Name: Jared Greyhound
(Tell me if this image is in use already)
Age: 17
Gender: Male
Trainer Type: Laid Back Trainer
Hometown: Olivine City
Appearance: Jared is tall and slender. He is slightly toned, but not overly so. His hair is shaggy and a light shade of gray, sleek and shiny. He wears a blue headband with the insignia of a pokeball on it, and shows off a blue and grey sport-suit. During his travels, he will also carry similar outfits, but the others are light green and red trimmed. He also has light gray eyes. When Jared has light laugh lines creased at the corner's of his mouth. The bags under his eyes are small but noticeable if you look at him directly.
Jared would never wear shorts or t-shirts because of his skinnier build, which he was slightly self-conscious of, but he would never admit that. The only exception to this is when he goes swimming, in which case he wears a gray swimsuit with light yellow trim. Jared prefers to carry a pokemon or two outside of their pokeball, but he understands that it's their attitude that will effect that, as he would never deny one what it prefers. When he is wandering, something is always in his left hand. He has always hated having both hands empty since he was a child, and now clutches a pokeball, water bottle, yo-yo or other medium sized object at all times. He began wearing black gloves when he had early dreams of being a biker, but as that dream quickly became a fad, the gloves stuck close.
Personality: Jared makes it a habit of being as calm and collected as possible. When battling, he doesn't typically develop grudges with anyone. He tends to hold his head high, even after a tough loss. Frequently people will overlook him as cocky, because of his flashy style and the way he never looks quite as humble as he really is. Jared has truthfully not been around many pokemon in his life, but doesn't like to show it. He feels like it would make pokemon uncomfortable if he is and, of course, it wouldn't be as cool if he wasn't comfortable with them.
During Jared's free time he can sometimes be caught hanging out in park's, or out on route's with friends. He doesn't like to be alone very much, he's more of a social butterfly. Jared's inspiration comes from his brother, a fighting type trainer, just a few years older than himself. His brother's name is Joseph, and he was always a muscular kid. Jared doesn't want a type-sensitive team, so he's making it a goal to catch as many types as possible. His favorite pokemon is Riolu, closely followed by Squirtle, which he can't wait to chose as his starter!
History: When Jared was born, his family lived in New Grove Town and he wasn't the most popular kid around. He grew up lonely, trying to befriend others, but never quite making that connection. Since then, his family has moved on over to Olivine, right before his twelfth birthday actually. When he moved there, he made it a goal to be more popular. He hit it off, almost instantly. He made two very good friends, Sandra and Nick, with whom he did everything together.
Jared met Sandra the day he moved to Olivine. She lived just a couple of blocks away and one day when Jared went for a jog around the city, she walked outside just as he went bye, waving him over. They visited and when she found out he was new, she was very excited! She had just moved in two weeks before, and had only met one kid, his name was Nick.
That night Sandra invited Jared over to he place for a bonfire, turns out she had told Nick to bring his friends as well! About twenty kids showed up, but Nick, Sandra and Jared stayed out later than the others. That night Nick told them all about the city, all the fun things to do and all of the best places to catch a bite to eat. By the time Jared went home, he knew he had two real friends. His first real friends ever. It excited him.
His friends and he were often welcomed to gather with any of the kids at their academy, where he studied pokemon with them. Sadly, this private school was not hands on so his experience with them has been limited to say the least. He was grateful for his new chance, and frequently reminded his mother of this. The two are fairly close and she usually goes to him when she needs somebody to talk to. Typically the topic of conversation is Jared's Brother. His name is Joseph and he's off on his own adventure. She is just a normal mother, worried about her son's while they're off.
Truth be told, Joseph actually rescued Jared. Not necessarily saving his life, but giving him a life worth living. When they made the move, it was his brother who pushed him to take advantages of opportunity's to unite with others. His brother had always been cool, always big and muscular. Jared lived in his brother's shadow for a long time, practically non-existent to most. His brother kept trying to pull him out into the light of community and friendship, but Jared just hid from the spotlight.
That changed with the move, because now Joseph and Jared were both new. He could no longer hide from the people that would be his neighbors and family friends. Jared came out of his shadow and found himself more comfortable in a role of being there for anyone who wanted to be with him. Anyone who needed company, he never turned people down. He isn't the kind of popular that would do that, he developed an aim to make others popular as well.
