Essence often sets high expectations for herself. She is quite conscientious, motivated, and detail-orientated in her work. Essence grew up in an Camphrier City. Essence was born and raised in an upper middle class family. However, her family never did believe in spoiling themselves with the finer things in life, because they did not want their great wealth to consume them. Of course, they would treat themselves to a few of the finer things in life every once in a while. The Hart family also did not like to rub their wealth into the less fortunate families within the city. Instead of doing so, the family would reach out to help support some of the less fortunate families.
Essence's father worked as a well known Pokemon Doctor in the community. He was mostly known for his amazing home remedies and his overall knowledge with working with various types of Pokemon. Her father's job was slightly demanding, since he spent most of his time traveling around the different parts of Kalos to deliver his unique medicine to his clients. Essence's mother was a retired actress from back in the day. She later became a co-owner of tea shop and dance theatre, where she once taught a few dance classes. Essence, having to spend a lot time with her mother in the theatre, soon started to learn the skills of a graceful and elegant dancer and also how to become a polite hostess for visitors. She even performed dances with the other girls, acted as a tour guide and even helped her mother with the tea ceremonies from time to time.
While in school, Essence's parents and teacher soon discovered that Essence was a clever young lady. She managed to master all of her skills in school and even managed to complete majority of her classes ahead of time. Her fellow students quickly became envious of her and even started to tease her. At the time, she did not understand why the other students did not seem to like her. It bothered her so much that she started to hate going to school and she asked her parents if she could become home-schooled. Her parents tried their best to comfort their daughter, but nothing seem to help. Well, nothing that they could do to help her, anyway. Dancing and singing always helped her to clear her mind and even helped her focus on other things that she enjoyed in life. One day while strolling through the city, Essence witness some local trainers having a Pokemon Battle. The older trainer decide to teach her the ways of becoming one with Pokemon though battles. It was not long after that Essence discovered her new passion for Pokemon.
During a winter break, Essence and her parents decided to take a luxurious trip to the Johto Region. The family ended up taking a hiking trip to one of the ice mountains. Everything appeared to have been going well during the hiking trip. Essence and her mother's' Pokemon were having a great time playing in the snow, and her parents were discussing other plans that the family could participate in next. However, things soon started to change quickly as a massive avalanche took action surprisingly, taking the family down by force. Essence's parents where the first to go down with the avalanche, taking the worst part of it while Essence and the Pokemon only took a small amount of the damage from the disaster thanks to her mother's Fennekin's quick ability to use its flames to fight back some of the falling ice. However, Fennekin was not able to fight off the ice long enough for her parents to escape. Luckily, a Wild Absol appeared and rescued both Essence and her mother's Fennekin from the disaster. Unfortunately, the ten year old girl and her parents' Pokemon were not able to save the girl's parents.
Essence was left alone in a foreign region without much of anything to keep her warm and safe. The young girl cried and feared for her life, but luckily she still had her mother's Pokemon and the Wild Absol to take care of her. The Absol took it upon itself to lead the young girl and her Pokemon back to its small cave. The Absol provided the young girl with local berries, herbs and protection. Essence found herself living within the mountains for about three weeks until a mysterious man and his wife stumbled up on the Absol's cave and discovered the human girl living with the Pokemon. The adults did not waste anything time questioning the young girl about her parents. Essence explained everything to the adults and the mysterious family quickly offered the young girl a new home. Essence was a bit skeptical at first, but later took up their offer. However, the family had to defeat the Wild Absol in a Pokemon battle before it allowed the strangers to take the girl. The mysterious man called out a Scizor and made quick work out of defeating the Absol. Once the battle was over, the Absol allowed the humans to take Essence.
A few years passed and Essence found herself slowly growing close to her new family. Her new adopted family were starting to make her feel like she was apart of their family. Her adopted father was clever Pokemon Scientist and her adopted mother worked as a school teacher. Essence spent majority of her time bonding with her new father. He often allowed her to watch him work in his lab as well as invited her out to do field work with her. One thing that Essence did not know until later that her father wasn't just a normal scientist, but a scientist for Team Rocket. Once Essence turned sixteen years of age, her adopted father had introduced her to Team Rocket. He knew that the boss would be extremely impressed with Essence's knowledge concerning Pokemon and her sharpen battling skills and he was correct. The former boss of Team Rocket took a great interest in his colleague's adopted daughter and her potential to become a vital member of his team. It wasn't too long before Essence found herself studying under Team Rocket. The former boss had promised her new learning skills that would enhance her knowledge and skills related to Pokemon.
A couple of more years passed and the former boss of Team Rocket believed that it would be a good idea for Essence to attend a local university to increase her knowledge related to Pokemon even more. Essence was elated to know that she would be given the opportunity to enhance her over all knowledge of Pokemon and work towards her dream of becoming a Pokemon Researcher. While attending the university, Essence focused majority of her studies on subjects such as Theory and Ethics of Pokemon Evolution, Human and Pokemon Dynamics, Pokemon History and Origin, and Pokemon Abilities and Development.
Once graduating from the university, Essence discovered that the old Team Rocket had been revamped over time. She is know determined to prove herself to the Neo Team Rocket in hopes of working her way up their ranks and becoming a lead researcher for the organization.
