If you see me comin' down the street... ... You know it's time to go.
The sky was a clear blue and for the first time on her journey, Terri was dressed appropriately for the weather. She was in an incredibly good mood after a successful quest with Bob, the Team Rocket Grunt. However, Violet City seemed too unsafe to hang around any longer. She couldn't be certain that she hadn't left any evidence behind.
She was eager to get started working as a new recruit. While she waited, she decided that some training was needed. A strong team was necessary for any successful Rocket member, especially if she wanted to climb the ranks.
Terri followed the main path down Route 32. She could hear dozens of wild Pokémon lurking around in the grass. There were also a few novice trainers who were undoubtedly looking for a match. "If I'm gonna do this, I can't have any liabilities." She grabbed Edwina's Poké Ball. "Geddout here and make yo'self useful."
The Starly emerged from her Poké Ball, already quivering trying to figure out what her trainer had planned. She forced a nod, trying to perk herself up. Terri seemed to be in a good mood so maybe this was the bird's chance to prove hersef.

The clear day was a blessing for a lot of the Pokemon on the route but perhaps no Pokemon benefited more than the few plant Pokemon who called Route 32 home. The two plant Pokemon who lived on the route were both enjoying the nice weather but for one poor Budew the nice day might just turn into an awful one as it stepped out of the tall grass and stopped right in front of Terri and nearly had a heart attack as it saw her and Edwina. The plant type went into panic mode wondering what to do but it could not hope to outrun a Starly nor could it hide from Terri in the middle of the route like this. As it froze in fear the few other Pokemon in the area ran off to a safe distance to watch what would likely be a brutal battle. "Bud" The young grass type finally said after a few moments fully realizing the horrible circumstance it found itself in. With no visible way out of this disaster except to fight it backed up into a nearby tree and pointed the bulb on it's head towards Terri hoping she might think it was a threat of some kind even as it shook from head to toe. It's hope of somehow avoiding a conflict fell by the second as it stood in front of the tree as Terri had it well and truly cornered. It hoped and prayed that she would show it some kind of mercy having done no harm to her as it waited to see what her next move would be while expecting a heart attack at any moment. A Budew (Level 9) appeared. Will you show it pity and let it go or will you send out a Pokemon to battle it?

Her luck was changing for the better. A timid grass-type quickly wandered out in front of the pair. If Edwina could defeat a few grass-types, she was bound to improve. Ollin and Tiago seemed to be lightyears ahead of her right now.
"Aha, perfect!" Terri smirked. "A'right birdbrain, even you can't mess this up." She gestured to the panicking Budew. The Starly knew she had to follow orders but the poor grass-type looked so pathetic and helpless. She sighed and nodded.
"Finish this quickly with a Wing Attack," Terri ordered. Edwina looked at her target sympathetically. She hoped that Budew wouldn't suffer too much. "<<I'm so sorry for this...>>" The bird readied her wings and prepared her attack. She could barely keep her eyes open. Her trainer seemed to show no remorse for this baby Pokémon.

It's attempt at intimidation failed miserably. The rattling of its knees perhaps betrayed its resolve. If it didn't than the shriek of fear and regret that followed in response to Terri's excited call for battle sure did. Budew didn't care how hopeless its chances of escape were at this point. It had been such a nice day till this moment and it wanted to continue experiencing this day. Being knocked unconscious in a one sided battle was the absolutely last thing it wanted. So it ran. Tears welling at the corner of its big dewy eyes Budew spun right round and just tried to book it to the nearest tree. The apologetic words chirped from the trainer's bird fell on deaf ears; mostly cause the grass type was too busy crying. With its ears and mind full of nothing but its own shrieking it had no idea where the starly even was until the attack hit. Edwina had fluttered forward in a low dive with her wings shining. Once close she butted the bulbous pokémon while it ran. What resulted wasn't unlike a bat swinging at a pitch. Budew was sent soaring through the air, whipping across the tips of the tall grass and into the bush of the surrounding treeline. VICTORY!
Edwina grew to LV 14! She can learn Double Team; delete an old move? What's this!? Edwina is trying to evolve! Allow it?

