"We all do, Roland, we all do," Astrid said warmly to the boy as he had thanked her for praising his pokemon. "Yes, I see. We will handle this alright and then get out quickly," Astrid told Roland and began to believe it now. They still had some important things to do and which had to work before they could get out of there. If more spinaraks came, or the big one that was hiding, they would be in big trouble and Astrid did not fancy getting webbed and slowly suffocate. Yakul was as alert and nervous as before and it didn't help that the scary spinarak was knocked out, she thought the rest to be just as dangerous and she knew there were more hiding around. Astrid gave up getting her to move any closer, it was like the skiddo had sprouted roots! Instead she gestured to Roland to come closer to her so they could talk without having to shout and risk alerting the rest of the spiders. "We need to lay a plan for what we do when the other one is knocked out, as I think we need to be swift and silent. Do you have any idea on how to handle the net? It didn't look like Sonja's cold breath had any affect on it and I fear we will get stuck if we just try tuck at it," Astrid said and waited on Rolands answer. She would eventually find her pokedex and try look up her own pokemon as well as nidoran to see, if they had anything useful. "Ove and Yakul might be able to destroy the web, if I can get her to budge that is," Astrid said dryly and nudge the skiddo with a heel, and get rewarded with a snort. "How good is Nidoran's aim? Would he be able to destroy the web with his poison sting?" She asked Roland. It was good Ove and Araceli was doing fine as Astrid had yet to notice they were missing. Sonja had little control of where she was going to she hit something that definitely wasn't the web, as she continued, and it felt soft enough for her to assume it was the spinarak. She remembered where the other had been before and spun in the air and hoped to go in the right direction. As the web shook Ove cut the string he had chosen and he could see that Araceli did the same a heartbeat later. They both moved on to the next core strings, while they watched the web eagerly to see what difference it has done. Ove also glanced towards the tree to see what the rest of the spinaraks and the ariados was up to. Wordcount: 458 (ooc: Sonja continues her Ice Ball, it is not like she can do much else )

Upon hearing the whimper of one of its workers faint, the ariados peered its head out from its hiding spot. Angrily it bristled its back spikes together and rubbed together its front legs making a horrid gritting sound. The remaining battling spinarak answered back with a skittering noise and then prepared to shoot out one of its poisonous horns just as commanded. However, answering the ariados proved to have been a bad choice as Sonja who had continued rolling around as an ice ball was able to finally locate excatly where the spinarak was thanks to its skittering. Sonja impacted with the small spider and sent it hurling up the web, forcing it to stop and regain its footing. The ariados let out a mad screech, scolding the spinarak. Roland studied the net as Astrid spoke. "I agree that we should avoid touching the net, but I'm not sure what might help... Poison sting might help tear up the net but I'm worried that if Nidoran misses he might hit my friends or Mr Peterson!" The spinarak, finally shaking off its hit from Sonja, retaliated with a poison sting of its own. The ariados let out a screech of praise. However, as the spinarak celebrated Nidoran came in with another double kick from behind. The ariados retreated back into the tree hollow, it needed to reassess its team, its current worker would not be able to hold on much longer. As Astrid and Roland continued to talk strategy, Ove and Araceli were executing their plan. They cut the last core string, just as the ariados poked its head out of the tree hollow once more. It had selected two more spinaraks to fight, however, before any more spiders could be sent out onto the web, the web itself came crashing down. The four wrapped up bodies hit the ground with a thud, the spinarak that had remained on the web landed on its head, knocking it out. The ariados was speechless. It glanced at the web and its dinner on the ground and then to the two human trainers at the base of the tree and then to Ove and Araceli up in the air. "AAAARiaaadossssssss." The ariados glared at Ove and then shook its head in defeat. The large red spider crawled up and out of the tree hollow, following it were dozens of young spinarak. The ariados rubbed its back spikes once more and led its small army into the dark of the woods. "Rrrriadddoss" This fight is not worth the trouble. There are plenty more prey in the woods.
As the ariados and spinaraks left, Roland rushed to the cocooned bundles and began to pry the webbing apart. His hands stuck to the webs and his progress was slow but the young boy was determined. His nidoran also rushed to his side and began to bite pieces of web away. "We've got to free them! Can you get the Mr. Peterson, Miss Astrid?"~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Victory! Thanks to teamwork and clever thinking, the spinaraks have been the defeated and the ariados has led its horde away!

