After defeating a thief the night before, Ray was given room and board for the night by one of New Bark Town's residents. The following morning, he packed his stuff, whistled for Skull Kid, and headed for Route 29. Unfortunately, the hail had only lessen by a small fraction by the time Ray and Skull Kid headed out.
As the frozen chunks fell from the sky, the duo had no choice bu to take a quick moment of respite under a large cottonwood tree.
"You OK, Skull Kid," Ray said to his Squirtle companion, who nodded and gave a little OK gesture with his tiny fingers in response.
"Finding Pokemon in this weather's gonna be tough," he said to both himself and his partner, "but we have to truck on if we're gonna be able to make something of ourselves."

Ducking briefly under a cottonwood tree to hide from the hail, the duo found themselves a bit stranded on the route. The harsh and hard precipitation, the cold temperature, and slippery frozen grounds, the environment around them wasn't inviting. As they trailed on, the were soon greeted by a confusingly wobbly Spinda. The Pokemon didn't look like it walked normally like other Pokemon. Spinda's normal mode of walking would make most people confused, and intrigued. Although it's body was swaying side to side, and its legs were moving in a weird pattern, the little bear seemed to be well aware of the weather going on and dodged a number of the falling ice chunks. The bear growled after it sensed the human and his Squirtle, and acted as if they were in its way. Tip-toeing and wobbling its body, it slowly try to approach, and then hope to get past, the duo, and get into a safer spot. A spot that would be about one thousand Spinda steps away. The little bear hoped the human wouldn't try to battle it. Owwie~
A (Level 8) Spinda appeared! Would Ray want to battle the Pokemon or flee? Weather= Hall OOC: I just want to let you know that usually you don't need to make a new thread after each battle, as you can continue in your previous thread after the battle with Silver. Though maybe you might have done it to make a new title. Let me know if you want me to merge threads instead. (No, you didn't do anything wrong, but I just want to let you know this. And yes, you can time skip in the same thread after each battle like "on the next day") OOC2: this isnt the first time I spawn Spinda in Hail. HAIL SPINDA. THIS IS SPINDA.

Ray was just about to lay down for a quick rest when Skull Kid poked at his shoulder with a stick, pointing his tail at the slowly approaching Spinda while getting into a battle stance.
"We hit this route's jackpot," Ray thought to himself, "Now to claim the money."
"Easy there, Skull Kid," he whispered to his companion, "We might as well level up a few of your new friends while we're here."
Pulling out one of his Pokeballs, he brought out a Pokemon he had won on a radio show the night before and threw it to reveal the Alomomola within.
"Rosalina," he said, this time a bit more out loud, "Use Pound."
(OOC: Sorry this took so long. I've been joining a lot of forums and lost track of myself a bit.)

The jackpot of the route were not a rare Pokemon in their native region however in Johto Spinda were hard to come by. Not only were they rare but as they were a sought after Pokemon by collectors the handful of it's kind that still called route 29 home were not always fond of trainers and this Spinda had an absolute hatred of trainers after so many of it's friends had been captured. It was determined to avoid their fate while showing ray that just because he had a lucky encounter did not mean this battle would be easy. The panda began to use a rather unorthodox move to start things out as the battle began. Spinda began to copy Rosalina's movements the best it could since it could not levitate nor did it breathe using gills. Although the display was rather hilarious Copycat failed miserably as it's foe had not made a move yet. Only realizing the silly mistake when Rosalina not only looked at it like something may be wrong with it's head but as she gave the panda the strange look she dashed ahead ready to strike. The fish smacked Spinda with her tail using Pound but her low level and poor strength at that level caused the attack to barely do anything. Although Spinda had made a mistake for the most part it looked as though the mistake was not very costly. The pelting from the hail hurt almost as much as the Pound and neither Pokemon was spared from the awful weather. Hitting both Pokemon all over their bodies the tiny pelts of hail were quite painful for both Pokemon however neither Pokemon was anywhere near fainting as the next round was about to begin. Wild Pokemon BattleSpinda|level 8| HP: 25/30 (83%)Status: Normal Used Copycat (No Effect) I think I messed up! VS Ray's Rosalina|level 5| HP: 31/33 (93%)Status: Normal Rosalina used PoundTime for a pounding! Ooc: Hail did 2 hp damage to both Pokemon.

Ray saw how anxious Skull Kid was to fight. The poor Squirtle was giving him the old puppy eyes, trying to appeal to Ray's soft spot. However, this made Ray chuckle a little bit.
"Alright, alright," he said, patting Skull Kid's head, "I'll get you in there, but only because you made me laugh. Rosalind, use Pound again and then switch out for Skull Kid."

