Name: Lyon Waxman
Age: 16
Gender: Male
Trainer Type: Coordinator
Hometown: Gateon Port, Orre Region
Appearance: Lyon has messy brown hair with a perfect part in the center. His eyes are sharp giving him an unfriendly appearance most of the time which often gets him into unintended fights. His eyes are green and his skin tanned from long days in the sun. He is not yet at his peak, standing at 5ft 6. He has good muscles from working in the docks and with sailors. His neutral face tends to appear as a scowl and his passive smiles like a condescending look.
Lyon wears in his hair a feathered ornament behind his right ear that he got from his sister. She told him it was a feather from Ho-Oh when he was young but it was really from a Fletchinder. Around his neck he wears a long scarf that reaches his knees, because he thinks it will 'make him look cool'. On his left wrist he has a bracelet with an alternating red and black triangle pattern. His torso is covered by a trenchcoat that he uses the pockets to carry his pokeballs. The rest of his garb is a simple white t-shirt and dark jeans with tennis-shoes.
Lyon wears a staple of black for most of his clothes. The only two exceptions would be his purple scarf and his shirt. As he walks you would think he'd slouch and be closed off, but contrary to this he has an open stance and tall, proud even, posture.
Personality: Lyon is a secretive nerd, in that he pretends to be a cool guy but is into all sorts of books and research. He also finds coordinators more intriguing than the more common battlers. He idolizes his elder sister Scarlet who set out on her own journey many years before him. Living in the Orre region has not lent itself to him being able to getting his own pokemon however, due to the lack of wild ones. In turn he was often glued to the tv or computer when he was not in school or helping his father with work. When his sister would send him letters or trinkets from her adventures it would ignite his desires further.
In public he tends to try and overcompensate for his hobbies with a 'cool' persona that often either turns out jerkish or is seen through entirely. This attitude and his naturally dour look lands him in confrontations often and instead of trying to clear the air or change the reputation he embraces it. His greatest weakness would be Tyranitars due to an incident as a child, they strike him with fear. He keeps it a secret but he volunteers at the local lab frequently, and if allowed practices battling and coordinating with the pokemon there. Overall with people he is rude and rough but pokemon extremely kind.
In order to not appear weak he tends to take the initiative in conflicts for better or worse. He is also not very accustomed to being the weaker one and has rarely had to adjust his strategies, leading him to be inflexible. A large weakness he will have to overcome as a pokemon trainer. His attitude and approach to life is deeply ingrained but he does view his journey as an opportunity for new beginnings and a chance to be more open with himself and others. He is optimistic despite his frequent reactionary pessimism.
History: When Lyon was a young boy he watched his older sister leave home and not come back. She sent photos, letters and trinkets but never herself. All the adventures sounded so fantastic he could not wait to become a trainer himself. This enthusiasm lent itself to two things, an adventurous and mischievous nature and lots of research, as well as resentment at living in a region devoid of their own pokemon not imported. Living at the docks he would frequent to see the pokemon that were brought in and one would lead to a rather unfortunate event. A tyranitar was brought in and rather angry.
The fearsome pokemon broke free of its cage and went on a rampage. Lyon was hurt during this and received a large slash across his chest hospitalizing him. This event scarred his both mentally and physically leaving him deathly afraid of Tyranitars but he still considers it a good learning experience and to always respect a pokemon's power. After his release from the hospital he returned to school and was often badgered with numerous questions about it, or alternatively teased with pictures of tyranitars and the like as bullies are so oft to do. This event brought his sister home for the first time in years. At the time she gave him the 'Ho-Oh' feather hairpiece and encouraged him not to give up or fear pokemon and to stand up to bullies. It was good advice for him with some unintended complications.
Lyon took standing up to bullies too far when he got into his first fight. In fact he threw the first punch and things rolled down hill from there. He won the fight and thus people left him alone but he became a delinquent in their eyes and a scary kid. When he turned twelve he began to help his father down at the docks and was quite excited to start saving up funds for his own adventure. He even began to volunteer at the lab in order to work with Pokemon as a sort of preclude of sorts. His life quickly turned into a routine of just make it another day and make another dollar. When he had enough he was 16 and with a farewell party from his family he was on the plane to a new region.
Goals: Lyon wants to become an accomplished battler and coordinator with no particular end goal in mind. He mostly just wants to have an adventure all his own. If he were to put a finite goal forth he would have two, to meet and defeat his sister in a proper battle, and to get a feather from the legendary Ho-Oh, that would surely show his prowess and show his sister up from a Fletchinder feather.