Astrid clenched her jaw as the ariados became visible in the tree once more, and then she winced by the gritting sound it made. Was it now the real trouble began? She grabbed one of Yakul's horn to make sure the skiddo stayed put, it would disastrous if she ran away now. It seemed like it stayed at the entrance for now and Astrid allowed herself to listen to Rolands suggestions, he couldn't come with much new and she hoped their pokemon's claw and teeth were sharp enough to get through the web, or that it was less sticky around the trapped ones. The biggest problem was to reach the trapped bodies. Astrid was certain things would turn grim as more spinaraks appeared, she had hoped they had had more time! But then things happened fast and suddenly the whole web came crashing down and knocking out a spinarak and sending the trapped ones tumbling to the ground. Astrid stared surprised, had the web not been tough enough to withstand the weight? Or had the battle or the frost breath weakened it somehow? The ariados appeared fully and Yakul spun around and took a few leaps away before Astrid managed to stop her. When she turned around to look all the spiders were gone, even the one that landed on the ground. She looked around but saw no sign of them and wondered if they had retreated back into the hollow tree or had run away, she assumed the latter with how Roland and the other pokemon behaved. This was a big problem that would needed to be reported, either so someone could take care of the dangerous spiders this close to the cities, or at least so people was warned about the dangers and would stay away. Astrid could not get Yakul to take any step closer to the web, so she dismounted and began to walk toward Roland and the trapped ones. She quickly decided they would need something sharp to cut the cocoons and stopped to get Sonja on the way. The snowy sandshrew had hit the web after slamming into the spinarak and the sticky threads had entangled her and effectively stopped her rolling. As Astrid arrived beside Roland, Ove and Araceli was there already, busy cutting the strings over with scythes and beak. Astrid got Sonja to work on the biggest cocoon with her sharp claws, while she prepared to get Roland to look away or in any other way and comfort him, she feared what they would find inside. It might not still be alive. ~~~ Ove and Araceli had worked their way through the trees and cut the strings they came across every time the web moved, which it did a lot. It was soon clear that they had failed and avoiding alerting the ariados as it poked its head out and begun scolding its minions. The two flying types didn't need to talk to agree that they needed to hurry to destroy the web, and not long after it fell to the ground. As the ariados fully emerged Ove flew out into the middle of the area, where Araceli joined him soon after. They both faced the spiders and was ready to fight back if necessary, but they were both relieved that the ariados chose to retreat. Araceli immediately dived down to attack the nearest cocoon with his beak to try free the one trapped inside. Ove waited a moment and looked after the spiders, he hesitated warily unsure if he should keep watch or help the others cutting the cocoons. He ended up joining the others and used his scythes to cut the strings. They had to work fast, who knew when the horde would return? Wordcount: 624 (ooc: Sonja does not learn swift. I was not offered that she could learn Metal Claw when she grew to level 14, would it be possible for her to get that instead of Scratch? I haven't used Scratch since then anyway, and I'd really like to get Metal Claw for her. It is not important at all, but Buzz needs +1 level as he holds the exp-share. I'd like to switch him out for the scatterbug Shane and give him the exp-share as well. Thank you.)

It was slow work getting the webbing off the four humans, but the shared effort of Nidoran and Astrid's Pokemon finally revealed the grown Mr. Peterson and Roland's three friends. They were pale and blue-lipped all four, but a careful investigation would reveal faint pulses on all of them. The question would be how to revive them. Roland had been eager getting the webbing off, and had at no time caught on to Astrid's tenseness. Even the revelation of their pale faces didn't seem to dishearten him as bad as Astrid feared, though he got a more worried look to him. "Are they alright?" he asked, touching their skin and mimicking the action of feeling at the neck though he didn't know what to feel for. He waited patiently with worrying hands for Astrid's verdict on the matter before doing anything else, and then he looked around as if searching for an answer to the problem in their surroundings. "I don't like it here. We should try to move them at least." He said, and bid his lip realising the folly in a kid and an old lady trying to move four bodies on their own. "If I run for help, will you be alright here on your own?" He asked, remembering Astrid's earlier suggestion of him doing just that.
