Is anyone else particularly sad they removed his Espeon in place for Lapras? I am pretty sad as it sort of breaks the full on remake experience they were aiming for (If they can do it for Red why the hell not do it for Johto gym leaders by giving them more Johto-centric and STRONGER levelled Pokemon?!) but in a way I can see it being more of a challenge what with constant hail guaranteeing 100% accurate Blizzards. Oh well, that's the way it goes sometimes I guess.

I liked Red's Espeon because it was like fighting Red from pokemon adventures. Which was a nice reference. And I thought the Lapras was SO easy.

I don't remember his Espeon... I battled him with a team in their 60s and he almost wiped the floor with me. Definitely the best trainer. xD

I liked Red's Espeon because it was like fighting Red from pokemon adventures. Which was a nice reference. And I thought the Lapras was SO easy. It also reflects the Red found in Pokemon Fire Red and Leaf Green as wasn't their a small sidequest involving resucing a Lapras from some Team Rocket dregs? The Snorlax is pretty self explanatory too as he obtained one which blocked one of the paths and used the Pokeflute to obtain it. Lapras is a cool Pokemon but it has'nt ever really posed too much of a threat to me. Although I did come across a Dragon Dancing one the other day which I promptly shut down. ;D I don't remember his Espeon... I battled him with a team in their 60s and he almost wiped the floor with me. Definitely the best trainer. xD I can imagine what it'll be like for me when I meet Red on top of Mt.Silver in HGSS but even to this day when I remember the encounter with him in GSC... I still get chills down the spine. It was a nice addition to the games. One which I was hoping for in RSE. You venture into a cave and come across Gold.

I do not like Lapras on his team because he now has 2 water types that make it to easy.

I do not like Lapras on his team because he now has 2 water types that make it to easy. I noticed a small error with this above post of mine since I was referring to the older games Gold, Silver, and Crystal not Heartgold and Soulsilver in which Lapras was replaced with Espeon which I was glad to see it replaced since now he does not have 2 water types and it makes it a little more of a challenge. I also noticed that unlike the older games in which the battle took place inside the cave the one in HG/SS takes place outside and in a Hail weather condition so Blizzard never misses. That makes it quite challenging unless like me you use Rayquaza on your team due to it's ability. Overall I like his minor team change as well as a weather effect to make it a bit more challenging. In my opinion the only way they could have made the battle better was if they would have given him lv100 pokemon in the rematch battles against him.

Red no longer has Espeon? I didn't know that.