Still in disbelief that it had made such a silly mistake in the last round Spinda was going to go full force this time around. The fish out of water was going to get a harsh lesson in learning not to mess with Spinda. The panda clumsy as ever wobbled towards Rosalina in a silly manner hardly able to keep it's balance. As clumsy as it looked however the silly movement was actually a well disguised Tackle attack aimed right for the fish. Scoring a direct hit the panda believed it had more than proven it's point as Rosalina cried out in shock that the panda had hit her so hard. She was not about to give up however as she had been given an order. Slowly floating over to the panda who had been so proud of it's attack that it had stopped paying attention to the fish for the time being she managed to get close enough to whack the panda across the face with her fins. The attack was more of an embarrassment than anything as a giant red mark in the shape of Rosalina's fins appeared on it's face. Then the hail delivered another round of natural justice to both Pokemon. SPinda did not think it could get any worse until Ray switched Pokemon right after the hail ended another assault on both itself and ROsalina. Taking advantage of that fact however Spinda gave Tackle another try. Skull Kid had only just entered the battle and with the hail being so bad he did not think Spinda would have the courage to attack him. The panda was beginning to get tired and the hail was not helping. However the normal type was still determined to win and so using another deceptive Tackle attack it showed both Ray and Skull Kid it still meant business even with it's energy falling quickly. It only wished this hail would end as it waited for the next round. Wild Pokemon BattleSpinda|level 8| HP: 18/30 (60%)Status: Normal Used Tackle Twice! Take that! VS Ray's Skull Kid|level 8| HP: 17/27 (62%)Status: Normal Rosalina used Pound, Rosalina switches out for Skull KidThat really hurt! Ooc: Rosalina takes 10 hp damage from Tackle unless healed she will have 19 hp until the end of this battle. Both Pokemon take 2 damage from hail from each round. This is the first time I recall seeing the switch out and attack move being used in the opposite order but I hope the rest of the staff do not have a problem with it.

Ray started his turn by healing up Skull Kid for the next assault. He pulled out an Oran Berry and threw it in the Squirtle's direction.
"Skull Kid," he said, "Catch and then use Water Gun so we can crack this nut!"

As the hail relentlessly continued to scattered down upon the battle, the wild Spinda found itself creasing with every chunk of ice which struck it's furry body. The weather was awful but it wouldn't be too much longer now. Soon, it could turn tail and run into the distance, where it could hide in safety, away from the hail and roaming trainers. That was unless Ray had a different plan, such as capturing it. The possibility not every crossing it's mind, the wobbling Pokemon continued to trip from left to right as if it were drunk. A sudden sweet smell hitting it's nose, the Pokemon stared forward curiously as Ray pulled out a berry. Unfortunately, however, it wasn't a treat for the spinning bear.
Instead, he threw it to Skull Kid, who rather greedily ate it up in order to restore his lost energy. Patting his shell successfully, it seemed that he was ready to continue. Puffing it's cheeks up, the Spinda charged forward out of jealousy, tackling it's large body into Skull Kid himself. Grimacing on impact, the Squirtle flinched his eyes, gasping as the Spinda spun on the spot and immediately crashed into him yet again with a follow up tackle. Battering his health right back down, the water type sneered before taking in a deep breath. Pursing his lips, he sent forth a blast of water strong enough to send the Spinda tumbling backwards. Both Pokemon were similar in terms of health, meaning neither could afford to make a mistake.

Ray watched with displeasure as Skull Kid was kicked about by the Spinda. This little punk was starting to get on Ray's nerves. It was clear that he was getting weak though. Calculating the odds in his head, he pulled out a Love Ball and looked at it for a few moments. It was either throw it and risk messing up, feel like a jerk watching Skull Kid suffer, or do the same thing with his other Pokemon.
"Don't worry, pal," Ray said, assuring his Squirtle companion, "This is almost over."
Ray threw the Love Ball at the Spinda and prayed to Arceus that it would work in his head.

This Spinda was proving to be a right pain in everyone's side, especially Ray's Pokemon. Two had been up to fight this strong bumbling beast, but Rosalina had already been recalled once, and Skull Kid was looking pretty low. It was a bruiser to be sure, with the four straight tackles. It was a testament to Skull Kid's defense (one could say it was probably as good as his puppy dog eyes used earlier) and although Skull Kid was hanging on, it was best to end this battle one way or another. If you couldn't use brute strength to take it out, you could always catch it. The Love Ball soared through the air. The Pokemon on the route were used to seeing Pokeballs. The red and white capsules were easy to spot out when thrown by a trainer. Not so easy to dodge, but at least they knew what was coming. The occasional Great Ball was used in this area, although for what none of them were sure. So, of course, when the Love Ball rocketed towards Spinda, it had no idea what was coming towards it. It turned as best it could and managed to stumble a few steps but the Ball wouldn't, and couldn't, be stopped. It plinked against the stumbling Spindas back before engulfing it in a bright light. The creature disappeared into the Love capsule and the internal struggle commenced. With every tackle against the capsule's shell, the ball rocked back and forth. ... Shake Shake, a-shake shake, a shake it!

