The Taillow was annoyed that the pokemon had been switched. This feather burning pokemon was not as easy as the shiny avian had been. It cawed in annoyance as it stared at it. Honou on the other hand found it quite an easy battle and didn't have to put in as much effort. A couple fire breathing moves and this battle was toast, literally.
Being faster than the opponent had it's advantages, one Honou didn't have to put as much effort and recovery into the battle. After Haley mentioned for another Ember the Charmander stood straight, took a deep breath and blew out towards the bird as it came for him. This burned the bird to a crisp as it fell to the ground completely knocked out without another chance.
The Taillow hoped now that the trainer would just leave him in peace to recover and find some food.

Haley crossed her fingers and held her breath as Honou gave a nod in response to her command, straightening up and taking in a deep breath. She waited for the bird to dive down towards her, then released the breath in a flurry of embers that roasted the Taillow to a crisp, burning each and every feather black and taking it down to the ground, where it remained with no motion.
The fire-type starter waited a moment before walking up to it and prodding it. It groaned and shifted before hauling itself to its talons. It glared at the flame-lizard, and lifted its wings painfully to flutter away, but Haley stopped it mid motion by lobbing a Poke Ball at it. It hit its broad wings, and popped open, sucking in the bird in a flash of red light. The capture device shook weakly for a moment before Ding'ing, signifying the capture of the Taillow. The Pokedex made a similar sound, and she pulled it out, simply clicking accept on all the forms without filling them out.
“Okay guys!” Haley shouted as the Poke Ball vanished off to the PC, and pulled out the rest of the teams Poke Balls. She let out the electric mouse, who ran up to rest on the vizor of her cap. Next was Belle, who drifted into the air who float next to Haley's shoulder. Taka the Treecko scrambled up to her shoulder and began to look around. Last was Sandy, who stayed at her heel and looked around.
“Let's find something to do!”

