Bug Catching Contest Hello, everybody! Remember me? It's Bugsy from Azalea Town! As you know, I love Bug Pokémon very much! My passion for them stretches so far that I enjoy sharing it with other people too! So, the in first months of every Summer & Autumn I rent out the National Park to make way for the Bug Catching Contest! It's a lot of fun and easy to do. Here's how it works!
For the first week of the month I'll be taking sign-ups to anybody who has at least earned the Zephyr Badge from Falkner's gym in Violet City. Don't worry, it's free to join. Just fill out the form that can be found in this thread. When the week is done, sign-ups are over and the actual contest gets under way with participants making topics in this board with thread titles carrying the suffix (BCC)!
During the contest you may bring only one Pokémon with you to battle, the rest you'll have to leave behind. Don't worry, we'll give them back when the contest is done. Also, keep in mind your Pokémon will gain levels from this contest so be sure to keep it used only in this contest and not anywhere else (eg: main RP topics, estates topics, modded group RPs). You will be disqualified if this is breached.
We give you 15 Sport Balls to use to catch the Bug Pokémon with: you are not allowed to bring in your own Pokéballs! You can take with you only one Bug Pokémon to submit for judging. If you catch another bug and you want to keep it, you must release the other one. Oh, and important to mention, but you cannot battle with the Bug Pokémon you caught during the contest and you're not allowed to heal it.
Your contest ends when one or more of the following happens:
- When the end of the month occurs
- When you have reached 5 encounters
- When you run out of all 15 Sport Balls
- When your Pokémon gets knocked out
- When you decide to end your contest early (closing the topic)
- If your chosen Pokémon is found used elsewhere in modded topics
*Any item/ability that would skew what you encounter is invalid for this contest
Other things of note:
- Word counts do apply to your eggs
- Running Shoes can be used as normal (per encounter)
Pokémon judging begins the first day of the next month and the winners will be announced. Points are based on the Pokémon's species, level, remaining HP, and how hard it was to catch. Naturally, the higher the points the better! The one who has the highest will be declared the winner and will be given a wonderful prize! So consider if it 1st place you want, or the rare Pokémon.
Don't worry, not only do we give the second and third place winners a prize as well, everybody will earn a prize for entering. On top of that, you get to keep the Pokémon that you caught as well, so it is win-win all around! And if, for example, two people tie first place with the same number of points, they both get first place! Don't be afraid to get down and dirty, so have fun! Prizes:| Place | Rewards

 What a great turn out! Considering this was the first Bug Catching Contest to be held it has been one of excitement, tension and most importantly of all, giving respect to the wonder of Bug Pokemon! All of our contestants managed to bag themselves a Pokemon of considerable worth but that's not the only thing this contest was for. We also have the judging to be passed down! So without further ado, let's see the standings... First of all, we have our commiserations to those who participated but didn't quite get within the top three. So a round of applause to...  SANDY, JUSTIN & ZACHARY!  For your participation, you receive the wonderful TM110 Struggle Bug and 1RT! And now for the top three... These trainers went out of their way to craftily outdo the bugs roaming the forest and have submitted some real beauties. IN THIRD PLACE TANYA'S BEAUTIFLY! Scoring a cool 208 Points!   You may claim one of the above evolutionary stones and 2RT! IN SECOND PLACE SHARADA'S PINSIR! Scoring a suave 216 Points!     You may claim one of the above evolutionary stones and 3RT! IN FIRST PLACE JOEY'S SCYTHER! Scoring an impressive 310 Points!    You may claim one of the above evolutionary stones and 4RT! After many years we are proud to announce the return of the Bug Catching Contest. Sign ups will be held from now until August 8th. To qualify all you need is to sign up at this link. Remember the character you use must have the first badge and the Pokemon you choose cannot be used elsewhere until the end of the contest. With that being said let's get this party started. |

Contest Results #2 August 2017Every single participant managed to capture a Pokemon this time around. After tallying up the scores using a apecial formula we are ready to announce the winners. Everyone who did not place will receive a Net Ball as well as being allowed to keep the Pokemon they caught. For those in the top 3 please post your prize choices here.