Ray sighed in relief as the struggle ended with the capture of Spinda. He turned over to Skull Kid and gave him a quick pet on the shell. The Squirtle looked pretty beat up from the onslaught of Tackles, so Ray decided to carry him the rest of the way to Cherrygrove City.
"I think that's enough fighting for one day," he said, "Let's get you, Rosalina, and our new friend over to a Pokemon Center."
Skull Kid tried to shake it off and let Ray walk unburdened, but the hail was making that difficult. So he reluctantlty returned to his trainer's arms and the two continued to Cherrygrove.

With the battle against the tough Spinda well and truly over, as Ray now held it within a Pokeball in his own hands, the trainer and his ever growing team were free to continue their journey towards Cherrygrove City. But the capturing of Pirate wasn't the only positive thing to occur. During the end of his battle, the hail had begun to desist and as he scooped the Squirtle up into his arms, the nasty weather effect came to a complete stop! Now all that was left behind was a bone chilling wind but it was much better than having hail constantly falling down upon them. Regardless, Ray meandered along down the dirt path. Surely it wouldn't be long before the aspiring trainer reached Cherrygrove and then the next town of Violet after that, where the first Gym challenge awaited him.
Before the tops of Cherrygrove City could come into view, his brief walk was soon to be interrupted yet again. A strange, high pitch squeal seemed to be lingering on the wind. At first it sounded far away, it was likely a Pokemon and nothing to worry about. Atleast until he could realise that the sound was growing louder and louder, thus whatever it was, was coming closer and closer. Rolling down the path behind him was a tightly curled up ball, even the current gentle winds being more than enough to push it along. However, the ball was rolling out of control and where was it heading, other than the back of Ray!
All of a sudden, the light and fluffy creature crashed into the back of Ray's legs before falling to the ground with swirling, confused eyes. It was glad that the wind had stopped pushing it along but as it's eyes finally opened, the creature was faced with the sight of a trainer! Immediately jumping up, the Pokemon waddled backward a few paces and sprung up onto the very tip of it's tail. Body fur fluffing up, it tried to make itself look intimidating but the Pokemon was none other than the harmless and cute species of Sentret. Still, it looked ready to have a battle, perhaps the constant rolling had shook it's head up some.

Ray got up and brushed off the fall caused by the curled up Sentret. At this point, he just wanted to give his current Pokemon time to rest. Another battle was incredibly inconvenient, but Ray did see a Swimmer girl back in New Bark who wanted to trade one of her Pokemon for a Pokemon of this exact species and there was at least one Pokemon left who hadn't gained any training today.
"Alright," Ray said, rolling his eyes, "I suppose you asked for this."
He pulled out another PokeBall and released a Volbeat to fight the Sentret.
"Sans," Ray continued, "Use Seismic Toss and let's get this done with, shall we?"

As the Sentret stood alert on the tip of it's own tail, still slightly dizzy from being pushed around by the wind, it seemed ready to defend itself against the human. Although the Sentret could've actually avoided the battle, if only it had been rolling in a different direction. But if Ray chose to whittle down it's health and capture it, the encounter may wind up being in the trainer's favour. He had remembered correctly that a Swimmer girl in the area had been searching for two Pokemon, in order to trade away two of her own. If Ray played his cards right and wanted the female Machop that she was offering, then he would get a rather rare addition added to his team. Still, he needed to battle and successfully capture the wild Sentret first. With most of his team wanting a breather, he decided to use a Pokemon he hadn't yet battled with. A Volbeat by the name of Sans.
As the sassy and flirtatious bug made his way out into the open, the Volbeat stood on his little legs, as he awaited the command from Ray. Eyeing the Sentret curiously to try and work out what gender the fluffy Pokemon was, in the end it didn't matter because Sans was going to be taking it down regardless. Using his wings to fly towards the Sentret, the Volbeat grabbed hold of the Sentret's body and began to lift it up into the air. Startled from the lack of ground beneath it's feet, the Sentret began to wriggle and squirm to try and get out of Sans' grip but it's actions were useless. Turning in the air, the Volbeat let go of the Sentret with a bit of a push, forcing it quicker down to earth and landing with a slam.
Wincing as the creature landed with a thud, the Sentret rolled it's way back onto it's feet and waited for Sans to lower himself back down. When it was certain that it could reach, the Sentret lunged forward with a scratching motion of it's claws, barely grazing the surface of the bug and causing him to laugh off the attacking attempt.
Sentret: | Level 3 | Health: 69% ( 11/16 HP) Status: Normal Sentret used Scratch!
VS
Sans: | Level 5 | Health: 87% (20/23 HP) Status: Normal Sans used Seismic Toss!

Ray checked through his backpack to check if there was a Poke ball good enough to catch this Sentret during this turn. Seeing a Great Ball as his only other option, the little scrapper figured another attack should still leave him standing, but with enough HP to catch him the next turn.
"OK Sans," he said, "Use another Seismic Toss and I'll take it from there."
Ray crossed his fingers and kept his hopes that the Sentret would survive the attack, even though he could still catch it if it couldn't. After all, it's not much of a fair fight if you knock him out within the first three turns.
