I know its a bit too soon to be having this but in a way it could be quite good as we can post our feelings towards the games for those that do have them and then maybe three years down the line update how we feel with a longer retrospect. I myself am really enjoying these so far but I can't help shake this feeling that Nintendo have taken one step forward and two steps backwards on a number of things. For example, I am REALLY missing the lack of a Poketch as it was just nice having that on the bottom screen with the time. Pokegear is nice don't get me wrong but its a pain having to go INTO the menu and then check the time. Secondly, the loss of slot machines and not bundling them together with Voltorb Flip is pretty stupid. A third criticism... What the hell. I know its a faithful remake but would it have hurt to raise the levelling a little on some of the gym leaders and maybe JUST MAYBE give them more Johto centric Pokemon? Chuck is crying out for a Hitmontop as he barely has anything as it is. Other than that (All I can think of for the time being) everything is just nice and dandy. The streamlined Pokemon profiles are a nice touch as it cuts down on the amount of page flicking you have to do. I can't really comment too much on a retrospective look as I have yet to complete it but these are my thoughts so far on it anyway.

I am slightly disappointed in Soul Silver. Once the initial awesomeness surge died out, it wasn't all the great. All the new graphics and music is pretty good, especially when you compare it to the original. And the touch screen menu is pretty fun, but I find my self getting aggravated from the lack of the pokegear. Which was so useful back in Platinum. The step counter and maps where so useful. Opening the pokegear to find the map for the roaming legendary pokemon is a pain in the pikachu, and the step counter was amazing for breeding.
The game corner was a huge let down. Voltorb flip is fun, but I miss the evil slot games. And you can't just buy coins to make you're life easier. But the biggest disappointment was definitely the levels of the gyms, and trainers. For most of Jhoto you are in the 20s or low 30s. Which is great and all, until you reach the elite four and you find out they are from the 40s-50s. And I know you get to go and beat the Kanto league next, but the Jhoto region has no really challenge at all! I just breezed through the entire Jhoto region after three days of owning the game!
