Justin watched with anticipation as the ball wiggled to and fro. Although the battle had been somewhat one-sided, that didn't change the fact it was a nail biter all the same. Pineco were famous for their... explosive tendencies, so it would be best for everyone involved if that didn't happen. Thankfully, that wasn't an issue as the ball slowly ceased it's glow, signifying a successful capture. Capona let out a hearty caw, and flapped her wings to take flight as she cheerfully celebrated her win against the pine cone. Justin chuckled at his bird's flighty antics, and sent the Pokemon to the PC, where he'd be released into the Conservation center until Justin found a place for it.
"Capona, C'mere!"
Justin called out to her, and the bird flew a large arc before returning to her trainer, landing perfectly on his head. She began to preen his hair affectionately while Justin scratched Simba behind his ears.
"Thanks to you two, another successful capture. And, also, avoided explosions. Those are always the worst."
The blonde trainer chuckled and swatted at Capona.
"Hey, i'm fond of you too, but yer claws are hurtin'!"
Justin whined, and Capona gave one last click of her beak before gliding to the ground beside Justin. Surreo went back to whatever he was doing, while the other Pokemon gathered around Justin. He was digging inside one of his bags, and when he looked up, his campsite was already prepared.
"Man, you guys are the best!"
Grinning from ear to ear, each Pokemon in his team got some form of affectionate scratch, pat, hug, fist bump, whatever it was. Even Dayn, who was currently asleep around a tree, got a pat.
"Guess this means it's chow time, right?"
When Justin returned to his bag, all eyes went wide when he pulled out the food. And not just any food. The good food. The human food that Justin only let them eat occasionally. So, of course, it was a celebration. Rhoan was very willing to lend her fiery moves to start a fire so Justin could start cooking, while the Pokemon salivated or helped best way they can. Even shy little Freyja, who had been hiding over close to the tent was with the group as well.
"Won't take me long to finish this up, then we'll chow down!"
Justin felt his own stomach rumble with the might of a thousand storms. Yeah, this food needed to happen pronto.

With a thin trail of smoke rising from the camp fire sparked up by Capona, Justin and his team were ready to settle down for a nice meal. Travelling through Ilex Forest was hard work with the numerous paths, twists, turns and falls, it was also very dangerous. Pokemon were also everywhere, so stopping from battle to refill their stomachs and regain some energy was by no means a bad idea. Plus, human food looked and smelt so pleasing, none of them could really complain. As Justin finished up on any preparations and his team were all close by in order to jump in and devour what they could, such a pleasant situation was not going to go by without an intruder or two. After all, they were situated in the centre of a dense forest and the battles that already occurred had drawn in one or two watchful eyes. Now there was even food! The way this was going, the entire team was going to get mobbed by hungry forest dwellers!
Not quite a feared mob but still worrisome in itself due to it's explosive tendencies, a very familiar Pokemon was about to appear. After watching another of it's species being captured, a lone Pineco hid itself amongst the trees, watching the group from afar. Not aware of human devices, the hanging Pineco didn't understand what had just happened. Was the human about to eat it's fellow pine cone? It all seemed strange. With a sudden lunge, the wild Pokemon dropped from the tree, landing onto the forest ground with a bit of a thump. Most likely attracting the attention of Justin's team, the Pineco did not hesitate and quickly began approaching the group, more so Justin to try and stop him from "eating" the other Pineco. Not really paying attention to the fact they were about to eat normal, human food, the Pineco was either brave or stupid to hop straight into his entire team of Pokemon. But maybe it would be scared away when it realised just what type of fearsome Pokemon now surrounded it.

