As Marchbaby and his team reached Route 34 they were too tired to worry about anything but getting to the Pokemon center so they could rest and he could make some changes to his team since he really wanted to raise the Chikorita he acquired in the Ilex Forest as well as raise Chesapeake once he got a chance since she would become a dragon in her final evolution. Although it was unlikely that he would e able to raise either of them in this city he could at least have them on his team if he decided to go back to an earlier area. As they reached the Pokemon center Marchbaby booked one of the rooms they had there for the night so they all could get some rest before he made the changes to his team and slept for almost an entire day trying to catch up on his sleep that he had fallen behind on. As soon as Marchbaby woke up he headed for the pc in the lobby to make the changes to his party that he had been wanting to make since the Ilex Forest..
He put Luna's Pokeball into the pc so they could e deposited while taking out Cinnamon. With that change made he thought about what he should do next. Being such a large city there seemed to be plenty of options for him to choose from and he was not quite sure where he should go next. To be on the safe side however he decided to head back to route 34 and do some more training there before exploring more of the city. As he left the Pokemon center he reached the outskirts of the route and noticed a lake off in the distance. " I might have to try my luck there later but for now let's see if we can find anything interesting in the tall grass here." When he made up his mind over where he wanted to search first he walked into the tall grass on the side of the route.
As he entered the grass he could hear all sorts of noise off in the distance and he grew excited wondering what he might encounter during his visit to the route. After all with such a large city just a short distance away there had to be a large number of Pokemon and trainers on the route just waiting to battle him and a few Pokemon on his team really needed the chance to do so especially Shellshocker who had not been in a battle in ages.

With the recent flush of trainers on Route 34, most of the Pokemon of the route were on edge. Those with wings took to the skies. Those that could dig made tunnels and burrows to keep themselves hidden. Those who swam tended to stay in their own pools of water, refusing to come out unless tricked by a rod. The Ponyta herd, which was hurt most of all, was nowhere to be seen at this particular moment. The horizon used to be littered with the equine Pokemon, but now it was barren. What used to be a full route seemed to be practically void of all life. However, there were a few Pokemon that stuck out the trainers and poked their heads out occasionally.
A pair of keen eyes had watched Marchbaby emerge from Ilex. Only strong trainers managed to make it out of the maze unscathed, and those strong trainers had a few things that interested this Pokemon. First, was strong Pokemon. Second, of course, was food. How else would they have kept themselves chipper and prepared throughout Ilex? And third, a lack of Pokeballs. Well, hopefully anyways. Ilex held many rare Pokemon, it was quite common for the inexperienced trainer to forget to pack many, and it tended to work to this Pokemon's advantage. With a bird's eye view, Pidgeotto watched as Marchbaby reached Goldenrod. The boy disappeared into the Pokemon Center, but soon came back out and back into the route. Taking it's time, it watched for a few more moments before diving down to face Marchbaby. Wings outspread, it cawed it's challenge for Marchbaby to meet. Wild Pidgeotto (Level 19) has appeared! Will you Fight?

Marchbaby had not seen the Pidgeotto as he did not expect a Pokemon to come at him from the sky. It was still a battle however and since he had already battled a Pidgeotto before he had a general idea of how they liked to battle. Unlike Falkner's Pidgeotto this one looked a little stronger but Marchbaby was not too worried as he had a few good options to try and defeat the bird Pokemon. As he debated his choices Cinnamon popped out of her Pokeball wanting to try and talk the bird out of a battle. Knowing she did not stand a chance against Pidgeotto Marchbaby had to quickly act. " Cinnamon I know you mean well sweetie but that Pidgeotto is a bit too strong if it decides to attack. Come stand next to me while I think of what to do."
As Cinnamon moved back next to him Marchbaby was still debating his choices. Most Pokemon on his team still needed more training but with Pidgeotto's speed he was worried the flying Pokemon might try a trick or two in an attempt to win and after going through the Ilex Forest he was not ready to put up with any more tricks. As little as he wanted to have to use Kamikaze again he was not ready to take the risk of using one of his other Pokemon at the moment. He grabbed Kamikaze's Pokeball and threw it in front of Pidgeotto. As it popped open the weasel demoness appeared in front of him with her claws fully extended. She had never battled a Pidgeotto before but after fighting the army of evil spirits just a short time ago she was quite happy to battle something with flesh again.
Kamikaze was not worried at all as she stood ready for a fight. Marchbaby was very close to her by now and had all the confidence in the world that she would win with little effort thanks to all the experience she had gained while fighting the spirits. As Marchbaby and Kamikaze looked at one another they both agreeded to try and end this battle in as few turns as possible so that they could search for more Pokemon. Not wanting to use up too much daylight Marchbaby picked Cinnamon up and placed her on his shoulder so she could get a better view before he gave Kamikaze an order. " Kamikaze lets start things off with Faint Attack."

