam was helping move them from the farm to a local Daycare that would find homes for them. The poor things were afraid and hungry, but with their help they'd soon be back on their feet.
One particular Pokemon had taken a liking to Sam, though, and when she'd passed by the egg violently exploded. Literally. There had been a flash of light from the egg that had been used as a paperweight (Seriously, they thought it was fake at that point. It had been so long!) and once everyone had picked themselves up off the ground from dodging the smoking eggshell, the little Riolu was standing in place staring directly at Sam.
Almost like she was seeing through the girl.
Something about the strange pup intrigued Sam, but she didn't worry about it too much. The daycare staff were more than pleased to see the egg hatched and insisted Sam take the Pokemon, the girl knowing little about how rare the little pup was. Sam took her in and yet again the Pokemon of her team fought about who would sit on Sam's shoulder and other nonsense like that.
That being said, Sam was finally progressing again. She'd already taken down the Gym for Azalea, so now it was time to progress through Ilex. Gear at the ready and with a new friend (and a new fire cat to light the way!) they were finally off. "I hope you guys are as excited as I am!" Sam murmured to her belt, looking at all of the Pokeballs strapped to it. Only Anapa, the newest addition to their quest, remained outside of a ball. She was quiet and preferred to be babied, but only slightly. The world was so big and so new, she'd often reach up for Sam's hand while they walked. Something about the pup was still off, but Sam wasn't sure. She almost felt as though the pup were seeing straight through her, looking past her at something else. Perhaps she just really ruled at staring games. All that aside, it was time to go.
"Don't worry Anapa. We won't let anything happen to you!" Sam reassured, grinning. How far she and her Pokemon had come since day one!
Ready for Sylvester.

Not far into the forest, where Sam and her newest addition would be shortly walking into, stood a rather anxious figure. He ran a hand through his already tousled dark hair, expression anguished as he paced back and forth on the spot. Oh, Kurt would be so angry if he found out what had happened when he'd taken his eyes of them for one measly second. 'Ilex Forest is a natural maze, kid. These two do good work, but they need watching, lest they decide to sneak off and get themselves lost. Be careful in there,' Kurt had warned just before he had set out for the forest. Groaning anew, the young man was ready to completely wallow in his misery when he heard the distinctive sound of feet approaching. And not just one set, but two, one lighter than the other. Hope was a shiny coin in his eyes as he looked up to see Sam and her Riolu, and he called out to her before his could stop himself.
"Miss! Please, could I ask a moment of your time?" he began, trying not to fumble his words in his eagerness to beg her help. "I'm in quite a spot of trouble. See, my boss gave me his two Farfetch'd to come get some wood, only, well, they kinda ran off on me when I turned my back. If I don't get them back soon, not only is my hide on the line, but Azalea will suffer for it too. They're cheeky, infuriating even, but they contribute a lot to the town." He paused to take a breath, and to let his audience digest some of what he'd said, before plowing on. "Oh, right, my name is Sylvester. I don't know who you are, but you're a trainer if I'm not mistaken. I hate burdening a total stranger with this, but I don't have any Pokemon of my own to venture out and look for those birds."
Sylvester gave her a little more time to hear him out, hoping this trainer would be willing to help. Inspiration struck, and he reached into his clothing to pull out a gleaming silver disc that reflected the light that pierced the forest's canopy, lifting it to show Sam. "I can make it worth your while, with this HM. It's Cut, and it's very handy for getting through the forest, something any trainer would be glad for I bet," Sylvester said, smiling tentatively at his company. "If you do want to help, I saw one of those Farfetch'd heading towards this spot where I swear the pine cones grow super big. The other one went towards somewhere where the foliage is a bit more brown and red, and I've heard a strident bird call there before." He finished speaking at last, waiting with baited breath for Sam's reply and prayed fervently he could have a stroke of good luck here.
Sylvester requests your help in recapturing his wayward Farfetch'd! Bring them back one at a time or as a pair for a reward!

