--Entering from Mahogany Knoll--
They reached a gap in the trees and Astrid looked up at the darkening sky, there was still plenty out light left now there was no trees to cover for it but it was clearly getting late. "This looks promising, near a tree would be good I think," Astrid said, needles from the pines could make a soft bedding as well. Not that it would make any difference to her since she had brought along an air mattress, she was too old to sleep directly on the ground.
It didn't took them long to find a fitting place and Astrid called the remaining pokemon out of their pokeballs again. "I need you to clear an area and find some dry wood, then we set up my tent and I will make us some food, alright?" Astrid said and helped the pokemon get going, and she needed a lot of help getting the tent set up but soon they were all set and Lykke happily lightened up the fire, which needed several attempts since the wood wasn't warm and a bit big for starting up but they succeeded in the end. "This will be an easy meal, it just needs to boil a bit in the water," Astrid explained as the pokemon watched the dry block she dumped into the pot skeptically. As it boiled Astrid went to get her air mattress to pump so it was ready for the night and then she returned and laid a pillow on the treetrunk beside the fire. "This is nice, is it not?" Astrid asked her pokemon who watched her curiously, "well, I guess to many of you it is not special at all to sleep outside, but I think it is cozy to relax around a campfire in the evening," Astrid said with a smile and leaned forward to stir the food a bit. "Almost ready and then we eat," she declared, a mouthwatering smell spread in the clearing from the food, and her pokemon now watched the pot eagerly.

Tall spindly pine trees shot up high into the skies. Their large branches outstretched in several directions, crossing over each other in interconnected webs. Long green pine needles were bundles in thick clusters, blocking out the rays of the sun above. How much longer until sundown? Astrid had managed to find a gap in the forest, where the sun poured down abundantly around the Pine Gap and covered the forest floor below. Splotches of sunlight dotted the forest floor in erratic patterns. They were not alone, as a pair of lonely eyes watched from underneath as thicket of prickly bushes. Large, wide eyes blinked nervously from underneath white yarrows and bright blue blossoms decorated the shrubs that hunkered around and through the pine trees. To the wary and carefully observant eyes, puffs of brown feathers could just be made underneath the thicket. A large green leek stuck out from the bushes, with its wide end just jutting out from underneath the large bird. Its bright orange beak moved slowly underneath the thicket of green foliage. As Astrid prepared the food, the mischievous Pokemon could no longer remain hidden. It would hop out and spin its leek around in a brave display. The Farfetch’d began flapping its wings as it puffed out its chest and feathers to try and appear bigger and more threatening. It was challenging Astrid and her team. A battle for some tasty food. “Far fetch’d Farfetch’d far!” It demanded that they test themselves against its strength and let it have some of their dinner. Now! If she did not react soon, the Farfetch’d was ready to rush after her and swing its leeks wildly in an attempt to attack the old lady directly. Its hunger was driving its emotions, and it just needed Astrid’s food! Astrid found Sylvester’s Farfetch’d. He’s starving! Please Go here and battle the Farfetch’d [Level 20]!

The moment the farfetch'd clearly gave up by covering itself on the ground whimpering, Pia stopped her attack and just loomed over the other bird with her wings outstretched to solidify her dominance. She would step back but watch it closely as it got to its feet an apologized. "I don't care for you apologies just behave and you'll be fine," she answered and narrowed her eyes as she added a warning, "and don't try to run." Astrid made her way over and raised her badges to show the farfetch'd. "See, I have plenty, you are taught to respect those aren't you?" Astrid said with a smile although she watched the brown bird careful, and it sent her a funny look back. Then it nodded slowly, yes it did know that badges meant this was a good trainer and their pokemon would be strong, which was why it knew not to mess with those, but it was a weird way the old woman was phrasing it. "Great! Now come along, the food should soon be done and then we eat," Astrid said cheerfully and the farfetch'd stared surprised at her but then hurried after her. It was not going to say no to food, although it made sure to keep the old woman in between it and Pia to avoid the other bird attacking it again.