Roland was trying to mentally prepare himself for a lonely run to Violet, leaving them all behind to fend for themselves while waiting for his return, when he remembered something, and the thought made his eyes widen with the realisation. "Oh, I just remembered," he announced and started searching one of the boy's clothing. "Albert has a Happiny. He wants to be a nurse when he grows up, and I remember Mr. Peterson saying the Happiny might come in handy if any of us got poisoned or burned while camping. That it could cure any ailment." Roland explained excited. He finally found a Pokeball on the boy and held it out, trying to let the inhabitant out. The soft pink creature that popped out was indeed a Happiny, and it immediately turned to the boy, Albert, and started to push at his unmoving body with it's stubby hands while emitting whiny sounds. It disregarded Roland's attempts to explain to it what he wanted, and more seemed to scold Roland the few times it turned its head his way. Roland rubbed a hand over his face, and gave Astrid an apologetic look. "I completely forgot how much of a drama queen it could be." Then he gave it one more attempt, with a tired half-angry edge to his voice. "Would you just use Heal Bell already, and see if it works?!" The Happiny stopped its whining, and the sound of a bell replaced it. It was a soothing sound that made one listen and relax, and as soon the last tone had dissipated the four bodies groaned in unison and began stirring.
Happiny's boy, Albert, was the first to sit up fully. He didn't look entirely well, neither of them did, but he patted the Happiny and looked at Roland with a question in his eyes. "Ugh, what happened?" he rasped out, and hugged a happy Happiny to his chest for comfort. Mr. Peterson was the next to get up, and he didn't remain seated for long. He fought to get up on wobbly legs, and took stock of the situation with the swiftness of many years practise. "We shouldn't be in this part of the forest." Roland sprang to his own feet and readily helped steady Mr. Peterson while he began explaining how he and Astrid had found them all. He was a pure waterfall of words now things seemed to be back in order, even if the victims of the Spinaraks still looked rather pale and shaky. Mr. Peterson gave Roland a pat on the shoulder. "That was very brave of you, Roland. Thank you. Now, help the others get ready to leave, while I say proper hello to the lady." The man staggered a bit on his way, but he managed to take the steps to Astrid still standing, and smiled gratefully at her. "You've saved our lifes today, Mrs. I will never be able to thank you enough. I'm sure Roland has told you more than enough of us by now, but I'm afraid I didn't catch your name. I'm Frank Peterson. He reached out a hand in greeting, and should Astrid accept it, she would notice how clammy it felt to touch. Mr. Peterson continued after her own introduction. "I hope it isn't too much to ask, if you could help us back to the real path. I doubt any of us is up for camping tonight, and I need to report this to the rangers of Violet anyway... We'll probably need to be checked by a doctor too for that matter."
If Astrid agreed she would be thanked even more profoundly, and despite their feeble appearance Mr. Peterson and the kids managed to walk away from the Spinaraks' territory with a bit of help from Roland and whoever of Astrid's Pokemon offered. By the time they reached the safer route all four of them was walking by their own force, and it was clear they could make it to Violet without anymore help. "We won't take anymore of your time, Mrs." Mr. Peterson was saying. "Again, thank you very much for coming to Roland's and our aid. If you ever need anything, feel free to stop by Violet Central High. I'm usually around during the day."
(Ooc: I'll check about the Metal Claw to Sonja. I see no trouble with it)

They did not look good, the trapped one when they finally got them free but at least it was the ones they were looking for. Astrid was relieved that Roland kept his bearing and stayed calm although he clearly got worried when he saw how his friends looked. Astrid didn't answer his question at first and instead silently checked them all for a pulse and when she was confirmed they were all still alive she smiled reassuringly to Roland. "They are alive and I am certain they will be fine, but I doubt they are feeling very well at the moment," she told him honestly. She noticed that he mimicked her feeling for a pulse and quickly showed him where to put his hand. She listened to his suggestions which she found well thought out and nodded a bit. "We need to get them out of here first, if we can get them to the road where we met we should be far enough from this place, and then you can go fetch some help," Astrid said and looked around among the trees. "We cannot carry them all by ourselves but we could make some makeshift sleds which the pokemon could pull. Yakul can take one, and so can Sonja and Ove. I assume that Nidoran can as well, and perhaps some of the other can work together for the last one..." Astrid trailed off and wished that she had been young and hadn't been so dependent on others help.