Vs. Pidgeotto - - - - - - - - - - - - - Poor Pidgeotto had zero idea what was in store for it as Kamikaze was selected for battle. It had never seen a Pokémon like her before, and the bird only felt a thrill of excitement. So long it had been since a true challenge had been presented before it, the other Pokémon of the route either poor sports or just not strong enough to keep up with it. It was extremely pleased the trainer had decided to take up its offer of a battle, and could barely keep the enthusiasm off of its face.
While it was delighted, it knew better than to just rush into battle, and took a moment to really take in Kamikaze, to study her. Uttering another chirp, Pidgeotto dropped lower so that it could prepare an attack, unfortunately making itself a nice, feathery target for Kamikaze. Before she could, however, Pidgeotto abruptly flew forwards with a startling burst of speed and slammed into her, knocking the Weavile off her feet.
Despite this blow, a rather unsettling grin slid onto Kamikaze's face, and March's Weavile sprang to her feet and quickly leapt into action. As Pidgeotto soared back to its starting position, Kamikaze moved so fast that she became almost invisible to the naked eye. With a few graceful steps, she was directly behind the Pidgeotto, claws raised high in the air before she lashed out. The blow was enough to send Pidgeotto sprawling into the dirt, gasping for breath. So... so powerful!

Marchbaby watched as the bird miraculously managed to outpace Kamikaze and land the first strike. He would have been a bit worried if the attack would have had more more but Quick Attack served as only a slight surprise in the battle and was not a major set back to Kamikaze's ability to fight. Her quick recovery from the attack impressed him but it was the powerful blow she dealt the bird afterwards that made him feel quite proud. He still could not get over the fact that just a short time ago she was a young Sneasel that went though a living hell after seeing her battle now. He was very proud of how far she had come but now was not the time to think about that with the ongoing battle.
Marchbaby was pretty impressed by the Pidgeotto's speed and bravery to challenge him but he did not want to capture the bird since he was looking for other Pokemon for the time being. Before he could give and order Kamikaze looked back at him wondering why it was taking so long for him to give her an attack order. She was not the most patient of Pokemon and had to constantly remind Marchbaby not to dilly dally during a battle since it may very well come back to haunt him in the future. Seeing Kamikaze impatiently standing in front of him Marchbaby was about to issue and order when Cinnamon tried to get him to stop the battle without finishing it since she was not a huge fan of watching a Pokemon get hurt.
As she jumped on him trying to get him to not order an attack he fell to the ground nearly hitting his head. He was not made at her at all as he knew she did not mean harm but since he did not want to capture it he tried to explain the situation to her. " I know you do not like watching battles Cinnamon and that you do not like to see Pokemon get hurt but clearly this Pidgeotto wanted a strong opponent to battle and by not finishing the battle it will not learn to pick fights more carefully next time it wants to battle. I hate having to hurt it any more myself but it is the best way to ensure it does not encounter a more heartless trainer down the road."
As he finished explain why the battle had to go on he got ready to give his command to Kamikaze as Cinnamon turned away not wanted to watch the next round. " Great job so far Kamikaze. I think our friend here will be a bit more careful next time it wants to pick a fight with a stranger but as it is still standing it must want to go another round and I am happy to oblige if that is what it truly wants to do. Kamikaze use Faint Attack on Pidgeotto to knock it out so it can take this lesson to heart and hopefully avoid similar outcomes in the future." He said as Kamikaze was glad to have finally received her orders.

