"Yes a battle, do you know what that is?" the redhead said mockingly and rolled his eyes when Blaine expressed uncertainties about battling in the fog. "I would have gotten more challenge out of that pidgey," he said to himself but loud enough for Blaine to hear. He crossed his arms impatiently for his opponent to make a decision, his cyndaquil fidgeted a bit nervously but seemed eager enough. "Really? First you let your pokemon decide what to do and then you have a stupid name like that? Is it your little sisters pet or something?" The boy asked disbelieving, "my cyndaquil won't learn anything from this battle," he grumpled and looked disdainfully at the puppy, expecting the name to tell everything about her. "Cyndaquil, show these amateurs what this is all about, and you better not disappoint!" The boy snapped, the cyndaquil swallowed hard but gave a determined nod. "Smokescreen," came the order and the firetype filled the area with black smoke but Cinnamon was already running and Cyndaquil didn't managed to get out of the way in time. "You have to use your legs furball," the boy snapped and his pokemon nodded as it got back up in its feet. Chapter 1: New Bark TownDespite the boy's rude behaviour, it seemed like Blaine was...almost completely oblivious to the fact that it seemed like the kid just didn't like him. He still had that same goofy, laid back grin he had throughout his fight with Grandpa Bird. While Cress had picked up on the obvious attitude problem, both Blaine and Cinnamon hadn't seemed to pick up on the hostility, and when Watercress looked at the pup and the lad, they looked almost one in the same: Excitable, and clueless. It was probably better in that way. "Sure dude, I know what a battle is, just had one, actually." He seemed proud of himself. After all, Grandpa Bird, while a bit snoozy, had packed a punch. "New to it sure, but I wouldn't say I don't know what it is." He added lazily.
He glanced at Cress as the boy mentioned "letting" his Pokemon decide what to do. "Wait...am I not supposed to let her decide? She's her own little dude, you know? I'm not going to make her do something she doesn't want to. That isn't cool." He shook his head and Cress nodded. 'Give that brat the chance to hold my Pokeball and he's getting whipped right into the lake.' She huffed.
He noticed the Cyndaquil seemed a little scared. "It's alright little dude," He said, talking to it rather than the Trainer. "Just do your best. Cinnamon's just looking for a good opponent that's all, she doesn't want to hurt you for real." He promised. The Smokescreen was hard to see through, but his pup pulled off her tackle just fine.
"Actually, Older Sister, but you're close enough." He said to the boy. "Doesn't matter what her name is though, does it? I think her name is perfect." He added, placing his hands in his pockets. Cinnamon wagged her tail happily. 'I love my name!' She barked, doing a spin and catching her tail in her mouth. "All right girl, why don't you try a Tackle again? I know it's kinda hard to see, but do your best!" The dog nodded and charged once more.

The redhead looked at Blaine with 'you gotta be kiddig me' expression when he reassured that he did know what a battle was. "Are you sure?" The boy asked mockingly, "you don't look like you have a clue about what you are doing." He rolled his eyes when Blaine was surprised that he shouldn't let Watercress decide. "Duh, of course you shouldn't let her decide, if your pokemon run it all on their own, why are you even a trainer?" He said and clearly meant that was everyday knowledge. Cyndaquil jumped startled when Blaine suddenly talked to it and it looked confused. "Ignore him, he is the opponent," the boy said and Cyndaquil nodded but still looked uncertain. The redhead only huffed at Blaine's answer to the name of his pup, he still found it stupid but it only showed how badly prepared Blaine was and the brat wasn't a moment in doubt that the other trainer would learn soon or later, or fail miserably. "You call that a tackle? Show them how it's done Cyndaquil," the redhead said and sounded bored. "Quil!" his pokemon said determined, it would show them how strong it was, it was not going to fail! It raced forward and it and Cinnamon met halfway and both flailed to the ground, it looked more like rough playing than a battle and the redhead grumbled unimpressed. Chapter 1: New Bark TownBlaine watched the other boy calmly as he spoke. His expression didn't change much from his initial relaxed composure. He said he looked like he had no idea what he was doing, and Blaine shrugged. "Well, of course I don't know what I'm doing, I just started." he answered with a relaxed shrug. "That's why I'm here at the start, you know? Same as you." After all, this Cyndaquil was on par with Watercress, but she had her own reasons to not want to fight. "You can call me any name you want, but it isn't really gonna change the fact that we're both here at the start." He said in a lazy tone.