She looked hopeful at Roland as he remembered the pokemon one of his friends had, and she watched worried when he had trouble getting it to cooperate and work with him. "It is young, it probably does not fully understand the situation. Keep trying, it is our best shot," she urged him to continue Astrid let out a relieved sigh and smiled when the happiny finally understood and that the heal bell clearly did the trick. Roland's friends slowly woke up and Araceli finally felt tiptop again.
"Some spinaraks had made some trouble and caught you, but we are going to get you safely back home," Astrid reassured Albert and patted his shoulder before she turned to Roland and Mr. Peterson. "Roland was really brave and I am impressed with how calm he managed to stay, it is not easy to face off an ariados and several spinaraks," Astrid told Mr. Peterson and sent Roland a proud smile As Mr. Petersen offered a handshake she took it and presented herself. "My name is Astrid, and do not thank me, this is the least we could do," Astrid answered and gestured towards her pokemon. "But we are not out of danger yet, we need to get out of here," Astrid mumbled to the other adult to avoid scaring the kids that had been trapped more than necessary. She smiled and shook her head when Mr. Peterson asked if she would stay and help. "Do not be silly, of course I stay and help you out of here, that is why I am here in the first place. If it is a help Bloomingvale where I live should not be far from here and you can get a rest there, until some of my very helpful neighbours can help you quick and safely back to Violet," Astrid offered.
Astrid then took charge of the situation and decided how they could best help the others out. "It is good you are helping Mr. Peterson Roland," She said and helped the weakest looking child up on Yakul. The skiddo was not pleased but accepted the moment Astrid god the child to touch the horns, and Yakul understood why. She walked very carefully after that. Ove himself went to support or carry another child if needed, and Sonja would begrudgingly be put into helping out as well, if needed. Araceli was too small to really help in this matter, and mental comfort was not what was important at this time. Astrid preferred to have someone on guard to watch for potential returning spinaraks, or any other pokemon that might pose a threat, and Araceli was perfect for that job. Astrid called out Buzz to help with that as well. The trek back to the main path was uneventful, luckily
"You are of not bother, are you certain you can do on your own from here?" Astrid asked worried as she look at the former trapped people. She could see that they were looking much better now, and the kids didn't seem like they needed the mounts anymore. "If you are certain," Astrid accepted reluctantly and brushed off the praise. "I only did what you could expect of one that is capable of helping, what should I have done? Turned my back and left you all there?" She asked grimly. "I want to let you know Roland that I am very proud of you and your nidoran, and I am certain that you can get your friends back to Violet safely," she told him as farewell greeting and would give him a hug if he would allow it.
Astrid watched them leave before she mounted Yakul and set the course towards her home town. She was cheerfully greeted when she reached Bloomingvale and she showed her pokemon on the team her home although she kept them out of the house and let them enjoy har garden instead. It was strange to be back home again and she had no trouble setting of early the next morning, only taking the small break to switch Buzz with Shane.
The trip to the Union cave was a short and easy one and Astrid's excitement quickly turned to worry as they peeked inside. It was very dark, not as much as Dark Cave of course, but there they had just needed to go in and then the same way out. Here they needed to get through and she had no idea how long it was or how many side passages there might be. How easy could they get lost? Yakul stomped her hoof impatiently and Ove looked questioningly at her. "I am uncertain on how to find our way through, I have heard stories of people getting lost inside," she confessed and looked around. "Perhaps we can find someone to ask, or hear if someone will show us the way. Will you go out and see if there are any around?" She asked and looked at Ove and Araceli. Ove nodded and went through the opened and looked around inside. "Hello? Anyone here? I could use some help if somebody has the time," he called out and hoped some pokemon would react. Araceli chirped his confirmation and flapped loudly into the air and began to soar above the area outside the cave to see what he could spot. Astrid herself dismounted Yakul and let her find a patch of grass while she stretched her legs and placed herself curiously in the opening to the cave.