The meat and vegetables sizzled over the grill while Justin and his team began to prepare (and salivate) over their food. Rhoan's fire crackled and popped, and the smoke wafted through the air, attracting all sorts of beasties from the woods. Simba was point guard, his keen eyes scanning the surface for any signs of Pokemon trouble. However, as the night fell, even though the Pokemon had no issues seeing in many conditions, the smell of the delicious food and the delicious smoke made for an unfortunate distraction.
"Okay, so, I know some of you guys don't like meat, so I made a few vegetables for you."
On a plate donned with a few electric bolts (hey, they were on sale) Justin placed the vegetables on the ground for Freyja to reach. He'd mentioned 'a few' liked vegetables, but it really only meant Freyja. The rest of the team, and Justin included, enjoyed their meat, and certainly not pinecones. The food was divvied out due to size. Which meant Dayn got a bit more, but ended up swallowing his entire steak with one gulp. Capona nipped at her meat like she'd be cleaning a kill from a Ratatta or some other Pokemon, while Surreo used his arms to slice strips in neat, delicate motions. Rhoan stuffed her face with fish, considering steak was a bit too close to you-know-what, while Simba recieved a bit of steak as well. Completely and utterly distracted at this point, it wasn't until the Pineco thumped to the ground that it was noticed by anyone on the team. Justin began cutting into his meat, but Simba's growl alerted the man of trouble.
"Oh? Whattsat?"
Justin murmured, mouth full of food. The Pineco approached the team in a worried fashion. Justin wasn't sure why, he wasn't a Pokemon whisperer. But, that definitely would've been cool. No, instead, it seemed as though it were concerned with the food he and the team was eating. Maybe it was hungry? What did Pineco eat? Reaching down to his side, he patted Freyja and took half of a zucchini and stood up to place it in front of the Pineco. It didn't seem angry as much as worried, but if anything did happen, it'd probably be a prompt, messy explosion. "If yer hungry, we've got some fresh veggies and beef. But, i'm not sure what you like, so want a veggie?" Justin returned to his seat, and the rest of the Pokemon returned to their eating.
(Justin fled the battle.)

As Justin and his Pokemon sat down to enjoy a meal off in the distance a wild Pokemon caught the smell of their food and it liked what it smelled. The Pokemon was not known for it's speed or even willingness to move an inch without being forced to but it was willing to make an exception this time around as it was starving and would do anything for a good meal. It slowly crawled out of a tree it had been sleeping in for the past two days and followed it nose towards the source of the wonderful smelling buffet. The Pokemon did not even think it may be a trap or a trainer causing the smell as it was too hungry to care. As the rather lazy Pokemon crawled on the ground it noticed Justin and his Pokemon sitting and eating what looked like a wonderful feast. The sloth Pokemon crawled closer to the group hoping it would not get noticed as it wanted to see what was on the menu before causing a scene. The smell of the vegetables was too much for the small Pokemon to pass up and it slowly made it's way over towards the group hoping it would be handed a plate of food. Before it could even get close to the food however it got a pine needle stuck in it's side a few feet away from Justin and let out a loud "EEEEIIII" as it tried to remove the pine needle. The noise was loud enough that all of Justin's Pokemon had noticed it and Slakoth knew it was not going to have a good day. The hungry Pokemon had a feeling it was not going to get a plate of food very easily and decided it would challenge Justin to a battle to try to earn itself a plate. A Wild level 15 Slakoth has appeared. Please go to your battle here.

The new Pokemon prospect wriggled in the pokeball a few agonizing times. Justin watched as it flitted back, and forth, and back, and forth, and once more until the capsule finally stilled, signalling that his capture attempt was a success. Part of him was relieved because it had only taken a pokeball instead of a stronger ball, such as a Great Ball. He was running low on the little buggers, and that'd be just his luck. The other part of him was relieved that he now had the Slakoth, and he could make up Dayn's little blunder to the creature. Picking up the pokeball, he dusted off some of the dirt and debris that had collected on it before releasing the sloth back into the forest, in front of him.
"Hey buddy. Sorry about that. But, hey, here's that food you wanted. Dig in, and welcome to the team." Justin smile seemed to put the creature at ease, so the Slakoth began to lazily eat at some of the grilled vegetables while Justin turned back to his team to start cleaning things up. "After Slakoth is done eating, we're gonna head out. I don't want ya'll to be offended, but you guys are my main team. I've got a bunch more back at the Conservation Center that I need to train, so i'm going to switch you guys out and let you guys have a little rest before we tackle Whitney, okay? The team might look different, but it's people that you know, so don't worry."
Justin watched the gazes that were placed back at him, and looked at Freyja in particular. He was curious how she'd handle the news. He'd tell her off to the side that she'd stay with him, mainly because she was timid and wouldn't do well in the center, but also because he'd need at least one higher level Pokemon that knew what she was doing. "But let's go ahead and clean up, and we'll make our way, shall we?" The team rumbled in agreement in their own ways, and Justin walked over to Dayn. "Hey, sorry for getting mad at you. I just felt it was an overreaction on your part. But, if that had been a malicious Pokemon, i'm glad that i've got you watching my back." Dayn stared down at his trainer before nodding deeply, and nuzzling the side of Justin's body. I mean, hey, when you're a Gyarados, there's not much room for small inaccuracies like cheeks. The evening flew by and everything was packed up and ready to move. Justin bid farewell to the Pine Gap and headed back to Azalea.