He seemed very pressed about the way Blaine handled his Pokemon, and the boy shrugged once again. "I mean, they may be Pokemon, but last I checked I can't smack people around with vines or singe their hair off, like your Cyndaquil could if it wanted to. I might have been raised on a cushy life back where I came from but it didn't make me forget to respect Pokemon and People on equal ground. Maybe you should remember that the next time you look at your little guy there." he said calmly. This boy reminded him of his father, and that wasn't really a good thing. A little respect went a long way with Pokemon, and people too.
Cinnamon shook off her opponent's Tackle and glanced back at Blaine, worried she wasn't doing enough damage to satisfy him, but Blaine only smiled lazily. "Wow little Buddy, you can hit hard, can't you?" he said to the Cyndaquil, ignoring the fact that the boy would likely bark again. "Don't worry about it Cinns, a little bit at a time, go for another Tackle." The Puppy yipped before charging forwards again.

"Who said I had just started?" the redhead snapped, "I might have an untrained pokemon but that doesn't mean I haven't had others before and used them! The only reason I'm running around here is because this one," he gestured to Cyndaquil, "needs some serious toughen up if it has to be able to endure anything later on." The cyndaquil got a brief look of hope, had it managed to live up to its trainer's expectation now it sounded like he wanted to keep working with it? "Unlike you, I actually have a plan and one day when you hear what Silver has done, you will know why and realize your mistake, Silver said confidently. Silver frowned disdainfully at Blaine's talk of respect and huffed at his reasoning. "Respect is something that is earned, none of you lot has done anything to earn mine yet," the boy said, "besides, what you are talking about is not respect, that's fear. You fearing your pokemon going against you, so you don't dare actually train them but let them do what they want in the hope they don't do anything bad to you. Grow up!" Cyndaquil looked rather shocked over the idea of a pokemon attacking a human, it had never crossed it before and it didn't look like it liked the idea. When Blaine praised Cyndaquil it shot him a glance and a little smile was seen before it managed to hide it and pretend it hadn't heard him. "Leer!" Silver ordered and his fire type stared Cinnamon down as she charged at it, it didn't slow her down and she slammed straight into Cyndaquil but they both managed to stay on their feet this time. Chapter 1: New Bark Town"Whoa man, chill. Don't you think the little dude is trying the best they can?" Blaine asked as Silver berated his pokemon for being weak once again. Blaine had never really seen a Pokemon like it, so perhaps it was rare? He wasn't really sure, but he felt bad that it was getting such flak just for being at the start. It didn't matter what this boy said to him, he didn't really care, but it was clear that the young Pokemon that had fallen under his care, did. He gently tapped his ear as the other boy said his name and shrugged.
"Silver, huh? Can't say I ever heard that name before, but I'll keep an ear out for it. But y'know, I dunno how far your going to get if you overwork your Pokemon. But guess that's none of my business." He looked at the Cyndaquil, and smiled softly at it. "You just keep trying your best little dude, I'm sure one day you're going to get much stronger." Silver berated him again, and he shrugged.
"Little bit of fear is healthy, dude. Besides, I didn't ask for your respect, more that maybe you should consider the little one's feelings. But I ain't your parent." He said before turning his attention back to Cinnamon. "Keep trying girl, let me know if you get too tired. Another Tackle please!" The Rockruff yipped, hopping up on her paws to attempt to attack again.