Union Cave was certainly a windy, twisty sort of cave. It was the kind of cave that made many of the Pokemon around it nervous. The sounds that came from it day and night, tunneling, roaring, there were a lot of things for a Pokemon to fear. Wooper, well it was just one of those Pokemon. It sat lounging about in a small dip in the lake surrounding the route, watching the cave for anyone who decided they might wanted to be brave and venture inside.
It wasn''t supposed to like humans, but it couldn't bear to see anyone be swallowed up in the mouth of that cave like it had seen so many times before. It had been lost in its own thoughts when it saw a green Pokemon slink into the inside of the cave. A bird swooped around in the air, and it glanced up. Oh no no! It could not let that human in the cave! It hopped up out of the water and waddled its way towards the group. "Wooper! Wooper Wooper!" it chimed in a panicked state. It seemed like stepping over it wouldn't be an option. A Wild Wooper (Level 12) is afraid you'll get in trouble if you enter the cave and isn't listening to reason! Maybe a fight will calm it down.

Ove's call echoed around the cave and bounced between the walls. If there were anyone in here that could hear it, they surely would! Contrary to what he and Astrid expected as they heard his bellow disappear down the tunnel, no answer came back and it was all quiet. They waited for quite some time and shifted impatiently as nothing happened. "Can it really be deserted? No one around at all?" Astrid asked doubtfully. "Hello? Anyone there?" She called hoarsely out herself as she was not good at raising her voice. It barely made an echo. She had remembered that if a trainer was there they would just hear a cry from a pokemon and not react, but she didn't get any response either. "So what do we do now? We do need to get through," Astrid mumbled to herself and winced as a screeching sound cut through the air. "Ove! What are you doing! Stop, it sounds horrible!" Astrid exclaimed when she had looked around and had noticed that it was the scyther who had been scratching his scythe over the rock wall. He grinned bashfully and gestured towards the wall which had a faint shaky line carved in, and when Astrid looked in confusion he made a cross-movement with his scythes towards the wall, although without touching it. "Are you marking the wall?" Astrid asked slowly as it dawned on her and Ove gave her a complacent nod. "Good idea Ove, then we can mark the way we have been going and can find our way back if necessary," Astrid followed his thought and Ove was clearly pleased with his great idea, as unoriginal as it might be. "But it should be something else than you scratching the wall, that sound was unbearable!" Astrid grinned and blinked against the sharp light from the pokedex as she turn it on. She wisely closed her eyes as she called out Sonja with a flash. Astrid explained the plan to Sonja and watched as the sandshrew used her metal enforced claws on the wall, while Ove sent a wave of vacuum towards the wall. They both made visible dents in the rock but Sonja's was clearly the deepest and most visible. "Alright, Sonja I would like for you to mark the way we have come from when we reach a cross road, if we try a way and learn it is the wrong one, Ove will mark it so we know not to go there again," Astrid said and looked seriously at her two pokemon. "I do not know how long this cave is but we need to get through. We need to work together here and I trust you help each other," Astrid said and looked at the pokedex for a few moment. "There will be mostly rock types and probably zubats in here and they certain know we are here now, I doubt they have deserted it all together. Since we do not know how long it will take us to get through you have to not use any unnecessary energy to avoid getting exhausted before we are through, so if we meet a troublesome rock type, Ove should go with Vacuum Wave, Sonja with Metal Claw, Yakul with Razor Leaf and Araceli should stay out of the way. If we meet zubats, Sonja's ice attacks will surely be the best but keep away from Ice ball, I think that will be too risky inside here. It doesn't matter what else you other use more or less, although Yakul should stay out of the way," Astrid explained and looked at her pokemon. Ove nodded thoughtfully looking like he took her ideas into account and figured out to use this knowledge. Sonja looked a bit bored and mostly seemed to dismiss Astrid's suggestions. Astrid frowned and looked around. "Where is Yakul and Araceli? Did they not follow us in?" She asked surprised. ~~ Outside it was peaceful somewhat. Yakul had been busy eating grass and had only occasionally lifted her head to look around and found nothing to be wary of. As Astrid looked inside the cave to after the green flying thing Yakul expected him to step out soon again, just like with the red square one Astrid had stepped in and out a lot of the day before. She made no move to get close and look inside herself as Astrid had made it clear yesterday that she didn't want her inside the human build cave, so what should the difference be here? Yakul started as an unknown sound broke the the peacefulness and she spotted the blue pokemon and raced towards the cave shouting. It had it's attention at Astrid and therefore was a threat in Yakul's eyes. The skiddo bleated a challenge and sent leaves flying at the wooper as she leaped forward and galloped to place herself between the wild pokemon and opening of the cave. Astrid had disappeared