Incoming from Mahogany Knoll
As Mahogany Knoll was put behind them, the pine trees began to dominate the ground here as they led to a large, open space. Around the inner ring stood tall pine trees littered with brown, sloth-like Pokemon. Many of them were sleeping. Some where hanging from branches, lazily reaching for leaves, while others were crawling to the ground. Those that were on the ground where scraching their bellies happily, snoring quite loudly. The strange sight stopped Rhoan and Ares in their tracks. The Slakoth that were awake raised their heads to look at the pair as they entered before turning back to their individual activities. They ranged from eating to sleeping. "... Talk about a lazy Pokemon... these Pokemon move slower than my digestive system!" Rhoan murmured, heaving her leg off to the side to dismount from her bull. Ares snorted and turned his head around, eyes lolling to try and catch a sight of the bird. "Easy, bud. Let me handle this, we've gotta find and catch it, first." Rhoan eased the Tauros forward enough for him to have enough space to romp and kick around before scratching at her hair. The Joltik, receiving the jolt of energy from the static friction from Rhoan's hair, jolted alive with a little peep. "Let's go, Reaver. We've got one more bird to sizzle." She snickered, tying Ares to a tree. The plan was much like the others. However, this time, the trap was hidden with pine needles. Many of the needles littered the ground floor anyway, so there wasn't any difference from the sticky trap versus the rest of the ground. "It's just enough to catch the damn thing in one spot so we can knock it out and take it back." Rhoan reassured the Joltik, whose spit was the sticky rope in question. Retreating to the other side of the Gap, where many of the Slakoth were lazing, Rhoan hid behind a few bushes with Ares and Reaver. All they could do now was wait, and waiting was good enough for Rhoan. She'd trekked all the way here; blowing her cover and mission due to impatience was beyond her. Hatari would have fun, or Reaver... whichever one she could reach first when the bird came into view. A few Slakoth rolled over around her, but she paid them no mind. "Useless Pokemon... what kind of anything even likes you as a species?"-Staying to search for Farfetch'd-

Mahogany Knoll | Farfetch'd hated work, and that was why it had run away. It didn't like cutting trees all day, it was annoying. Sighing, it continued along the path, leek in hand. It didn't know what the big deal about trees was. It never wanted to see another tree again. They were just bothersome now.
It continued hopping along the path at its own pace, enjoying the peace that would very soon be disrupted. Why were there so many Slakoth out here today? It took its leek into its mouth and hopped up onto the branch above it.
That's when it noticed Rhoan. Why was a human poking around in here. Oh no...did his human send for him? No! He wouldn't have it! Farfetch'd hopped down from the branch and cawed in challenge, she needed to go away!-- Sylvester's Farfetch'd (Level 20) has appeared! You can find your battle here |