As Astrid stirred the pot again, the clearing began to light up like it was in the middle of the day and Astrid looked around confused. It was over just as quickly and it was first when she saw Baard's new form she understood where it had come from. "Baard! You evolved! How wonderful, come over here and get the first serving, to celebrate your new form," Astrid said happily and scooped up a smaller portion in a bowl which she held out to the vivillon. Both Pia and the farfetch'd watched the newly evolved pokemon with impatience, they were hungry and it was slow to make up its mind. Baard tested his wings carefully and then unsteady flapped his way over to land beside Astrid chattering excitedly as she handed out food to the others, who dug in after a hesitant tasting but it did taste good. Pia soon found herself struggle due to her long beak and she scraped the earth beside her bowl and scolded it as she could only get tiny bites out with the tip of her beak, and she was hungry! Farfetch'd turned its head away to hide its snickering. "Oh no, here, let me help," Astrid exclaimed and picked up the bowl and offered to pour the soup into Pia's beak. The proud bird hesitated, she was hungry but she preferred to things on her own, she didn't needed to be fed like she was a new hatchling. "I am sorry that they have only made them fit for humans, I did not take your beak into account when I bought this stuff," Astrid apologized and Pia rolled her eyes, why did this human always take all the blame and apologize for it? It was getting rather annoying and often made the pokemon feel guilty. Pia decided she was strong enough to be able to accept help and opened her beak to be fed, and then glared at the farfetch'd whom she had a feeling had found it funny but the other bird looked innocent and was busy eating its food.
The rest of the evening was uneventful, Astrid's pokemon made sure farfetch'd stayed put and they slept through the night without any incident. The next morning They packed up and headed back towards where they last had met Sylvester.

It was raining hard, but Penelope successfully captured the Pineco. Narctar carefully moved his feet on the slippery ground, and picked up the Pokeball the bug type was captured in. Penelope picked up the successful capture of a Pokemon, and then held onto the sleeping Farfetch'd before continuing down her path away again. She returned everyone she could, except the Azumarill who enjoyed the rain. Then, there's this mysterious Deerling with a hat on it. Where could this Pokemon come from? Who could it be? She wasn't sure. Maybe this was a wild Pokemon? She decided it's more important to return the Farfetch'd now and stay away from the rain. Probably the Deerling would return where it came from on its own. -going to Mahogany Knoll-

Coming from the Mahogany Knoll.
Tyler was thrilled as he reached the fringe areas of the Pine Gap. The area was home to the two Pokemon he was really after and he wanted to begin his search right away. His team had gotten a decent amount of experience while looking for their previous target so he knew they would be more than ready for whatever dared to show up in front of him. He also knew that both Pokemon he was after were not the most common Pokemon in the area so it might take some time to run into one of them.
" Be on the lookout for anything at all. Fenrir and Mania can jump in if need be but I want Vitani and Derpy to be the primary ones to battle here. They both need experience to catch up with the rest of you. Hopefully luck is on our side and one of our targets will pop up quickly." He grunted under his breath before waiting for something to pop out.

The Pine Gap was a wondrous place so eloquently named for the vibrant pine trees that sprouted throughout its domain. Small Aleppo pines with their rich orange-red barks and yellow-green needles that sprouted in pairs along their long branches. They propped up in groves around gigantic slash pines whose trunks clamored ever-closer towards the heavens above and whose canopies bristled out from their base in large conical formations. Large bristlecone pines with their thick trunks and strange, twisted branches stretched out in odd locations within the Pine Gap and held small, budding blue pinecones nestled securely within their needles. Life was teeming within the Pine Gap. Loud, raucous howling echoed through the canopies above with the flutter of wings that dashed in sporadic directions. Loud chattering announced a vigorous battle linked between two creatures, and as the loud scratching sounds and screams that followed shortly promised, only one could remain a victor. A small feathered brown body plummeted from one of the pine trees. It landed inside of a large bush whose bristled branches were covered in thorns. Though, should Tyler wander closer, the still form where not even the chest seemed to rise and fall to denote rhythmic breathing would prove to show that it was too late for this creature to be saved. Another Pokemon hopped down from the tops of the pine trees’ canopies, suspended by a singular thin thread. The thread traveled up from the tip of the ‘pine needle horn’ of the blue pinecone-shaped bagworm and connected it back to a large branch above. It stared curiously at Tyler for a second with its large red eyes, then narrowed them with a dangerous glare as a strange white light began to glow around the Pineco. Though it looked as though