inside so Yakul was certain she would be safe if she could stop the wild pokemon from entering. Araceli noticed the movement and soared closer to see if Yakul would need his help, and to see where Astrid had gone to. Wordcount: 864 (Ooc: Yakul uses Razor Leaf. The well meaning Wooper thought it was doing Astrid a favor by trying to stop her from entering the cave but the poor water type never planned to face one of her Pokemon for acting as a roadblock. With Yakul blocking its path into the cave and Wooper desperate to stop the elderly trainer from making a huge mistake Wooper had no choice other than to accept the challenge from Yakul hoping it would be able to defeat the goat Pokemon so it could catch up to the human. Yakul was no slouch when it came to speed however and before the water type could start up an attack she had already summoned a swarm of razor sharp leaves and sent them flying towards Wooper. Within seconds the leaves slashed across Wooper's body and face as it screeched out in pain before tumbling over in front of the cave. Its loud cries caused a few Zubat to fly off the ceiling of the Union Cave and head towards the source of the horrible noise. As they noticed Yakul they quickly dispersed into a number of nearby trees as to not be her next victim. In the confusion a Quagsire had came out of a nearby lake and picked up the defeated Wooper and then headed back to the lake to treat the Woopers wounds. If there was one thing Wooper would have to learn from this experience it was to never try and help a human with a grass type. As for Yakul with the Wooper now dealt with she was free to try and catch up to Astrid so they could explore the Union Cave on their way to Azalea Town. Astrid looked around but couldn't spot Yakul nor Araceli. "Did they not follow us inside?" Astrid asked out loudly and made her way back to the entrance to look out. "There you are, come on we have to go through here," Astrid called as she saw Yakul trotting towards her with Araceli hovering behind. Yakul quickly joined Astrid and entered the cave after a bit of hesitation. Araceli looked after the wooper that was carried away and wondered what had happened and if the disappearing pokemon would have been able to help them. Astrid called again and he flapped over to join the rest inside the cave. "You did not hear me before so I am going to repeat some of it. Araceli, there will be a lot of rock types in here, keep your distance from them, and Yakul? You will keep away from the wild zubats, and only engage in a battle if I tell you to, alright?" Astrid explained and touched the skiddo's horns to be sure she understood. She took it as a yes as Yakul glanced up to look up warily, possible keeping and eye for the flying bats. "Alright, let us get through this cave!" Astrid said cheerfully and with Ove walking beside her, and the rest of them trailing behind, they began to make their way through Union Cave. Many trainers would make their way through the Union Cave so they could reach Azalea Town to earn their second badge but most did not have to deal with a terrible string of losses on the way there. For one unlucky trainer losing battles had become the norm and he was not very thrilled by his awful luck. He had trained so hard with his trusty partner but luck always seemed to take away any chance of him having anything to show for all their efforts. As he heard a voice off in the distance he was not about to turn down the chance to turn things around as he waited for the source of the voice to approach him. As he saw Astrid and her Pokemon approach he started to rethink his idea of challenging her to a battle but his partner Slowpoke popped out of its Pokeball and rubbed its head against his leg to try and encourage its trainer to try. " Oh Slowpoke I cannot deny you the chance of a victory after working so hard." After reacting to his Slowpoke's encouraging action he waited for Astrid to get a bit closer before he approached her hoping she would accept his proposal for a battle. He may be dressed rather oddly but Larry was quite the charmer when he wanted to be. " Excuse me madame but may I ask you for a battle? I have had an awful losing streak lately and my poor Slowpoke would really appreciate a chance to turn things around if you would be so kind as to battle us." As he paused for a moment to wait for her response his Slowpoke let out a loud yawn that echoed off the walls of the cave. Its sleepy nature may have been a factor in their losing streak but Larry was still trying his best to get his partner a win and Astrid seemed like the perfect candidate to break their losing streak. PokéManiac Larry would like to battle, he sends out Slowpoke (Level 16)

They walked quietly through the cave which showed to be much less confusing than Astrid had feared, there were a few places that had a dead end but nothing further in than it was easy to get back to the main path. They were quiet and only talked with each other whispering as every sound was echoed around, and as Astrid didn't know how long this trip would take, she wanted to have as few encounters as possible. They thought they saw a few zubats hanging from the ceiling, and they suspected more than one boulder to be a geodude, but they were got past them undisturbed. Astrid was surprised to see how many pools the cave had and she wondered if there were living any pokemon in them, and if there were connected to the ocean near by, or if they were just empty. They were easy to get around so they didn't have to worry about them.
