Fishing Contest
25 Coin Entry Fee
This is a fun little mini-game that takes place towards the start of a month and is held over a 5 day period. There are two objectives; catch the most number of fish and catch the heaviest fish!
There are 33 variants of Magikarp that can be caught as well as the Barboach species. Once the contest thread has been created, participants use the modified quick reply template as seen below to catch fish:
Most Fish Caught
The first way to win is to simply catch the most number of fish during the 5 days. Each Magikarp variant adds +1 to your tally (except for the Gold Magikarp which adds +2). A Barboach adds +3 to your tally! The angler with the highest tally by the end of the contest wins!
Heaviest Fish Caught
The second way to win is to catch the heaviest fish. A fish grows in size the more time has elapsed since the last fish caught (or start of the contest if none have been caught yet). Fish are weighed at the end of the contest and scaled against the average weight of a Magikarp and Barboach which are 10kg and 2kg respectively. These standard sized fish are equivalent to 1 hour (3,600 seconds) old fish.
For example, if 4 mins and 32 seconds has passed since the last caught fish, a Magikarp would weigh 272/3600 seconds x 10kg = 755.6 grams! The tiniest of fry (1 second old) weigh just 2.8 grams (1/3600 x 10kg) and the heaviest of lunkers (5 days old) could weigh in at 1.2 tonnes (432,000/3600 seconds x 10kg)!
Both participants and non-participants may post Leftover Bait or Jars of Bait to add +30 seconds or +60 seconds to the size of the next fish caught. Therefore theoretically it may be possible to catch a Magikarp weighing more than 1.2 tonnes!