Hatari's hate and bloodlust was good enough to end the battle quickly, and that was perfect for Rhoan. She watched as the ice encrusted over Hatari's fangs, knocking out the bird and rendering it transportable. The fish continued to hiss and spit angrily, but for the most part, the battle was done. "Hey, calm down, it's over." Rhoan pulled out Hatari's pokeball, threatening to return her if she didn't. Hatari didn't seem to mind, but snapped her jaws angrily. "That blasted bird hit me!""Well yeah, it's a battle. And you beat it. You won." The fish still seemed offended that the Farfetch'd had managed to inflict so much damage to her. "I must get stronger! It will not hit me again, or it will be lunch." Hatari hissed, clenching her jaws before shaking them to rid them of the crusted ice. She then glanced up at Rhoan, completely normal and out of her tantrum. "I can rest now?" "Whatever." Rhoan returned the Carvanha, and walked over to pick up the motionless bird. Ares snorted and stepped from his hiding place, one bird already strapped to his back. "Guess it's hunting season." She murmured, tossing the bird onto the back of the bull. Using a few straps and rope, after a few moments the bird was safe and secure. "C'mon. Let's go back to that Sylvester kid and give him his birds back. I need that cut." She hopped onto Ares's back as well, clicking his hide with her heels to let him know she wanted to go forward. The lazy Pokemon had barely moved from their spots. They did watch her prepare to leave, though. Some scratched their bellies lazily, while others slowly munched on a leaf or two. "Worthless Pokemon. Nobody would pay for you lot." She grunted before exiting the Pine Gap. "We've gotta trek back, but I think it'll be worth it. All these damn trees look the same, so I hope you remember where we're going." Rhoan joked, and Ares grunted and shook his head, the bridle and saddle rattling as metal clinked on metal. "Just kidding. Geez. I shouldn't joke. It doesn't fit me, does it?" Rhoan asked. Ares's flank twitched and the two progressed in silence towards the Mahogany Knoll. The trees became thicker and less pine-y, and more like the stronger trees that dotted and surrounded the knoll. "Knoll, coming up."Exiting to Mahogany Knoll

[nospaces] "Whoa... these things are huge," the young ranger mumbled to himself as his head craned back to stare up at the massive pines. They were patchy though, thin, but Damien wasn't going to complain as this meant light could clean in from the outside world. This meant he could tell he had indeed been in here for quite some time navigating the wood. Boy, he knew Ilex was huge from the outside but having to stumble around root and rock on what could barely be called trails had certainly been an experience. But he wasn't done yet. This was but a warm up of the morning. Once he found the other Farfetch'd and brought it safely back to Sylvester he could begin the real trek through the wood. [break] [break] The thought was as daunting as the looming behemoths stretching into the sky. And so, Damien brought his gaze down and refocused his mind to the more immediate task at hand: catching a particularly mischievous little bird. The brush was so thick here though he doubted he'd be able to get very far. There was certainly no going anywhere but back where he came... He just hoped there weren't any secret dens or little passages that Fafetch'd escaped into. For now he'd just have to search where he could reach. [break] [break] Damien spent quite some time pushing back thickets and spying through bushes, only occasionally looking upward at the jostle of a high branch. He could hear pokémon around but luckily none immediately came to challenge him as he shuffled about. That was until... [break] [break] SLAM! [break] The boy jumped a mile, loosing hold of the branch he'd pushed back and finding his face full of needles. With a cry he fell back, hands going behind him to prevent any serious harm. His nose and cheek stung where the branch slapped him, arms scraped from the loose underbrush nestled against him on the ground, but his first concern was, "What the heck was that!?" The words blurted from his mouth as his chest pounded, eyes wide and searching. Right behind where he'd been standing was a massive pinecone; just like Sylvester had described. [break] [break] Pineco looked rather worse for wear with the fall, or perhaps whatever had made it fall. A bit dazed the pokémon had stars in its eyes as it released a low groan. Damien looked up, trying to see what had caused the pineco to drop. He'd heard the distance chips of Mankey earlier... perhaps one had gotten off a good karate chop? Or maybe Farfetch'd decided to try and cut something other than a tree down. He hoped it was the latter. Word Count: 440

