Ryu is a perky teenager with a sense of style and a grin upon his face. He's almost always looking cheerful or happy, and if he's not then you definitely know there is something wrong. Clear white teeth, ruby eyes and shaggy blue hair combined together create an attractive appearance to most women, at least that's what Ryu believes. His skin is light and fair, lacking any kind of tan but still not so pale as to be white. He is fit, with a healthy build and broad but slanting shoulders.
Fashion-wise, Ryu also has this mixture of casual and well-dressed that when combined with his attractive face make him feel as confident as possible and blend well together. He wears a blue jacket with cyan trimmings, and purple rings on each arm of it. He also dons a white beanie to accessorize with, bearing a purple pokeball symbol on the front. His pants are tan colored slacks resembling jeans with a dark brown belt. He also wears blue shoes with white highlights.
Personality:
Ryu is a hard worker, always looking for a new challenge and is almost always positive. He has a serious stubborn streak when it comes to rushing into things without any planning or thinking behind a lot of his actions. This habit often leads him into situations he isn't prepared for, biting off more than he can chew and also causes a lot of confusion for him as he'll often try and skip parts of things and lose information in the process. Another habit caused by this can sometimes be throwing pokeballs too early.
When in battle he's pretty instinctive, and usually won't bother about coming up with a plan. He's naturally attuned to the way he battles, and so his strategies come completely off the top of his head. He doesn't train attack patterns or styles, him and his Pokemon generally wing it and this headstrong spontaneity is often perceived as cocky idiocy. He's not stupid however, he just rushes and doesn't plan.
He can be pretty emotional too, and gets bored with simple things that aren't part of training to get stronger or rushing through the routes looking for Pokemon and challenge fairly easily. Since he's become a teenager, he has become very cocky and over-confident in himself and his abilities. This has led him to fall short in many things, practice battles with his brother, school tests back before the move, even something as menial as video games has been affected by his over-confidence.
History:
Ryu was born in Fall City, in the region of Fiore. His mother was a Trainer from the Sinnoh Region, who had beaten a few Gym Leaders in her time and was also the most caring person you could ever meet in your entire life. His father was a Pokemon Ranger, and a co-ordinator in his spare time. He was a very loud man who voiced his opinions and spoke about his adventures with pride. Ryu can remember his parents from when he was really young.
But that's as far back as it goes. Unbeknownst to the little boy he was, his parents had left on a boat trip to another region and never returned. With no parents to care for him, Ryu's older brother Tastu took it upon himself to be his new father figure and look after his brother with all that he could. Spending the rest of his young life in the care of his brother in Fall City, Ryu has fond memories of learning all about the world from his brother, bonding with him and learning to train and care for Pokemon. Even learning about the Rangers, and the regions of the world... He lived a happy life.
Fast Forward to more recent times, Ryu and Tatsu were moving house. All the way to the Johto Region, since Tatsu could trust his brother to look after himself, he was becoming an active Pokemon Ranger once again and moving to the Johto Region to meet up with some of his old friends who were also Pokemon Rangers. It was a hard place to say goodbye to, but after packing up their house and a few days of transporting themselves and their belongings, it was over. After the move, Ryu got permission from his brother to go and get himself a starter Pokemon.
"Lookout Johto, here I come."
Goals:
1. Surpass his brother, but in his own way!
2. See at least one of every Pokemon there is to see!
3. Rush his way to victory as a Pokemon Master!
4. Get strong enough to beat his brother in a Pokemon Battle too!
