Simba growled, raising his hackles to keep an eye on the Pineco, as well as alert his trainer to their newest visitor. However, instead of being startled, Justin merely stood up and whistled for Capona. His bird flew to his side, and then in front of him to face the Pineco. The bug seemed angry enough, and ready to literally explode as it waited for Justin to do something. Aggressive Pokemon like that made Justin worry, as he wasn't really sure how to handle them or what to do. Giving them a battle - which seemed to be what they want - always seemed like the better idea, versus just walking away like they had the Mankey. So, Justin figured it was time to probably exercise a bit of caution and battle.
"Capona, let's go easy on it, shall we? I know a few people that would really like to add this to their collection, ya know?"
Justin wasn't much of a collector, but he knew a few that were. Besides, it looked like it wanted a battle, so Justin was going to give it to him. Placing his hand on his Luxray's head, he tried to calm the Pokemon. Simba let his growl reside to a small rumble as Justin petted the mane on his head, and eventually sighed. His keen eyes always pointed out danger for his trainer, and this was no exception. Justin was grateful, and gave the lion a scratch behind his ears.
"Thanks for letting me know. You know my eyesight isn't as good as it used to be. Capona, Night Shade for me?"
He suggested, hoping it wasn't strong enough to knock the bug out. The Luxray watched with suspicion of the Pineco, as well as interest in Capona. Recently Simba had been the main battler, so it was nice to see another one of his teammates taking the field. As the 'leader' of their group, it seemed best and fitting to know all the strengths and weaknesses of the team he was on. Besides, there was much to learn, and the keen eyed feline knew it all too well. He watched as Capona chewed on the order for a few moments, and then nodded to confirm her understanding of the plan. Spreading her wings and ruffling her feathers, she lifted herself into the air a few feet, if only to get a better look at her target. Bugs all looked the same from this height. Tasty.

Suffering still from the rude awakening, the Pineco looked at Justin and co with a deathly glare that was somewhat undercut by the fact it was covered from tip to bottom in mud from the puddle it had landed in. Having taken in and now fully aware of Simba's presence, the Pokemon agitatedly rocked from side to side as if preparing itself ready to do battle with the sizeable mammal. It's face took another turn for the worse as it noticed the tall male trainer appeared to call in the help of another Pokemon of his. Watching a large black Pokemon swoop in from the side, the Pineco near enough topped over onto its back. All it knew was, it was dark, large and could fly. That alone was reason enough to feel apprehensive. Like it was some sort of ungodly flying behemoth that had come to spell doom and misery for the bag worm. Craning itself up slightly, the pine cone camouflaged bag worm looked up and got a proper sight of Capona and realised it wasn't quite as bad as it had first surmised but it was still threatening enough. As pine cone like as it looked, it was ultimately a Bug type and the last thing it wanted was this overgrown bird pecking away at it. Realising that as the trainer spoke to his choice of Pokemon, they were looking to do battle, the Pineco simply decided to shut out the world around it. Closing its eyes decidedly tight, the Pineco paid little attention to what Justin said about holding back and using the move Nightshade. As Capona began using her attack to try and knock some of the wind out of the Pokemon, it became apparent that despite her best efforts, nothing was going on. Getting visibly frustrated, it appeared she had spent all her energy in trying to perform a Nightshade spell but the Pineco had simply blocked it. When it had supposedly shut out the world around it, the Pokemon had actually put up in place a protect to guard itself from any would be trouble. Slowly opening one of its eyes, the Pineco appeared to be content it was still alive for another round. It may not have been the most expressive creature but it certainly hit it home that it was glad to still be amongst the living. Wild Battle

Justin watched as his Honchcrow attempted to peck furiously at the bug, with little to no effect. While Justin did get a slight kick out of it, the feelings were not shared among both parties.
"Aww, Capona, don't get too ruffled up. It's a legit move."
It was clear that the bird wasn't fond of the 'parlor tricks' the Pineco had shown, and fluffed up her feathers in rancid irritation. She was going to do battle, and she was going to do battle right. She wasn't just going to sit here while the damn bug made a mockery of her skills and prowess. She was a Honchkrow, after all. Her species were feared among the fliers for their cunning and strength. While she had her mental breakdown, Justin sighed and walked over to his feathered friend.
"Hey. I believe in ya. That's all that matters, right?"
Capona found it hard to respect many humans, especially those as silly as she'd come across. However, something was... different with Justin. It was almost as if he understood what it was like being a Honchkrow. It was almost as if he just knew what it was like to be a Pokemon, and it comforted her when the battles got rough, or when her temper flared. Soothing out her feathers from her fit, she sighed and clicked her beak shut before rubbing it against Justin's pants leg. Her eyes narrowed back at the bug, and she spread her wings in an attempt to intimidate the creature.
"HEY! That's the spirit. Try again with another one of those Night Shades. I know you'll get 'em this time."
Justin knew he was playing his cards on the table. These Pokemon were well known for their... explosive tendencies. He hoped that the creature wouldn't explode long enough for him to throw a pokeball at it. However, throwing a ball at it now meant that he'd have the same odds as he did before, but without hurting the Pokemon. And, if Pineco escaped, that still meant the Pokemon could erupt out of pure frustration. Gritting his teeth and hoping for he and Capona's sake, he watched and hoped that the furious creature wouldn't sacrifice itself to get back at the pair.
"Wish tha bug knew we weren't gunnin' for a battle, ya know? It's the one that came down all angry like..."
Justin murmured to Simba, who merely shook his head and shrugged his leonine shoulders. Some Pokemon just couldn't be reasoned with.