They came across a set of stairs that lead the way down into the deep, and as they stood and tried to figure out if that was the way to go or not, a voice called to Astrid. She stared at the oddly shaped creature while he talked before realising it was man dressed up. Probably like a pokemon although she couldn't distinguish which kind.
"Good day to you sir, it is nice to meet someone else down here. Hopefully you are not lost?" Astrid answered the greeting and looked down on the pink pokemon beside him. "Of course we can give you a battle, although I cannot guaranitie that you will win it. Yakul probably should not be your opponent then" Astrid said thoughtfully as she glanced at the skiddo, who kept looking towards the ceiling. Sonja stepped forward but Astrid stopped her. "No dear, slowpoke is a water type and even though you are strong it will take far too long for you to handle it, and I do wish to be out of this cave today," Astrid said kindly but still got a glare from the sandshrew. Araceli looked suspiciously at the slowpoke, he didn't like its yawning and he flapped a bit forward to see if Astrid would allow him to take up the challenge. She did. Without warning he moved in close to the slowpoke to scream at it in the attempt to make it dumbfounded.
When there were a little break in the battle Astrid would adress the man again. "I have not introduced myself properly, my name is Astrid. Do you know the way out of here towards Azalea Town? And do you know what is down there?" Astrid asked and pointed towards the stairs.

Larry was thrilled that Astrid accepted his challenge as both him and Slowpoke really needed the confidence boost. He wondered which of her Pokemon his Slowpoke would face first as she had a number of uncommon Pokemon with her and each one looked like they had been pretty well trained. Once he knew that Araceli would be his opponent he tried to come up with a strategy to defeat the faster Pokemon but Araceli was faster than he realized as the young bird Pokemon yelled in a terrifying manner at his Slowpoke trying to get the slow minded Pokemon to flinch. Whether it was its lack of brainpower or luck the Slowpoke did not flinch but the attack nearly busted his eardrums. " My goodness your Swablu has quite a pair of lungs to yell like that, as for your question the path that leads to Azalea Town is right down this corridor. I can show you the way after our battle if you would like." After pausing for a brief moment he finally realized that it was his Slowpoke's turn to make a move and the yawn the absent minded Pokemon let out before the battle started gave Larry an idea. " Slowpoke let's try a strategic option here, use your Yawn attack to try and lure that Swablu to sleep. You cannot outrun it but maybe putting it to sleep will allow you to overpower it."The Slowpoke blinked with an absolute look of confusion on its face for a few moments as Larry started to get nervous. Just as he thought that Slowpoke might be sleeping with its eyes open the pink Pokemon let out a soothing yawn that echoed off of the walls of the cave. Araceli started to get quite drowsy as the almost musical yawn was very soothing to listen to. It was not quite powerful enough to make him fall asleep instantly but he would not be able to keep his eyes open for much longer. Larry was quite proud of his Slowpoke for succeeding in his attack but he knew the battle was far from over. " That was a pretty interesting round given how long it took Slowpoke to make his move. We are going to give it our all in this next round."Trainer Battle Weather: Normal Larry's Slowpoke | Level 16 | Own Tempo | HP: 83% (49/59) Status: Normal Used Yawn! VS
Araceli | Level 17 | Natural Cure | HP: 100% (47/47) Status: Normal, Drowsy (Will fall asleep at end of next turn unless switched out.) Used Astonish!

