"I'll use my Fennekin,Cyndaquil and Rockruff for this... so what do i have to do?" Melinda legit was curious to see what she had to do, since this really interested her. Maui and Kaui had stopped Melinda to invite her to participate in an Alolan tradional trial. After Melinda agreed to take on the first of the trials, Maui would go on to explain the requirements of the first trial. "However," she said, "You may only take three Pokemon with you on your journey through the journey." "But don't worry," Kaui followed his wife's speech with a smile towards Melinda, "We will keep the rest of the Pokemon nice and cozy for you during the trial!"The elderly retired couple led Melinda to where the trial would begin. All that was there in the slippery, snow-melting weather was a sign for the first trial and two colorful Alolan pillar replicas. "This is where the trial will begin," Kaui explained. "If you are able to complete the trial, you will be rewarded with an Alolan Trial Amulet! With the Amulet, you will be able to find Alolan Pokemon across Johto." Kaui moved his hand showing into the distance as he said all across Johto, trying to add emphasis to how wonderful that was to him and to other trainers. "You will be looking for a certain Pokemon in this trial," Maui said. "If you are able to find and defeat the totem Pokemon, you will have completed the challenge and will have found yourself your own Trial Amulet." She gave a gleeful smile. "And to start you off young trainer, here is a hint for you: The evolved Pokemon has sharp-clawed talons, cream-colored feathers, and is very quick to anger."
"Good luck to you, trainer!" The couple smiled as they waved the trainer off. (OOC: Do note that Melinda's Fennekin and Rockruff may disobey due to being over the level cap for the quest.)

Melinda walks onwards after getting that information. That would deffinatly help her find the pokemon. She went searching for the first one, holding her Cyndaquil in her arms. Hopefully this would work, if now well.... she would always have a good story to tell.
She began to search around, looking for any pokemon who miht fit the description."Okay... Long talons,,, cream colored feathers... quick to anger...." She then realized."Im looking for a Fearow!" She then started searching around for any spearows or even the fearow itself. she knew what to look for, now the problem was finding it.

Kaui and Maui both had smiles on their faces as they watched Melinda blaze ahead to pursue the Alolan style trial that they had established within the Johto region. The hint that the elderly duo in Kaui and Maui had provided to Melinda regarding the pokemon that she'd be looking forward was creative, however despite this fact it did not take long for Melinda to decipher the hint. Melinda was convinced that she was looking to locate a Spearow or Fearow, these particular species of pokemon were known to have a sharp temper. As Melinda trekked further along the path a wild Spearow descended from above and landed a short distance ahead of where Melinda was, the avian pokemon had been eyeing off the female human closely from above. Spearow spread its wing and let out a definitive caw as it attempted to assert dominance, the tiny bird pokemon was clearly ready for a battle. Spearow's gaze did not wander from Melinda as it waited for her to choose which pokemon she would like to fight with.
Spearow (level 9) is prepared for battleWill Melinda oblige and accept the challenge?

Melinda sends out her Rockruff. "Okay roxie.. i now your not exactly cut out for this but try your best... Hit it with a rock throw!" The girl prayed and hoped the attack hit. After all, she'd traned her pokemon a bit too much for this quest. She prayed and hoped nothing bad would happeb, and that Roxie would listen to her. If not, the doggo was not getting any treats when the trial was over. Melinda also staired at the sowarow- did she realy have a temper similar to a spearow? She laughed the thought off, waiting for the spearow to make its move in retaliation.

The spearow looked and felt fearsome enough. This was just at the edge of the rougher part of route 29 so it was no slouch like the rest of the kiddies down the more traveled paths. The bird puffed up its chest and released another determined call, its feathers bristling to appear even more spiked than before. But none of this deterred the young red-head. With barely a moment in-between the display and her response she sent forth a most formidable foe. Something Spearow was wholly unfamiliar with but the old couple would be proud to see. Roxie wasted no time just like her trainer. As instructed she stood tall and summoned forth a tumble of rocks. The rattle of earth could be heard as some large rocks nearby quivered but a moment before they shot toward Spearow. The bird was a flurry of feathers. It tried desperately to get out of the way. To ascend higher in that split second it had to realize what was happening. But it was too late. A crack of stone range through the area as Roxie's attack collided together against the hollow structure of Spearow. It was all bark, no bite it seemed. The avian was knocked onto its back where it struggled to get back to its feet. Well battered, Spearow knew this wasn't something it could win alone. Blood levels rising, the angry bird shot a glare back at Melinda before jumping into the air. It struggled to get high enough. Thoughts of revenge the only thing keeping it going. Soon though, the spearow was cawing above the canopy and heading north. VICTORY!
Roxie grew to LV 16 and gained +1 Happiness! (+3)
Spearow fled! Better chase after it

Melinda gathered her courage, and went after the spearow. She refused to let the bird get away, considering she had to finish this quest sucessfully. She switched the little rock puppy for her fennekin, and charged ful speed after the bird. After all Melinda lived for the thrill of the chase, as everybody whose met her knew. She also ontrmplated using Merida, and decided if things didnt work out with leon that she would. for now, continue following the spearow was Melindas quest. Her multicolor hair blowed in the furious wind, as the sun rose in the sky. She had to keep chasing the spearow.. maybe it'd lead her to the fearow she was looking for.