it might explode, it held its composure in a quiet moment trapped between the possibility of managing to calm down and the possibility of detonating within a second’s breath. It waited to see what Tyler would do - would he run or confront the Pokemon that appeared before them? And what should Tyler found an angry Pineco! Level 12. Please decide what Tyler will do here. Tyler braced for an explosive end to the battle being sure that Pineco would break out and blow up as soon as it was free. Instead the Ultra Ball clicked shut before Zira ran over and started to kick the ball around with her paws like an oversized meowth playing with a ball of yarn. Though the adorable scene did not do much to tug at Tyler's heartstrings he was very relieved that he had captured Pineco without much trouble. Usually Tyler did not care for bug type Pokemon but he knew how useful Pineco could be when they evolved and he also knew that being an uncommon species that their eggs could sell for a high price on the black market. " Good work there Zira, we got lucky with that capture but Pineco will be a huge boon for us once we have the chance to breed it. Very few trainers would spend their valuable time searching the forest for one so we can profit off their laziness for our benefit." He then decided to come up with a nickname for the strange Pokemon as he knew it evolved into a strange looking Pokemon called Forretress and wanted to pick out a fitting name in advance. After pondering it over for a short while he settled on a name that would fit well once the bug type evolved. " I think I am going to call you Cannon. I look forward to evolving you one day so that it will fit you better. In the meantime I will put you in my box for now until I have a chance to raise you. Now I just have one target left in this area to capture." He said as he turned his attention back to trying to find the other Pokemon in the area he was after. It was a little bit rarer than Pineco but as Tyler wanted to train his team anyway any encounter would still be of some use to him. Before Tyler could even start searching however Zira picked up on something in a nearby tree and looked up before growling at whatever was up there. Tyler called out hoping whatever was in the tree would show itself. " You have two choices and neither will be great, come out of the tree and show yourself or Zira here will blast you out of the tree. Choose now or I will make the choice for you." He threatened as he waited for a response. OOC: Looking for another encounter. Zira should have gained 2 levels from the last battle growing to level 22 so I will update that myself. Adding Cannon to Tyler's PC. PinecoName: Cannon Gender: Female Level: 15 OT: Tyler Wolfgang Moves: Take Down, Bug Bite, Self-destruct, Protect Ability: Sturdy Nature/Personality: Relaxed, despite her species being known for an explosive temper Cannon is quite a bit more relaxed. She is not as fast as others of her kind but her pine cone like shell is slightly harder than most to make up for it. She dreams of the day she can evolve so her true potential will be unleashed.

The tall pine trees were as impressive as they were expansive. Given Tyler’s previous fight with the bagworm Pokemon, many of the Pokemon that sought shelter in the trees above would immediately take off in different directions. A flash of soft, whitish-brown fur glistened in the sunlight as the strange, slow moving Pokemon somehow found speed to kick itself off through the trees. It jumped through the canopies, using its powerfully long arms and long, sharp claws to grip one branch and swing to the next. Even should Tyler give chase, the Pokemon would move faster, managing to dodge any attacks that might have been sent after it, until it had escaped to the safety of a hidden spot far away. For now, it would seem as though this Pokemon would remain as elusive as Mew itself. Something else stirred in the treetops above. It studied Tyler carefully through large eyes and seemed to narrow its gaze down on the strange human. Who was this stranger that tore through their sleepy gap and seemed ready and willing to challenge anything that dared to stir to life in their wake? The hidden Pokemon didn’t like this human and seemed pent up with anger as it flared its nostrils. After witnessing this stranger steal its friends away, the strange Pokemon would jump up and down on top of one of the pine tree’s sturdy branches to cause large, brown pinecones to fall from their canopies. The pinecones would come crashing down all around Tyler and his team, though the hidden Pokemon wouldn’t give up until Zira made good on her promise to try and blast the Pokemon out of the tree. Only then would the second Pineco drop down on a long, thin sticky thread. It spun around wildly with its gaze constantly shifting to remain on Tyler and Zira. “You’ve damaged my home and stole my friend!” The Pokemon cursed at the top of its lungs, still spinning in circles while it tried to get itself to stop and hold still for a second. “There’s no way that you can be forgiven! Prepare to be destroyed by the forest you so love to destroy!” The bright blue bagworm promised. It’s body began to glow as a bright white light enveloped it, and if Tyler and Zira didn’t act fast then the Pineco would make good on its promise to detonate just as its friend had tried to do seconds before. Tyler nearly had a heart attack as the Ultra Ball shook back and