Aphrodite was quite impressed by Bijou's new battling strengths. She didn't expect or her Rock/Fairy-type Pokemon to be able to out speed the Pidgey. The Carbink wasn't able to out speed the previous bird-types, but this time it was different. Perhaps, those few levels that Bijou managed to gain from her previous battle were starting to pay off indeed. Bijou was able to take out another bird-type without too much of an effort. "Bijou. You've done an amazing job today. I believe that it is time for you to take a break. Again, thank you for all of your hard work." Aphrodite smiled as she took out the Carbink's Poke Ball and recalled it back for a nice and long rest. She was pleased with the levels that Bijou had gained and she was now ready to train another one of her Pokemon, but which one? She had not decided yet. She still had quite a few younger fairy-types to train. So perhaps she should focus some of her attention on them.

After debating on which Pokemon she should train next, the golden-haired beauty decided to trade one of the new Pokemon that she had purchased at an exotic festival. "Meli, come on out!" She called out, tossing her Poke Ball into the air and within seconds one of the smallest fairy-types appeared fluttering beside her. "Hello Meli. I hope you're ready to do some training. We have to prepare ourselves for the next Gym battle." Aphrodite explained as s soft smile touched her lips. The Cutiefly let out a soft coo before shying away a bit. "Oh yeah. I forgot how timid you are at times. No worries, we will work on that, too!" Aphrodite smiled at Meli before leading them both down the path heading even closer towards Union Cave.

The path to Union Cave continued to wind and bring them past decent sight-seeing opportunities. Many trainers who weren't ready for Union Cave just yet were battling off to the side, or having picnics with their Pokemon. They were too preoccupied to pay Aphrodite much mind, and instead, focused on their own endeavors. The day wasn't all that bad for it, after all. Aphrodite didn't have far to go to get to Union Cave, and the small little peak of the rock structure was just barely visible over the tree horizon. With her tiny fairy companion, there was much to look forward to. As long as they were careful, they wouldn't have any issues.

Spinarak watched the trainers along the route with dismay. All of them were busy! They were preoccupied with their own lives, which meant none of them had time for Spinarak. The spider let itself sigh before clicking it's mandibles together with dismay. The tiny click sounds almost drowned out the high pitched whining of tiny wings as they flew by under the tree it had perched on. Spinarak skittered to the side of its tree, peering down at the path below to see what was causing said racket. This spider had excellent senses, how else would it avoid predatory birds that plagued this route? Underneath the tree, following the path to the strange cave ahead, was a blonde trainer and a little fly!

Stomach rumbling, Spinarak began to descend down the tree, legs skittering to keep a good hold on the bark. It would have to run to catch up to Aphrodite and Meli, but it could be done. After it took down that strange fly in battle, Aphrodite would feed it to Spinarak, yes? The trainers that it had been pining for (especially the picnic trainer, that food looked good!) left it's mind as Spinarak ran up behind Aphrodite, clicking it's mandibles excitedly. Once it was sure it had Aphrodite's full attention, it backed up a bit and prepared itself for battle. Hopefully the trainer got the memo. The memo about handing Meli over as a snack, however... that was to be determined.

Aphrodite's warm amber eyes sparkled as she admired the various sight-seeing opportunities that surrounded her and her Pokemon. She could see a couple of trainers battling it out against each other and from she could see the trainers around the route were indeed a lot stronger that some of the other trainers that she had battled against before making it here on this route. She could also see a few fishermen casting their rods out into the flowing river. She could even smell the delicious scents of some of the foods that the picnickers had prepared for themselves and their Pokemon to enjoy. "This route is a lot more livelier than the other routes that I've explored so far. I kind of like it though, it's nice to see other trainer enjoying such a beautiful day with their Pokemon, too." Aphrodite stated, slowly glancing over at the tiny, bee-fly fluttering not too far away from her. Meli's beady eyes glancing over her surroundings, too. However, unlike her trainer, Meli found herself become slightly more anxious with all of the movements happening around her. "Don't worry Meli. You have nothing to be afraid of here." Aphrodite spoke calmly, extending her index finger out and allowing her Cutiefly to land on it. Meli nodded her head at Aphrodite and greeted her with a soft coo before fluttering away from her trainer's finger and circling around Aphrodite's head at a fast pace. Aphrodite had learned that Cutiefly offered enjoying fluttering around the heads of who people, who held auras similar to those of a flower. Therefore, Aphrodite thought that it was cool that she possessed a flowery-aura. Flowers are seen as delicate and beautiful after all,