With Marchbaby's order heard, the Weavile hastily dashed toward the high-flying bird. Jumping occasionally to estimate her distance and her jump, the Weavile was careful to land herself the final hit, as the bird could not stay in the air forever. Soon enough, the bird lowered itself as it flew toward the feline for a strike, a Tackle perhaps. However, the more experienced Weavile knew what she was doing and quickly timed her jump and struck the flying foe. The Pidgeotto then proceeded to crash onto the ground, passed out. A few seconds later, some of the wild Pokemon helped carried their friend away. The Weavile stood proudly, watching its foe fall and being carried away. Then, she turned her head toward Marchbaby with a grin on her face, satisfied with the training.

With Pidgeotto defeated Marchbaby was sad that knocking it out could not be avoided but hopefully the bird would learn it's lesson. With that in mind he still wanted to train Kamikaze some more as she seemed close to leveling up again and with a large amount of tall grass still unexplored he had a feeling there would be plenty more battles to go and he was certainly not in any rush to leave the area if the rumors of Goldenrod's gym leader were true. He still had not even managed to train a decent portion of his team yet but since Kamikaze was so close to leveling up again he was dead set on using her on whatever showed up.
Given her high level of physical strength he did not doubt for a second that she would be able to hold her own if she ran into anything with a decent level but just in case he was ready to use on of his other Pokemon on the off chance they did encounter something a bit too risky. As he looked down at Cinnamon the Chikorita was relieved the battle was over but she could not shake the feeling that there would be more and she would not have any part of it. Although she was quite grateful that Marchbaby saved her the grass type was not a born fighter at all and she would not fight anything unless there was no other option.
He did not plan on using her however at least not at the moment since she was far too low in her level to stand a chance against anything on the route. He did want to someday use her in a battle but for now she made a wonderful distraction drawling the attention of other Pokemon away from his other Pokemon who were actually in a battle. He fully planned on using that to his advantage later down the line as well since there was technically not a rule against bystander Pokemon during a battle so long as they did not directly interfere. With that idea saved in his head for later he picked her up and placed her on his shoulder.
As Kamikaze took the lead the group as they searched through the grass again. It did not take very long at all for a Pokemon to appear the first time and he was hoping for another encounter not caring whether or not it was a wild Pokemon or something else.

Searching through the grass, Kamikaze finally found something moving, but it wasn't revealed to be a Pokemon until moments later. Underneath a Skarmory-looking kite, a bulge of moving creature was moving around, and when it came out underneath the kite, it revealed itself to be a Rattata. The purple rodent squeaked a "Hi!?" in surprise, as it did not expect this to happen. After all, the mouse was trying to pick up a fallen kite and it couldn't figure out how to pick it up and return it back to its trainer all by itself and its tiny mouth! Tiny compared to the kite's larger area, of course! The Rattata froze because Kamikaze don't seem like a Pokemon from the area, does it mean that?.. A few intense seconds later, the youngster whom the Rattata belonged to finally caught up with his Pokemon, and also locked eyes with Marchbaby to start a trainer battle. "Hi mister! This route have been quietly, and my Pokemon and I thought it would be fun to fly kite in this heat! But man, the kite don't fly long enough before the wind dies down! If only the wind was longer!! Then I spent a lot of time running and jumping trying to get this kite flying but it isn't! So now I'm exhausted! Man, this weather is crazy!" The youngster blabbered, with sweat soaking his hair and forehead and shirt. Whether or not he's exhausted would be up to debate based on what mass of information he just spilled with no regard that Marchbaby was a stranger. "So... Do you want a battle? We lock eyes anyways! I could use this time to cool down since my pal found our kite!" The youngster smiled, picking up his kite as the Rattata sniffed the air curiously.
Youngster Samuel sent out his Level 19 Rattata! Weather= Sunshine in battle!