Sam had been startled by the boy, but Anapa kept a level head and simply looked up at him. She was quiet, but didn't seem to stir or shy away so Sam assumed he was good enough to not have to worry about. "Oh! Hiya!" The startled girl had stammered out, but before she had any time to say anything else Sylvester was spilling out his tale and requesting her help. He needed his two birds back? Oh, not his birds, someone elses birds. Well, that definitely put him in a bind and Sam assumed she'd at least be able to help. "Oh man, that's really rough, i'm so sorry!"Clearing her throat, she picked up Anapa and let her sit on her shoulder. "I just started being a trainer, so I can totally understand Pokemon getting out of control. I still have one of those. To be able to normally corral those birds is a true gift. I'll go look for them for you. I'm sure Anapa can help too, right girl?" She turned her head to look at the Riolu, who simply nodded her head once. No yip, totally silent. Sam looked back up at Sylvester with a wide grin. "Consider your birds found!" After saying her goodbye to Sylvester - who seemed like a nice kid - she started down the path again. Honestly, any extra time in Ilex was fine. She'd need the training anyways. Her Pokemon were itching for battle, especially newly evolved Commander, so who was she to deny him? "Awesome. Anapa, which way do you think we should go? We're looking for big Pinecones and orange and brown. I guess we'll probably have to wander..." The trainer trailed off while Anapa pointed down a path marked 'Luminous Vale.' "What, this way?" She asked, giving the Riolu a little scratch under her chin. "Alright, if you say so!" Changing her path, Sam trudged down the Luminous Vale path in hopes it'd either have her Farfetch'd prize or at least a way to get to them. She was worried she'd get lost, but Anapa seemed so confident... perhaps the pup knew something she didn't. The way she stared off into the distance the way she did, it was almost like she saw through the trees, underbrush and what-not all the way to Goldenrod. If she could teleport or if Sam could walk through trees then they'd probably be able to beeline with how hard she was staring. Hey! That was super welcome here. Helped Sam feel less incompetent for sure. "Farfetch'd here we come!"-Exiting to Luminous Vale-Accepting Quest, heading out to Luminous Vale

With the quest seemingly done, Ororo drags her tired body to another adjunct of a most mysterious forest. Due to the plethora of trees and mysterious plants, it’s no wonder it takes travelers forever to get from one place to another. The density of this bug filled area was incredibly thick; one had a very difficult time seeing any point of entry or exit.
The humidity in this joint was making the sweat on her forehead leak down, dripping off her nose and cheeks. What was left to say? This quest was certainly a time-consuming distraction to her research and adventure. Luckily, she was nearing Sylvester with the ducks writhing around in her bag.
“Okay, I’ve found your ducks. They certainly are quite the rambunctious Pokemon.” She said politely, but still astonished that suck a small bird could give these trainers such a troubling predicament. The water enthusiast crossed her fingers and hoped that she could finally move on with her journey; she had bigger fish to fry. ((Adding 168 words to my incubator! Sylvester was so glad to see Ororo return with his Farfetch'd. He had been terribly worried the whole time she was gone not sure if she would succeed in finding them or not. He had no idea what he would have done had she not succeded in finding them both in one piece. The young man reached into his pockets and pulled out a HM containing the move cut and handed it to her as a reward for all of her hard work. As he placed the item in her hand he began to cry tears of joy mknowing that things were going to be alright. He managed to pull himself together long enough to explain what he had just given her as he wiped his eyes. " This is the Hidden Machine containing the move Cut. My family has master this move for generations now and I believe it will help you on your quest. Using this move you should be able to go deeper into the forest and from.there be able to reach Goldenrod City. I seriously cannot thank you enough for the help." After he finished explaining the move he picked up the two Farfetch'd ready to make them work double time for all the trouble they caused. He had a lot of work left to do and with their safe return he could finally get it done. Sylvester gives you HM01 Cut. Quest Complete.