“Tsch!” Silver’s eyebrow twitched. Who was this guy to tell him what his Pokemon was doing? Obviously, this guy was inexperienced in life itself if he thought that ‘trying your best’ translated to ‘doing a good job’. No, actually doing a good job and defeating your opponents was doing a good job. “Listen man…” Silver raised his hands and gestured to the wooded area and wildlife that surrounded them. If you listened closely, one could hear the screams of small caterpillars that became the meals of hungry birds, as the wild birds stalked them through the leafy green treetops and pulled them out from the ground below. “I dunno where you think there’s this rainbow road of happiness and bliss where participation trophies are handed out…but it’s not here. So maybe ya should just…run on home to your mommy and tell her that ‘doing your best’ can’t get ya anywhere in the real world.” He turned to his small blue echidna with its warm creamy undersides. The long-nosed fire type shivered a bit as he tilted his head up to stare at his trainer. Oh, man. Silver did not look too pleased! It cowered, pressing itself against the grassy ground below, and seemed to slink about on the ground skittishly. “C’mon, Cyndaquil, quit foolin’ around!” Silver called out to his Pokemon, kicking at the ground near the Pokemon without hitting the Pokemon at all. A small pebble flung up in the air from Silver’s kick and skidded across the ground off into the distance. “Tackle that Pokemon until it can’t fight back anymore. Got it? And really give it your all! Hopefully, you’ll learn more powerful moves after the experience!” Cyndaquil nodded as he gulped and ran after Cinnamon, ramming into the other Pokemon with his large head. They rolled around on the ground as they both tackled each other. Cyndaquil managed to scuff up Cinnamon’s sides with his tackle, though she managed to get the blue echidna back by scuffing up Cyndaquil’s chest and shoulders with her tackle. “I know one day that Cyndaquil will get much stronger. He doesn’t need your praise.” Silver said dismissively, looking off in the distance as though he were already bored of the battle. “But to do that, he needs experience defeating other Pokemon. He needs to grow stronger and learn more powerful moves. What do you think I’m trying to do here, huh? Make him stronger, duh!” Silver deliberately ignored the comment Blaine made about his parents as he tried not to think about his father too much. But, it would be obvious by the scowl on his face that it seemed to strike a nerve somewhere. Chapter 1: New Bark Town"See, maybe I could do that, but my mom's in Unova. Long way to run." He mentioned. He didn't seem bothered by Silver's behaviour, oddly enough, rather he just seemed to realize that he wasn't getting through to the red head anytime soon. Cinnamon and Cyndaquil were scuffling on the grass. Unfortunately, he coudn't just let the little creature win. It could possibly destroy Cinnamon's confidence, and he didn't want to do that either.
"I mean, I guess you have a point. Mine was only that you don't need to be so mean about it. Pokemon grow a lot with a little love too. Read that in a book once." But again, he shrugged. He wasn't going to suddenly be able to get Silver to treat his Pokemon with respect, but he did sneak a wink at the young cyndaquil when Silver's attention was off him. He believed in the little thing. He was sure that he'd be able to get stronger, but he couldn't let Cinnamon throw the battle.
"You alright girl?" He called once Cinnamon had broken free of the fray. There was a bark from the dog, while she was getting weaker, she had fight left in her. From Blaine's side, Watercress could appreciate the dog's dedication to their new trainer. "Alright then, Tackle again, let's go!" She flung herself forwards towards the Cyndaquil again.