forward. He was sure that this time luck would not be on his side and this would be the time Pineco would break out and explode. With each and every shake Tyler grew more nervous as he waited for the bang but instead just like the previous case the Ultra Ball clicked shut trapping Pineco inside and preventing an explosive end to the battle. Tyler took a moment to collect himself as he could hardly believe luck had been on his side twice in a row. He could not complain however as he really did need the second Pineco. " Now that we have a male and female Pineco I just need to find the other target. No idea how long that will take but at least Zira is getting stronger in the process. She will be very useful on our next mission." As he took a deep breath he started to think of a name for the Pineco as anything so brave as to blow itself up fully deserved a cool nickname and Tyler took almost no time to come up with one that he really liked. " I will call you Bombardment and I think you and Cannon will make quite a pair. Now that we have that settled it is time to keep searching for our other target."Tyler then started to look around with the help of Zira trying to find the other Pokemon they were after. Regardless of whatever they encountered Tyler would send Zira to play with it as she was getting closer and closer to catching up with most of the team and of the Pokemon he was training she would be the most useful. It was not long before Zira heard a noise and reacted as she stared at a patch of grass next to a large tree. She bared her fangs and started to walk towards the grass as Tyler gave whatever was in the grass a chance to come out in one piece. " I will give you one chance to come out peacefully, Zira here is pretty hungry and I will not be responsible for whatever she does if I send her after you. Neither of us is in the mood for anyone to hide." Tyler then paused for a moment as Zira got ready to pounce. Neither of them wanted to allowed whatever it was to try and escape as any encounter might be the target they were after. OOC: As per the staff discussion Tyler's Cleanse Tag is only active in this thread so please only roll for the encounter. Zira keeps her current moves. Putting Bombardment in Tyler's PC. PinecoName: Bombardment Gender: Male Level: 15 OT: Tyler Wolfgang Moves: Protect, Self-Destruct, Bug Bite, Take Down Ability: Sturdy Nature/Personality: Relaxed, Bombardment is very close to Cannon. He loves to spend every moment with her that he can. He also Loves to randomly blow himself up just to scare Tyler's other Pokemon.

The sounds of life stirred around them as the forest sprung to life. A soft and gentle breeze swept around the land. Small bugs scurried across scattered leaves as they continued on with their mundane lives in silence. Still, the loud calls of primates howling at the top of their lungs seemed to shake its way through the pine tree covered forests. Something stirred off in the distance and caused the tall lanky trees to bob and shake erratically as though they may snap in two and fall to the forest floor below. Large outcroppings created steep ledges that many trainers would not be able to scale up. And although the illusive tell-tale sign of white fur with long, sharp sloth-like claws would shine out like a glimpse among the trees beyond the steep ledges, it would disappear all too soon – leaving only a walkable trail around the ledge’s sides as a traversable method that would surely keep them from catching up with the hidden Pokemon in time. Still, something else stirred within the grass. It’s loud, shrill chirps called out above the tall green blades whose brown-singed tops shimmered in areas where the sun managed to break through the canopy itself to grace the world below. The strange creature waited in silence, possibly scared, or stalking them as though they were prey. The bright blue electric cat seemed to snarl at the hidden creature as the trainer called out to it. The hidden creature hopped backwards through the tall grasses, managing to remain hidden for a while, as it tried to escape the trainer’s clutches. It kicked up large bits of sand and slung it at Tyler and Zira, trying to scare them off and get them to turn away. When it was evident that they would not leave the hidden Pokemon alone, it would shoot up like a dart high into the air. Powerful brown wings stretched out over the tops of the tall wheatgrasses as sharp talons kicked off the ground underfoot. A small pigeon soared up high over Zira and Tyler with wide and scared eyes. It squawked at them both and dived repeatedly for their heads, trying to kick and scratch at them to get them to run away from its area. Whether it was only defending itself or whether it had a nest hidden within the canopies above, it seemed as though it were compelled to fight them off rather than flee the area entirely. After capturing the poor defenseless Pidgey Tyler set about looking for the target he was truly after. He was happy that Zira was able to grow stronger and now she was just a few levels away from being ready for their next mission. " One of these days I need to train Sparky so that he can work with you and shock any pesky flying types out of the sky. The two of you would be great together." He said as he daydreamed of having a strong team. For the time being however he had to raise the Pokemon he had on him and knew the more time he stood around the longer that would take.