As Marchbaby laid eyes on the young boy he was just about to respond when suddenly a Talonflame started to circle the pair above before dropping a large package with air holes in the sides in top. Before Marchbaby even responded to the young boy he was too excited and opened the package. As he read the note attached to it it stated the following. " Congratulations you have won our contest. Inside this package you will find a dragon type Pokemon from the Kalos region called Goomy. We would also like to invite you to the Kalos festival that shall be starting soon. We hope to see you there. Sincerly, The Kalos Festival Management." As he opened the package a light purple colored blob came into view. It did not look anything like the dragon type Pokemon he was used to seeing in Blackthorn but as he pulled out his Pokedex to confirm what the package said the message the electronic voice stated seemed to confirm everything the message said. " The weakest Dragon-type Pokémon, it lives in damp, shady places, so its body doesn't dry out. It is a native of the Kalos region. It evolves into Sliggon and then Goodra and it is the only family of pseudo legendary Pokemon that are fully dragon type." Hearing that it was a dragon type event the weakest one was quite exciting to him as he was a dragon apprentice. Usually getting a dragon this early was unheard of so he was quite proud to have finally received a dragon. As he placed Goomy in the Pokeball contained in the package it disappeared. With his new Pokemon safe and sound he turned his attention back to the young boy. " My apologies that was a bit of a shock to get a delivery like that especially being a dragon apprentice. I have to agree the recent weather has been crazy and based off the Pokedex entry it is a good thing I did not keep the poor thing out in this weather. For most dragons this is great weather but I can worry about that later." As Marchbaby's nerves began to relax over the excitement of now owning a dragon type Pokemon he finally realized the young boy wanted to battle. After receiving such great news there was no way he was going to turn down a battle but for now he would not be able to use his new dragon. " As much as I would like to try my new Pokemon out I cannot do so at the moment but I would gladly battle you. Kamikaze here is just about to level up again and that Rattata looks like it has had some decent training so this ought to be a fun battle. I do warn you however that being a dragon apprentice I have a bit more knowledge of battles then most trainers on this route so I do hope you are expecting a tough battle. Kamikaze use Feint Attack to show off how well we have trained." He said as Kamikaze began to make her move. Ooc: Using both a back and front image as it will make it easier for when I switch to the ps4 later today since all I have to do is change the names at the end of the code to get any Pokemon image. If only the ps4 could select and copy images I would not need to use two here but it still kinda helps with showing just how much of a blob like Pokemon Goomy is.

VS Youngster | Samuel watched as the young Pokemon popped out of the box, eyes shining. "Wow Mister, that's such a cool Pokemon, you're so lucky!" He called out from his side of the field, The Rattata that was out in front of him nodding carefully in agreement. It was purple...just like him...What if Samuel decided that he wanted one of those instead of a Rattata? Sighing, he decided not to let himself get ahead of...himself.
"Huh? You think we look well trained? Well thanks Mister! You know, I have a friend in New Bark Town, he says his Rattata is top tier. Would you believe something like that? I think it's kinda crazy! I mean, if anything, There must be a top percentage Rattata somewhere, but a trainer much stronger than us would have one!" He inwardly laughed at his friends words. What a silly guy.
Though before Samuel could blink, his Rattata was being knocked to the floor by a swift Feint Attack, and like that it was over for Rattata as quickly as it started. "Hey no fair, we weren't ready!" But after putting his hand to his chin in thought, Samuel reconsidered. "But...I guess I was kinda spacin' out there... Wow Mister, you're really strong! So let's test ya' some more!" He said as he recalled his rat, quickly tossing another ball in the air to release his Sandshrew. --Battle!Samuel's Rattata♂ |Level 19| HP: 0/46 Status: What a Knockout!....@.@; KO'D! As the heat from the sunlight refused to let up it left Marchbaby in a bit of a troubling situation since the heat would likely weaken any water type moves during the battle. He hoped the weather would have changed as Kamikaze made her attack but as the sunlight was still strong he would have to come up with a new plan not involving Shellshocker. As he thought things over he decided to speak to the young boy hoping an idea would pop in his head." I am still in a bit of shock from that delivery but it did remind me of a bit of a problem with the weather. Anyway I have heard of some trainers using Rattata with decent moves and it does sound like a nice challenge to overcome and I am actually planning on returning to New Bark Town soon to train my younger Pokemon so I might run into your friend with any luck."
As Samuel's next Pokemon stood ready to fight Marchbaby had to really think things over since he did not want to overuse Kamikaze. As he looked at the Sandshrew his Pokemon would battle next he began to get an idea in his head. Since Bonecrusher had gained a new attack a while back this might be the perfect time to try it out. As he grabbed Bonecrusher's Pokeball and threw it in front of Sandshrew the shiny Aron groaned. Aron were usually weak to ground type Pokemon and he was not one to like being the underdog in a battle but he began to change his tune when he realized that this Sandshrew seemed a bit weaker than other ones. Bonecrusher even began wondering if the Sandshrew even knew a ground type move as he stood ready to charge.
Marchbaby had wondered the exact same thing as Kamikaze walked over to him to watch the next round. The heat was more exhausting to her than the Rattata she had battled but due to her determination she refused to go into a Pokeball and chose to stand next to Marchbaby and watch the battle in the heat. Bonecrusher did not seem to mind the heat at all if anything it filled him with confidence since water type attacks would lose a lot of power in this weather. " Bonecrusher I know it has been a little while since your last battle and you have a type disadvantage here but I have faith in you. Try an Iron Head attack on Sandshrew and let's see if you can pull off an upset win this round."