As Haley and her team was looking for anything interesting, a cold wind suddenly swept in and made the temperature drop with several degrees. The winter had clearly not wanted to let go yet, and it did its best to stay. For now, it did a rather good job and in few minutes the grass was covered in a thin layer of frost. It was cold, but not so badly that no-one was outside and enjoying the fresh weather. And such a pair was heading in the direction of Haley and her pokemon. "Piih!" Screamed a little very familiar electric rodent, who raced over the grass, kicking it up and making it rain down on its chaser, who grinned just as playfully. "Kachu!" The pikachu laughed and tackled the pichu, making them both roll around in the creaking grass. They ended not far from Haley and the pichu spotted Yokina. "Pichu! Pichu!" It exclaimed and gestured to her to join the play, completely ignoring everyone else. "Pikachu! Pichu! Where are you? Wait for me!" A young female voice soon shouted, and a little girl soon came running towards them. "Hey!" She greeted Haley with a big smile as she arrived. "Ooooh, you have a pichu too? Aren't they just the cutest? Well aside from pikachu of course, these two are just the cutest pokemon in the world!" She almost shrieked and giggled giving Haley a short chance of asking her questions before she continued her rambling. "I got those two together and they are sisters! Isn't that amazing? We're the best friends in the whole world! Granny gave them to me when I was four, and we have been together since. And Then Pikachu evolved too, and I'm sure Pichu will to soon, since she is so happy all the time." The girl had to take a breath here, as she had spoken so long without pause. No matter if Haley had started to say something again, the girl continued. "Where did you get yours from? I think it is really cute." Here She was finally distracted by Pikachu's tugging her skirt. "What?" She asked curious, and Pikachu looked challenging at each of Haley's pokemon, while sparks danced around its smiling face. "Oh. Oooh! That's right!" The girl said like she had just remembered something really important. "Do you want a to battle? It could be so fun! I'm Katie by the way, and this it Pichu and Pikachu." She giggled again. "He he, you have probably already guessed that. But what is your name?""Pichu!" Came it rather impatient from Pichu, who had already taken a battle stance in front of Katie. "Please, please, please, please." Katie begged, changing subject faster than her pokemon's lighting could travel. Picnicker Katie wants to battle! She sends out Pichu lvl 6! _________________________________ OOC: I can see Skyjewel didn't get a lvl for participating in the battle before. Can someone please correct that? With a soft sigh, Haley Diamond leaned back against the wall of a nearby building, crossing her arms as she allowed her head to tip forward, the vizor of her hat shielding her eyes as she rested. Sandy pushed the cane up against the wall as well, noticing that her master had forgotten to fold it up and away.
All of the Pokemon and their human, minus the hot-blooded Honou, gave violent shivers as the winter's breath blew through Cherrygrove, chilling any humans foolish enough to be outside and frosting a thin layer on the grass. The fire-type, noticing her human's discomfort, moved closer to her, the heat radiating off her scales warming her up comfortably.
It was Yokina the Pichu who first noticed the playing pair. Her ears tweaked this way and that, until finally she rose up like a Patrat and turned in the direction of the two electric-types, spotting them frolicking in the grass. Noticing that the Pichu had noticed her, and was calling for her to play, Pichu frowned, uncertain. After a moment, she leaped down from her perch and darted toward them, drawing her friend's attention. “Hello, I'm Yokina,” she greeted.
Haley looked up at the sound of a girl's voice, seeing the young girl dashing up to them. The thief looked her over when she neared enough that her rather poor eyesight could make her out, and realized that she couldn't be much younger than she. A green outfit, much like one of the... what did they call them?... oh yeah! girl scout uniform clung to her form, the skirt swaying with her stride. She bore blue hair, and although Haley found that odd, she couldn't say anything, for she herself had snow white hair.
Red-brown eyes opened wide when a flurry of questions were thrown at her. The girl stopped to take a breath, and Haley opened her mouth to answer, but then the girl began her questions anew. Haley's brow furrowed, the forced grin sliding down into a scowl as the Pikachu drew the girl's attention away, thanking it in her mind. She couldn't stand people like this, so excited and playful and annoying and... happy. She noticed the sparks dancing along the Pikachu's electricity sacks, and knew at once what it wanted.
Deciding to answer this question first, and get to her other questions during their battle, Haley gave a nod, digging out her Poke Balls as she returned all her Pokemon except for Honou and Yokina. She turned to Honou, and gave a brisk nod. The fire type let out a cry, flaring her tail-flame, and darted forward, mimicking the Pichu's battle stance. Crouched low to the ground, fingers spread apart, nails dug into the ground, tail swishing wildly, flame puffed up. Her eyes were narrowed, and the reptilian pupils were mere slits, a slight black in the ocean of cyan.
“Honou, Ember!” she ordered, and the fire-type nodded, breathing in deeply in preparation for the attack.
“I'm Haley, and these are my partners, Honou the Charmander and Yokina the Pichu. Honou was my starter, and Yokina I bought off a man in the forest off of Cherrygrove City. And thanks I guess. I don't really care if they're cute, so long as they are willing to train and fight.”

Haley and Honou attacked so fast Pichu barely got ready on the ground between them, before she was covered in the hot flying embers. "Piiii-iii!" She screamed from shock and pain, and the pikachu started shouting with the electricity dancing on its cheeks. "Pichu, no!" Katie gasped horrified and had to grab Pikachu to prevent her from charging straight at Honou. "I just wanted a fun battle, and I thought you would use your Pichu or another one with the same strength. Not going to burn us to crisps just because you could!" She was almost crying now, looking at Haley like she had really shocked her. "If You didn't wanted to, you could just had said so." She exclamied and had to stop since the struggle with Pikachu was too much for her to handle along side talking. Pichu panted as she fought to keep standing, locking her shocked eyes on Honou who had chosen to attack her so brutaly. They all knew it was a part of battling, but none had expected them to not care about how it went for their opponents, now they had suggested the fight in a friendly manner. But perhaps they hadn't been clear enough about that? Or maybe Haley didn't have any weaker pokemon than her strong charmander? Pichu didn't know, but she knew she was still standing which meant she had to continue as long as she could. She exhaled to calm herself and endure the pain from the ember. "Chuu." With a low sound, almost like a whistling she started to collect her electric powers. She was much, much slower than Honou, but when she first started it went fast. Soon after a lesser lightning bolt was shot at Honou from the little rodent. It didn't hurt Honou much, to do that, the Pichu needed to be much stronger, but it somehow stuck to her muscles and made it difficult for her to move. ___________________________________________________________ Pokemon Battle Weather: None in Effect Katie's Pichu | Level 6 | HP: 2/20 Status : Normal Used: ThunderShock Haley's Honou | Lvl 14 | Health : 35/39 Status : Paralyzed! Haley's eyes went wide, and her heart wrenched in her chest at the sound of the Pichu's cry. A single glance at Honou's face showed the same, and guilt quickly etched its way onto their faces. Haley didn't think... she didn't know Honou was that strong!... She had a plan, to help Yokina out, but she didn't mean for this to happen!
It took her a minute before she could respond, her mouth hanging open. “I... I... I didn't mean... I didn't mean for that to... to happen. I didn't know Honou was 'that' powerful! I'm... I'm... I'm so sorry! she gasped, and the look on Honou's face begged for forgiveness. They were both shaking, and Honou was looking to Haley for guidance. She hadn't meant to attack that strongly... it had just come out... she had had troubles controlling her flame before, but never like this...
Haley stared down at Honou, unable to look at Katie. She didn't blame Honou for this... she blamed herself. She hadn't bothered to think about how strong Honou was, versus how strong Pichu was. But, even though she was strong, she had never seen her do a burst of flame that strong... it was out of control! No wonder they said that fire-type starters were only for the strong of heart and mind. She hadn't bothered to read many books, but she did remember somewhere that the Pokemon needed heavy training – beyond what the Professor gave them – to be able to control their flames. So, what happened to Pichu was her fault.
“H-Honou, return!” she gasped, voice shaky. The Charmander was only too glad to, racing to her trainer and clinging to her trainers good leg, hiding her face in her black jeans. “Yokina, g-go.” it was obvious her confidence was shaken, and she was uncertain. “ThunderShock.” She glanced to the other girl. “If you want to still battle that is.” She wasn't sure which answer she preferred.