Noting that its protective barrier had ruffled up the feathers of the scary bird, the Pineco couldn't help but take some pride in its ability to shield itself. Many a time had predators attempted to snatch it away as food for its young. Coincidentally, it was only the other day where a nefarious Spearow had tried to do the same for its nest. Thankfully protect had pulled through then just as it had done so today. As the human male continued his reassuring pep talk to the Honchkrow, the bag worm Pokemon paid little attention as it gleeful decided what it would do for the next battle. It had got under the skin of Capona in the round before and it could more than certainly do the same again this next round. Why, if it could protect itself just enough times, surely that would mean they would get bored and go bother something else. From what the Pineco had observed, there was a rather boisterous Mankey off to a tree yonder which would more than likely satisfy any battling urges this group had. Closing its eyes shut tight once again, the Pokemon began to summon every ounce of its power to summon its protective field once more. The strain was apparent in every fibre of the Pokemon's being but it was worth it if it could hold off this terrifying bird some more. Sadly, that wouldn't be happening today. It was a simple case of the Pineco simply getting too reliant on its own ability. Having only ever used it sparingly, the pine cone imitating creature had no idea to the limits of what it could do. Calling upon it in succession was a sure fire way to land oneself in trouble. Still keeping his eyes shut, it was from the Pineco's perspective that everything was going to plan. Capona on the other hand, spurred on by Justin's encouraging words, began to summon a Nightshade attack. Using her ominous and deadly ways, the big boss bird used her innate ability to summon a debilitating spell. Focusing every ounce of her energy on the bag worm, the very atmosphere around it turned into a terrifying mish mash of psychedelic colours as they all flickered and all gradually become a deadly shade of purple. Finishing her incantation, the spell eventually went up with a poof as it dealt a considerable amount of damage, knocking the Pineco flat over onto its side. Wriggling back and forth in complete terror, the Pokemon was likely more scared of the fact its move had failed let alone the move Nightshade itself. Hopping back up onto its tip, the Pineco looked at the whole of Justin's team with fear and suspicion. Maybe it wasn't going to be as easy as just sweating it out and letting them get bored. This was most definitely going to something of a problem. Wild Battle

Justin's words seemed to spur the bird to action, and the man readied his camera. It wasn't often he got to take pictures of Capona laying a smack down, although that was Justin's fault. He had too many Pokemon, and not enough time in the day to train them all. Guilt eating at his belly, he savored the moment and watched his avian friend battle. From what he could tell... the way her eyes glimmered and her feathers rustled in anticipation for the next round, there was no doubt she was enjoying it as well. Surreo, am I really this bad of a trainer? He murmured to his friend, in a whisper. Surreo seemed to be taken aback by the question, and walked to stand at the side of his trainer.
What ever gave you that impression? You're fine, as far as i'm concerned. I mean, there was a battle with a Zubat, but i've long gotten over that... The Gallade teased, nudging his elbow into Justin's arm. That's how he'd met, Surreo, actually. Training his Zubat. A Bite attack had almost killed the Ralts, so Justin took it in and raised it into the Gallade that fought so loyally and bravely at his side for so long. I guess i'm just.. feeling bad for all of those in the Box, ya know? I mean, most get to run around in my Conservation Center, but still...
His thoughts were interrupted by the Honchcrow in front of him. She was already preparing her attack, as was her bug enemy. Justin snapped a few photos as the Pineco attempted to erect his protective barrier, and physically sighed with relief when there was no loud, bright and horrifying explosion. Why that was something Pokemon did was far beyond Justin's understanding. Either way, the Night Shade had worked perfectly, and the bug was knocked onto it's side. Wasting no time, Justin dug into the bag at his side and pulled out a Great Ball. "Capona! Heads up, i'm gonna try 'n catch it!" Letting his Pokemon know gave her enough time to hop a few steps to the side while Justin attempted to aim at the downed creature. A Pokeball would've probably sufficed, but Justin didn't want to take any chances. The blue ball soared towards the Pineco, and Justin crossed his fingers and hoped that this battle would soon be over with three shakes and a satisfying ding.

Knocked to it's side by the powerful Night Shade which had been summoned by Capona, the Pineco was certainly at a loss with what had just happened. Only moments sooner had it's protective barrier worked against the first attack but the second time wasn't as lucky. Clearly relying on that power far too much, it hadn't realised that using it in succession was only bound to lead to failure at one moment or another. Whilst defending itself in the wild, only the one Protect was necessary, then it would have enough time to either self destruct and take the wild Pokemon down with it or even better, make a swift escape and find new surroundings to blend in with. Being in Pine Gap, it reminded the Pineco just how lucky Simba had been to spot it in the first place. He was a Pokemon with keen senses, that was for sure. Usually blended in with a mixture of pine cones and other Pokemon, it was generally lucky in the fact that most of the time it could simply getting away with remaining in it's disguise. Unfortunately, luck was not with the Pineco on this day.
Managing to prop itself up before Justin threw the ball, the Pineco had a final chance to take another look over the terrifying sight that was Capona. It had earlier thought she wasn't too petrifying but after breaking through it's barrier with little to no effort, the Pineco had become shaken up and hesitant in attacking further. Surely it's fate had been decided by the dark omen. Not realising another problem was heading it's way, the Pineco flinched it's eyes shut as it was tapped by a Greatball before being drawn inside via a flash of red light.
WIGGLE. WIGGLE. WIGGLE. . . . TING!