While Aphrodite and Meli continued to travel along the path leading them toward the next destination, Aphrodite soon found herself coming to a halt after hearing the sound of something clicking behind her. The golden-haired beauty quickly turned around noticed a small spider-like Pokemon clicking its sharp mandibles at her. "AHHHHH!" Aphrodite shouted at the sight of the creature. Aphrodite had always had a small fear of spider-like Pokemon. Meli also found herself letting out a startle cry as noticed the Spinarak, too. The Cutiefly was well aware that Pokemon like Spinarak enjoyed making snacks out of small Pokemon like her. However, there was no time for her to think about that right now because she needed to protect her trainer. Meli inhale and exhaled a deep breath before fluttering over towards the Spinarak, attempting to put on a brave face. "Q-Quick Meli use Stun Spore then follow up with Struggle Bug!" Aphrodite commanded her Pokemon.

Note to Mod: No worries! You're doing it right. I'm not quite ready for her to actually enter the cave yet. Meli used Stun Spore and followed up with Struggle Bug. Running shoes in effect!

Apologies in advance; I took this and then started feeling a little sick. So. I'm finishing it, but. It's probably bad.

Aphrodite's shriek of fear startled the little Spinarak. Most trainers just got on with fighting it; this reaction was quite unexpected. It didn't know what the noise was meant to do, but it was quite scary. Fortunately, the Cutiefly that it had its eyes on flew forth into combat, which egged the Spinarak on to fight back. The spider's planned lunch made the first move, flying directly above her opponent and beating her wings strongly. From the tips of said wings, a fine dust fell down through the air. Spinarak scuttled across the cave floor, trying to avoid the spores but to little success. Its legs temporarily locked up in paralysis, proving Spinarak's worst fears. This morsel was making itself quite difficult to capture. It was time for Spinarak to subdue the prey. It looked straight up at Meli, who was now flying in a circle and waiting. Spinarak opened its tiny mouth, a purple glow emanating from within. Moments later, it spat out dozens upon dozens of thin darts, which shot at high speed toward Meli. Panicked, the Fairy type tried to change direction and flee, but once again the attempted dodge was futile and the stings made contact. Meli screeched in pain, the super-effective attack taking its toll. She dropped about half a foot in the air as she tried to regain her composure as soon as she could.

With a strong hit already making its mark on her, Meli looked just a little worried as she carried out her second order. She lowered her body toward the ground, the pace of her wingbeats roughly doubling as she did so. Once she was within range, Meli fired off an orb of lime-green energy at her opponent. Spinarak wasn't in much of a state to do anything, its legs now refusing to cooperate with it at all. As a result, the green sphere struck it square in the back. What a bad day to be a Spinarak. Now it was suffering paralysis and getting hit with weird energy things. It was not impressed. It gathered as much strength as it could, fighting through its paralysis and jumping. Who knew Spinarak could jump so high? Colliding with Meli, it wrapped its limbs around her and squeezed tightly, giving her a nice little hug. Or, it might as well have been for all the damage it seemed to be doing to her. Meli looked thoroughly confused. Why was the Spinarak hugging her now? Had it lost all sense?

Meli was able to out speed the Spinarak for the most part and she managed to land both of her attacks. The small bee-fly Pokemon felt quite proud of herself. However, she soon found her confident being knocked back down a bit once the Spinarak broke through its paralysis and fired an array of poisonous barbs into her direction. Meli let out a painful cry as she felt those sharp barbs piercing into her small body frame. Aphrodite felt her heart stop for about a quick second as she watched her beloved Pokemon endure the pain. "Meli!" She called out, showing her concern. She thought about withdrawing her Cutiefly and sending out another Pokemon to take her place. Unfortunately before she could do anything to save her Pokemon, the opponent attached itself to Meli and attempted to hug her to death. "Meli, you have to shake that spider off of you! Fairy Wind!" Aphrodite commanded out loud, her voice a little shaky from the intense battle happening right before her eyes.