Farfetch'd was quite a contradictory Pokémon. It didn't see any appeal or joy in cutting things for "work", and yet here it was forming a plan to keep people at bay by cutting things. For now, though, it continued to dance through the trees of Pine Gap, managing some incredible feats of agility for its species. If anyone had actually seen any of this, they might have decided that Farfetch'd were better suited for battle than wasting its life away as a lumberjack. Alas, the poor duck Pokémon's antics went largely unnoticed. It dodged Pokémon after Pokémon, trying to keep itself moving as much as possible to keep away from humans for as long as possible. It was really quite a reasonable strategy. Unfortunately for it, though, its plans weren't going to keep it free forever. A certain young man would have something to say about that. Farfetch'd saw this man after a while of its running around. Damien approached from below. Now was the time to commence Operation StFMKbCDBaFE. Or "Stop that F - um - Foolish Meddling Kid by Cutting Down Branches and Forcing Encounters". Farfetch'd wasn't good with names. It waited for Damien to get close, then slashed away at a branch with a Pineco on it, easily sending the Bug type down to the ground. There. That would solve all of his problems. Now that Pineco would keep- wait. No. this wasn't supposed to happen. Pineco wasn't doing its job. It wasn't fighting, and it certainly wasn't exploding. There wasn't even any blunt trauma here. This was bad. Farfetch'd considered running away, but it would be spotted before it could. There was only one thing for it. Operation FfF - Fight for Freedom - was about to begin. Farfetch'd took a moment to congratulate itself on a good, concise acronym before diving down into combat. Sylvester's Farfetch'd (Level 20) was the one that almost murdered Damien! (It swears it didn't want to kill anyone) Please go here to fight it (or flee but, y'know, it's a mandatory quest 'n' all).

[nospaces]
The boy had gotten to his feet, not even bothering to brush the needles and dirt. He'd heard the slice of Farfetch'd final attack but the rest happened so quickly it seemed he'd missed the end. Thankfully Turret had been ready to act; and was the one still standing. Simourv had righted himself, folding in his ruffled feathers and shaking himself free of the brush. Damien's mouth flinched into a frown for half a moment before his fingers found the empty ball belonging to his new bird pokémon. [break] "Th-Thank you Simourv," he began, gaining more of his voice as he continued. "We have to work on your withdrawal habits. You can trust Turret," Damien added with rushed thoughts. He hadn't been too pleased with how the switch out had gone but, with a clearer head he thought he understood at least why the rufflet had been hesitant to retreat. [break] [break]
The wartortle was riveted, pumping his fists into the air in his victory. His bushy tail twitched with excitement, stubby legs carrying him back to his trainer's side. The ranger recalled Simourv in time to rub the smooth bald head of his starter pokémon. "Great job buddy." The young man's eyes drew further along to the fainted farfetch'd. "Now we just need to get this guy back to Sylvester... ..." He trailed off. Now the trick would be remembering where exactly he'd arrived from. [break] [break]
His neck craned upward to view the sky beyond the peaks of needles. "Too bright," he mumbled to himself. There just wasn't enough sky to be seen through the layers of tree. But... he'd learned other ways to navigate in the wilds thanks to his travels; not to mention some tips from his mother who knew the lighter section of forest well. He'd just need to remain calm and work his way out slow and steady. Plus... [break] [break]
Damien called Turret back to his pokéball and replaced his company with Booker. The hound jumped to attention, tail wagging excitedly. "Hey boy. I need you to help me get back to Sylvester okay? Remember the guy with the blue outfit that the last farfetch'd ran away to?" Booker barked affirmatively and began sniffing away. "A bit backwards from your normal hunt," he chuckled to himself as he collected Farfetch'd.

-coming from gleaming hollow-She looked around in this area, maybe this was it. Well, she was also going through the forest and didn't see the other Farfetch'd, so perhaps, it would be this one for real. She did saw some Pokemon laying around doing nothing, which was cute, but where was the Farfetch'd? She also thought this place could be ideal for camping if it wasn't so far in the woods. Like if something bad happened, you would hope that there's a flying Pokemon to look for help. Well, the thought of camping aside, she turned head left and right to look for the sign of the Farfetch'd. She knew it had to be here, but the forest was also conveniently denser than what she would have thought. It was hard to see when there's leaves everywhere. -le waits mod FINALLY-

