Zack could not believe it once again he was standing in the line for the bug catching contest. It had been a full year already. Where had the time gone? The last time he was here he had caught himself a Scyther who was only now really getting a chance to join in current team. He had taken a good chunk of the year off however, going back to Kanto and visiting the family had been a lot of fun. He was back in Johto now to continue his journey, and on this particular day catch himself a new cute bug, maybe even win if he could get lucky.
Jasmine was out of her Pokeball sniffing the air and ready for whatever was to come. Zack could not remember if she had been an Ivysaur last year or if she had been a Bulbasaur, but either way today was going to be a lot of fun. As they got the go ahead from the starter pistol the two of them wasted no time running deep into the park. Zack had a few thoughts in his mind as to what exactly he should get this year, but was not sure exactly what to expect so he kept his options open. If nothing else a Butterfree would be a great end Pokemon as it had some Psychic abilities that could be useful, but if he wanted to win this thing he would need a better Pokemon than a common Butterfree.

Storming right off into the heart of the National Park's round, Pokeball designed like greenery, it wasn't long before the blades of grass seemed to be tower in height, dwarfing Zack's height as if he was an insignificant ant. The very height of these greens was almost as if they had decided to leave the park to overgrow from the year Zachary had been previously. Nevertheless, there was no doubt this was the same contest. Especially so when Zack's first encounter was going to be a particular Pokemon that had burned the male's image into his eyes since it saw the trainer's actions all that time ago. Despite not being the stealthiest of creatures, possessing a pulsating glow tail that was very much a hindrance to its hiding, the Pokemon managed to remain relatively hidden amongst the sheer size of the tall grass. Nestling its head through the patches every so often to ensure it had kept in sight the trainer's movements, the firefly was also being carefully prudent to avoid his Ivysaur, Jasmine from being alerted to his presence. Thankfully, they seemed much too intent on searching for Pokemon directly in front of their line of sight. Darting closer and closer akin to that of a psychotic, stalking murderer, the Pokemon saw its chance when the trainer stopped to turn around. Bursting out of the grass blades with its wings going into overdrive, the Pokemon let burst a huge expulsion of light that would be surely enough to blind even the most prepared of victims. As the light blinded down, the Volbeat landed to the ground and raised its fists angrily. Although Zack had not had the pleasure of meeting this Volbeat before, he had already been well acquainted with its missus and for the little indiscretion of him catching the Illumise while not to mention roughing her up, the Volbeat was determined to have some retribution. Zack’s eyes went up a bit in surprise and curiosity. This bug seemed to have a vendetta against the young trainer. As it stood there fists in the air bobbing back and forth. Zack chuckled slightly as he found the situation a little bit humorous, it was clearly the wrong thing to do as the glare on the little bug became pure hatred. Zack sighed it was obvious this battle would have to take place. Alright Jasmine looks like we have our first competitor! Go use Sleeping Powder…
Jasmine who like Zack had been a bit shocked at the sudden flash of light was now recovering her wits as she heard Zack and focused on the situation at hand realizing that it has just been a flash of light no harm had been done which gave her renewed confidence in the battle to come.

The Volbeat hissed in anger as the trainer laughed. What was this blasphemy? Did this human take pleasure in causing others pain? White hot fury surged through the Volbeat's veins, spurring him into action. With a yowl, the lightning bug took to the air again, wings humming as he shot forward at a blinding speed. He would not let this human leave here unscathed. Jasmine took a step back as the Volbeat suddenly circled her, flashing into view and then disappearing again on all sides. She couldn't tell where the bug was, at least not until it flashed into view beside her and delivered a nasty uppercut to the gut. Tumbling through the tall grass, she pulled herself back to her feet with a wince, pain throbbing in her side.
The Volbeat glared angrily, his breathing heavy from the exertion of his last attack and from his rage. Jasmine sensed some of this pure anger coming off the bug in waves, and she frowned, wondering exactly what could infuriate the bug so. What had her trainer done to get on this Pokemon's bad side? Shaking her head, the Ivysaur widened her stance, raising her rear end and lowering her front so that the bulb on her back was aiming at the Volbeat. The still closed flower on her back opened just enough to spray a fine powder over the battlefield. The Volbeat was so enraged that he didn't notice that anything was amiss until his eyelids began to droop. Growling in frustration, the bug struggled against the lure of blissful unconsciousness, but the sickly sweet smell of the Sleep Powder dragged him under, and the Volbeat collapsed, dragged down into a deep sleep.