A number of Pokemon who lived in the area would make for great target practice and of course he still had the one target he was still trying to hunt down as well which would help pass some time. As he started to search again Fenrir and Mania propped themselves up against nearby trees waiting for a moment that they might have to jump in and save the others as they were the only two Pokemon on Tyler's team who could potentially defeat any powerful threat that came their way. They were also bored as unless that moment came they would not get to see much action in this area.
" I wonder what other Pokemon are lurking about? We have seen two Pineco and a Pidgey so far and that is a pretty weird combination. It is a good thing we caught those two Pineco as well since something tells me they are not very common in this area despite bumping into two of them in a row. I for one do not want to bump into another one and have it try to blow up like the previous two tried to do." As Fenrir worried about the potential explosive nature of Pineco Mania was just glad that the Pineco did not go after her. Her hatred of bug types was still as strong as ever and she wanted nothing to do with the little pest no matter how strong they might be.
" I could care less what pops out so long as whatever it is doesn't touch me if it is a bug type. Those things can all burn for all I care. If we come across any more you all can deal with them while I use Fenrir as a bodyguard." Mania snarled as a sudden noise caused everyone to become dead silent as they wondered what it was.
OOC: Looking for another encounter.

Many Pokemon dwelled high above the world in the tall pine trees that surrounded the gap. Named for how the trees seemed to buckle and sway away from the steep ledges that led up to higher heights, their bush green canopies would jut out above the land below. They created strange webbing with their network of long, thick branches that snaked out from their bases and coiled sleepily around each other. One of the sleepiest of Pokemon slumbered in the recluse of the trees, pressing its body up against the base of a tall pine tree. It kept its long claws strapped firmly to the pine’s trunk while its eyes remained seemingly glued together and its loud snores shook the gigantic plant occasionally. A loud caw sounded behind Mania as a large bird rose up over the tall grasses and fanned its short pink wings. It’s eyes narrowed down suspiciously on the strange looking Pokemon. It tilted its head to the side for a second and scratched at the ground with its sharp talons. Then, almost as if it had changed its mind or sensed the impossibility of the match it might have made against the dark canine with thick red ‘hair-like’ fur growing from her scalp down to her feet, it fled. The Spearow would dive up high through the trees, darting around one branch after the other, as it screamed at the top of its lungs. It knocked into the branch where the sleeping Pokemon lay snuggled up to the large pine tree. The Slakoth screamed as the other Pokemon startled it awake. It jumped up into the air, releasing its grip on the pine tree, and lost its balance. The strange purple furred Pokemon would bounce all the way from one branch to the next until it tumbled on the forest floor below. Stunned and a bit dazed, it stretched its arms out in long, arduously slow attempts to try and crawl away. It wouldn’t take much for Tyler to try and work out a strategy to keep the Pokemon trapped in place, surely, though if he weren’t careful this Pokemon would make like a bee and buzz off. As the Ultra Ball captured the shiny Slakoth with hardly any effort at all Tyler was beyond ecstatic as he had now secured all of the Pokemon he was after in the forest for now and he could finally leave the forest and make his way to another destination. The biggest issue was deciding where he wanted to go as Azalea would be slightly easier to do some training while Goldenrod had a better selection of potential targets. The good news about the higher difficulty while training on Goldenrod was that his Pokemon would gain more experience whenever they won a battle. " Tough choice here, Azalea means we have to go all the way back through this accursed forest but training there will not be as much of a pain. On the other hand Goldenrod is harder but with high potential rewards for winning battles and the trip there is quite a bit longer as this part of the forest is really isolated. I need a few minutes to consider things." He said as he considered all of his options