If you see me comin' down the street... ... You know it's time to go.
"You gotta be kiddin'," Terri chuckled, watching the whimpering Budew pathetically trying to escape. The baby grass-type seemed to know it had no chance.
"Well, whadaya know? Edwina, there's a bigger loser out here than you," the girl announced, patronisingly. The Starly knew what she had to do but seeing the helpless Pokémon panic made it so much harder. One Wing Attack had been enough to knock it out. "<<Forgive me, you'll be better soon...>>" The bird sighed. She turned her head to Terri. "Oh please, don't expect approval for that. The Daycare Lady coulda done it." she dismissed, turning her back and continuing to walk.
Suddenly, a bright light began to engulf Edwina. "Huh?" Terri quickly swung around, raising her hands as if to protect herself. She watched in awe as her Pokémon evolved into a new tougher looking bird. Edwina chirped, spreading her wings as a she checked out her new form. "...serious?" Terri muttered, puzzled as to how the bird was the first of her three Pokémon to evolve when she seemed to be the weakest by far. The girl shrugged and gestured to the Staravia to follow. "Whatever, let's go. We still have work to do."
The two continued walking down Route 32. Union Cave was in sight but Terri wasn't ready to enter just yet. Edwina still needed to grow stronger to match the strength of Ollin and Tiago. To her left there was Pokémon Center. The teenager decided it was best to stay clear of it, having just robbed the one in Violet City. However, outside the entrance was a girl who sparked Terri's interest.
"Hey, girl with the green bandana," Terri beckoned. "Let's have a quick battle!" Now was the real test to see what this newly evolved Pokémon was capable of.

"Huh?" The young woman's neck jolted sharply as Terri called toward her, snapping toward the newly-enrolled Rocket member. "Oh, a battle? Sure," she answered, slightly surprised by her challenger's blunt proposal. Stretching her arms gently, the breeder stepped away from the Centre behind her and in Terri's general direction. If she was quite honest, she was just a little bored of standing there in the wind. As she approached, though, the gusts began to temper down, clouds parting to unleash a brilliant burst of sunlight. Beth couldn't help but smile as the weather took a turn for the better, seemingly energised by the sudden uptick in warmth. "Name's Beth, by the way. May I ask for yours?" the trainer asked, having had her interest piqued by the latest opponent's forward nature. She reached into her apron pocket and plucked a Pokéball from within, enlarging it in her palm as her eyes surveyed Terri and Edwina both. The latter of that pair was quite worrisome to her. She had to assume that the Staravia was going to come out once she revealed her own hand, but quite how she'd deal with it wasn't clear to her. "To be frank, I'm not a fan of the whole 'fight to the death' system, so is two Pokémon per side alright with you?" Along with her request, Beth hurled her first battler into the mix. A Lombre burst forward, grinning emptily as was its species' wont.
Pokémon Breeder Beth has accepted the challenge! Her first Pokémon is her Lombre (Level 18)! What will Terri respond with?Note: You may only use a maximum of 2 Pokémon. The weather will be 'Clear' for the duration of the battle.

The woman seemed a bit puzzled by Terri. Maybe she was too direct for Beth. However, one thing she was sure of; she had to cut the pointless small talk if she wanted to get anywhere. This suited her perfectly anyway. The woman was already getting on her nerves with her questions. "It's Terri." She wanted to get straight to the point.
Although she accepted Terri's challenge without much hesitation, Beth was quick to add her own conditions. "Fine with me, I wanna make this quick." She was pretty blunt but she wasn't comfortable hanging around the Pokémon Center.
Terri exchanged a stern glance with Edwina as Lombre appeared on the field. "Now this is a real opponent, birdbrain. Let's see ya not screw this up. Wing Attack!" The Staravia gulped and turned to face her foe. She had a type advantage but she could sense that this Lombre was more experienced than she was. Terri seemed to have some luck with battling so far but she could tell that this other trainer was no newbie.

Terri's assumption that Beth was an experienced trainer was dead on despite her outward appearance. The breeder had raised her Pokemon to play tricks even on Pokemon with a type advantage and as Edwina had a type advantage over her Lombre she felt showing off the first trick she had taught her Pokemon would be a good idea. " Usually your choice of Pokemon in this cause would have been a slam dunk choice but I am afraid it will take more than a type advantage to defeat me." As she snapped her fingers the Lombre charged towards Edwina showing no fear for its own well being. By the time the bird Pokemon figured out what was going on it was too late. Lombre was mere inches from Edwina when Beth gave the order to strike. " Lombre use Fake Out on that Staravia, you should be able to break its concentration enough to stop its attack at least for this round." Following her order Lombre reached out and acted as though it was going to punch the bird in the face forcing her to dodge, only for Lombre to strike from the other side slapping her across the face. It was not very powerful but it did indeed break her concentration as Edwina looked back at Terri wondering what in the world had just happened. Beth on the other hand was pleased to see her plan unfold perfectly. " I admit Fake Out is not very strong but it looks to have done its job. Lombre great job but this battle is far from over. We currently have a slight upper hand but do not let your guard down." Lombre stood at attention just waiting for Terri to make another move. Now that it could not use the same trick again it knew things might not be so pretty in the next round but it was still very pleased to have embarrassed the bird with such ease for the time being. Trainer Battle (Clear Weather)Beth's Lombre | Level 18 HP: 100% (55/55 HP) Status: Normal Lombre used Fake Out! VS