"You do not say," Astrid chuckled as she rubbed her ears, she felt the pain from Araceli's screaming too, and she hadn't been the target! "Oh? So it is not so far away?" Astrid asked, mostly to be confirmed and smiled warmly to the weirdly dressed man whose name she still hadn't been told. "It would be wonderful if you can take your time off to help me. I was looking for a guide of some sort when we arrived here, but there were none around unfortunately."
"Yawn?" Astrid asked chuckling, then yawned herself. "Oh, I am sorry. Those are really contagious," Astrid chuckled and waved a hand in front of her mouth as she tried to stop yawning again. "We can play that little game as well, can we not Araceli?" Astrid said mischievously. Araceli nodded and landed on the ground, but when he opened his mouth he was overcome with a big yawn. He shook his feathers to fight off the drowsiness and then sung the slowpoke a calming lullaby, that got all the rest of the pokemon to yawn as well, although they didn't feel the sleepiness Araceli was experiencing. The swablu found it harder and harder to keep up the song as he slowly succumbed on the floor, and soon he was sleeping soundly. "Oh my, Ove you better replace him," Astrid said kindly and recalled Araceli. This was a strange battle. Ove stepped forward to face the pink pokemon.
Sonja stared at them like they were madmen, how was this even a battle?
"This looks like it is going to be a slow and steady one," Astrid commented and clearly had no problem with it. Sonja snorted and turned her back to the others, this was not worth watching in her opinion. "My good man, since you seem to know the cave here, can you tell me how long it is from the exits on either side? Do you know how long it usually takes to travel through if you are going straight towards Azalea? You see, I have kind of lost my feeling of time in here, and I am uncertain on how long we have been here. Although since I am not exhausted I think it has not been long," Astrid explained and looked expectantly at the other trainer. After having got the answers from him, she would glance back at the staircase leading down. "And did you know, what was down there?" She asked once more.

Larry was not expecting Astrid to switch out her Swablu and bring out her shiny Scyther, but it was of no consequence. The next round had started, and he was going to have his Slowpoke give it his all. As the pink Pokemon would lazily look over at Astrid's new Pokemon which was an oddly colored Scyther, the elder lady asked Larry how long it exits from the other side and how long it would take to travel through to get to Azalea at the other side. "You'll usually have to turn some corners around the walls of the cave. The exit out out of Union Cave would be at the right-most side I would think. It's how I remember it. As for your second question, if you follow the directions, I'm sure it wouldn't take too long as long as I'm here to help guide you." The PokeManiac replied to the old lady's question with certainty. Before Aracelli was switched out, she had attempted to use Sing to lull the Slowpoke into a deep sleep. At any rate, his Slowpoke would wait for his trainer's order. "Slowpoke, let's give it our best with Water Gun on Ove! Huh?" What Larry did not realize was that his own Slowpoke fell asleep at the sound of Aracelli's lullaby. Larry sighed as he could do nothing about waking his Pokemon up which gave Astrid a chance to strike. Trainer Battle Weather: Normal Larry's Slowpoke | Level 16 | Own Tempo | HP: 83% (49/59) Status: Asleep Fell asleep from Aracelli's Sing. Wakes up in two turns. VS

"It worked, that is ironic," Astrid said with yet another chuckle as she recalled Araceli. "You are getting an easy start Ove, make sure you make good use of it," she told the scyther as he stepped forward to take the place. Astrid turned to face the weirdly dressed man after he had given his orders to the slowpoke. She herself gave nothing as she had faith in Ove to know what he best could do. "I would be very pleased if you would be so nice to tell me your name, or if you prefer me not to share it, then something else I can call you," she told him directly, now he had either not heard or chosen to ignore her greeting. "Sounds like you know your way around down here, have you been down there?" She asked as she pointed to the stair case that lead down into the deeper parts of the cave system. "Of course it might be flooded by now," she added more to herself as she looked around at all the puddles that filled the area.
Ove prepared for the water attack and was as the slowpoke's trainer when it did not happen. It had seen like it had fallen asleep from Araceli's singing, but if it was given an order it had might woken up already. He narrowed his eyes and tensed his muscles, focusing his mind and his energy before he raced forward to use his most precise attack: False Swipe and let his scythes slash down towards his sleeping opponent. It was best to take advantage of the time he was given by the sleeping, who knew when it would wake up and what it could do then?
