After so many years and so many backbreaking hours he was on a real Pokemon adventure. It was an incredible feeling and excitement should have been overflowing. The plane ride was a far more enthusiastic adventure after all, and now he had a pokemon, his very own squirtle! But, as he emerged from the lab it was just too gloomy. The town was flooding and he was forced to keep his hood up. He would not be deterred but it was not a good start to his adventures, nay, his legend.
Yeah right, he scoffed at his own thoughts as he trudged through the poor weather and mud. Perhaps he really should have just waited to start. He found himself sighing as his foot got caught in a particularly clingy bit of mud that threatened to steal his very shoe from him. "Okay, Squirt," He began, speaking to the respective pokeball, "We are going to become the best duo around, and then we will have others join the team to boot!"

The best duo around. This was quite a bold claim, but every journey started with just a single step. Even the most fruitful ones. There was no reason for young Lyon to not believe this at this stage, and who would be the one to argue with him? The teenager set foot in the flooded region that was Route 29 with this vague dream in mind, ready to begin. The landscape wasn't exactly what most would have imagined when they considered starting their own Pokémon journey, with the aforementioned flooding lending it quite a sullen, depressing look. That said, there was little one could do about the weather conditions so it wasn't something to dwell on. All this new trainer could do, in fact, was carry on. As Lyon progressed through the area, it was clear that the native wildlife were almost all holed up in their homes, not willing to take a chance on the weather as it stood. However, as always, there were some who challenged the heavens themselves. Brave young souls who ventured out in search of adventure. Or perhaps what lured them out was the bragging rights of braving these conditions. Either way, the occasional wild Pokémon cried out in the distance, which would keep hopes of an encounter up. And it wouldn't be much longer before one such encounter happened. A Spearow eyed up Lyon from high up in an overlooking tree, seeing his feet struggle with the muddy terrain. This human looked weak enough. Perhaps he'd be a good bit of levelling fodder. This bird looked quite young, young enough to have just left its nest, in fact. It took a moment to consider whether it was a good idea to make a move, before deciding that this was its best chance at an easy win. If the human couldn't even cope with mud, it wouldn't cope with Spearow and its ferocious Peck attacks. The battle-hungry Flying type flapped its wings, taking off ungracefully. It wasn't the best flier at all, and it dropped down to the ground in one of the most erratic paths possible. As it hit the ground, water splashing all around its feet, it cawed loudly and spread its wings as a kind of battlecry. It was ready to fight, but was the human?
A wild Spearow (Level 2) has appeared! Will Lyon fight or flee? If fight, pick a 'mon and orders.

Lyon was grumbling about the muck and it seemed his complaints had caught the attention of a pokemon. As it began to descend for him managed to take a sucking step back. It was a... a spearow! A flying type was said to be a good first catch! Perfect he thought. "Coming cherry picked for me are ya!? Come on Squirt! Let's see how the battling is done!" With a scissored motion of his arms he sent out his pokemon. He tossed his bangs aside and snapped his fingers. "What beautiful courage this one has. Go! Use Tackle on it!" He commanded of his squirtle.

The foolhardy Spearow stared down the trainer, ruffling its feathers and hopping in preparation for an attack. A youngling barely out of the nest, it was raring to fight the trainer. Flying in the downpour had helped it gain some standing in the flock, but this?, battling a trainer with a Pokemon stronger than it? that would get it some respect! The Spearow, rather small even for its young age, bristled its feathers to appear large, hopping back and forth in the mud, readying an attack. If the trainer had a Charmander, the fire-type would be weakened by the dampness of the area. It would have a type advantage if the trainer sent out a Bulbasaur, whom would be little affected by the storm. However, the wet would be a boon for a Squirtle, the turtle-Pokemon built for these conditions. Luck proved not to be on the bird-Pokemon's side, as the trainer sent out a Squirtle. Responding to Lyon's order, Squirt charged at the Spearow. His stubby legs easily got traction on the mud, running easily as though it were on grass. The Spearow moved as though to dodge, but stumbled in the muck. Squirt slammed into the Pokemon at full-tilt, sending it tumbling across the ground, throwing up grime and water. Struggling to its feet, the Spearow shook its wings free of mud, and took off, swooping to land on Squirt's shell. Its beak seemed to gleam as it reared back before slamming its beak into the back of Squirt's head. The water-type staggered, before shaking it off his shell. The Spearow stumbled to the ground before whipping around, readying for another attack. Wild Battle Weather: Flooding Spearow | Level 2 | HP: 36% (5/14) Status: Normal Used Peck! VS. Squirtle | Level 5 | HP: 75% (15/20) Status: Normal Used Tackle

Ah man, the spearow was a real determined fighter, and that would be absolutely wonderful in a teammate. Not to mention he simply did not yet have a spearow. "Good work Squirt! Shake it off, you got this in the bag!" It really was an unfair advantage though, heck, Lyon was even jealous of his Squirtle, it was absolutely thriving out here! The spearow seemed ready to fight but all the same it looked weak. "Alright! You're going to come with us now!" Lyon pulled out a pokeball and with a well aimed throw attempted to capture the bird.

The bird was actively huffing, though it did its darndest to hide it with puffing its chest out and trying to appear intimidating. It certainly had luster, something that wasn't lost on the new trainer as he reached into his bag for a pokéball. Hearing his trainer's call, Squirt gave a nod then carefully stepped back away from the fearsome young spearow. For a second the baby bird thought his posture was finally working and scaring the tiny turtle off, but it quickly learned the folly of that thought. The brown bird squawked and beat its wings in a hurry to try and avoid the capture device but the watery ground only made the hasty movements bring the spearow to the ground. Then, the ball bonked it on the noggin and within the next second its form was swallowed up by the device. The pokéball snapped closed and fell to the ground with a splash. It wobbled lightly, ripples swishing through the muddy puddle it'd fallen into. One shake... The device lay still for a time and then the light flashed red and a satisfying click broke the suspense.