Ooc: Current time, night probably around 10:00pm for Avila
Bic: Who knew it could get so dark out like this? Avila could hardly see as she had her flash light, although it was a bit sorry and shabby looking from things. She looked around wondering if she should've sent Blazebit or Pyrrhus to get a better look at things here, their fire was probably twice the strength of the flash light. "Blazebit come out! I feel a bit safer with you being around." She pointed out as she tossed the pokeball into the air. The red lizard appeared in a bright flash as he adjusted his eyes, maybe inside the pokeball it was a bit brighter than the situation out side in the forest. He looked confused, but as he remembered it, Avila had pointed out that they were going to the forest next. As Blazebit figured out that part, he thought he heard something.
"Blazebit, where are you going?" She asked as she ran after her Charmeleon as they moved deeper into the forest, the Charmeleon had heard something not far off. It sounded like a cry of a pokemon that she hadn't seen before, "Kwuall!" It called out. The sharp cry as a flutter of wings could be heard in the distance, unfortunately, Blazebit startled the creature as it flapped its wings and disappeared further in the forest. Blazebit looked disappointed that they weren't able to do anything about it. Whatever that pokemon was, it looked like the creature didn't belong here...wait a minute was it another bird pokemon? She knew that bird pokemon typically had wings-that was pretty much common sense.
As Blazebit came out from the bushes he noticed that they weren't alone, besides the bird pokemon there was another human out here who looked just as lost as they were. Avila thought it wouldn't hurt to help out. "Hello? Is everything alright?" She asked, as she hadn't realized that this was Slyvester the person who owned the pokemon who just darted out of sight. "I am lost, I guess that makes us on equal ground. Maybe we can help each other?" She asked as her Blazebit stayed by her side. He was quite the loyal pokemon. Though he could be stubborn and brash sometimes, Avila trusted her pokemon that they wouldn't cause any danger or trouble for others. Sometimes however that's not always the case, some pokemon liked to cause trouble.

The other individual was pacing back and forth, muttering to himself with his hands rubbing the sleeves of his shirt. It was the best he could to do stave off the settling cold of the growing night. His thoughts kept him rather occupied as Avila approached. It was only when she called out to him that he realized her presence. "Ah! Wh-Who's there?" The boy jumped back, spinning around with a crackle of leaves under the foot he used to pivot. He squinted at the light provided by the charmeleon coming up the path alongside the girl. His fright quickly washed away with the break from darkness, his next footsteps being a rush toward the friendly visitor. "Oh thank Arceus you came by," he began, a sigh of relief creating a pause. "I know the forest fairly well actually, but... I have a different kind of problem. So I guess we could help each other out here!" A smile spread across his face shortly after a brief shiver. It was clear this guy was not at all prepared to be out here at this time of night. He didn't have a flashlight, nor any real gear on him at all from the looks of it. There was a noticeable lack of pokéballs as well. "My name's Sylvester. I'm not really a pokémon trainer but... You see I uh, I kinda 'lost' some pokémon that were lent to me and I cannot return without them. E-Even if it means sticking around this cursed place with the sun down," he added darkly. There was a second where it looked like he was going to then question why in the world Avila would be here considering all the ghost stories surrounding Ilex, but the boy gulped it down and decided not to pry. "Since I don't have any pokémon of my own I'm really stuck. I can't risk traveling around Ilex alone to get them. That's a one way ticket to encountering a wandering spirit for sure. So... will you help me? It's a pair of Farfetch'd, really mischievous birds. You shouldn't have too much trouble spotting them if they're nearby as they stand out like a sore thumb; even if they didn't constantly draw attention to themselves."
"If you can find both of them and bring them back to me then I'll give you directions to get through the forest safely. As well, I have this special HM that Kurt uses called Cut. It'll be invaluable for navigating this place. So what do you say?" Though, with barely giving Avila any time to respond he continued, "One of the Farfetch'd ran off pretty far away to a section of forest you can find a lot of furry pokémon. The other went to a nice section of forest that isn't too bright but manages to attract a wide variety of species. There's a rare one in there that makes its own clothes! Haha!" He attempted to push his thoughts further away from the looming haunt of the evening forest. Sylvester requests your help in finding and bringing back two Farfetch'd! Bring them back one at a time or as a pair for a reward!

