Now that the type has been around for some time, what are people's opinions on it?
I as a bit miffed when it was first announced as it didn't sound anything too special but i've appreciated the balances it has bought. Keeping Dragon types in check and allowing Steel and Poison a bit more offensive use is good in my book.
Of course, some Pokemon that are existence already would no doubt fall into that and i'm glad Clefairy line was incorporated. A bit surprised about some others getting/not getting the change over but alas.

I still don't like it, cause horrible cuteness. My issue besides that is just I always forget Dark and Fighting are bad against them. :V I get Dragons needed something to stop them, but I feel they could have handled it better than just making a type weak to the worst offensive types and great against the best offensive ones. I also didn't like that all the Fairy moves I've seen seem ridiculously strong, it just feels like in an effort to weaken Dragons they just made something even more powerful.
But yeah, the fact that they're all supposed to be cute and adorable (With a few exceptions.) means I probably won't ever use them, and if I never use them, I'll probably never like them. I mean I like Clefairy and Jigglypuff and a few others, but I really didn't use them back when they were normal or whatever either.

I happen to love it. Though it was the first new type I've experienced, and the Gardivor lines was always weak in my opinion. That and it actually gave offensive use to quite a few lines. And Sylveon. I may or may not absolutly adore sylveon. Eeveelutions are my weak point I swear! I happen to use them a lot, due to the fact that many people don't use Steel or Posion types. Though I will say that other than Sylveon and Klefkey, none of the 6th gen fairies are any good. I do have an idea on how to make fairy type. Someone find a Sylveon + Mishap with Celebi which ends up with the Sylveon being there during the plate creations= Fairy Type. Ok I lied. That was from Ashes of the Past, the best fan fic ever.
Well, I guess I shouldn't just praise it. It doesn't have nearly enough moves or pokemon in my opinion. It's in its opening stages yes, but dark and steel had more new pokemon when introduced right? I also think it's a bit OP. I mean, yes Dragon needed a major opponent, but flat out immunity is waaaay to powerful. If you are gonna do the immunity however, get rid of the many, many resistances. Other than that, it's not a bad type. I love that it gave some pokemon a much needed boost, and the designs are kinda cute. And Sylveon. Sylveon kills dragons with her ribbons. Though there should have been a dragon type eeveelution to balance it out.

There are some pokemon that obviousy fit the fairy type very well and I say congrats for them on that one. Though there are a couple that usually always stump me making me scratch my head wondering why they were ever put there in the first place. A grandbull paralyzed my charizard three times and I got annoyed at him for doing that. Seriously Grandbull? a pokemon like that should stay normal (Though no offense to anyone that likes that pokemon). I was a bit iffy with the fairy type myself but I love what they did wit Sylveon, Floette and some others so I'm almost all the way with it with the fairy type.

I had some trouble when first facing the fairy types in the game, and usually if I keep having trouble with them, I start to dislike them. It took me forever to learn what hit them hard, and I'm still having trouble remembering what doesn't hurt them enough. It annoys me that dark type is ineffective against them, but that's probably more because I tend to keep a dark type around. I've never used Dragon types enough for it to be a problem, and I've always found another way to deal with dragons, so I really don't have any use for the fairies. I'm pretty conservative that way.
That said, I do like Sylveon's design after getting used to it, and I kind of like the look of Spritzee too even if it's pink. Another positive is I've started to like poison types, just because they can deal with the Fairies effectively. Otherwise, poison have been one of my top dislikes since the first generation.
