She has jeans, slacks, lots of mens shirts like you might see someone like Gary wearing. Commonly wears tan or camo shorts, a t-shirt and sometimes a vest in the summer. For the winter, she has a heavy white lab coat that can be buttoned up and a single pair of long black pants made of a synthetic material to stop the wind. Not much warm clothes – she’s used to spending her winters in Cinnabar. Also has a little utility belt to hold various things, like her pokegear and her only pokeball. Her only “girly” clothes are a red skirt and blue shirt just like Leaf, and a short black dress like Leaf wore. This isn’t coincidence; she grew up hearing legends about Leaf. For all her clothes, the first priority is always functionality and practicality, and fashion second. She has a backpack that she always carries with her as well. On her feet she wears spiked tennis shoes suited for difficult terrain or even climbing mountains. She's short and slender, weighing only 100lbs. But she has wiry muscles built up from spending every day outdoors. People’s first impression of her is usually either that she’s sincere and open and friendly, as they see her warm smile and soft demeanor, or that she’s quiet and withdrawn and distant, depending on the situation and her mood. Either way, she usually has a fairly calm demeanor. Her usual facial expressions are a mischievous smirk ,a sincere smile, or an analytical interested "I'm examining you carefully" face, leaning forward with wide eyes and a slightly furrowed brow.

She lacks confidence in herself and her abilities.
She prefers Pokemon to the company of people, as she gets along with them much better. She's very kind to people. She has little experience with people, especially the "real world" and big cities and the people there. She can be naive, overly trusting, or simply oblivious. She's observant and intelligent, picking up a bit of her dad's skills with electronics, engineering, genetic, biology, and more.
She's often distrustful of adults at first, but she lets her guard down all too easily.
She is also rather tomboy-ish and very physically active. She loves being in and around nature and has a strong dislike for cities.
She tries to be brave, but is frightened rather easily. She is very emotional and often makes rash, spur of the moment decisions. Around people, she tends to be rather quiet, however she often puts on a 'tough' act. She does this in part to hide her emotions and her personality from others. She is loves helping people, animals, and Pokemon. Deep down, she wants to give everyone unconditional affection and kindness. She is an idealist and an optimist, always assuming the best in people and seeing the silver lining. However she isn't constantly super cheerful or annoyingly upbeat. When her ideals are at stake, or others are in harms way, she can become like an entirely different person. She will often go out of her way to protect others. She is a masochist. She grew up traveling the world with her father and mother. Her father was a famous researcher and expert on legendary Pokemon. Her mother was a ranger. They defended Pokemon and nature from humans and especially from Rockets. They settled down one day in Viridian, near Oak's research lab.
2 years ago, her father left on a journey to Johto, on a research mission. However, he never returned...her mother grew distant, depressed, and neglectful since then. Not long after, her best and only friend left to collect 8 badges and defeat the Pokemon league (if someone wants to be this person existing or new characters, just ask! We can change our back stories to mesh).
About a year ago, she befriended a Charmander at Oak's lab. She named him Glaurung. Oak never gave it away because she and Glaurung liked each other so much. However he never gave it to her either, saying things like "you're not a strong enough battler yet", "perhaps when you get a bit older", "you're too irresponsible!" and "your Mother needs you, Sarah".
One day, Rockets attacked an 8 year old boy she knew quite well. They stole his very rare Clefairy. She tried to help, but she and Glaurung were too weak. A police officer showed up and chased the rockets away. But it was too late: they had stolen the clefairy. Sarah spent a week in the hospital recovering from her injuries. The police wouldn't even investigate...she tried to convince the kind officer who helped her to go after them and dig deeper, but the officer refused, saying it was best to stay out of the Rockets business.
She decided she had had enough...this was not the first time she had seen Rockets causing pain to others, but it was the final straw. This town had too many painful memories. It was time to leave. She took with her the poke gear her parents had given her. Her father gave it to her many years ago, saying "Sarah...I want you to have this. It was mine, once. One day, you will go on an adventure of your own. It won't be for a long while now, but you'll know when the time is. When you do, this will keep you safe. And if you ever get lonely, you can call us. I programmed several numbers into it for you. Here, I'll teach you how to use it..." It had a map card, a radio card, and a phone card. Little did she know it also contained her mother's old capture stylus. Somehow, Sarah just knew that now was the time he was talking about. Tonight. She would go to Johto and find the legendary pokemon the notes discussed...and hopefully, where he went. She just wanted them to be a family again. She wanted mother to be happy...
She snuck into Oak's lab to get his research notes. Stupid Oak would never let her look at them...on her way out, she saw Glaurung's pokeball. She couldn't imagine going on an adventure without him...he was her only true friend. So she stole Glaurung as well. Looking over the notes and his diary, she saw her father's final planned destination before returning home was the ruins of an ancient civilization that connected Sinnoh and Johto. Tucking the tattered and water-damaged papers away into her pack, she and Glaurung stowed away onto a ship bound for New Bark Town. Little did she know however, it was a Rocket cargo ship...
Additional back story: when she was young, she knew Giovanni. He was very nice to her when she was a kid, before he disappeared at least. She was kind of sad about that. he occasionally played with her and Charmander, and taught her a few basics about raising Pokemon. He told her she had a gift, and that one day she would do great things. She thought he was a real nice man. Her parents, her dad especially, never seemed to trust him, and often told her to stay away from him and his Gym. She never understood why however...and had no idea he was one of the Rockets she hated so much...
Goals:
Become a world famous researcher. Meet a legendary Pokemon. Follow in her father's footsteps and figure out where he went. Become stronger. and when she feels brave enough and thinks she can actually win, stop bad guys from misusing Pokemon and harming the environment: this includes trainers who force them to fight!