Her forehead vein began to bulge with frustration. Terri took a deep breath and tried to contain her anger. She began to grit her teeth as she shot a death glare to her Pokémon. "How surprisin', same dumbass bird ya've always been."
Edwina quivered slightly. Evolving didn't earn her any praise from her trainer, not that she'd expected it. The flying-type creature had been caught off guard with Lombre's Fake Out. She was certain that it would have happened to any of the teenager's Pokémon. "<<Focus...focus...>>" she mumbled to herself. She wouldn't fall for that move again.
Terri avoided looking at Beth directly in the eyes. She could hear her speak but she wasn't in the mood for chitchat so she chose to ignore it. Edwina was still getting herself together after flinching the previous turn. Terri was going to be livid if she cost her the battle. "Whataya waitin' for Edwina? Wing Attack! Now!"

Beth's opening trick had given her a slight upper hand but she could not rest easy knowing that her attack did not do much damage. It had clearly angered Terri and thanks to her previous orders she now knew one of Edwinda's moves and it was a very dangerous one. Her Lombre only knew a single attack that could defeat a flying type with any level of reliability especially one as fast as a Staravia and she had to take advantage of it in this round. " Lombre use Waterfall on that Staravia before it can score a hit." Staravia was just fast enough to act before Lombre could attack as she flew towards the tadpole Pokemon at a high speed with her wings spread wide open ready to strike. The bird slammed into Lombre head on causing a ton of damage and sending it flying backwards nearly hitting the wall of the Pokemon Center. " Lombre are you ok? That attack did a lot of damage but I do hope that our training has been enough for you to keep going." Lombre fought back against the pain as it stood up finally ready to launch an attack of its own. It fired off a huge amount of water flooding the battlefield and while Edwina stood completely confused by what was going on Lombre ran on the water collecting some in its arms until it had enough to dump the water on the bird. Edwina was drenched but still in better shape than Lombre. " Well that is not usually how we would do that attack but it worked nonetheless so I cannot complain. Still that Wing Attack your Staravia did was quite impressive. I do not know if my Lombre can take another one." She said as she considered her options knowing that her own stipulation of a two on two battle was not looking like such a great idea anymore. Trainer Battle (Clear Weather)Beth's Lombre | Level 18 HP: 46% (24/55 HP) Status: Normal Lombre used Waterfall! VS
Terri's Edwina | Level 14 HP: 43% (20/43 HP) Status: Normal Edwina used Wing Attack!

Finally, Edwina landed a hit. Lombre seemed to take a large amount of damage but it quickly countered, leaving both Pokémon in roughly the same condition. A single drop of sweat rolled down Terri's forehead as she decided on her next move. She considered using a Potion but her opponent's Waterfall was quite powerful so maybe it was a waste of time.
Edwina had managed to strike first on the last turn. If she could do it again, maybe they could win this. Terri's breathing was heavy. It was difficult to put so much faith in Edwina. The Staravia had been a disaster in her eyes from day 1. "Edwina, if ya let me down, I'll strangle ya. Use yer Wing Attack and finish this." Her voice cracked a little as she spoke. She cringed, hating for any signs of weakness or uncertainty to publicly show. She attempted to cover it up by finally answering Beth. "Uhh yeah, I wouldn't count on it. That Lombre's lookin' beat."
Edwina took aim at her foe. She felt reasonably optimistic. For her standards, this battle was going well. Both she and Lombre were tied in terms of remaining hit-points but since she'd only landed one successful hit, she felt like she had the upper hand. If she just pushed a little bit harder, she'd finally be as strong as the other Pokémon in Terri's party.

Beth was not going to give up as hopeless as things were starting to seem for Lombre. The tadpole Pokemon had done a number on Edwina but her own attack had crippled it. Neither Pokemon could last much longer but Edwina was a tiny bit faster and the moment Terri issued her order the bird flew towards Lombre at top speed hoping not to disappoint her trainer any further. As she flew towards the Lombre with her beak pointed right at the grass and water type Pokemon she collided into it with all of her power leaving her opponent knocked out. " It looks as though you were correct. Return Lombre you did well. Now then, I still have 1 Pokemon left and I already know what I am going to use." She said as she grabbed another Pokeball out of her pouch. " Go Exeggcute we still have a chance to turn this battle around." Though the type disadvantage her Pokemon did worry her she had taught Exeggcute an even more impressive set of moves than her Lombre and she was counting on those very moves to make up for the situation she found herself in. " My back is to the wall and you Pokemon has the type advantage here but Exeggcute is even stronger. I will give it my all as it seems you are quite a bit stronger than most of the trainers who challenge me." He Exeggcute looked over at Edwina very intrested in the bird as it had not seen a Staravia before and all it knew was that in a head up fight the bird would have a huge advantage. The strength Edwina had gained from defeating Lombre would not help matters any for the egg Pokemon but unlike itself Edwina was pretty banged up. If it could just endure a single hit from the bird it might be able to finish her off so long as Terri did not switch Pokemon and if she did things might just become a bit more challenging. " Since you defeated my Pokemon you may swap yours out now if you would wish. I am still sticking to my two on two rule though so do keep that in mind." She said as she waited to see if Terri would either keep Edwina out and try her luck or swap out before the next round began. Trainer Battle (Clear Weather)Beth's Lombre | Level 18 HP: 0% (0/55 HP) Status: KO'ed KO'ed! VS
Terri's Edwina | Level 14 HP: 43% (20/43 HP) Status: Normal Edwina used Wing Attack!
Edwina gained 3 levels and is now level 17. Beth is down to her last Pokemon. She sends out Exeggcute (Level 18). Would you like to switch Pokemon?