She felt bad for startling Sylvester at first, that wasn't her intention of doing that, but he seemed to recover himself rather quickly. Perhaps the eerie forest had given some help into causing him to be spooked like that? As Sylvester spoke up he explained how he was missing two bird pokemon called Farfetch'd, she had seen a brown bird pokemon go through here recently and she wondered if that was the one? Charmeleon watched Sylvester as well but he didn't make a move as he too listened to what he had to say in human tongue, apparently this was going to be some sort of deal set up. Avila needed directions, yes, she wasn't native to Ilex Forest, so it would help. And she'd be able to help Sylvester in return to find the Farfetch'd, they were somewhere in the forest, and she knew with her pokemon and with the win backing them up from the Azalea Gym they'd have no problem going through it. "Sounds like a pretty good deal if you ask me. I'd be willing to help you find your pokemon." Avila said as she put her hands on her hip at the sounds of ghosts? "You say there are ghosts and spirits here? I know this may sound strange but I really like ghost stories and such. Most people would run away from a haunted building but I'd go right ahead into it." She pointed out. Not to mention there might be ghost pokemon in there that are waiting to be captured. The most familiar and famous ghost pokemon she'd like to catch was a ghastly or even a Duskull to add to her party. "And you say there's a pokemon that weaves it's own clothing? That sounds interesting too, if I do happen to spot it or even capture it I'll let you know. I'm a trainer myself." Avila admitted knowing the dead give away was her Charmeleon at her side. Blazebit nodded knowing that trainers came in all shapes and sizes, it was easy to tell sometimes who they were. "So we've got two hints, one went out into a part of the forest where a lot of furry pokemon are. And another went into the part of the forest where it is very bright? We'll keep those in mind too." Avila said with a soft nod. "Well then we better get going and find them." She said. The idea of using cut was certainly going to be helpful. There were plenty of prickly looking pine trees and brush in the way that a pokemon with sharp claws or razor items could cut through with ease. "Alright Sylvester, next time you see us we should come back with at least one of the Farfetch'd. Come on Blazebit." Avila said motioning for her Charmeleon to follow after him and he did obeying her. Something was going to tell her that this forest wasn't going to be a piece of cake. There were dangers around every corner, and she took the young man's warning pretty well. Enter Luminous Vale

Note: Sacred Fire , you must use the images to navigate the forest. Mahogany Knoll does not connect to Shady Glen; you must pass through Luminous Vale. ~L Ooc: Took the post down, I'll post it back up once I go through Luminous Vale. Is cool, you don't have to have an encounter in each ilex location. You just need to pass through it; for future reference. ~L

-Coming in from Luminous Vale - "Oh yeah. I DEFINITELY know where we are!" Sam exclaimed as they stepped into the glen. Anapa nodded silently behind her, seemingly in a better mood. It wasn't that she wasn't in a good one, but she seemed in much better spirits. Even just walking the bit of Ilex with Sam seemed to warm her up to the trainer. "Man, I have no doubt we'll have to do it all again soon. But maybe AFTER some training. I figure you've waited and seen enough. The team is really skilled, and I know you're just itching to get started with your training too. I have the perfect idea in mind, as well." Sam said, heaving the Farfetch'd over her other shoulder to give her left one a rest. Anapa nodded happily, letting out a little grunt of acknowledgement. Baby steps. "Now, about that Sylvester guy... I wonder if he's still around? I think he was at the mouth of the Glen. Like, RIGHT where we came in at." Sam mused, picking up the last Farfetch'd from Anapa. She could carry both the rest of the way to give the pup some rest. Anapa just walked alongside Sam, little paw holding the side of her jeans as if she were holding a hand. It was pretty cute. Honestly, it was super easy to forget that Anapa was a new hatchling. Practically still a baby. She was adjusting well though, despite her silence. "Ah, I think he might be up there..." Sam quickened her pace towards where she thought Sylvester was, in hopes of giving him the birds and getting OUT of the forest.