Silver glared at the strange red-headed child. Man, what was up with this trainer?! He seemed like the type that didn’t ruffle easily. Normally, this should make Silver a lot calmer overall, since he didn’t need to worry about insults being slung around for seemingly little effect on the battle overall. “Why’da come way out here to Johto just to be a loser then, huh?” Silver demanded to know as he stared Blaine down with his deep red eyes. What was the point in speaking more than he needed to this strange guy if he wasn’t going to listen, though? Obviously, there was none. Just let the trainer fail a million times if he wanted, what did it truly matter to Silver? “Ok, Cyndaquil, Tackle attack now!” Silver pointed a finger at the furry brown dog. Cyndaquil fired small flames out the end of his snout, though nothing substantial to warrant him having any sort of mastery over fire-based moves just yet. The fog that surrounded them seemed to become denser, as though it were thickening in some way. Or perhaps, because the battle was underway for such an extended period of time, it only seemed like it had gotten worse when it was really the same old fog from before? The blue echidna kicked off the ground and rushed after his opponent. Cyndaquil leaped at Cinnamon and came crashing down on the small dog’s back. “Good work, Cyndaquil! Maybe you can prove yourself worthy after all! Now, don’t go getting’ soft!” He warned his Pokemon. Silver turned to Blaine and tilted hi head as if the guy had spoken a foreign language. What was it with weak trainers thinking that love and friendship would always save the day? He didn’t get any sort of love straight from the start, and only his hard work, grit, and determination helped him survive in this ultimately cruel world. Why should Silver think it would be any different for his Pokemon or anyone else? “Tch!” Silver spat on the ground, while the two Pokemon chased each other about through the tall grasses. “Love. What a fairytale! How ‘bout you keep believin’ in such a lousy beliefs with no strategies. Me and Cyndaquil will focus on a real plan. Ok?” Then, as Cinnamon leaped at her opponent only to land in a pile of scattered leaves completely missing the echidna altogether, Silver tilted his head back and laughed. “Cuz it sure does look like love is working out so well for you, now!” Wild Encounter Weather: Fog (-10% acc) [attr="class","qkt-bkgd"] [attr="class","qkt-wild-pkmn"] [attr="class","qkt-clip"]Cyndaquil ♂ LV 8 HP 50% [13/26] [attr="class","qkt-wild-imgbox"] [attr="class","qkt-pkmn-img"] [attr="class","qkt-trainer-pkmn"] [attr="class","qkt-clip"]Cinnamon ♀ LV 5 HP 33% [7/21] [attr="class","qkt-trainer-imgbox"] [attr="class","qkt-pkmn-img"] Cyndaquil [Blaze]: Normal Cinnamon [Vital Spirit]: (-1 acc, -1 def) SP17 Cyndaquil used Tackle! The fogs swallowed the two Pokemon as it swelled across the landscape. Cyndaquil’s burning backside would temporarily illuminate the two almost like silhouettes among the looming shadows of the unforgiving fog when puffed small bits of embers from the burners on his back. Though, it didn’t last long, only glimpses of blue hues mixed with creamy tans and darker browns seemed to give way to the two tussling Pokemon that duked it out amongst each other. Silver shrugged when Blaine spoke. He didn’t care that he wasn’t changing this fool-hearted boy’s opinion. Only by beating his opponent, would the lessons truly make a difference, he supposed. He squinted as he watched the two Pokemon race off through the tall wheatgrasses and clover fields that swept across the open terrain. In the moment, with the given fog, it was almost difficult for him to make out which of the two was Cyndaquil and which of them was Blaine’s Cinnamon. His face deepened into a heavy scowl, which slowly morphed into a cheeky smile, when he caught a glimpse of blue that reassured him which of the two was his Pokemon. “Cyndaquil, use Tackle. There’s no changing a fool’s heart except to show ‘em by force, I suppose.” He instructed with a quick snap of his fingers. Cyndaquil stood up in an awkward gate on his hind legs. He folded his short arms as if he were trying to create fists with his stubs. “Quil!” His voice beckoned in the distance, and he raced off to tackle his opponent nearly as soon as Cinnamon had a chance to turn around after being sprayed down with the cooling medicinal potion. Silver shook his head and laughed, “gotta heal him before you lose him to the fight? I knew it.” Though, he wouldn’t admit that he wished he had brought some potions of his own along. It was a solid strategy in the pinch, and Silver had to hope that wouldn’t give his opponent the edge. The two collided in the next round as both Pokemon greeted each other in a headlong tackle. Cyndaquil managed to ram its head into Cinnamon’s side, but Cinnamon flipped his opponent on his back as he rammed into Cyndaquil’s stomach with an extra-powerful tackle.