"You caught me off guard last round, but me and Sandshrew go way back! I'm sure you're gonna have some problems defeating me when Sandshrew is on the field, right buddy?" The Youngster looked down at the sand rat, which nodded it's head in agreement. Both seemed to share a good amount of enthusiasm, and that was important for battles and battles to come. "Not that he's top percentage or anything. But we'll get there one day!" Sharing a mini-high five with the mouse, Samuel gave the command of attack. "Hey Sandshrew, let's blow them away with a Swift! Not even the quickest Pokemon can dodge it!"
Marchbaby's choice of Pokemon proved to be the perfect target for Swift. Well, perfect as in Bonecrusher wasn't going to be zipping around the battlefield in a quick manner to dodge it, not that it could. Imperfect in the sense that, well... Bonecrusher was Bonecrusher. Sandshrew began to spin in place, almost like a speeding wheel. From it's spinning momentum, stars and bits of dirt and rock began to speed towards Bonecrusher, pinging off of his armor as though they were nothing. When Sandshrew slowed to a stop, it looked and hoped to find Bonecrusher damaged. However, the little iron Pokemon seemed as sturdy as ever. "What? No fair!"
Taking it's opportunity, Bonecrusher hobbled forward to slam his head into Sandshrew. The little shrew was dizzy and not nimble enough to dodge, so when the Aron's attack was executed, the little shrew felt the pain. "Whoah! Your Aron is shiny, and hit's hard? What a combo! I bet you're impressed though. Sandshrew didn't even faint!" While it was true that it didn't take one hit to trounce the poor shrew, it was looking worse for wear. Top percentage was going to be quite a while away. Samuel's Sandshrew - Level |22| Health: 35/60 Current Status: You... are a tank. Successful Swift!... kinda Marchbaby's Bonecrusher - Level |27|

Marchbaby was not expecting the young boy's Sandshrew to take such a Powerful hit and recover as quickly as it had but at the same time he was relieved to see Bonecrusher shake off he Swift attack like if was nothing. He had expected that the typing of the attack would be in Bonecrusher's favor but he did not expect the attack to practically bounce off of the dinosaur's tank like armor. By no means was it upsetting however as if meant Bonecrusher had not gotten weaker despite not having fought in a battle in a little while. He had been hoping that this battle would e a bit tougher than the first round he been but unfortunately the way things were currently going it did not look like things were going to e very hard at all.
Samuel's Sandshrew did have a bit more bulk than Rattata but at the same time it did not appear to know any threatening moves unless the young lad was hiding something. Marchbaby was not too worried about a surprise as he did not think anything on this route would be as challenging as the evil spirits he had vanquished during his visit to the Ilex Forest but as the last thing he wanted was to fall victim to any surprises he knew he had to at least be careful now that onecrusher's sturdy was no longer in effect causing the dinosaur to be vulnerable to any future attacks. Of course the good news was that Bonecrusher had fantastic physical defense which meant as long as he could avoid super effective hits he could last quite some time unless Samuel had trained his Sandshrew to use special moves in which case this next round was going to be a risk.
As Marchbaby had faith in Bonecrusher and he did not have any evidence that the young lad had anything up his sleeve he chose to go another round with Bonecrusher in hopes that he was making the right call. This Sandshrew would give Bonecrusher a decent amount of experience if he could win the battle not to mention it made great practice for using Iron Head." Your Sandshrew is really impressive. I have not met many Pokemon that can take a direct hit from his Iron Head so your Sandshrew must be pretty well trained. I am sorry Kamikaze caught your Rattata off guard but unfortunately that is how Weavile like to fight and I must admit I do like their speed but I prefer to fight with honor whenever I can." As he finished speaking Bonecrusher began to kick his back legs ready for yet another charge.
As Bonecrusher was not the fastest Pokemon in the world he figured Sandshrew would beat his Pokemon to an attack but that did not bother him too much at all if the last round was anything to go by. " Alright Bonecrusher time to use Iron Head again. With how tough that Sandshrew looks it might take a hit or two more to knock it out but I believe you have what it takes to win."