When Haley started to apoligize, Katie calmed down a bit. She was still a bit shocked from the rough treatment her beloved Pichu had gotten. But she knew everyone could make mistakes, and could forget how powerful a pokemon could be. And how much damage they could do against others. "Just be careful next time." Katie mumbled, just loud enough for Haley to hear. She even smiled a bit, when the terrible strong charmander was returned and a much more equal-pokemon was sent in instead. "Pichu, use Thundershock again!" Katie called out to her pokemon, as soon as Yokina had her feet on the ground. Yokina almost only got tickled by the weak electric attack, which more or less just got absorbed by her. Then she sent out a much, much stronger one herself, and the poor exhausted Pichu fell to the ground, without a sound. Katie got a prudish expresssion and looked at helplessly at Haley, like she had been decieved. She didn't have much trouble with her pokemon fainting, as she had seen it coming after the first attack. But she hadn't expected Haley to send out another just as strong pokemon after she had seemed so sorry about it the first time. "Pika!" Pikachu shouted and wrenched herself out of Katie's grib and jumped in front of her, glaring at Yokina, with sparks dancing from her cheeks. Her intentions were clear. Katie picked up the unconsious Pichu and walked back to her spot, with her in her arms. She gently tried to wake her up again. ___________________________________________________________ Pokemon Battle Weather: None in Effect Katie's Pichu | Level 6 | HP: 0/20 Status : Normal Used: ThunderShock and fainted. OOC: It's okay, you fell for my evil plot, mwahahah*coughcough* Kidding (although I think I'm done with candy for the night ;-P) I did that so Yokina could get happiness (which reminds me, she should've gotten +1 happiness, I think. Not sure if she should've gotten it at the end of the battle or not) while Honou could get some exp.
Yokina had been shocked by the amount of damage her sometimes-rival had dealt to the other Pichu. It had almost become Barbeque! She couldn't help but worry about having Honou aim those flames at her. She shuddered at the mere thought. Hearing her trainer command her to battle, she leaped down from the brim of her hat to the ground, staring at the near-fainted Pichu in front of her. She had wanted to fight it to test their strength, but it was going to faint soon.
Haley perked up slightly as Katie spoke, although she still looked upset. Haley could tell the Pichu was near fainting, and probably couldn't take more than an attack or two. So, she had decided to send Yokina in to finish the job. A weak Pokemon, weaker than the Pichu, could knock her out, she reasoned, so she sent Yokina out because she could tell she was rarin' to release some electricity in a battle, and she had heard horror stories of electric types who had electricity back-ups.
And she was right.
Yokina took a ThunderShock that barely effected her, then retaliated with one of her own, easily taking out the other Pichu. Katie gave Haley a look as though she had betrayed her. Haley honestly hadn't expected Yokina to use such a strong Thundershock. Haley had expected for Yokina to knock the other out, unless it had the ability to absorb electricity. Here own Pokemon were growing stronger without her noticing it! She nodded as the Pikachu wrenched itself from her opponent's arms and leaped to the ground, sparks dancing on her cheek-sacks.
A small frown tilted her lips as Katie went forward and picked up the wounded Pichu. “Is she okay?” she asked quietly, hand going to her bag to feel for a Potion in case she wasn't.
She glanced at Yokina. “Return,” the command was soft but not unkind. She reached onto her belt and pulled out Taka's PokeBall, calling out the grass-type. Taka cocked his head at the mad Pikachu, not understanding what was going on. “Use Pound.”