Aphrodite's warm amber eyes locked onto he battle as she waited for Meli to carry out her command. She hoped that her Pokemon would be able to shake off the Spinark's grip before it becomes too late. She gripped Meli's Poke Ball in the palm of hand, waiting for the perfect moment to withdraw Meli away from the battle incase the battle continued to get even more intensive for the Bug/Fairy-type Pokemon.

I just clocked that I listed Meli's HP as "100% (19/35)". My bad. ^^;

Spinarak wasn't going to give up on a nice meal such as this. Not without a fight. It continued to latch on to its delicious prey, salivating at the idea of devouring this lovely little insect. Meli, however, tried her best to escape the tight clutches of the spider Pokemon, her wings buzzing fiercely. She wriggled as much as possible, letting loose a pink-tinted gust from her body as she did so. The Fairy Wind clattered into Spinarak's face and, along with the lingering paralysis, forced the Bug/Poison combination to let its grip go. Spinarak didn't look particularly harmed as it gathered its mind once more, but it was incredibly shocked and disappointed. It realised that it would have to do a lot more work to subdue this Pokemon. It scuttled up to Meli before she could recover her aerial position and sank its fangs into her mid-section. Once it had a good grip, it started sucking strongly. Meli squirmed as she felt her very life's essence escaping from her body. After a couple of seconds, Spinarak loosened its grip and Meli shot back into the sky as quick as she could. That was one scary Pokemon.

A sigh of relief escaped from Aphrodite's lips as she watched her Cutiefly escape from the Spinark's death grip. "Good job Meli, just keep hanging in there." Aphrodite encouraged her Pokemon. The Cutiefly let out a small coo as she nodded her head at her trainer's words. Meli was still feeling slightly overwhelmed by the battle, but she was still wanted to make her trainer proud of her. Aphrodite believed in her Pokemon, but at the same time she still had Meli's Poke Ball in her hand just in case she needed to recall Meli back to her orb. She truly wanted Meli to be able to win this battle on her own. However, she understand that Meli was at a major disadvantage at this time and she did want her precious Pokemon to get too beaten up in battle. "Meli, let's try another Struggle Bug!" She commanded, nodding her head at her Cutiefly and encouraging her to continue fighting on the battle field.

The ravenous little Spinarak was proving to be quite tenacious in its pursuit of a decent meal, and Meli's HP was falling slowly but surely. However, Spinarak hadn't gone unscathed so far, and the battle was far from over for either side. Once more, it was Meli to make the first move, as much as the paralysed Spinarak wanted to get the jump on its prey. Her wings buzzed fiercely, her body beginning to glow as she descended slowly toward her opponent. Spinarak recognised this attack from earlier and tried its best to start dodging, however the paralysis from the beginning of the battle was finally playing its part in keeping the spider Pokémon somewhat stationary. Meli cried out loudly as she launched another Struggle Bug attack, which once again hit its mark with ease, pushing it down against the ground. Spinarak endured the pain as best it could, wishing dearly that its food would calm down and let it feast already. As if to try and force this issue, Spinarak then started shooting a mass of silk from its rear spinnet, aimed at Meli. The silk stuck itself to the Fairy type's wings and body, causing her movements to slow quite considerably. Meli frowned, but she could be relieved at not taking any damage at least.

A slight frown spread across Aphrodite's face as she watched the Bug/Poison-type Pokemon release a blast of it's silky web. The attack itself did not deal any damage onto Meli's small body. However, it did managed to slow down her Pokemon quite a bit. "This one is a little trickster, I'll give it that." Aphrodite whispered to herself as she continued to look towards the battlefield. "It is okay Meli, you didn't get hurt. That's all that matters. You may be a little slower, but we can still fight back. Meli use another Struggle Bug!" Aphrodite commanded, hoping a for critical hit or at least a paralysis on the opponent's side, since it has yet to be effective by its status.