carefully. As much as he hated going through the forest his next mission was probably going to be in Goldenrod and considering that he made up his mind. " I think we have to go to Goldenrod as much as I hate making another trip through this nightmare. The good news is Spark will finally be able to rejoin us to train with Zira. Derpy will have to train later as she isn't worth the effort for the time being." He then started to look for which path would lead him to the right area and not have him wondering in circles. It was quickly apparent however that the Pine Gap led no where so going back the way her came was the only way to make his way to Goldenrod. The bad news was it was quite a distance back and the sun was already starting to set. " It looks like we will be in for a night hike, there is no way we will be able to make our way out of the forest before the sun goes down. We can take a break once we reach Goldenrod so Mania does not have to put up with any bugs. That is the last issue we need to pile on about now. He then started to retrace his steps as he briskly walked back towards Mahogany Knoll. OOC: Heading for Mahogany Knoll. Adding Magenta to Tyler's PC. Shiny SlakothName: Magenta Gender: Female Level: 15 OT: Tyler 'Ace' Wolfgang Moves: Yawn, Slack Off, Encore, Rest Ability: Truant Nature/Personality: Adamant, usually a sleepy Pokemon, Magenta hates being woken up from naps or having to do anything at all. Arriving from the Mahogany KnollAs numerous Pidgey's and Spearow's flew overhead, Shinya knew that he had arrived in the correct area of the Ilex Forest. Surely, the second runaway Farfetch'd had to be hiding out here in the Pine Gap. Now that they were here, the Alolan trainer looked down at the slumbering Anorith in his arms and gave her a few little shakes, attempting to rouse her from said slumber. "Hey, Anorith. It's time to get up. We're here. Whatever you were dreamin' about, it can wait." Shinya informed her, then bent over and gently placed her down onto the ground, which was covered in pine needles that had fallen off of the trees all around them. Slowly, but surely, Anorith awakened from her slumber once again, smelling the scent of the pine needles all around her, just as she had down with the flowers back in the Luminous Vale. "...Oh...This place smells nice too...I just hope this battle goes as quickly as the last one did..." The Bug/Rock type commented, rubbing her eyes with her claws a few times to get her vision in focus for the impending battle. "You and me both, Anorith. You and me both." Shinya replied to her comment with one of his own, almost as eager as she was to get this battle done and over with so that they could finally venture deeper into the Ilex Forest and proceed with their journey through Johto. "Hey, Farfetch'd! We know you're here, ya stupid bird! We took down your partner in crime, and you're next! So, get out here where we can see ya and take your lumps like the bird brain ya are!" The Bug type trainer shouted out as loud as he could, attempting to draw the second Farfetch'd out of hiding so that Anorith could finish it off just as easily as the last one. OOC: Awaiting Shinya's second Farfetch'd encounter.

There came no reaction to Shinya's shouting, why would the bird be interested in approaching someone who was both insulting it and threatening it? Why give up its freedom and risk it all? Not that it heard what he said either, his shouting was nothing more than a brief disturbance of the serenity of the forest, a turbulence in the air which you just soared past. Oh to soar, to feel the wind under you wing, the moving bodies of other birds beside you, moving in unison as you weaved through the trees. This was something different than standing on the ground whacking at trees which its trainer wanted it to do for some reason. This was the closest it had been to experience to be wild, and if it was like this it wouldn't mind. Finding a mate and raise some chicks in between soaring through the air an enjoying the view and the wonderful smells didn't sound so bad. Another flock of pidgeys came soaring past, and the a big flock of spearows, where, in the middle, a bird a bit different than the others were flying. Hadn't it carried a very green leek in its beak it could easily have blended in with the other brown birds at this distance. It was very high up so it wouldn't be easy to hit it, and it certainly didn't look like it had any plans on landing any time soon. Farfetch'd [Lv 20] is flying with the flock! Weather will be chinook!Go to battle here