"It looks like the older sister wants some revenge," Katie exclaimed as the Pikachu was now glaring at the Treecko who replaced the Pichu. The electric Pokemon was intimidating with sparks flying from its red cheeks. "Pika Pi!" the electric mouse squeaked, telling her trainer that she was ready. "Alright, Pikachu, start with a Tail Whip!" Katie ordered upon hearing that Haley's Treecko would be using Pound. The Pikachu was the speedier of the two, and she raced toward the gecko, leaped, and then whacked around the grass type Pokemon's body. Taka could felt that his body was being pounded lightly and randomly by the electric mouse, and his muscles were a bit loosened from this attack. Then, just as the Pikachu was getting away, the Treecko spun his body and pounded the Pikachu as hard as he could. Though the pound didn't do much, as the Pikachu seemed look unfazed by the attack.

“Yeah,” Haley murmured in response to Katie's comment. The lunar haired girl wasn't surprised by the angry glare on the electric-types face, electricity dancing on its cheeks.
The Pikachu, no surprise, was faster than Haley's Treecko, and darted forward almost instantly upon hearing her trainer's command. With a leap, her tail began to whack around the lizards body, and Haley frowned. She'd never seen a Pokemon do a Tail Whip like this before. However, Taka didn't seem to be hurt any by the attack, so she didn't let it bother her.
Haley smiled, proud of one of her newer Pokemon as he twirled and Pounded the Pikachu, right before she could get away. 'Good job!' she thought, Pichu twitching her ear as well.
Suddenly and without warning, one of the Poke Balls on her belt opened, and a bright red light formed a floated yellow bell, with red striped ribbons. “Ching!” chirped the Pokemon, turning to Haley pleadingly.
“You want to battle?” asked the trainer, looking at Taka, who shrugged. 'Well, that last move didn't do much damage, and she hasn't battled yet... Okay then!' She turned to Taka and nodded, recalling him into his Poke Ball. Belle bounced forward, floating to where Taka had been a moment before.
“Belle, use Wrap!” she called, and Belle grinned, preparing the attack. This was her first fight with this trainer, well, first fight period! and she wasn't going to let her down!

Katie looked determined and nodded encouraginly to Pikachu, when she returned to her side. It seemed like the Tail Whip had confused the grass type enough, for it to relax. It would make Pikachu's next attack hit so much harder (she believed). She smiled dryly, when Pikachu ignored the pounding. It even looked like she didn't have to think of lowering the treeckos attack either, which just meant Pikachu would get her revenge that faster. Katie growled and stomped frustrated in the ground with a foot, when her carefully planned tactic fell to the ground, as Haley called out yet another pokemon. How many did she have? She frowned worried, as it would mean it would be very difficult to teach Haley and her pokemon a lesson. "Piiiiiiii." Pikachu growled, not at all losing her will to fight, just because she got another opponent. And even before Katie got time to give an order, Pikachu let lose the thunder she had in her cheek-pouches. It zigzagged through the air, and hit the chingling mid-air, just as she had grinned confidently to her trainer. It wasn't enough to stop her though, and she could easily shook off the remaining electricity, which tried to disturb her muscles. She raced over the ground towards a surprised Pikachu, who stayed where she was, as she couldn't figure out, what type attack Belle was planning, or how to react to it. Chingling grabbed Pikachu around the neck, with her striped ropes, and squeezed. Pikachu jumped in surprise, and started to bounce around, in the attempt to throw off Belle.