This Volbeat was a great find. Zack was not sure why it was so displeased with him, but that is something that he could figure out later. Now the trick was to do minimal damage and then catch the little bug. But what should he use on him. If he told Jasmine to use Leech Seed it would work, but than he would risk getting the Pokemon to low and losing the completion last year to Joey’s Scyther because it had more HP than his did. It really meant he only had one option use the Razor Leaf and hope that it only would do a minimal amount of damage and then bombard the sleeping Volbeat with Park Balls.
Alright Jasmine let’s do this use your Razor Leaf and weaken that bug… Zack had pulled out his camera now ready for Jasmine to do her thing and maybe get a few good shots of her Razor Leaf attack.

Jasmine nodded, stomping forward as she prepared her attack. The Volbeat was still lying there, seemingly in a deep, peaceful sleep. However, within the Volbeat's mind, the bug Pokemon raged, trying valiantly to awaken. But it was all to no avail. The Volbeat could not awaken from his slumber.
Jasmine stood a few feet away in a wide stance, her vines at the ready. With a last huff, she whipped her vines up and tugged at the small leaves beneath her bulb, throwing them at the Volbeat like ninja stars. The stream of razor sharp leaves hit the bug dead on, knocking it backwards in the dirt and leaving gashes across its body. Jasmine held her breath as the Volbeat stirred slightly, praying that the bug wouldn't awaken. But it was a false alarm, and the Volbeat stayed deep in sleep.

Zack knew that this little lightning bug was not the rarest Pokemon in the area, but it did seem powerful and motivated. Zack had to make a choice if he wanted to shoot for first place this Pokemon would likely not get him that, but if he could keep the Pokemon’s HP about where it was not not having taken to much damage he may be able to get a second place. Deciding the fact that the only other rare Pokemon in the park was Pinsar and he did not really want one Zack decided a second place trophy would be a good shot. Alright Jasmine! Time for me to take over! GO PARK BALL! The park ball flew through the air making its way toward the sleeping Pokemon.

Jasmine nodded and took a step back, making way for her trainer to hurl the Sport Ball into the fray. The bug didn't have very many injuries, but she understood that catching the creature with high health was all part of the game. If they caught the Volbeat, perhaps she could find out exactly why the bug was so mad at Zack.
The Sport Ball arced through the air, bouncing off the Volbeat's head and snapping shut neatly after the slumbering bug was dragged inside. Even in sleep, the bug resisted, fighting the pull of submission from within the red and white orb. But even the weak Park Ball presented a challenge, even for a sleeping beauty like this firefly...
A flash of light engulfs the Pokemon, sucking it inside the blue and white orb. Snapping shut, the Sport Ball falls to the ground. Zack waits in anticipation as the Sport Ball rocks on the ground, the wild Pokemon struggling to escape. ... The Sport Ball twitches once... ... Twice... ... A third, violent shudder rocks the ball before... A red light flashes on the middle button and the ball is still! Congratulations!Volbeat joined the party has been captured! Volbeat's data was added to the Pokedex. Give a nickname to the captured Volbeat? VolbeatName: Thor Gender: Male Level: 18 Attacks: Quick Attack, Moonlight, Confuse Ray, Double Team Ability: Swarm Nature/Personality: Brave, Though this little firefly is usually friendly by nature if it feels threatened or someone it cares about is threatened it will continue to fight until it passes out or dies. It is strong willed and does not let others walk all over him. This Volbeat is a perfect Pokemon for any Pokemon trainer, or bug lover wishing to make a name for themselves in the world.
Zack was thrilled as he ran over and picked up the Park Ball. It felt cold in his hand, but he knew inside was possibly a winning Pokemon. This is a great start girl you did great Jazz! Lets see what else we can find in this place. Zack had his camera ready to go now, he was not going to be taken by surprise again. HE loved catching wild Pokemon and raising them, but catching wild Pokemon battling or rare Pokemon in the wild those were his favorite moments ever. Continuing down a game train he could not tell exactly what Pokemon it was that had made it, but it was fresh and Jasmine was clearly on the hunt as she kept her nose to the ground making sure to keep the sent as fresh as possible, allowing her trainer Zack to keep a look out for any danger coming their way.