The battered and bruised Spearow led Melinda and Leon further into the more rocky terrain of route 29, which was lined with moraine deposited from winter's glaciers. With the snow and ice beginning to melt, the loose tumbling rocks underfoot made it slippery and difficult to give chase. As they neared the checkpoint to route 46, they completely lost sight of Spearow. All that could be heard were the calls of wild Pokemon drifting on the wind. Melinda and Leon were left standing at a rocky pass split six ways. Distinct Pokemon calls could be heard emanating from the following paths leading to different directions: Western Path: Northwestern Path: North Path: Northeastern Path: Eastern Path: Follow Spearow's calls! Which path will Melinda and Leon go down?

Melind listened carefully, ad heard a bidoof,, geodude..... pidgey... rattata.. and A SPEAROE! She bolted downt he northwestern path.[color-pink]"Im comin for you fearow.."[/olor] she mumbled. Yeah she had to be on the rigt path. Her fennekin looked winded, but flicked its tail a bit. the wind in it's fur made it feel happy. The fennekin, having been from Kalos had never really experienced a trial before, so he like his trainer was new at this experience however he hoped he would do well and ultimatly, make his trainer happy. After all, this girl had taken him in after his previous trainer vanished.

Melinda had been listening carefully to the cries of the pokemon, each sound seemed to emanate from a different path. After some careful deliberation it appeared that she had ended up choosing to venture down the Northwestern path, she was clearly under the impression that the Spearow had fled down that specific route. Melinda's intuition and knowledge of Pokemon cries was correct in this scenario and not too far along the path the Spearow from before could be seen frantically attempting to escape back to its own safe spot, little did Melinda know that she was being lead into a trap. Melinda arrived at a large den, the last visual she had gotten of where Spearow had fled to. The large den was fairly well light as the sun beamed from above to illuminate the well. There had been many pokemon inside the den minding their own business, however upon Melinda's arrival they all simply went silent as they came to a halt on what they had been doing. In the middle of the den, there stood a pedestal with the trial amulet placed on top, this was the item that Melinda needed to retrieve to complete the alolan style trial. Sounded easy enough, that was if Fearow, Spearow's evolved form hadn't emerged from the back of the den. The large brown bird pokemon let out a definitive caw as it stared down Melinda, this was the totem pokemon and it was wiling to fight to the very end to protect the trial amulet. The Spearow from before was nearby and its facial expression indicated that it felt safe and happy now that it's partner in Fearow was going to protect it. Fearow (Level 11) is prepared to defend the trial amulet by fighting Melinda and her team off! Will Melinda accept the challenge?

Mimori gave off a curt smirk as she sent out her Cyndaquil. "It' only a level higher so this should be a piece of cake.... Merida! I want you to use Ember!" She had ordered the Cyndaquil to make it's attack, notw the cyndaquil did just that and reared up to attack, firing off an Ember at the opposing bird pokemon. The battle was on, Bird vs Cyndaquil and since Merida had beaten her bellsprout archrival, she knew there was nothing she and Melinda couldn't do together. Now it was their chance to prove just how amazing of a team they were, yeah they'd beat this fearow and obtain that trial amulet together.

Merida reared up confidently to launch her attack. However, the Fearow was no pushover and perhaps Melinda had underestimated the power of the evolved Totem Pokemon. With superior speed, the large avian Pokemon unleashed a flurry of attacks, pecking furiously at the Cyndaquil, striking not twice, not three times, but four times!
Merida reeled back shaken by the ferocity of the attack but she had full trust in her trainer. She turned her back to the Fearow and fired off flaming quills at the bird which scored a direct hit. The fearsome flying Pokemon flapped its wings in anger. It was not ready to back down in this fight! It looked as though Merida would require some help in this battle.

Melinda looked paranoid. This was not good.. "merida come back! Let's go, ROXIE! Use Rock throw!!" She had pulled back her Cyndaquil, and sent out her Rockruff. She was not going to risk Merida getting hurt or feinting- she cared too much or the cyndaquil. Better safe then sorry after all, because it'd be horrible if cyndaqui feinted. She hoped the rock puppy actually listened, and Roxie jumped up firing off the attack.. Hopefully it actually hit and didn't backfire otherwise Mimori would cry, literally she would cry loudly. Failing is not her style, and if she were to fail she'd vfeel inferior.

It had been a wise strategic move for Melinda to have Merida the Cyndaquil back out of the battle with the totem pokemon Fearow, instead it would be up to Roxie the Rockruff to finish the task at hand. Sensing the fear of its opponents, Fearow let out a large caw that sounded more like a growl, it was rather off putting for Roxie. At this point in time, Fearow felt an aura of invincibility, her power had made the human decide to switch out her pokemon, this was a a true sign of weakness for her. Fearow was fast and precise as it covered the ground between herself and her dog like opponent and used her Pluck attack on the opposing Rockruff, it didn't appear to do major damage however enough of those attacks would surely add up over time.
In response to Fearow's combination of moves, Roxie the Rockruff unleashed her Rock Throw attack towards the totem pokemon. The Rock Throw attack hit the avian directly in the head and knocked the flying type pokemon out cold, the large avian's body collapsed to the ground unconscious and a clear path to the trial amulet was now available. Melinda had defeated the totem pokemon in battle and could now collect the trial amulet and return to the elderly couple from before to find out more about the amulet. Both Merida and Roxie had gained experience and happiness for their participation within the battle, this was no doubt a valuable asset for Melinda and her team of pokemon.