(Tagging Tiki because this is edited. Am a total idiot, haven't handled all that much WGC before.)As Penelope finally found her way through to the Pine Gap, she'd spend quite a long time searching for her quarry. The surrounding area was quite dull and rather poorly lit for this time of day. Throughout the thick forest, a tonne of slow, lethargic Pokémon slowly prowled around, emphasising the rather boring nature of the Gap. However, as much as the young picnicker would look in this part of Ilex Forest, there would be little to no sign of any Farfetch'd. The most she'd find was a Slakoth with a small bump on its head, which may have been the result of a previous dispute with Farfetch'd. In fact, that's exactly what it was, but Penelope wouldn't know any better. This place looked rather untouched, with no squawks or onions in sight. Just as she might have begun to give up on her search, though, a familiar voice called out to her. "Heeey! Penelope, right?" Sylvester ran up to the young girl, an embarrassed look on his face. "I'm so glad that I caught up to you! Listen, it's been a while since we spoke and... well, I have some bad news. That Farfetch'd that I asked you to find for me? It's probably moved on from here. Looking around..." The struggling Cut master signalled in every direction as he said this. "Well, it seems as though I was right. It's far too quiet for one of those little nuisances to be here, wouldn't you say? At this time of year, that Farfetch'd in particular likes to migrate to that one brown part of the Forest. In fact, even the Pokémon themselves are a dull brown or grey colour. I wish I could show you where it is... but I'd get you lost at light speed, I'm afraid. Anyway, take care!" With that, Sylvester shot back off, presumably back to where he'd first met Penelope. Hopefully he'd find his way himself. Well that probably wasn't what the young trainer wanted to hear. The trees shuddered to mimic a sigh, even the forest seeming to note the frustration these mischievous little birds were causing its inhabitants and visitors alike. Though, there was one close by who was completely oblivious to such things. The lazy mammal scratched its head from the branch it had stretched itself out on, droopy eyes gazing down at the human shuffling about below. It yawned, extending one of its lanky arms to the side as it let its already relaxed muscles stretch out; likely some of the most strenuous things it had done all day. But it misjudged. With its arm so far out its center had been put too far off the balance on the branch. With a mixture of a yelp and groan Slakoth found itself sliding off of the tree branch. It barely had time to slap its big curled claws on the tree, scraping bark off as its body now hung upside down above Penelope. In a slow movement it leaned its head back to stare at the girl while upside down. A Slakoth (LV 10) appeared! Go here to fight

After witnessing her Pokemon's mighty strength, the astounded young girl stared at the Slakoth for a good while before moving on. However, now her mind was filled with the memory of watching her Azumarill tossing the Slakoth with such accuracy. That was too amazing to forget! Then... she did remember that she have to find the Farfetch'd, right? Now, she looked around and try to find where was the exit. Maybe she should take a break here, as she had been walking a lot. She stopped, and found a good space for her Pokemon to settle down and eat their food, as well as she ate her own food. She also stretched her body a bit and observed the scenery. Well, it wouldn't hurt to stay here a bit before moving on.

All that searching and battling had triggered a rumble in everyone's tummy, reminding the young trainer that it was a good time to take a break and eat some lunch. There was no point in trying to chase down a troublesome Farfetch'd on an empty stomach right? As Penelope settled into a nice little clear space padded with fallen leaves and pine needles a distant disturbance could be heard. It was loud crack, splintering wood as if a tree had just been cut and was now tumbling to the ground with a resounding thud even at a distance. Following this was a familiar quack, cackling out with maniacal laughter; squeaking its annoyance above the otherwise serene quiet of the outer Ilex Forest. But that wasn't all. The cackle of duck twisted in surprise as another sound picked up with a reverberating screech. A Supersonic. It seemed the Farfetch'd had found itself in some trouble with more of the forest residents somewhere nearby. Well that was convenient. She'd just need to find a place that housed a wild pokémon that knew that move and she'd be fine. Just hopefully she was able to get there before the spunky duck moved again. Though, Penelope would have other, more close to home so to speak, concerns as she sat munching on her food. It seemed the delectable smell and crumbs falling down around her had attracted the attention of another Pine Gap resident.