Haley grinned apologetically at Katie as she stomped her foot, throwing a slight tantrum when Belle called herself out. The Pokemon was excited to battle, and had been hoping to be called out. The energy in the Pokeball had manifested the wish, sending her out. It was neither of their faults. “Sorry!” Haley called, feeling guilty. This battle was going far more than South.
Belle began to doubt her choice when she saw how angry the Pikachu was. This... might not have been her best idea. She listened carefully for the order that Katie would give her Pokemon, so that she could try and dodge it, but it never came. Instead, the Pikachu took the initiative, launching a strong burst of lightning that raced across the field, striking the floating Pokemon before she could do a thing.
Belle screamed, feeling her muscles go tense as the lightning raced through her tiny body, feeling immensely glad when it stopped. She took a moment to shake off the electricity, her muscles relaxing once more. She shot forward, racing towards the Pikachu, and wrapped around her, tightening like an Ekans would around its prey.
Haley smirked at the successful attack, cheering for her Pokemon. “Go Belle!” she pondered for a moment saying something to the Pikachu, but doubted it would do any good. She quickly ran through the Pokemon's attacks in her head, then called out, “Use Astonish!”

Katie relaxed a bit, as Haley now started to use pokemon, where Pikachu actually got a chance. And she wasn't interested in pushing the other girl too much, and risk of her calling some of her really strong pokemon out against her and Pikachu. She had given up on all hopes to win this battle, as Haley always could send out some of her stronger pokemon, so Katie's focus had changed to give Pikachu a chance to vent some of her energy. She did not dare to trust Haley, and she expected more exchanging before the battle was over, but for now, Pikachu had a chance. Katie smiled grimly as Pikachu's thunder shock hit Belle, and she had to fight a giggle as Belle bumped up and down on Pikachu, as she wrapped her. Pikachu behaved like a racing rapidash and made bucks in her attempt to throw off Belle, which doesn't work very well. But Belle certainly got a bumping ride, as she got thrown around on Pikachu's back. "Ching..ching..ching.." Belle jingled with every bump. Katie wondered if she should order Pikachu to paralyze the chingling, but she decided that it was too weak for what was needed for the pikachu. "Pikachu, Thunder Shock! Full power!" She shouted to Pikachu, and Belle's jingling soon became very shaky, as the electricity raced through her. Belle was fast to obey Haleys order, and Pikachu's cries of pain, mixed with the horrible sound Belle screamed, but as Pikachu already was running, she just speed up, and forced Belle to squeez harder, to avoid falling off.

(Whoops ) Haley's lips quirked up into a smile as she watched the Pikachu race around, doing her all to rid herself of her passenger. “She looks like a Rapidash!” the girl whispered to Honou, who nodded as she watched the duo, head moving in synch with her rapid movements. The trainer couldn't help a quiet laugh at the sight of the Pikachu acting like a Ponyta, no a Rapidash, at a rodeo, dashing and bucking in a desperate attempt to rid herself of the psychic type. However, the loud jingling of her own bell Pokemon made her flinch, the rattling noise grating on her nerves like claws on a Steel type. Haley couldn't help but flinch as electricity was shot through her Pokemon once more, and wondered if the young Pokemon was strong enough for this battle. But she definitely wasn't going to switch her out – she trusted her to get this done. The screams of the duo made her close her eyes, and she hoped this ended soon. “Belle, Astonish.” she murmured, wanting to get this done.

"You can do it Picahu! Use Thundershock again to get it off!" Katie shouted to Pikachu, who started to look at bit tired from all the jumping around, but seemed to agitated to even thin of stopping. Belle's jingling once again became shaky and odd, as the electricity ran through her and made her squeeze even tighter as all her muscles were cramping for a moment. Pikachu had to slow down and catch her breath, which gave Belle time to pull herself together and shook of the last static and took a deep breath to start her astonish again. "Tun then stop!" Katie then suddenly ordered and Pikachu jolted forwards and Belle couldn't do anything else than hold on with all her might. Then Pikachu dug her paws into the ground and made a sliding stop that send dirt flying into the air. Belle was tossed forward and slammed into Pikachu's head and started to scream, though it was difficult to know if it was just her attack, or if she was scared or injured. Pikachu stood as paralysed, her head twisted in pain. Katie covered her ears from the horrible noice. "How are you surviving that!?" She shputed to be heard, and looked horrified at the chingling, who finally stopped. It took a while before Katie dared to dare to remove her hands, and even longer for her to wake up Pikachu, who had the ringing in her ears. "How do you deal with it?" Katie asked more asked again, more quietly as she wasn't sure Haley had heard her before. "Does that happen often?" She asked and rubbed one of her ears. For now she had forgotten how angry she had been just a moment before.