Samuel was positively gleaming at the man's kind words. " Really?! I put a lot of work in to training my Pokemon! I guess it paid off! Thanks again mister!" He called happily. " Oh, and don't worry about your Pokemon catching me off guard, it is a battle after all!" He said happily. Watching the battle, he gave a gasp as Iron Head hit his Sandshrew dead on. " Oh no, Sandshrew!" called Samuel, his voice lined with worry. He didn't want his friends to get hurt! He held his breath as he waited for the dust to clear. After it cleared, he saw his Sandshrew standing there, clearly exhausted, but still conscious. " Awesome! Now Sandshrew, use Rollout!" he called. Marchbaby's Bonecrusher nodded as he charged his attack. Pawing at the ground, the little Pokemon charged at the Sandshrew, his already hard head getting even harder. The attack hit dead on, and the dust he kicked up surrounded the two. Once it cleared, Bonecrusher could see his opponent standing and gave a small huff of annoyance. He saw the Sandshrew curl into a ball, and gave a snort as he came charging towards him. He underestimated the damage that would be done however, and gave a small yelp as he was sent flying back towards Marchbaby. He scrambled to his feet quickly, and got back into position. Samuel's Sandshrew gave a loud cry of pain as the Aron charged into him. He barely found the strength to stay conscious, let alone stay standing, but he did it anyway. The severely injured Sandshrew gave a loud groan as he fully stood up. He did manage to smile when he was told to attack the Aron, and did so without question. Rolling into a a tight ball, Samuel's Sandshrew charged towards Bonecrusher, grinning at it hit. He rolled back to Samuel, exhausted but alive.
Samuel's Sandshrew level 22 Samuel's Sandshrew used Rollout! HP: 5/60 Status: Normal I can do it! Marchbaby's Bonecrusher level 27 Marchbaby's Bonecrusher used Iron Head! HP: 67/72 Status: NormalNo you can't.

Marchbaby was still pretty impressed by Samuel's Sandshrew after it somehow managed to get back up after taking two direct hits from Bonecrusher's Iron Head which is a feet no Pokemon he had encountered had managed to do after learning the move. He was beginning to think that Sandshrew was somehow related to the cocoon Pokemon he had run into before with how resilient it was but it did seem like the last attack had really caused Sandshrew some problems despite it still trying to fight. If the young lad was planning something sneaky to try and turn the battle around he sure was waiting until the last possible moment before doing it. Marchbaby was nearly certain however that Samuel was going to fight fair however so he was pretty confident at this point.
He had grown quite a bit of respect for Samuel and Sandshrew by now although that did not mean he was planning on holding back. He did not know if Samuel had any other Pokemon or not and Bonecrusher really needed to practice Iron Head as much as he could before taking on the gym leader. Although Bonecrusher had done a fantastic job so far it was still a rather new move to him and as such Marchbaby wanted to make sure all the kinks were worked out before using the move on a stronger opponent. As Marchbaby looked over at Sandshrew it was apparent the next Iron Head would do the job if not be complete overkill in the poor ground types case. As the two Pokemon looked at one another Bonecrusher was just waiting on Marchbaby's order so he could deal the final blow.
Before Marchbaby gave the order however he began to think whether or not he should have Bonecrusher go easy on Sandshrew or not until he remembered telling Samuel ahead of time about being stronger than most trainers on the route and as such just like the Pidgeotto before Marchbaby could not go easy on Sandshrew despite Bonecrusher clearly being the stronger Pokemon at this point. " This has been a really fun battle so far. Sandshrew is far stronger than I had ever imagined. The level of damage it took was amazing and the fact it is still standing shows how well you have trained it. It does look like that last Iron Head really did a number on it however." He had a feeling this next Iron Head would knock it out however as he gave Bonecrusher his order." Bonecrusher lets see if one more Iron Head will do the trick." He said as Bonecrusher got ready to attack.