The commotion not to far away, it had truly awoken a monster, Zack just didn't know it yet. Nearby, a lone Beedrill had been attempting to take the sweet nectar from some nearby flowers, when it heards a cacophony that was the noise of battle. It was enough to drive it nuts, and indeed it did. The Beedrill buzzed loudly as its wings got going again and it took to the air, to find the source. It found it just as Zack had picked up the Pokeball containing his new Volbeat. It observed for a Moment as Jasmine began on her way and then zoomed down and blocked their pathway. The buzz and chatter was enough to tell Zack just how angry this bug was, and it sure hoped that he had an idea that he was in for a battle. Unless of course... unless of course he tried to flee. But that of course may or may not be in their best interest, it supposed that it was a nice thought for its prey. ------------------------------------------- A Wild Pokemon appeared! Weather: Nice! An Angry Beedrill (Level 12) has appeared! Fight or Flee?

Zack and Jasmine jumped slightly as the Beedrill zoomed out of the tree toward the two of them. Zack knew he would not be able to out run a Beedrill, these bugs were considered one of the most aggressive and dangerous of their entire species and that is sure saying somehitng. Alright Jazz use your Sleep Powder on this bug. We will teach it who’s boss! Jasmine grinned as an Ivysaur only can and prepared to take on the Beedrill. She knew the poor bug did not stand a chance, but it deserved every welt it was about to get for scareing her and Zack like that.

The Beedrill buzzed angrily, not wanting to waste time with such rabble. It was annoyed with this human and his disturbance to the hornet's meal, and did not want to sit by and wait for the trainer to figure out what he was going to do. Its wings hummed as they picked up in speed, propelling the hornet forward at a high speed.
Little did the creature know that this was exactly what Jasmine had been waiting for. As soon as the hornet was within range, she fired a burst of Sleep Powder into the air, letting the breeze scatter it towards the Beedrill. Shame on the bug for not taking notice of its surroundings. The Beedrill wobbled slightly in mid-flight as the powder began to take effect, and it crashed into the ground before Jasmine, fast asleep and completely vulnerable.
Battle! Wild Beedrill | level 12 | Health : 100% (41/41 HP)Status : AsleepAttack : Unable to attack VS Zack's Jasmine | level 24 | Health : 100% (70/70 HP)Status : NormalAttack : A successful Sleep Powder

Zack knew that he had chosen right as a Pokemon trainer when once again the wild Pokemon collapsed to the ground in front of the two of them. Jasmine was a perfect Ivysaur and her skill was excellent. Zack was glad that Jasmine was the first Pokemon he had ever chosen, even to this day the creature had not let him down and they had been through quite a lot together. All right Jazz! You’re in Charge! Razor Leaf that Beedrill Now! Jasmine gave a huff of acknowledgment. This wild Beedrill had messed with the wrong team and it was going to pay dearly for its mistake.

Vs
[/i] - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -[/right] Jasmine studied her sleeping foe carefully, hoping that launching an attack on it wouldn't cause it to wake up. But judging by how deathly still it was, dozing on the ground, perhaps they would be lucky for a short span of time. Shaking her bulb from side to side, she dislodged fragments of her leaves with the movement before executing a neat spin to send them speeding forwards. There was a fair amount of sharp little leaf pieces, so accuracy wasn't a prominent issue; the sheer amount covered a fair area, and some were bound to strike a medium-sized target that wasn't moving.
They impacted with the sleeping Beedrill, opening up little nicks on its exoskeleton and piercing tiny holes in its clear wings. Some went bouncing wildly after making contact with the large stingers attached to the end of each arm. Amazingly the insect slumbered on, completely oblivious as to what was happening to its body. Although that could possibly be attributed to her attack not being hugely effective... or the fact that her sleep-inducing powder had enough of a kick to down a Mamoswine, and Beedrill would be dozing for a while.

Zack had been hoping that the Razor Leaf would of done a bit more damage, but as it was it seemed that the bug Pokemon was holding up quite well thus far. That only meant that more extreme measures were required to take down this bug. All right Jazz! You are doing great! Now use your Leech Seed Attack! Jasmine looked over at her trainer with a small nod. Clearly Jasmine was just as determined as Zack, and this battle needed to end sooner rather than latar!