Still frustrated over not getting what it wanted, Spinarak's stomach began to rumble. If the battle lasted much longer, it feared it might actually faint from hunger alone. Of course, this was entirely untrue and was just its mind playing tricks on it, but this notion seemed to give it a second wind. It pushed through its paralysis and started to make its way toward Meli, but the little Cutiefly wasn't going to let a little sticky string stop her from fighting this thing back. She closed her eyes and focused, wings buzzing as quickly as they could in the current conditions, letting another of her Struggle Bugs loose. The energy coursed quickly toward Spinarak, knocking it for a loop and dazing it quite considerably. The little spider took a moment to recover, all of these attacks starting to take a toll on its mental state. When it could, it continued its gruelling journey toward Meli and bit down on her abdomen once again, taking another short meal to keep itself satiated.

"I know that this is your first battle Meli and this one is actually a little challenging, but you can do this! Just keep hanging in there!" Aphrodite continued to cheer on her Pokemon from the sideline. Despite how the Pokemon battle was going right now, Aphrodite still found herself to be quite impressed by Meli's perseverance. "Meli, let's give it another Struggle Bug." She commanded in a calm tone. It was fitting that her Pokemon new a move called Struggle Bug, and in her current state she was sort of a bug struggling to knock out her opponent with noneffective moves. Aphrodite would have to be sure to teach her Cutiefly some more effective moves against Bug and Poison-types at some point.

Meli started to glow as, her wings started flap quickly. Even with the sticky webs stringing her wings together and slowlying the cute fairy type down. As the glow grew brighter and brighter before flying towards the hungry spider Pokemon. Spinarak after getting hit by Meli's powerful attack was more then slightly annoyed. The spinarak started to raise it's behind, as a shimmering purple glow came over it. Just before fire off however, a static charge spread throughout the small spiders body stopping it in it's tracks. He was more annoyed then ever he just wanted his food.

Aphrodite and Meli's eyes both widen as the two of them watch the small spider extend its backside. It wasn't too much longer before its backside started to glow a beautiful purple color. Aphrodite didn't know too much about Spinark, but from the looks of the purple glow on its behind it seem to have been preparing to fire some short of poison-type attack. "Meli, be careful! If the Spinark manage to fire out a poison attack then it will be super effective against you!" She warned her Pokemon. Luckily, the paralysis had finally overtaken the small spider's body. "Phew, that was a close one. Meli, let's try to finish this off with another Struggle Bug!" She commanded her Pokemon, hoping to finish off the weakened opponent with one last move.

The battle was nearly going on at slow motion with all of the speed dampening that had been thrown around. Stick webs half tying the cute little fly to the ground versus a spider with jolts of electricity jarring its muscles from time to time. Both combatants were undoubtedly frustrated with the stress of the fight but both weren't about to give up. Meli was on the verge of winning and the wild Spinarak wasn't to have all of its energy go to waste trying to obtain the sweet morsel before it. All of its carefully laid plans had been thrown to the wayside as it considered what it could do with its remaining shred of energy. Though, perhaps it wouldn't have to come up with anything depending on how the next exchange went.

Meli buzzed closer once again, shining brightly in a repeat of the previous rounds of combat. Spinarak was getting quite familiar with the struggling bashes railing against its abdomen. It wasn't any happier about it than before but there was less and less it could do about it with its waning strength. Barely clinging to consciousness the spider just let its body do whatever felt natural with such prey in close proximity: grab it.

In a sudden burst of whatever the Spinarak had left, the spider pokémon jumped at Meli and latched all of its legs around the yellow fly. Then, with all legs hooking together, Spinarak began to constrict as tightly as it could muster. Honestly it felt more like an uncomfortable hug than an attack, and before the cutiefly knew it the spider was already letting go.

It literally felt like the battle between the two bug-types had been going on for about an hour now. The battle itself was starting to become both mentally and physically draining for both opponents. The golden-haired beauty was slightly annoyed that the battle had lasted this long at this point. It did not help too much that the opponent did not seem to want to back down at all. Despite the fact that it was barely holding on now. The Spinarak had managed to use its last little bit of strength to squeeze Meli's body again. Sadly for the Spinarak, its attack was not enough to knock out the Cutiefly. "Alright Meli, this is our chance to finish this battle once and for all. Meli send that Spinarak flying with a Fairy Wind attack!"