Somehow, Edwina had done it. Terri knew she should praise the flying-type, as annoying as she found her. She decided to hold off on any compliments, however, as Beth sent out her second Pokémon. Exeggcute was still in its base form but there was something about it that seemed more threatening than the Lombre she'd just defeated.
Beth mentioned that Terri could switch Pokémon. She contemplated for a moment and decided that this was the best strategy. Ollin would be better suited to this battle than Edwina, who was already wounded. Exeggcute was partially Psychic-type which meant that Ollin had the perfect moves to battle it. "Fine, I'll switch out too. Edwina, c'mere. Ollin, take over kiddo."
Edwina withdrew behind her trainer. Perhaps she'd be needed again if Ollin couldn't handle Exeggcute but Terri had much more confidence in the Snubbull's abilities. "Make this quick, use Bite!" Ollin nodded, turning and snarling at his opponent as he got ready to attack.

As Terri swapped out Edwina for Ollin the Snubbull Exeggcute was quite intimidated by the fairy Pokemon. It was not cute and cuddly like most fairy types nor did Exeggcute want to let the canine get any more of an upper hand than it already had. Exeggcute's attack had already fallen at the mere sight of its foe but Beth had trained it to take advantage of it's special attack allowing the grass type to overcome the stat drop. " Your Snubbull is quite an impressive Pokemon. It is a but tougher looking than other fairy types I have seen but I do wonder how it will fare against a special attacking Pokemon." She said as Exeggcute got ready to attack. The egg Pokemon might not have much in the way of looks but it was a tiny bit faster than Ollin and Beth had to make up for being down a Pokemon already. With that in mind she was going to go all out with the grass types best move right out of the gate. " Use Psychic against that Snubbull, we have to do as much damage as we can before you take any." With its order received Exeggcute's eyes began to glow a bright light blue color for a few seconds before the same color surrounded Ollin. As the aura grew stronger Ollin found itself lifted off the ground like a rag doll unable to fend for itself at all before being sent flying into the wall of the Pokemon Center. Even with the egg Pokemon's best effort Ollin proved to be strong enough to endure the first hit as he got ready to strike back. He ran towards the egg Pokemon and bit the middle egg with every ounce of strength his jaw could produce. The other eggs hopped around worried for their comrade as it slowly recovered from the shock of the attack. Even with Bite being super effective it could not match the power of Psychic and Beth started to get hopeful that her luck was turning around. " Great job Exeggcute, you took some damage but that Snubbull took far more damage. We still have more to do to catch back up but that Psychic really closed the gap. We can still win this if you can avoid taking any more damage." As she finished speaking to her Pokemon she turned back to face Terri trying to figure out what she would try next. Trainer Battle (Clear Weather)Beth's Exeggcute | Level 18 HP: 56% (31/55 HP) Status: Normal, Attack -1 Exeggcute used Psychic! VS

Terri winced as she watched her Snubbull take a direct hit. Exeggcute was a lot tougher than she'd expected. This was going to be a close battle but she knew that Ollin wasn't going to be the one to win it for her.
She had an idea but she hated it. "Never thought this day would come." Terri reached into her bag and pulled out a Super Potion. "Sorry kiddo," she sighed. She turned her back and approached the flying-type behind her, spraying the Potion to restore her health. Edwina's eyes widened. This didn't seem real but Terri looked very serious. It was timne for a pep talk.
"A'right Edwina, change o' plan. Ya'd better keep yer focus 'cause this ain't gonna be easy. Ya can probably afford to take one hit at best but maybe yer speed can save ya. Don't mess this up..." Edwina struggled to come to terms with the situation but held eye contact with her trainer. She nodded and prepared to tag in if Ollin fainted.
The Snubbull stood helplessly waiting for his next order. Time was running out. If Exeggcute landed another Psychic, he was finished.
